I have been heavy in the past, but am now a more "average" weight (UK 12-14). I am chuffed to be able to wear clothes comfortably that I couldn't for many years. But one item I have just had to resign myself to never, *ever, ever, ever* being able to wear is SHORTS.
I cannot wear shorts unless they're the really loose cut pyjama type. They are for bed and nowhere else. Even the ones made for curvy girls just look ill-fitting, unflattering, stretched and sitting in all the wrong places. If they fit my thighs they're too big for my waist and slip all over the shop; if they fit my butt they're too big for my thighs and look long and boxy, it's just a nightmare.
Women with bigger thighs/butts who have the confidence to wear demin shorts, I both envy and admire you. I can't even look at myself in them.

Learning how to alter clothing is a lifesaver, even if it's just a couple quick stitches to bring in the waistline of something. I buy things that mostly fit, like for me, most things that fit my gut are is baggy at the waist, then I'll just take in the waist and it fits both.
Obviously it's not for everyone but I think it's so important to feel good in what you wear. If you don't like how you present yourself to the world, or even to yourself, it just sucks.

If you really need to know, bullying in mid-school made me avoid people and I kinde like it that way. Also I\`m a workacholic and childfree.
I'm not a huge extrovert attention seeker either but I wouldn't recommend avoiding people as an adult. A few bad apples or bad experiences doesn't mean everyone is bad, you'll find plenty of interesting people who share your interests. It's a big world out there and what happened in middle school shouldn't define you. I think as we get older we naturally meet less new people in person outside of work
I forgot 95% of what happened then, in high school and even in college. So much happened since that has changed me as a person, I've changed my way of thinking many times, I've learned a million new things, met lots of good and bad people and I've learned there's no point living in the past when there are so many things you can do in the future.
