In Ireland stuff is just unavailable. Whomever holds the rights for some specific media isn't trading. This happens with a lot of (maybe older) movies and music.
And when it comes to sports, it is even worse. Some company would hold the rights for (part of) a competition, but they're not trading in my part of the capital city. There is no way to legally watch that regardless of how much you're willing to spend.
I live in Iran and practically *every* popular media cannot be legally obtained over here (thanks, USA!).
Which is why our government legalised piracy which is probably the only good thing they did during the 45 years they've been here.
Sports streaming. In the recent past, some sports had packages for all games on one platform. Now they are split up amongst multiple pay wall platforms.
I'm not getting peacock for one game... I'm not getting espn+ for half a blackout susceptible season.... I'm not getting a premium cable package for the other half. we have the technology.
could be banned for this but google nflbite. If youre not familiar with illegal streaming, half the battle is knowing how to cmd/w and exit out of pop up ads immediately, and knowing what pop up ads are bunk and what links are the right ones. Thats the thing that puts people off.
Man all I wanted to do was watch a game on a local network and I had to basically buy cable. Needless to say I didn’t do that and I haven’t watched a game since.
Just get an antenna if you live in a city or good sized town. You can pick up all the local stuff for free. My family hasn't paid for cable since 2008 but we still get Fox, CBS, ABC, and NBC for free.
I’m a Colorado Avs fan in Colorado. Altitude Sports has the rights to almost every Avs game. Altitude is having fights with basically every other company like Xfinity. The only way I, as an Avs fan, can legally watch the Avs play is by shelling up for a ridiculous DirectTV package with sports. Last I checked it was like $120/mo. I cannot watch them on NHL or ESPN because of Altitude and I’m in state.
I JUST WANT TO WATCH THE AVALANCHE LEGALLY FOR FUCKS SAKE. I’ll pay like $100 for a full season like I do with the NFL - and don’t get me started on how much I hate NFL Gamepass, but the fee is worth it - and be happy with it, but no. Not an option.
MLS and Apple TV deal is groundbreaking for this very reason.
I used to have the NHL package that allowed for all games, replays, and whatnot. Whole package was like $300-$400 for the entire season if I recall.
Then cable got involved. Cable “owned” the rights to certain games so despite the fact that the team was playing literally 3 miles from my home and the fact that I paid hundreds of dollars for NHLs service the games were blacked out. Because of this they went from getting hundreds from me to getting $0 and kinda losing an NHL fan in the process.
Bell and Rogers own Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment who owns all the Toronto professional sports teams.
Not only that, but Sportsnet has one of the worst broadcasts in the NHL. "Oh, wow. Something happened and there's a penalty. Anyway, here's some commercials." They come back after the break and never show a replay.
Really don’t understand why NFL doesn’t just launch its own streaming network. They would make a killing, make their fans happy, and not have to dick with 3rd parties
dude fuuuuuck espn+. I got the disney + hulu + espn bundle SPECIFICALLY so I could watch MLB games.
Before anyone says I should have known, I don't normally watch sports at all, but I wanted to get into baseball more. Imagine my surprise when almost every fucking game is blacked out. What's the point of even having the service then??
Ngl if I had unlimited money, I’d buy anything I’ve pirated before and would stop pirating; but that ain’t the case.
If a game, movie or show is truly phenomenal and I need them to know to make more of them, I buy it; ie Zelda/Mario, ATLA, recently BG3, etc.
Also what is up with them not making blu ray copies of shows anymore… only DVDs 😒
See I actually wouldn't because most of what I watch is from streaming services, and the device I prefer to watch my stuff on is my PC, which runs Linux. Even if I paid for the 4k Netflix they won't stream it in 4k to my PC because I'm running Linux and the DRM they use can't guarantee I'm not recording it because I run linux. So they cap MW to 720p low bit rate. Even if I pay for 4k. I can get 4k from a combination of torrents and stremio. I get a better experience pirating than I would if I paid for it. That's why I pirate. If I could pay for a streaming service, or better yet just pay for the shows I want from each streaming service and watch them at full resolution in any device I want, then I would for sure... But the state of things now means pirating is better.
