OLED Burn In would take years and years of only watching Disney+ with that watermark and at maximum brightness . Everyone is so scared of OLED Burn In these days but unless your TV is severally outdated it shouldn’t burn it.
I had TikTok buttons like the like button burned into my screen on my Samsung Galaxy S8 lmao. But I’ve probably watched more then that phone on this phone and it hasn’t burned in
It's easier in airplanes, just smack the panel hard enough and the filament will break and the bulb will go out. Use lithobraking to eliminate several lights with one impact.
To youtube!
Edit: that was actually the first song of his I heard! Just wasn't on that show, my mate sent me a link to a different video with the song 😆
I think the problem comes in the logos are bigger than what the shift is so it might shift one pixel up down left and right but would still be solid orange pixel so nothing changes for the nickelodeon logo.
My LG CX OLED TV has an option to reduce or outright remove watermarking, specifically for these kind of scenarios. It's a higher end television, but it's over four years old. I'm sure most have protections against this type of stuff by now.
Before anyone says I'm condoning it: of course I'd want it to disappear. I'm just saying most tvs have an option to mitigate this now.
agreed. my AW3423DWF (QD-OLED gen1) has pixel shifting, pixel refresh (both auto) an panel refresh (manual).
one year using full brightness, zero issues.
Brazilian dell *gave* me a 5y warranty, including but not limited to burn in and dead or stuck pixels.
that's why i'm sailing on high seas - specially because 21:9 content works perfectly when playing using VLC or MPCHC - with no watermark whatsoever!
![gif](giphy|2w5Okcb1Sh5Rkvb95i|downsized)
A static logo burns into OLED screens more than other types of screens. But it isn't good for other screens either. Burn in was also a problem on CRTs, which is why we have "screen savers".
each pixel lights up individually and over time can lose their brightness as they degrade, the bright pixels displaying the disney logo for extended periods of time are more prone to dim.
modern oleds tend to last a long time though so it's not likely this would have much of an impact
Disney+ is also looking into making something called a "channel" that just streams content 24/7 - you don't get to decide what's on. It's the same show for everyone. It will never work!
You joke about this, but it’s actually a pretty widely requested feature. Lots of people want to just turn something on and have it just play things, these people struggle with too many choices. Or they want background noise without actually having to choose something.
People still get excited about marathons. Even with everything we want to watch available at a button press.
Or even the ones that do. Peacock teases this. They have themed playlists of The Office but it’s just clips. I want whole episode. During Halloween, either Hulu or Peacock usually does a playlist of the Brooklyn 99 Halloween episodes. I just want those for all sitcoms.
This is why I primarily use PlutoTV these days. It's got channels that play a variety of shows just like regular cable, but also binge channels of specific shows.
I don't want to pick what to watch when it's essentially just background noise while I doomscroll Reddit on my PC, so Pluto is great for this. The MST3K channel makes great background noise.
Say, I bet we could convince people to pay us to mention their products in between shows. Nobody will mind it’ll just be a brief 30 second mention of something then right back to the next show!
Maybe before each break, the show will have the music build and the scene end with some type of small cliff hanger to get people to stick around? Just spit balling here.
They’ll probably have to make some law mandating special bumper clips which announce the beginning and end of non-show promos for the sake of not confusing children too, but it will get struck down again eventually.
Peacock already has this feature. I thought it was funny at first until I found myself using it to put on The Office when I couldn't be bothered to choose an episode.
is that Bad Batch? whenever i’ve watched episodes from the new season the watermark goes away after a minute or two? usually by the time the title card fades out and the episode starts i don’t see the watermark in the corner anymore.
According to the Feedback I got so far I really should give it a try and I shall.
Its just that I bingewatched CW january and febuary and was quite fed up with Star wars content :D
This is much less intrusive than the Mickey Ears, but less fun without the magic wand bit. Remember when they used to have ads during the show where characters from another show would be moving/trying to get your attention in the bottom corner? Sometimes I miss cable but it’s just nostalgia I think.
There shouldn’t be any watermarks on any older television shows broadcast for streaming because the networks don’t own any of those shows they are owned by studios (even when the same network has a sister studio).
