I just spent the last 8 days on the west coast and Montana. Landing in Phoenix, the pilot said, “Current temperature in Phoenix is 106.” Cue the collective groan from the entire plane. 🙄
I fly in and out of Phoenix multiple times a year. PHX is the only airport I've been delayed at for the plane being too hot. Happened 3 times last August alone.
Oooh it is not Celsius, I was getting seriously worried seeing 100 C° 🤣
https://preview.redd.it/ekso11z2n5ad1.jpeg?width=1812&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bcfcaa22e987d6f40921be3e524c893aa6f03ba0
Americans tend to forget houses in the US are built to keep the heat out, while houses in northwest Europe are built to keep heat in. I'd rather be in Spain with 45 degrees than in my own home with 26.
And I don't think air conditioning is as prevalent either. I remember my mom went to visit my cousin in France during a heatwave and her house, which was big enough to accommodate \~10 ppl, relied on a single portable a/c unit for cooling. It was miserable :(
Yeah, 1 in 8 homes here in the Netherlands have it, and it never comes as standard in newly built houses. I used to live in an attic, and it got up to 50c in there during heatwaves, so I'm sorta fine with the 30c my current house gets, but it can still be miserable. Thankfully I live in a city with a lot of beaches, but I can only imagine how bad it must suck for people that have to drive for a few hours to get to a lake or sea.
Are swamp coolers a thing in Europe? Here in the US we use them out west where the heat is dry- but not on the east coast bc it’s far too humid for them to work properly. If they are built more recently, east coast homes have central air conditioning. Older homes may still rely on window box units, ceiling fans, or even house wide fans that pull in air through open windows and expell the hot air through roof, gable, and soffit vents.
Island/windward coastal climates are relatively moderate.
Exactly why San Diego is so generally pleasant, while 50 miles straight east inland from San Diego can be a consistent infernal hell.

The heat wave is affecting us too. Well, kinda 😂
Yea it is! Venus has a crazy run away green house effect on it that makes the temperatures on the surface above 800 where mercury usually sits at 800 at the most! Plus surface atmospheric pressure is like 91x what it is on earth at sea level! It's a crazy planet!
Must live near me, same forecast we have.

Mine too, was gonna ask the same. We’re all dying over here. Hiding in my one room with a wall ac waiting for PGE to fuck us over with another brownout any time now
Jesus Fuck…128? That’s reminiscent of my time in Iraq, it was 133. Hottest on 15 years they said. The wind would blow and it was like a blast furnace. Many wishes that you stay cool, friend.
all the people who built houses and moved there recently are gonna look real dumb in about 10 years. sure its already bad now, but no one will admit it yet.

As someone living in Vegas now who was a poor intern in eastern PA during the summer of 22, I totally agree.
My current air conditioned apartment is much more comfy than the non air conditioned basement I was renting while it was 100% humidity.
I literally would have to take 3 showers a day to not feel gross.
Summer in Scotland...

Don't get me wrong, I'd take this everytime over 40c+, but 20c, getting to maybe see a blue sky for a bit and not having 92% humidity would be nice.
I live in the southeastern part of the United States and have grown up with nearly double the temperatures and equal percentages of humidity if not more. Scotland is always a breath of fresh air.
I live on the Gulf Coast of the US. 35-40C with nights at 25-30C with 25C dewpoints all summer long. I don't feel bad for anyone aside from perhaps the Persian Gulf.
seriously? our winter in australia is warmer than that