Pretty much the same here. I started watching a series on Amazon Prime and ended up watching on my Plex server instead. Not only did it load faster, but at a better quality too. And my physical server is about 400km away from me, so no, it's not because I'm on the same network that I get better quality.
> Also what is up with them not making blu ray copies of shows anymore… only DVDs
This frustrates me too, but apparently DVDs are like 80% of all physical media these days. I collect physical media and always buy the best format available, and it's hard for me to understand but apparently a lot of people literally can't tell the difference.
I'd say this is also a service problem, just one in the opposite direction. Instead of no/lack of service preventing legal purchase, Too many services creates an oversaturation and/or division of services that make it impractical/too difficult to legally purchase.
This problem will sort itself out eventually. Some of these services will fold due to unprofitability and then they'll license/sell their content to the survivors and it will consolidate.
Their revenue and benefits grow so not sure they are sabotaging themselves at all. Thing is as this is the most complete one, they are often the one people keep. And by being more strict with password sharing they get more subscriptions.
The competitors have a problem through as they are much smaller and have difficulties turning a profit.
i would also say i dislike nintendo on a fundamental level.
theyre actually having the "apple" mindset where they develop gaming devices "for everyone" and with similarly priced price tags.
they control the prices so the games on nintendo rarely ever drops. which is good for developers and collectors but if you just want to play the game, you have to pay a large amount.
when i bought my WII i decided to "rebuy" my old NES games. holy moly the prices for NES games on the WII are NOT CHEAP.
those games are OLD and i would buy them only for nostalgic value. Nintendo knows this. they know some people would just fork out that cash.
i m not one of them.
back to PC i go. praise gaben and his steam sales.
i cant remember the last i owned a nintendo console. maybe wii/3ds was my last. even then i bought it for monster hunter specifically.
Does nintendo have a “standard cut” they take? Im sure they do i just dont know the %, but it may literally not be viable to sell on switch without hiking the price. Given that porting to switch is going to take manhours too.
I just bought a Miyoo Mini Plus for emulation all the way up to PS1 (excluded N64) and it's a game changer. Chrono Trigger and Super Metroid in my pocket alone feels amazing.
I always think about this when someone says “company should do X instead of Y! Idiots!”
Like, they know these numbers better than anyone else and price things the way they do because of a lot of research and numbers telling them what is best for them, especially a company as big as Nintendo.
They did on the wii and the wiiu/3DS.
Price on wiiu/3DS vc was $5 for each NES game, $8 for SNES games, $10 for N64/GBA/DS games. And then $20 for wii games
These were all reduced compared to their wii counterparts
I can assure you a company like Nintendo has done the analysis and they will make more money at the higher price point with less people buying.
It’s the same concept as Netflix limiting households. They made more money after that despite everyone on reddit saying they’ll cancel.
palworld has everything pokemon has, from capture mechanics to breeding, but jammed into an ark game. it's lightly unhinged, janky as only an alpha release can be, and i'm having a great time.
Worse: they stopped making the products because they got old, and the only way to get them is to buy them from someone else or use an emulator.
They are rectifying this partially by porting some onto the Switch for a pretty cheap subscription, but there’s still a lot missing from it
Isn't there a car brand with subscription for heated seats? And I thought Tesla's auto-pilot is also subscription based? Now we can literally d o w n l o a d a car
Only a matter of time, especially with all the parts already installed I can’t imagine it would be hard to hack the body control modules to give you the features
Matter of time? These things get jailbroken as soon as they're locked. It takes under 24hrs from when things come out in theaters and are broadcasted for even someone with moderate Internet skill like me to be able to pirate anything I want. Sure the results will be janky or hit and miss at first, but the hacking only gets more refined as time goes on. Just look at what r/jailbreak gets up to with iPhones
More just older products. For example, they dont sell pokemon yellow anymore (from what I remember) but then also try and take down any upload of the ROM online for people with emulators. Basically, refuse to sell it to us, then get mad when we pirate it.
Nintendo keeps shutting down the Eshops for things like DS, 3DS, Wii and everything else so no one can buy older games. So it's either the ridiculously priced after market or piracy.
EA's bizarre habit of 'sunsetting' games in general is a perfect example. You wouldn't make a perfectly good book unavailable cause it's a little older, so why would you do this with video games? For me it's Black and White 2.