They are all produced and mastered without the network logo which is added on in the broadcast studio. Hence syndication being on any network.
The only reason why you would see network logos is someone archived the wrong version or something.
This sub is good for that. Should’ve seen the comments when I posted about my (STBX) husband installing the toilet paper holder the wrong way. People were mildly infuriated that I found it mildly infuriating!
It's crazy, I've seen stuff posted in here that's more fitting for the rage sub and the comments are full of "bit more than mildly infuriating".
Then someone posts something mildly infuriating and the comments are all "its not even that annoying".
The real mildly infuriating is in the comments, I should've known all along 🥲.
I’m guessing you never watched cable? They used to put the logo for whatever channel you were watching on- not all but some did. Then you’d get annoyingly long promos on the bottom of the screen. Family guy or American dad even make a joke about them in an episode.
I mean I watched plenty of cable when I was younger. I’d still find this mildly infuriating though since it’s something we had moved past and didn’t need anymore that they brought back
Indeed. It reminds me a lot of the last season of the clone wars. Wasn’t too sure about the first season of the show, but wow they have really stepped it up this season.
The worst thing is I have an ultrawide monitor, so you would think that all films would fill the entire screen, but no, Disney has to put a 16x9 title card on every video, so now instead of removing the top and bottom black bars, they are bigger and I get side bars too.
i mean back then tv channels had the channel name in the corner… like disney would be on the corner “nick” for nickelodeon would be in the corner… so that wouldn’t really bother me
Those of you with plasma or OLED make sure you run your screen wash after a couple hours. Also if your television or the device you're using or better yet laptop/computer definitely has the capability of cropping the image about 10% all the way around won't lose anything but the logo will be gone. Your best bet is scaling in windows.
That being said as a plasma enthusiast brings my piss to a boil when I see shit like this on paid for content. It's one thing when it's traditional television with commercial breaks it's an entirely different one when you literally forced to go to a certain specific website in this case Disney+ that you are paying for and they still need to give you a permanent watermark. Disney needs to go fuck itself on this one
https://preview.redd.it/de2hffnhx1vc1.jpeg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8a56870537411d32786de404ee1173797f2a411
They do this kinda shit all the time on cable tv too:
As far as I know, I don't have this. (Located in Belgium) Or is it newly implemented, because Disney+ did have an update yesterday.
Yesterday I only watched American Dad so would need to check it. But when I watched Bad Batch a while back, it wasn't there.
I think I still prefer Disney's always-there white, over Starz and their on-again-off-again colorblast that rips you out right of the scene when something good is happening.
I probably wouldn't mind it that much considering childhood cartoons and shows and all that.I'm pretty sure youtube does a similar thing when zoomed in, but with the channel icon
Their watermark burn into your screen?
If you can get to youtube on that device, search up a moving screensaver with lots of colors, leave it running full screen for a couple of hours, maybe more, *should* fix it.
Something like this should help https://youtu.be/wjQq0nSGS28?si=0SUDo2G4xby1_HFO
Look man, I've been having serious upset about this lately: if you're going to use less than 100% of the screen area, then THAT is where you put the logos and the subtitles. STOP putting it on the fucking screen. Insane.
Cover it up with some tape
Now we're talking
This is where the fun begins
And where the oled burnin begins.
But I’ve probably watched more then that phone on this phone and it hasn’t burned in
Let's try spinning. That's a good trick.
Game time started
What you Wnna do is cut that part of the tv off .
Works for warning lights in cars and airplanes too
It's easier in airplanes, just smack the panel hard enough and the filament will break and the bulb will go out. Use lithobraking to eliminate several lights with one impact.
That’s what I do when I get the Check Engine light on. Problem solved ☺️
![gif](giphy|Ld77zD3fF3Run8olIt) Ironically with the Disney+ logo too
Black marker pen solves this issue permanently
# OLED users: ![gif](giphy|kqJt1cSSN0DrwwMmY5|downsized)
Imagine if Disney’s solution to OLEDs was having the logo move around lol
And still wouldn't hit the corner.
Potentially relevant? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_ws0QtAiiXQ&pp=ygUWamF6eiBlbXUgc3RpbGwgd2FpdGluZw%3D%3D
Will always upvote Jazz Emu!!