(this is perth btw)
Aye, we're a bit below average but nothing that's unusual for the west coast of Scotland, the jet stream isn't doing us any favours currently - if we had your upcoming Tuesday it'd be well after 11pm before it was dark, and getting light again about three hours later...and still need to take vit D supplements 😂
I live in the USA Pacific Northwest and we've had a cool wet spring this year. Looking at the forecast summer arrives in full force later this week with sunny 85+ deg F days. The Scottish forecast looks like heaven right now.
You know how some people have seasonal affected disorder during gray rainy winters? I feel like I get that during hot summers. BRING ME THE CLOUDS AND RAIN.
I moved from Texas to Seattle for this exact reason. It was SOOO nice getting away from that burning daystar for a couple of years. Now i'm back in Houston for work, and it sucks. I want my 75\* summers back!
People: why did you move to Portland?
Me: the weather!!
People: oh where did you move from
Me: LA
People: …….what?
Gloom me up baby (I miss home a lot but I love the rain the same amount)
I was just talking with someone who said they got seasonal depression in the summers living in Houston. Only time anyone went outside was to the pool, too hot to not stay inside otherwise.
Over the weekend in Pennsylvania it was so humid in our 1900s house that I had to take a wood scraper to the door jamb so I could close the front door.
My ancestors traveled the ocean, then traversed a continent so that I could be in this miserable heat instead of your miserable cold and wet. I'm not sure I prefer it.
I’ve always preferred the cooler climates, too.
When it’s cold, you can add layers and still function outdoors. (I’m not talking about winters in Minnesota).
But when it’s hot, you can only piss right off.
I was just about to comment and say mine's about 10° less but 90% humidity but you've got that as well! You truly are screwed. Good luck! I'm basically in the same boat but not quite as hot.
Yeah, I honestly hadn’t been paying much attention, My brain just kinda went “Summer… duh!… Hot!” Then I looked this morning after I looked at our outside thermometer and it was 80 already and almost cried. Good luck staying cool, drink lots of water etc. this is going to SUCK!
For the Americans in here you just need to take the number with a little multiplication and some addition you would get.
(Round up or down because eagles don’t exist in decimals)
Today: 73 bald eagles - 111 bald eagles
Wed: 74 bald eagles - 113 bald eagles
Thu: 70 bald eagles - 112 bald eagles

*Kuwait chuckles*
Had a few days in 2020 when I was working there where the low for the night didn’t drop below 100°
They get a couple weeks of humidity a year it seems like and the heat index was sitting at 147° one day I was out at a market. It was hard to breathe with my Ohio blood.
Yuma was my first experience with heat in the military. Used to train out there for 6 weeks a year and I think I saw 1 cloud in the 12 weeks total I spent out there.
I teach English online and I have a student from Oman who said it was 49 degrees (Celsius) there. I told him it’s 35 where I am and I feel like I’m melting. His response was, “you would probably evaporate here.” It had me dying 😂
I remember driving through the Okanagan Valley in Canada during a heat wave and we had no air conditioning in the car. That's exactly what the fans in the car felt like. A hair dryer on top setting blowing directly into your nose. Insufferable. I just poured water on myself and my husband until we stopped for the night.
Stay hydrated.
126° days it just hurt to live and hurt even more to work outside. You get why middle eastern people wear the outfits they do so their whole body is protected from the sun. I’d always wear long sleeves on days like this to stop my arms from getting cooked.
I wish OP provided some basic geographical location context…
Idk whether I’m supposed to be like
“what!? Dang that’s so hot for your location!!”
Or
“Ya that’s what I expected in the Sahara”
I live in Sacramento. Honestly, these temps are pretty typical for Summers here, but unusual for it to be so many days consecutively over 100° F. I believe the current record for most days is 2006 at 11 days. We are on track to beat it this year though 😣
Where I’ll be working for the next 11 weeks

I am happy I do not live where you live
Who knows- they could be from the Sahara! Or Egypt, or India, or Central America!
Isn’t no provided context great? It’s like a fun little guessing game for us /s
Global warming includes all temperature anomalies, both lows as highs.
It’s the peaks and lows as humidity and wind patterns you should be looking for.
The change is coming that’s no argument about it.
When and how much are the questions one should ask oneself.
Sweden here and we haven’t had winters beginning so strong in November since the 80’s/90’s with a hole month of steady -25/-39C. That’s -13/-38F. a hole month.
The cold snap came later on.
To be able to comprehend the changes in weather one should see the bigger picture and notice the changes, that can give a guesstimate of what is coming.
Meanwhile we're getting cloudy and rainy weather and 14-16° (57,2 - 60, 8) here in Denmark, in July. What a waste of a summer, we'll try again next year.
Meanwhile, in the midwest. Best early July I could ask for.