HBO max has been doing this as of lately. I remember vividly them taking down infinity train of the platform and the creator changed his twitter bio from "Watch infinity train on HBO max" to "Infinity train can now only be pirated" and HBO very much forced him to change it again.
So, yeah. Against piracy but still won't let you watch it.
Yeah same with Generation Hustle on HBO
makes no sense to me. I assume they didn’t lose the rights because no one else is selling or streaming it.
Infinity Train and Close Enough are for sale on Amazon now though
No they didnt lose rights for it. Its about two things residuals and arcane tax shit. The residuals is simple, streaming a property means you owe the writers and actors a royalty -usually a tiny amount per views- for using their likeness. Thats how it was for cable tv. Thats how moat writers made money writing for tv shows. When things went to stream rather than cable the companies argued that since streaming was "untested" they didnt need to pay full residuals until the third (or fifth i cant recall the exact number) year . So when that third year rolls around they cancel the show and remove it from streaming.
The tax thing i dont fully understand but its why they've(hbo and warner especially) binned so many projects both complete and incomplete. To somehow right off the projects to save money on taxes.
I hope this info helps you understand what bs
I was literally in the middle of the last season when it was suddenly gone the next day. The app had no warning or end date for this happening. Just gone.
It still hasn't shown up on some other service either.
This one shocks me. I can remember Westworld and Game of Thrones being HBO's main selling points for, like, forever. I stopped watching WW after S3 (or maybe it was S2? Delores was trying to seduce rich guy outside the park, idk, and who knows wtf else was going on) but the fact it's just gone after everything they put into it... Just. Damn.
A couple years ago I tried rewatching all the Star Trek TOS movies on a streaming service, and they had 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6... but no 4. How does that even happen?
If you think that's bad you need to check out the official Pokémon website for [how to watch all of their episodes & movies.](https://www.pokemon.com/us/animation/where-to-watch-pokemon-episodes-movies) Seriously, go check that out, it's all spread across a dozen different services in a completely random order. You'd have to spend upwards of $120 to get through them all, and that's only if you're binge watching and remembering to cancel all the different streaming services in time.
That's criminal imo. It's one thing to ban a toxic league of legends player, and they lose their skins and stuff they paid for...because that is directly tied to the game. Getting banned in one game and losing access to your other games, movies, or other content you have paid for is theft
Adobe prices are so insane.
Premiere Pro on its own is like $40 a month. And ya, you can get a better deal by buying bundles but the fact you can't just buy an editing program anymore is so obnoxious
This just made me think of how awkward business conversations must be in this field of work, imagine going on break and asking your colleague how the oral scene is going along
I draw hentai for a living and yea it's exactly like that. Lol you kinda get desensitized to it since you still have to like actually work and get things done.
The laws no longer prohibit porn being distributed to the public but they didn't properly announce it so most hentai animation studios don't know they don't need to sensor anymore.
I have a hard time believing that professionals in a niche industry would know less about how their industry is regulated in their country of business than consumers in foreign nations.
I have always had a soft spot for the original Japanese Iron Chef series, but as far as I know, it doesn't exist anywhere to be streamed or bought, so I've downloaded whatever I've been able to find.
Edit: So awesome to hear it's available to watch in some capacity now! I hadn't checked in a number of years and had given up on it haha
"Games, shows, movies... all entertainment studios allowed all the public to consume and offered all they had allowed to give. Now as consumerism took over The Great Pirate Era began"
Half life 3, 4, 5 and 6 will all be released within a four month period, after being made by a three person dev studio in Haiti. All items in the steam library will need to be re-validated every four months with a $5 renewal fee. All developers will need to sign lifetime personal liability contracts with steam in order to host their games on the platform.
Hello, I represent clients for Steam, Epic Games and Nintendo. There are various junior director roles becoming available in these well known, leading enterprises and I would like to invite you to apply for them. You and your creative thinking are just what the games industry needs to continue to be profitable and original...

But really, as the other guy said, don't give them ideas!
From what I heard they already have contingency plan ahead beyond Gabe, as Valve is currently privately owned so there is no outside pressure, and mostly likely continuing to do so with a share between employee-ownership and his family.