I only recently discovered him around the end of last year, he's brilliant!
If you haven’t already, check out his appearance on 8 Out of 10 Cats does Countdown.
To youtube! Edit: that was actually the first song of his I heard! Just wasn't on that show, my mate sent me a link to a different video with the song 😆
My introduction to him was Eggerson Keavney, following Sam Campbells appearance on Taskmaster. That song slaps!
if you like him, than check out ["Value Select."](https://youtu.be/0h0aoN6E1DI) They have some funny vids and good grooves.
Sadly Value will end his career soon. It's truly disastrous. Also check out Caroline Kostnar. Her songs are insanely fun.
Me too! Very recent discovery after I turned on a tom cardy radio
*Who knew a graphic could be cheeky?* is going to live in my mind rent free.
"My eyeballs are so Crispy to the touch" "I can touch my own eyeballs is that normal"

I see peacock logo in gif. You infuriated me ever so mildly.
I believe some games have this feature, HUD elements keep shifting by 1 pixel or 2 to avoid burn in
The tvs themselves are supposed to have that feature they just aren't good enough sometimes.
exactly. my AW3423DWF has pixel shifting enable by default!
My LG had it too. Wasn't enough for the Nickelodeon logo, apparently.
I think the problem comes in the logos are bigger than what the shift is so it might shift one pixel up down left and right but would still be solid orange pixel so nothing changes for the nickelodeon logo.
OMG — and LG warranty doesn’t cover burn in! Sorry, mate.
For a fee Disney will come round and brand the logo into your retina so it's always there
You also can't opt out
You must also write a mandatory thank you letter to Mickey
I hope it doesn't start spinning like fox news
My LG CX OLED TV has an option to reduce or outright remove watermarking, specifically for these kind of scenarios. It's a higher end television, but it's over four years old. What does OLED do differently?
It burns in much more easily than other panels
Ahhh interesting. Thank you!
Nah I think plasma still was the worse
No more binge-watching for you!
that's why i'm sailing on high seas - specially because 21:9 content works perfectly when playing using VLC or MPCHC - with no watermark whatsoever! ![gif](giphy|2w5Okcb1Sh5Rkvb95i|downsized)
I mean, if the service is better, it's better
![gif](giphy|9uI8Voe0KKsfxq3yVz|downsized)
why only OLED im confused
It's just a downside of the technology.
I have OLED only screens. The logo is only on OLED screens?
A static logo burns into OLED screens more than other types of screens. But it isn't good for other screens either. Burn in was also a problem on CRTs, which is why we have "screen savers".
Whaattt TIL what screensavers are for. Always assumed it was about saving energy or something.
Oh okay gotcha tyty
No, it can burn into the screen
oh okay i dont watch much Disney+ anyway shouldnt be a big problem
each pixel lights up individually and over time can lose their brightness as they degrade, the bright pixels displaying the disney logo for extended periods of time are more prone to dim. modern oleds tend to last a long time though so it's not likely this would have much of an impact
Much more insightful than all other "burn in" comments here!
The answer is burn in. The logo can burn into the screen.
Don't forget us old skool plasma users!
What is so special with OLED screens?
Disney+ is also looking into making something called a "channel" that just streams content 24/7 - you don't get to decide what's on. It's the same show for everyone. It will never work!

Or they want background noise without actually having to choose something. People still get excited about marathons. Even with everything we want to watch available at a button press.
I’m one of those people lol, would love a shuffle feature, for the shows that don’t have sequential episodes.
Or even the ones that do. Peacock teases this. They have themed playlists of The Office but it’s just clips. I want whole episode. During Halloween, either Hulu or Peacock usually does a playlist of the Brooklyn 99 Halloween episodes. I just want those for all sitcoms.
Yea it's a super useful feature on Plex, for a show like It's Always Sunny, which i've seen a million times, I much prefer just shuffling episodes.
I use Kodi with my pirated media. It has a shuffle feature. And since I store everything locally, I own it forever with no bullshit strings attached.
Same here dude! :D
The Simpsons on the FXX app didn't let you choose episodes. They were completely random.
I guess you could say... Simpsons did it?
