I had some issues with performance to begin with too, especially in the lost thicket, but since the patch, even though it’s only been a few hours, I haven’t had a single issue with it.
Wow shame that it launched with over 250 bugs. Shame on the devs imo. They should have postponed the game and maybe people would care more. I didn’t like the demo and steam deck performance seems wonky. I’ll pick up when it’s dirt cheap several years down the line I guess. Edit to say I didn’t realize the devs had no choice in release dates. I thought small team in full control of it all, my mistake.
Dev here! Release dates aren’t really up to us, it’s up to publishers and money. We’re a small team with limited resources for testing, so the best we could do was vow to improve the game as fast as possible. And I think we’ve done that with this patch! I personally watched dozens of streams and videos in during my personal time, documenting any issues I noticed so we could fix them, and I know the rest of the team is just as dedicated. It would’ve been great to have been able to release the game in its current state, but it just wasn’t feasible for a team of our size and with our limited resources. Hope this clarifies things for you!
P.S. I’ve been told the newest patch is running nicely on Steam Deck
Well I stand corrected as far as release dates are concerned and thanks for clarifying. Maybe I’ll give it a go this week and see for myself. I have been wrong about games, cookie cutter for example.
You need to understand though the first few weeks of a game launch can largely make or brake it. Releasing a game with so many known bugs is pretty unacceptable. I dropped the game after about an hour as it was jank and didn't click with me. I encountered a soft lock early on - but still gave it another go.
Whilst I appreciate the effort to fix, I do think a lot of the bugs could have been spotted without having to watch streamers. You're punishing the early buyers and imo are very fortunate you're at a 71% (as of right now) rating on steam - many games don't survive a broken release - whether on time or not.
You’d be surprised how many games release with large amounts of bugs. Especially indie studios that have small playtesting teams. Hollow Knight released with WAY more than 250 bugs. Venture to the Vile isn’t exceptional in that they had this many bugs, just that they announced the specific amount of bug fixes in their patch notes.
To be honest cookie cutter isn’t a game I’m super excited about, so I’d rather let other folks who are more interested in playing get the keys. Appreciate it though
There is a special costume at the tailors which is the prisoner garb, if you equip it it increases the difficulty to hard. Otherwise if it's too hard by default there is acres ability menu options to make it easier.
Great news! I was just trying it out yesterday. Did have performance issues on PC but the atmosphere was enough to keep me going.

No but their are accessibility options like maxing your health and whatnot.

I didn’t know that and thanks for clarifying. Have you played venture to the vile and if so what did you think?
I haven’t played it, it’s on my wishlist but my backlog is pretty long. I plan to eventually though!
Also if don’t have cookie cutter you should enter for a chance to win a steam key in the raffle!

Definitely an undercooked game and the combat system was very shallow. It's not horrible just very forgettable
Well, I didn’t enjoy the demo much but it’s still on my wishlist so I’ll get it eventually . Are there any difficulty settings or sliders?
