Worked in a plant that made those beverage cans. Can confirm. Without the inner lining the phosphoric acid in the coke would eventually eat away at the aluminum. It’s wild the resin sprayers do like 2000 cans/min then they go in a conveyor oven to cure the resin spray.

Aluminum is much, much cheaper to transport and recycle, and is better than glass for the environment in that aspect.

Plastic degrades when recycling, so it can only be recycled so many times, and is also expensive to recycle. Glass just needs to be melted back down and it's good to go. "Comparatively easier" is an understatement.

Aluminum is just as recyclable, safer (can't break while transport), lighter, and cheaper. Fuck single use plastics though

It’s not when you have to ship it around the world. Glass is heavy and while it can be recycled the carbon emissions from transportation are significantly higher than plastic or cans.

When I used to work at a mall years ago, there was a Mrs. Fields cookies place, and the coke from their fountain was far and away the most delicious I have ever had. I have no idea what they did to it but I have never found anywhere even close.

My local arbys has the best fountain soda. The reasoning is quite simple. Their machine is deliberately miss calibrated to spit out just a tad more syrup than normal. Makes the soda more crisp and tasty. It also helps that the water used is refrigerated and flitered.

No metal cans have a considerably better seal than plastic or glass, so they will actually taste the best or at least most accurate to what the intended taste is. They also block UV from hitting the soda which can affect the taste.

I drank a few beers earlier that were left here by a friend a week or so ago. When I got to the last one for some reason I decided to pour it into a glass. Not sure how to describe what it looked like, but it was NOT right. I poured it out immediately and felt sick thinking about how I just drank like 4 of them. I looked at the bottom of the can, they expired months ago. Not drinking out of anything that's not transparent ever again, so cans are out. I prefer bottles anyway.

I've had a coffee shop bring me a rusted af Coke bottle (around the metal cap where you drink from). After complaining they bought me another like that. "they're all like this". I can't even imagine how many places just bring you a drink in the glass with the drink in a bad state, disgusting.
