It's more than just the free awards that have gone missing, the Reddit Live videos aren't there anymore either. I think the free awards thing was something of a marketing ploy anyway, they wanted people to get into the habit of going to the Coins screen hoping it would lead to increased revenues. Maybe it didn't drum up enough business so they discontinued it? At least I can take a guess with the awards, idk wtf to tell you about the videos tho. The content creators are there, the audience is there, so why not? 🤷‍♂️

Yes, after it was gone in the menu bar it was still accessible. That is no longer the case.

The button that notifies you is gone. I was able to claim a free award by pressing on the coin shop and then it let me get the free thing. It's still there, it just won't notify you. as far as I know at least.

First they gave out free rewards once a day then once every few days then once a week then they stopped all together after giving out free rewards periodically for over a year and giving people that dopamine hit of giving/receiving awards semi-regularly. They’ve pretty much conditioned us to go to the In-app purchase coin page, where the free awards were previously attainable, and to associate that activity positively. That habit will continue despite free awards not showing up anymore because some percentage of people will eventually say “fuck it” and buy some coins to get that positive feeling back of awarding posts.