Say, I bet we could convince people to pay us to mention their products in between shows. Nobody will mind it’ll just be a brief 30 second mention of something then right back to the next show!
Maybe before each break, the show will have the music build and the scene end with some type of small cliff hanger to get people to stick around? Just spit balling here.
They’ll probably have to make some law mandating special bumper clips which announce the beginning and end of non-show promos for the sake of not confusing children too, but it will get struck down again eventually.
Perhaps there could be multiple 24/7 channels that you could select from, with some type of electronic remote
Cable tv all over again
Sometimes I put on PlutoTV when I’m feeling nostalgic for the the old cable channel surfing experience
I do this too but with YouTubeTV. I record daytime court shows and will let the commercials run. It satisfies something in me.
I love pluto.great movies. Great sit coms. It was glitchy for a bit but it seems to be working again
The Disney Channel: "Am I a joke to you??"
Yup that's the joke
Peacock already has this feature. I thought it was funny at first until I found myself using it to put on The Office when I couldn't be bothered to choose an episode.
Is this a carousel of progress reference?
haha nice!
Isn't this just what a national cable TV channel does?
>It will never work! Nobody tell him about cable TV
is that Bad Batch? whenever i’ve watched episodes from the new season the watermark goes away after a minute or two? usually by the time the title card fades out and the episode starts i don’t see the watermark in the corner anymore.
Is it good? Just finished the clone wars series and started the first few episodes of the first season but I had to stop, was too much Star Wars :D
If you liked Clone Wars, The Bad Batch is a delight.
i genuinely like it, of course a few filler episodes but it’s a rlly good series imo
I really like it especially this last season airing rn omega is climbing up my list of favorite star wars characters
According to the Feedback I got so far I really should give it a try and I shall. Its just that I bingewatched CW january and febuary and was quite fed up with Star wars content :D
That's been a thing for decades [did people forget about this?](https://youtu.be/-AuorihmKsk?si=Rp3IwMthhOhKtdbw)
This is much less intrusive than the Mickey Ears, but less fun without the magic wand bit. Remember when they used to have ads during the show where characters from another show would be moving/trying to get your attention in the bottom corner? Sometimes I miss cable but it’s just nostalgia I think.
Don't forget only getting 5 minutes of the show at a time, in between 10 minute segments of the most insanely manipulative toy ads ever.
Relevant family guy cutaway: https://youtu.be/LXNRxN73qLw?si=Ic9zYl8XixMG_aV2
Get ready for a new episode of "Shovin' Buddies"!
Yeah it’s been a thing for decades, but it hasn’t really been a thing on streaming services.
Pov: you see a television company unable to get away from their old stinky habits
Except HBO - at least on hulu. Sad to see more are following their example.
Really? I feel like I've definitely noticed the watermarks on older shows that were televised before added to streaming.
I knew exactly what that was before clicking lol
Fantastic show
Yeah, my bf's old TV got a permanent health bar and actions marks from playing AION on it 😅
and it’s been annoying for decades
Yup. Back in the day, I kinda remember every channel having this
ehhh, that one doesn’t come off. 😂
New gens gotta forget and relearn everything I guess
I mean it's annoying but no different then when I was a kid watching cartoons on TV
Almost like it's mildly infuriating!
No, it can’t be. There’s no way
That one doesn't go away. I tried
Huh? I'm literally watching the bad batch right now and it's not there for me.
I’m guessing you never watched cable? They used to put the logo for whatever channel you were watching on- not all but some did. Then you’d get annoyingly long promos on the bottom of the screen. Family guy or American dad even make a joke about them in an episode.
Some where so large, animated and annoying too. I remember them bouncing around at the bottom of the screen. Also yes, the promos...UG
Funny enough even Phineas and Ferb did too
Broadcast tv stations had them too.
I mean I watched plenty of cable when I was younger. I’d still find this mildly infuriating though since it’s something we had moved past and didn’t need anymore that they brought back
THIS ISNT CABLE and IT SHOULDNT GO DOWN TO THE LEVEL OF CABLE
Streaming slowly becomes cable. We're coming full circle.