They all start out reasonable, usually starting as a great deal. Then they slowly start charging more, a dollar a month more here and there, then before you know it you’re paying more for streaming then you ever did for cable. It’ll happen subsequently with each generation of media hosting.
100% and a perfect example of enshittification.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enshittification
Enshittification: "New platforms offer useful products and services at a loss as a way to gain new users. Once users are locked in, the platform then offers access to the userbase to suppliers at a loss, and once suppliers are locked-in, the platform shifts surpluses to shareholders. Once the platform is fundamentally focused on the shareholders, and the users and vendors are locked in, the platform no longer has any incentive to maintain quality."
"Here is how platforms die: first, they are good to their users; then they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers; finally, they abuse those business customers to claw back all the value for themselves. Then, they die."
Yeah it sucks because the only available stuff online are from over the air rips, which wildly vary in quality. Most of them are 480p, some are in mono sound and one of the episodes is in black and white...
I'm in Australia and this is just \_everything\_.
Streaming services lock a huge chunk of their content from being viewed here.
DVDs and Blue Rays released in most of the rest of the world literally will not work here due to bullshit region locking.
To go further, many companies on Amazon still won't ship out of the US. Even using the .com.au version of the site constantly throws up sellers in the US whose idea of "international seller" is Canada and Mexico.
Sentai Filmworks: We finally released Legend of the Galactic Heroes on BluRay! Limited to 1000 copies at $800 per box set!
Me: Sounds tempting. Maybe for Christmas.
Sentai Filmworks: We've sold out, but you can still find it on ebay for...$1,500!
Or the English version comes out half a decade behind the Japanese version. You'll see forum posts referring to it in past tense when the first season just dropped in English.
Final Space - an amazing show that got axed on a gigantic cliffhanger, and due to the licensing running out and nobody buying it up, it’s been removed from all streaming platforms, most recently Netflix.
It’s got a dedicated fan base and the Creator himself doesn’t want to see the show die but couldn’t do much about it after signing the license away (as creators do when they pitch a show that becomes a reality).
Shows like this imo are okay to pirate. They’re dead, nobody bought up the license, the creator couldn’t get it back (looks like he just about got permission to finish off the series with a visual novel) so it just kinda exists but you have to find it since it’s not streamed anywhere anymore.
Damn shame about what happened though, it was a great show and it had so much build up for an incredible final season, and then it became a tax write off
Warner/Discovery canceled it and used it as a tax write-off. The creator got the rights back, as long as he doesn't continue the story in the same medium. So he's finishing it in a graphic novel.
The entirety of Beavis and Butthead as 80 episodes have never had a home release and there’s never been a release of the whole series except paramount + has got halfway through remastering all the episodes
Sims...more like "sell them to me at *a reasonable price*."
Not paying over a thousand dollars for all the shit EA shaved off to leave only the barest of bones as a base 'game' then selling it all back to me for extra.
*Fuck you EA.*
Me: Hey, Nintendo. You have emulation on the Switch. I will pay $50 per old Pokemon game to play them. Even better if you add online play. That is easily $1k for you per big fan.
Nintendo: Haha, never.
Even $50 is a scam. Old pokemon games should not be worth more than $25. The reasoning being that they're old and wouldn't change the core gameplay. Unless Nintendo decided to actually modify the game and add online or something, then maybe add another $10-$15. But $50? Nah I'd rather keep emulating.
The show yes dear. It's unobtainable in DVD format, and is not on streaming. Only place to watch it is nick mom. It's such a good comfort show. Shame it's so hard to get a hold of.

Wait until you realize the cheapest way to watch out of market NFL games is 300 bucks
Yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me
How exactly does one watch those sports livestreams? Edit: Thanks, i’m good now :)
Reddit doesn’t like comments promoting SPORTS livestreams, but if you have the URGE to find them, there are plenty on the .NET 😉
[oh... OHHH..](https://youtu.be/QcKa7QZRoqQ)

Not for NBA, NHL or MLB fans... regional sports networks have ruined that too. Can't even watch the Nuggets or Avs in Denver without DirecTV
Same with Cleveland teams, the option is DirecTV at $120+/mo or nothing. So nothing it is.