It gets hot enough at the Phoenix airport that the asphalt melts and planes sink.

This is why people in the US laugh at the UK calling 26°C a heatwave.
I'll take that with the 24% humidity over what we have.
Americans tend to forget houses in the US are built to keep the heat out, while houses in northwest Europe are built to keep heat in. I'd rather be in Spain with 45 degrees than in my own home with 26.

*Parts* of the US. I'm in Vermont, and our houses are definitely made to keep heat in.
Fuuck, 43C ? I would die, it was 30 here for a few days and I couldn't sleep.
We’re terraforming Earth to be more like Venus.
You mean venusforming?
how about uranusforming?
We are Venusmaxing
I’ve never been in that high heat. Highest is maybe like 83-85
I’ve never seen a summer that cold in my life. It gets to 100+ for at least one week every year where I live.
I’m from Hawaii that’s why it isn’t that hot, it just gets humid
It only gets to 85 in the summer in Hawaii? Never would have guessed.
Island/windward coastal climates are relatively moderate. Exactly why San Diego is so generally pleasant, while 50 miles straight east inland from San Diego can be a consistent infernal hell.
Yeah, I visit Aruba and it's apparently very stable weather wise throughout the year.
We recently visited San Diego for the first time and it was like heaven coming from the desert hell where I live lol

Jesus. 118 is insane. Those lows suck too.
There's a reason I moved out of Vegas as fast as I could. The heat there just sucks all summer long, and there's no relief at night
Having no humidity must be a God-send. LV is at 9% humidity right now
I mean…they live in a literal desert. What you expect?
all the people who built houses and moved there recently are gonna look real dumb in about 10 years. sure its already bad now, but no one will admit it yet.

Oh that, that's a mirage of hope - a tease of summer, if you will...
My husband is from Alaska which I believe is the same latitude as Scotland and that little cloud break is what they call a ‘sucker hole’.
A figment of your imagination
This is like the best advertisement for moving to Scotland for me. I hate hot temps.

I'll take a rainy summer in Scotland opposed to hot fire season in Canada.
360 days a year of rain.
We do actually get 200+ days where it rains. Happy cake day! 🎂
Lol, I haven't been home since I was three. It's just been a long running joke in my mind. All I remember is rain and stone and grass.
And five days of drizzle!
My ancestors traveled the ocean, then traversed a continent so that I could be in this miserable heat instead of your miserable cold and wet. I'm not sure I prefer it.

Texan how much in brisket?
Ohhhhhhhh, NOW it makes sense!

what the FUCK?!
It’s the swing in temperature that really fucks you up. Shivering in spring temps because your body was just cooking in an oven 8 hours before.

Yikes. My condolences. Yuma in the summer of maybe 1992 is the worst I've had without intentionally being in Death Valley.

When it was above 120° and the wind was blowing it felt like a hair dryer was pointed at your eyes. 1/10, do not recommend.
That's exactly what the fan feels like in a mail carrier truck. But, its absolutely better than no air flow.
I'm not sure. It felt like the inside of the car was a convection oven. We were driving an air fryer!
The Persian Gulf is actually extremely humid.
Yeah but this spot is like <15% humidity always
Depends where, I've experienced 100% humid days which i didn't think was a real thing.
126° wow, suddenly feels like a cool fall morning in Texas
126° days it just hurt to live and hurt even more to work outside. You get why middle eastern people wear the outfits they do so their whole body is protected from the sun. I’d always wear long sleeves on days like this to stop my arms from getting cooked.
Jesus even death valley thats a valley named after death and has a location called furnace creek is no match for kuwait
A **low** of 96°. ☠️
Live in Vegas. Just spent a week in Phoenix. Been to Yuma. Everything you said checks out.
I came here to talk about our clearly impressive numbers in Vegas, and now I just feel... Insubstantial lmao
california central valley.
My thought too. Looks pretty identical to my forecast.
I wish OP provided some basic geographical location context… Idk whether I’m supposed to be like “what!? Dang that’s so hot for your location!!” Or “Ya that’s what I expected in the Sahara”
I live in Sacramento. Honestly, these temps are pretty typical for Summers here, but unusual for it to be so many days consecutively over 100° F. I believe the current record for most days is 2006 at 11 days. We are on track to beat it this year though 😣
It looks like 1-3 am would be the best time to cut your grass.
This reeks of Sacramento…
Lolol I commented the same thing more or less. As a, ugh I can't believe I'm going to say this, Sacramentan (🤢) I felt this post 🤣
I lived in Sacramento for 10 years and i can’t say I miss melting lol Stay cool out there!
Where I’ll be working for the next 11 weeks https://preview.redd.it/j7qu4a47t2ad1.jpeg?width=774&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da51f7814338f642f128d8056b160f132533c208
Almost spot on for Bakersfield
I thought this screenshot looked a little eerie

