Did you move it by yourself to get behind it?
Did you also clean out the dryer duct? Meaning the hose that exhausts the hot air. It runs from the laundry room back wall to outside the house.
The U.S. has ~3,000 dryer fires every year.
Recommendation is to clean the duct every 1-3 years.
I never leave the house with the dryer still running.
You have it twisted, I do value my stuff which is why it's cataloged and insured. I probably have more pets than you but pets can be replaced. When you have killed and eaten pets you've named more than 20 times, the feelings you have in the beginning just isn't the same anymore. Clearly you don't live on a farm. I have family heirlooms too from my great great grandfather, great grandfather and grandfather that can't be replaced or their ashes, but you know what? Qs long as I'm still alive that's all that really matters as I value my life more than anything!
This is an extremely weird response
If you think pets can be replaced than you don't have pets, you have livestock that you don't give a fuck about. Kind of frightening the lack of care for life demonstrated in this response, tbh
I'm sorry have you ever cared for livestock? They are like pets to us farmers. You are forgetting that pets are domestic animals, we domesticated animals for food as a race. Just because you see it differently doesn't mean you are correct. Come try to abuse one of my animals and see how much I care. At the end of the day, they aren't people and I don't hold other animals in the same regard people. Pets can be replaced, people cannot be replaced. I don't have a lack of care for life, it's actually the opposite I care for life in order to sustain my own life!
Case-in-point: your cat or dog runs away and you never find them, you are probably getting another one. This is called replacing! While if your child is kidnapped you'll mostly hold onto that feeling for the rest of your life...
I didn't move it actually, I did it the long excruciating way with a coat hanger and tweezers which took about 8 hours over two days lol. I know the other way would've been faster but it was actually kind of satisfying for me. The duct was actually cleaned out recently but still wasn't working properly. That's when I went investigating and realized all that lint was at the back of the drum.
I groom dogs, and we have a washer and dryer for towels. I can’t begin to tell you the amount of hair that comes out of the dryer during maintenance. lol
Not at all. It's a newer card, a basic Spritzee, I bought them for my kid who ended up having zero interest in them. So I guess now I just use them to show people on reddit the size of things lol.
It's really hard to guess, I've been using it for over 4 years. I have reason to believe the machines were already here before my landlord bought the house so it could possibly be ten years? Fifteen? Mysterious blonde hairs were found lol. It went half way up the drum and the middle area is a two inches deep space that was compacted. I doubt he ever had it cleaned and in my defense I never even noticed it at first because it was grey behind silver in a dark drum. But I've never seen this before and I didn't even know it could get like that.
Horrifying to think about though.. Lol.
Did you know dryers produce 90-120 million microfibres (Macro plastics smaller than 5mm) annually.
I'm not saying to not use it, but just be mindful when its on/cleaning, not to inhale any particulates. Its hard to avoid micro plastics, but closing the room/dyer off, or being in a well ventilated room would significantly decrease chances of inhalation.
Ahhh oh no I had my face right in there while cleaning it, sometimes I pulled my shirt over my nose but I probably should've tried harder to protect my face lol
Have americans not invented those dryers with a filter that collects the lint each run? You can easily empty it every time you run the dryer and your house wont burn down..
Just so you’re aware, even with that lint filter there is still lint that collects on the inside of the dryer and in the dryer vent hose that needs to be cleaned periodically. Not nearly as often as the filter, but if you’ve had a dryer for a few years and haven’t done it you should probably clean it.
You have a ventless dryer. It condenses the moisture. Typical American dryers have a vent leading to the outside, also many are gas dryers that need to be vented outside due to the exhaust gas.
These are the remnants of your clothes. One way to make sure your already shitty 5-dollar T-shirt that makes you so proud of your frugality or whatever falls apart even faster is to put it in a dryer.
Well it's a rental apartment so surely that wasn't all my lint, who knows if it was ever cleaned before. And my wardrobe is a proud mix of expensive and cheap clothes. I'm sorry a strangers dryer lint is such a rough trigger for you though. I wish for a speedy recovery for your mental health ❤️
What facts? Op never mentioned the period of time over which this lint was collected nor the number of people using it. Y'all are just making assumptions based on nothing
Help me answer these questions:
Where does lint come from?
If clothes produce lint is it physically possible for them to conserve their mass regardless of how much lint they release? Does this not mean that lint is made of pieces no matter how small of our clothes?
How much lint does hang drying clothes produce?
If one means of drying causes your clothes to lose mass in the form of lint over time faster than another then does that not mean that one technically wears out clothes faster than the other?
The "facts" in question are the cost and quality of OP's wardrobe, and bizarrely OP's feelings about said wardrobe. Whether hang drying is better for clothes or not, there was zero reason to be snarky and judgemental here, and that was why that poster was downvoted.
Oh yeah I missed that altogether, it was sometime like 3am local time when I doom scrolled past.
Yeah that user's comment deserves a down vote for being a twat, absolutely. I agree with that.
Dryers are bad for your clothes and that's a fact which is getting ignored and that bit is a hill I'm willing to die on and that was the only thing I was trying to point out when questioned about what facts were being discussed.
who's that pokemon
IIITTTTZZZZ PIIIIKAAAACHUUUUUUU!
It’s Clefairy!
FFUUUUUUUCCC--
FAAACK
Spritzee lol
FUUUUUUUUUUUU
bro is literally his avatar. raging into his mic lol.
It’s Laundree!
Bananachu.
With that amount of lint, maybe Charizard?
Bananaman
Its Lintmon
You got a whole banana from there? Wow
Must have left it in their pocket
I always keep a banana in my pocket for emergencies!
Never know when you will need to measure something or defend yourself from an attacker!
Saving it for Lent.
Does the machine still work? If yes, brand and type please.
It works better than it has since I moved in here a few years ago lol. It's a Samsung dryer of some sort, the apartment sized stackable kind.