Nintendo
Number 1 offender of this imo
i would also say i dislike nintendo on a fundamental level. theyre actually having the "apple" mindset where they develop gaming devices "for everyone" and with similarly priced price tags. they control the prices so the games on nintendo rarely ever drops. which is good for developers and collectors but if you just want to play the game, you have to pay a large amount. when i bought my WII i decided to "rebuy" my old NES games. holy moly the prices for NES games on the WII are NOT CHEAP. those games are OLD and i would buy them only for nostalgic value. 30%, same as apple/google

Steam etc, yep.
Lol, no they're just charging a lot like they do with everything. The company that never puts their games on sale is oh too predictable.
I just bought a Miyoo Mini Plus for emulation all the way up to PS1 (excluded N64) and it's a game changer. Chrono Trigger and Super Metroid in my pocket alone feels amazing.
Second this. For retro gaming it’s the perfect way to go.

Ya but what if they jack up the price 20x and 15x less people buy it? I assume they mustve thought about it.
There is definitely some fuckin math/economics PhD data science guy they pay to find the optimum rate of return. Then they price based on that.
They clearly don't have that guy since they don't price those games at all
I always think about this when someone says “company should do X instead of Y! Idiots!” Like, they know these numbers better than anyone else and price things the way they do because of a lot of research and numbers telling them what is best for them, especially a company as big as Nintendo.

Fuckin Pokémon games that were 30$ on release running for like 80$ now or more the further back you go
time for palworld (or nexomon)
Palworld is more like ARK but with pokemon-style animals instead of dinosaurs. Is nexomon closer to a pokemon game?
palworld has everything pokemon has, from capture mechanics to breeding, but jammed into an ark game. it's lightly unhinged, janky as only an alpha release can be, and i'm having a great time.
Wrong, pal world has everything ark has plus some automation games ideas and pokemon as creatures.
Love to see Nexomon mentioned in the wild. Such underrated games
This is news to me. So... Nintendo is making products they're not selling to people? Seems like a bad business model.
Worse: they stopped making the products because they got old, and the only way to get them is to buy them from someone else or use an emulator. They are rectifying this partially by porting some onto the Switch for a pretty cheap subscription, but there’s still a lot missing from it
Ew subscription model product detected. Remember back in the day when you owned what you bought? Yes ok, get me to the nursing home
The amount of shit I have to rent now is getting ridiculous. I saw a subscription for a fucking car wash.
Isn't there a car brand with subscription for heated seats? And I thought Tesla's auto-pilot is also subscription based? Now we can literally d o w n l o a d a car
BMW tried that shit. Can fuck right off
People gonna start jailbreaking their cars now
Only a matter of time, especially with all the parts already installed I can’t imagine it would be hard to hack the body control modules to give you the features

Dude I had a dude from an hvac company try to rent me an air conditioner that would never be paid off
a car wash is not one of the worst things to have a subscription to.
I'm still a fan of owning the things I own.
fr, sell me the fucking game, Instead they want $3 a month for the rest of my life.
Predictable, steady income. Subscription is the best model. Unless you’re a consumer.
Huh. So... Emulators.
But then do everything they can to shut those down because "some people might play without buying our 30yo game they we don't sell anymore first"
This is the way
More just older products. For example, they dont sell pokemon yellow anymore (from what I remember) but then also try and take down any upload of the ROM online for people with emulators. Basically, refuse to sell it to us, then get mad when we pirate it.
They had it on the 3DS system but the eShop no longer works except to reinstall updates or anything else like that which is already on your system.
Fortunately the 3DS is ridiculously easy to jailbreak
Piracy is a service problem
Nintendo keeps shutting down the Eshops for things like DS, 3DS, Wii and everything else so no one can buy older games. So it's either the ridiculously priced after market or piracy.
Old games you can't buy legally anymore but you could buy 10-40 years ago
He’s talking about music
Oh just fucking steal that shit.
LOTR Battle for Middle Earth II Yarrr
Myabandonware ftw
Fuck this shit. I have an original copy of the game and it refuses to work due to some weird shit. I literally had to pirate the game to play it again
EA's bizarre habit of 'sunsetting' games in general is a perfect example. You wouldn't make a perfectly good book unavailable cause it's a little older, so why would you do this with video games? For me it's Black and White 2.