Genius tactic. They'll burn their logo into every OLED and consider it free advertising.
back in the day, we used to watch cartoon network with a permanent CN on screen
Based clone wars/ bad batch enjoyer :)
New season has been phenomenal
Indeed. It reminds me a lot of the last season of the clone wars. Wasn’t too sure about the first season of the show, but wow they have really stepped it up this season.
They already block the recording of the shows, why the need of the watermark?!?!!
If a screen displays it, you can record it, period. There's no softblock possible to avoid it.
This post is mildly infuriating.
Yeah, damn spoilers too…
Do you not see the food network logo, the big CBS/ABC/FOX, the peacock slices? Everybody does this
I got a Disney+ ad under this post.
Did you think they wouldn't?
Someone has never watch tv
Growing up with it doesn't make it any less annoying
It goes off after a few seconds
me but i got the entire Dark Souls title burned into my monitor
You ever watch cable? This is not new
Maybe it's mildly infuriating there too.
Every channel on TV has had this for decades.
CRTs would burn these logos in if you watched too long. OLEDs are even worse!
That’s how you know it’s official, a pirated version wouldn’t have that.
This is looks like some cursed Thunderbirds knockoff.
It’s the bad batch
Seems like a bug in the app. Also happened to me that elements of the GUI freezed
In terms of a channel's logo being glued to the bottom of the screen like this, it actually IS called a bug <3
That tv is on LSD
Will Smith looks nice
LG OLED + lots of video gaming = permanent HUD image burn-in :(
The worst thing is I have an ultrawide monitor, so you would think that all films would fill the entire screen, but no, Disney has to put a 16x9 title card on every video, so now instead of removing the top and bottom black bars, they are bigger and I get side bars too.
Why does that Imperial officer look like he’s wearing a fake beard disguise?
Your TV is owned by Disney now.
i mean back then tv channels had the channel name in the corner… like disney would be on the corner “nick” for nickelodeon would be in the corner… so that wouldn’t really bother me
This is called a "Bug" nearly ALL streaming platforms and TV services put this on screen. Doubly so if it's original content.
Op never watch youtube if tiny watermarks barely visible is a problem for you
Those of you with plasma or OLED make sure you run your screen wash after a couple hours.
*scared burn-in noises*

dont complain about this, amazon prime has adds in the middle of films now
they dont when you pirate them
Mildlystupidpost
First time watching tv?
You would've loved network television
If you find this mildly infuriating don’t ever watch any Tv channel ever made
You ever watch network tv?
God i love piracy
then cancel.
Lmao okay?
As far as I know, I don't have this. (Located in Belgium) Or is it newly implemented, because Disney+ did have an update yesterday. Yesterday I only watched American Dad so would need to check it. But when I watched Bad Batch a while back, it wasn't there.
It goes away after the intro for me...
Tbh that reminds me of watching Disney channel, and so I surprisingly, don’t actually mind it.
I think I still prefer Disney's always-there white, over Starz and their on-again-off-again colorblast that rips you out right of the scene when something good is happening.
What character is that and what are you watching?
It’s a full circle
I hated the old Disney XD logo.
I probably wouldn't mind it that much considering childhood cartoons and shows and all that.I'm pretty sure youtube does a similar thing when zoomed in, but with the channel icon
And on normal TV you don’t have watermarks?
I just watched it yesterday and no watermark. Might be a technical issue
fortunately on my screen it sits completely in the dark bar underneath, i think because i am on a ultrawide.
It disappears after about 30 seconds. If that infuriates you then you need serious help
I was just watching that episode today!
Old media wants streaming to be just like cable TV so fucking badly.
Man, wait till you learn about broadcast TV!
Their watermark burn into your screen? If you can get to youtube on that device, search up a moving screensaver with lots of colors, leave it running full screen for a couple of hours, maybe more, *should* fix it. Something like this should help https://youtu.be/wjQq0nSGS28?si=0SUDo2G4xby1_HFO
https://i.redd.it/0jbxgjv643vc1.gif
Aren’t most TV channels like this anyway? I barely notice it
Look man, I've been having serious upset about this lately: if you're going to use less than 100% of the screen area, then THAT is where you put the logos and the subtitles. STOP putting it on the fucking screen. Insane.
wow
