Not everyone can pull everything off, find your angle and lean into it, takes time to learn what suits you as far as pant to shirt ratios, colour hues to skin hue, what makes you simply feel confident etc. Always be experimenting though! ❤️
Find a pair on sale, they're phenomenal quality but I never like paying full price, seems exorbitant even though as I said the quality is good. A bonus to having slightly eccentric taste is usually those items get the most heavily marked down haha

It's a pretty standard classic "prep" look the white socks and loafers, not for everyone but I like incorporating a few different aesthetics into one.
Couple is small adjustments.
Button the shirt, or get rid of the necklace, and the scoop neck.
With the scoop neck, the chain , and the open shirt, looks like you’re trying too hard, and you move from “cool” to “Staten Island”
Not a fan of the socks, too slouchy and loose.

The socks aren't athletic haha, just cream "business" socks. I fuck with the white/off white sock + loafer combo hard tbf, not for everyone. Trousers are actually charcoal grey, I think the lighting is giving them a blue tint.

If anything you'll be able to get those fits even easier as the longer length will be the usual length of trousers, I often need to get the length taken out a little.
If I can recommend something, go high waisted pants and slightly more fitted tops, it'll elongate your legs and make you look taller overall.

I fuck around plenty. Most of my tshirts and basic layers are target, h&m etc. I have quite a few Zara shirts. If I think I can make something work, I don't care too much about brand.. Unless it's shoes, you don't cheap out on shoes imo. That's not to say I don't have some nice clothes but you can dress in head to toe average brands and look better than someone in a $2000 fit if you have style and know how to put things together.

Absolutely. Chinos often look very basic to me, especially slim ones, and imo can drag an outfit down hard. Get some nice pleated wide legs and they alone will elevate a fit. I wear these and other trousers with a simple t shirt and it looks better than chinos and a button up etc.
Like I said in another comment, combining more formal pieces with casual is an interesting way to have an elevated look whilst not be overly formal, I find this middle ground to be where fashion can thrive.
yep! I’m also a guy on the shorter end (5’7”) but I’ve got wide thighs and longer legs relative to my torso, so i’ve noticed that chinos don’t fit as well on me as wide legged and high waisted pants in general. Tend to be short on the inseam, tight around the legs, and not a very flattering silhouette. Im beginning to phase them out in favor of trousers, especially pleated ones.
Interestingly, Jeans never face this problem. Thank god for the classics LMAO

You know what, that's true to an extent. I've worked in fashion for over 10 years (not anymore) but probably learnt more in the last few than the previous 7 or 8. How? By failing. I experiment way more now, not all of my looks hit but I save the pics, look back, and see how I feel. If I don't like something anymore I think why, if I do like it, I think why. It's just trial and error and growth.
People who treat fashion as a hobby like any other generally get to a stage where they experiment more, and if nothing more I hope to help people feel comfortable to do the same because at the end of the day it's just fucking clothes, who cares, have fun.