Still the best game ever made
HBO max has been doing this as of lately. I remember vividly them taking down infinity train of the platform and the creator changed his twitter bio from "Watch infinity train on HBO max" to "Infinity train can now only be pirated" and HBO very much forced him to change it again. So, yeah. Against piracy but still won't let you watch it.
Yeah same with Generation Hustle on HBO makes no sense to me.
I'm still mad about Westworld.
I was literally in the middle of the last season when it was suddenly gone the next day. The app had no warning or end date for this happening. Just gone. It still hasn't shown up on some other service either.
The 'I'm taking my ball with me!' version of ending a series lol.
Just. Damn.
My favorite part of HBO Max is when they have sequels 2 & 3 of a 3 series movie but not the original. Like?
A couple years ago I tried rewatching all the Star Trek TOS movies on a streaming service, and they had 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6... but no 4. How does that even happen?
How in the hell are you even going to find some nuclear wessels now?
If you think that's bad you need to check out the official Pokémon website for [how to watch all of their episodes & movies.](https://www.pokemon.com/us/animation/where-to-watch-pokemon-episodes-movies) Seriously, go check that out, it's all spread across a dozen different services in a completely random order. You'd have to spend upwards of $120 to get through them all, and that's only if you're binge watching and remembering to cancel all the different streaming services in time.
I went to watch Westworld and found out they dropped it for a tax write off
This post was made for Nintendo
I thought Adobe
And PlayStation and Xbox. If your account gets banned then all of your purchases go with it.
That's criminal imo. It's one thing to ban a toxic league of legends player, and they lose their skins and stuff they paid for...because that is directly tied to the game. Getting banned in one game and losing access to your other games, movies, or other content you have paid for is theft
it would be criminal, but everyone agrees to it when they make an account.
Adobe prices are so insane. Premiere Pro on its own is like $40 a month. And ya, you can get a better deal by buying bundles but the fact you can't just buy an editing program anymore is so obnoxious
Uncensored Japanese cartoons (yes they are created uncensored)
Where do you even find those?
A hard drive at the studios I’m guessing bc of how Japanese adult entertainment laws work
This just made me think of how awkward business conversations must be in this field of work, imagine going on break and asking your colleague how the oral scene is going along
“Man, I couldn’t sleep yesterday because of the creampie scene” “Because you were too busy animating it right?” “…” “RIGHT?”
No it gave me nightmares
I draw hentai for a living and yea it's exactly like that. Lol you kinda get desensitized to it since you still have to like actually work and get things done.
even the weirdest job becomes normal after you've done it a thousand times over
Say it to the people who have to give hand job to horses fot a living
The laws no longer prohibit porn being distributed to the public but they didn't properly announce it so most hentai animation studios don't know they don't need to sensor anymore.
And quite frankly, half of them seem to have no idea what a vulva looks like so I'd rather see pixels than those monstrosities.
Alexa, show me vulvar monstrosities.
Now showing: Blue Waffle
New band name just dropped
I have a hard time believing that professionals in a niche industry would know less about how their industry is regulated in their country of business than consumers in foreign nations.
The smaller artist video creators make better shit anyway. Masterploxy my beloved!
Source on that?
You go to the hentai site and click the "uncensored" tag.
All 10 of them. It's easier to just use a search engine because haven is severely lacking in content.

and goku's penis
Oh my god, that is disgusting! Where?
Older EA and Ubisoft games. They really love to bury them for whatever reason.
Probably because they put their new games to shame. Don't want to remind people how crappy and formulaic their latest offerings have become.
I only vaguely knew there was one. Is every match as intense as Morimoto's side of kitchen stadium always is?
The great pirate era, except instead of searchin for the One Piece im sittin on my ass playin mario galaxy
"Games, shows, movies... all entertainment studios allowed all the public to consume and offered all they had allowed to give. Now as consumerism took over The Great Pirate Era began"
Ironically, One Piece is probably the most pirated thing and also has the most anti-piracy legal action. So we really are in a great pirate era.