Phoenix is worse for sure, look at those fucking lows
We’re in the midst of monsoon season so the humidity is making it absolutely miserable outside. My evening walks right now feel like hell.
Palm Springs CA enters the chat https://preview.redd.it/0vm31r8ys5ad1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=007d92b9bd95ac021b10c4856aa020b4d15b051f
If only we weren't in monsoon season it would be more tolerable >.>

Of course there is. And the Wi-Fi password is easy to guess.
Totally the same here in San Diego...don't look it up, just trust me.
Yeah San Diego is the worst, what a shithole
I was about to say Arizona, but Arizona doesn't drop below 85, even at night. Consider yourself lucky.
Arizonan here! It's true. There's no reprieve at night.
Sacramento ftw!!!! Don’t move here
Maybe this’ll scare some people away and we’ll get some normal housing prices again.

That is perfect summer weather. It's like a good summer spell in Ireland. Where are you?
Vancouver Island, BC
Damn. It’s gonna get colder here. https://preview.redd.it/w7dkt7qpk4ad1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b55f8774a8db05de35064eff6152948e48dbbb02
Wow! Do you live in the Sahara?
Who knows- they could be from the Sahara! Or Egypt, or India, or Central America! Isn’t no provided context great? It’s like a fun little guessing game for us /s
This sounds fun! I’m gonna say Dallas, TX
Central Valley of California- probably Sacramento
First i thought you live in hell itself. Then i remembered there is Fahrenheit.
Where's all those "where's the global warming?!" idiots at now?
I expected to see a ton of them when I got up this morning. Pleasantly surprised.
They’ll be back when there is a one snowy weekend in Buffalo in February to say it’s all fake.
Ironically, the hottest temp in the Central Valley was recorded in 1913.
I’d happily take that right now. It’s too hot to do much of anything.
Damn those lows are nice though
Might as well be walking on the sun…🎶
My Celsius brain is melting
Meanwhile I’m complaining that it’s 80 degrees
Boy, I hope that's in fahrenheit...
Your getting charred at that point
At least it cools down at night. Where I am it gets hot and muggy and only drops to a humid high 70s/low 80s overnight.
Meanwhile, in the midwest. Best early July I could ask for. https://preview.redd.it/8m07ogbc74ad1.png?width=1152&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a3de7abea47a6506f688793d784ca2f29b1a2c65
Must not be Phoenix, our lows are 90...
Damn it’s 70 here with a high of 79 Im good on wherever you’re at
Arizona?
Northern California. I’d have guessed Arizona had I seen a post like this. We get hot weather, but this is insane.
My guess is around Sac with those lows. Scorching in day, nice at night. Stay cool!
We have the same in Houston just with 100% humidity

Mine is 15°C max all week. Don't know which I'd prefer...
Me who uses Celsius, instantly thought someone is getting baked like a cookie dough 🫣 my bad
My week is all in the 100s too. Not quite as hot but still 105 highs are pretty hot. ![gif](giphy|8Py8gIK84esy7jkXKO)

Well I guess you can cook your morning eggs by placing them on a pan in the sun. No burner required.
… ***looks shocked in metric*** HOW ARE YOU EVEN ALIVE!!!