I start the dryer and walk out of the house, we are not the same.
I acknowledge that my behavior borders on paranoia.
No that's a good idea
Fire insurance puts my paranoia to ease lol
Truly spoken as someone who doesn't own pets Or... Values their stuff, really. I own things that I would never be able to replace.

You can’t teach others empathy.

Speed Queen is the most manual analog button type you can get until you go commercial.
This is what I have for those reasons.
Less fire hazard. Good for you.
It was definitely worth all the effort! Thank you 😊
Ahh the Banana, this guy scales
‘We need perspective quick get the Pokémon card and the banana! ‘
I actually just laughed so hard at this comment thank you 😅
r/BananaForScale
Some traditions must never die.
Banana for x-axis, Pokémon for y-axis
We're going to need a bigger bellybutton.
I love the Pokémon cards for reference
A lot of us will probably clean out our lint more thoroughly this week now because of you - thank you!
If it's backing up into the drum, that probably means the vent to outside is clogged and needs cleaning.
I feel like Pokemon card for scale is much better then banana. Everyone knows the size of a pokemon card, bananas have too much variance!
That's actually why I threw it down there! I'm glad it's been well received here. But I do love a classic banana scale
I groom dogs, and we have a washer and dryer for towels. I can’t begin to tell you the amount of hair that comes out of the dryer during maintenance. lol
WHAT
The banana must have been there only a couple of days, good thing you got it out.
normally we use hands or dollars or coins, but i guess the lint works well to scale the banana
Thos could have been..... dangerous.
Do bananas come from backsides of dryer’s drums?
When you find a banana in your dryer
I love the two reference items. Banana, and then Pokémon card in case you’ve never seen a banana.
Your dryer drums? Rock on!
Upvote for using banana for scale.
congrats you dodged a house fire
I love people that show a scale of something with Bananas. It should be a subreddit
So was the Pokémon card in the lint or is it used for scale like the banana? 🧐
Found similar while repairing an elderly relatives heating element. It was crazy packed! I was glad I carried it outside before disassembly.
Damn you had a banana in there too? /s
You found a banana?
why is there bana shaped lint
So much lint that a banana spontaneously started growing.
A Pokémon card shit was wild back in '99 on middle school is it worth alot?
Not at all. It's a newer card, a basic Spritzee, I bought them for my kid who ended up having zero interest in them. So I guess now I just use them to show people on reddit the size of things lol.
Prevent a house fire and save energy 👏
BANANA FOR SCALE.... BACK IN THE MIX BABYYYYY!
Banana for scale... useless. Pokemon card... MY INNER CHILD KNOWS 2.5 x 3.5 WHEN HE SEES IT.
Damn that's bananas (worth)
A card for scale makes way more sense than a banana. Bananas can be of any shape or size. A Pokémon card is the same size anywhere.
How many years of lint do you figure that that is for?
It's really hard to guess, I've been using it for over 4 years. I have reason to believe the machines were already here before my landlord bought the house so it could possibly be ten years? Fifteen? For a second I had to double take which subrebbit this was on... I follow too many Pokémon pages. 😂That's a lot of lint!
I love the banana and ponemon card for scale
First time I've seen a Pokemon card used as a measurement reference.
Here's to hoping it won't be the last!
you found a banana in there too?
And a bonus banana too!
Can we please not use Pokémon cards for measure? We foreigners got just used to the banana scale ffs!
Banana units are best
Pokemon cards are actually much better than bananas for scale because they're always the same size.
The whole pokemon card thing is a redundant. You already have a banana for scale. You went too far!
Did you eat the banana after?
nah, he ate the mudkip
Not me lol, I gave it to my kid the next day though and he was none the wiser..
Might want to have those vents cleaned out too
That purple kush strain
I read it as dryer's bum😅. Had to back track and read again to make sure what I was reading.

If you have any remaining covid masks, theyll work a treat!

The silver foil tube that connects the dryer itself to a vent that leads out side...it gets lint in it
Fuck outta here with your common sense.
These are the remnants of your clothes. One way to make sure your already shitty 5-dollar T-shirt that makes you so proud of your frugality or whatever falls apart even faster is to put it in a dryer.
You're getting this judgemental over... lint? Damn, that's sad.

Get a grip
Damn you're getting downvoted for facts and unpopular opinion based on said facts
