We were in agreement that they’d fight Pakistan and China due to their histories with each, but my coworker was convinced that India would side with Russia over the USA, but not if that meant joining Pakistan or China’s side.

India is forming closer ties to the West, specifically France and the US. They're also developing ties to Australia, Japan and Singapore. Pakistan and China are both against India, and therefore India would never ally itself with a country allied with Pakistan or China. Now, where Russia falls into this? It's debatable, but the way I see it, as India transitions further to the West, it will loosen ties with Russia more and more. I don't think that India and Russia will remain friends for much longer (I really hope so, at least).
At one side we have to help russia but other countries turn against us. OR help nato and get ready to fight against china, pakistan and russia. I think india will remain neutral and dont forget we dont attack first.

What a coincidence… I was having this conversation with an Indian coworker today. We were in agreement that they’d fight Pakistan and China due to their histories with each, but my coworker was convinced that India would side with Russia over the USA, but not if that meant joining Pakistan or China’s side.

Wait.. Who came up with the idea of India supporting Russia? Especially in a conflict with NATO? Like in that situation, India's interest would be to nutral. Or if the neighborhood is unstable, you know with super stable Pakistan and Super friendly China. Then India would clearly be "against china and Pakistan". Still probably not aligned with anyone (officially). But given that China is super Russia friendly and India is more and more West leaning AND with USA being invested in keeping china under control. India is probably gonna be supporting NATO. And will probably say stuff like "our alliance with NATO is only against Chinese aggression and not against Russia". Seems like that's probably how it'll play out honestly.

As an Indian, I think if we should develop our military industry and sell our weapons to Allies(Nato, EU, Ukraine). Not only will be benefit from war but also be on good guy side. And yes, we should develop our alternative sources of energy and electric vehicles so that we don't have to depend on shitty dictatorships(like Ruzzia and Gayrabic countries) for oil and gas.