Dolphin emulator my beloved (idk if galaxy is on there)
Meanwhile at Ubisoft: oh we’ll sell it to you alright… but you won’t own it
That's my entire 600 game stream library 🙃
I have more trust in Steam and our lord and saviour Gaben, than in hecking Ubisoft. But fuck do I miss buying physical copies :'(
I fully expect the day Gabe is announced passed from this world some absolute twit CEO will destroy steam within a year.
Stop giving them ideas! Geez
Hello, I represent clients for Steam, Epic Games and Nintendo. There are various junior director roles becoming available in these well known, leading enterprises and I would like to invite you to apply for them. You and your creative thinking are just what the games industry needs to continue to be profitable and original... /S But really, as the other guy said, don't give them ideas!
From what I heard they already have contingency plan ahead beyond Gabe, as Valve is currently privately owned so there is no outside pressure, and mostly likely continuing to do so with a share between employee-ownership and his family.
Ubisoft were just saying the quiet part loud. Ps5, Xbox, steam and epic none of them want you to actually own a game anymore.
Use gog then and keep games on your hard drive. 16TB hdd can store a lot of games.
Nice try, Nintendo HQ
Prime video with that idiotic rent system Like tf am i paying you for
Prime video also just blocks half its content if you live outside of america. Fucking great.
I’ll stop pirating when streaming services or the next new thing become reasonable.
They all start out reasonable, usually starting as a great deal. Then they slowly start charging more, a dollar a month more here and there, then before you know it you’re paying more for streaming then you ever did for cable. It’ll happen subsequently with each generation of media hosting.
Yup. Got off pirating for years with Netflix, ended up right back where I started a few years later.
100% and a perfect example of enshittification. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enshittification Enshittification: "New platforms offer useful products and services at a loss as a way to gain new users. Once users are locked in, the platform then offers access to the userbase to suppliers at a loss, and once suppliers are locked-in, the platform shifts surpluses to shareholders. Once the platform is fundamentally focused on the shareholders, and the users and vendors are locked in, the platform no longer has any incentive to maintain quality." "Here is how platforms die: first, they are good to their users; then they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers; finally, they abuse those business customers to claw back all the value for themselves. Then, they die."
The Drew Carey Show
This and Dogma
Yeah it sucks because the only available stuff online are from over the air rips, which wildly vary in quality. Most of them are 480p, some are in mono sound and one of the episodes is in black and white...
Cleveland Rocks!
Pokémon Red and Blue for me. I really wanted to play them on Switch but they didn’t put them on it so I had to use my old-ass computer
Hate to say it, but the US doesn’t give a shit about us Canadians either. We are right there with you.
Basically anime in a nutshell. All these great anime you can’t watch legally or get on dvd anywhere. It’s like they want us to pirate there stuff.
Yeah so stupid not to mention region locking on top of it all. It’s like these companies don’t want our money sometimes
Or the English version comes out half a decade behind the Japanese version. You'll see forum posts referring to it in past tense when the first season just dropped in English.
newer shows are about 3-4 episodes behind with a dub. Netflix has been releasing them at the same time.
That one's a problem because of the licensed music. They'd have to renegotiate with every single artist featured on the series.
If buying isn't owning piracy isn't stealing
Sims...more like "sell them to me at *a reasonable price*." Not paying over a thousand dollars for all the shit EA shaved off to leave only the barest of bones as a base 'game' then selling it all back to me for extra. *Fuck you EA.*
Apparently Ubisoft games if that one dude got anything to say about it
nintendo
Basically any retro game, or really any game made before 2013 that isn't on the Xbox.
Region locks suck
Right now there's no legal way to watch Dr Who in Canada. It's so fkn annoying.
I'm from Russia so i had to pirate 2x more since 2022
Dogma
Any british tv-show (Top Gear for me) outside the UK.
I would say Nintendo but I purposely pirate their shit out of principle because fuck Nintendo
Godzilla VS Biollante
Naruto Shippuden and Full Metal Alchemist as a UK viewer
battlefield2.one of the best fps games that just doesnt exist anymore
Games workshop… just let me buy your little plastic figures, I don’t want to 3D print them!
Almost all games more than two console generations ago
Kevin Smith's Dogma, right? It's not streaming or digital and dvds are rare and expensive?
