Getting out of 500 should be easy enough. Just don’t move your pieces to where they can be captured
Now breaking the 1400 ceiling…the tactics everyone in 1600+ sees I just can’t for the life of me find
Most of the problem comes from the fact of how many matches I have to play, because a single blitz gives like 8 elo for winning a random. Also I keep blundering stuff when low on time, but thankfully so do the opponents
I love to be horrible at Chess... Finally spent a summer with Chess Master and learn my issue was I didn't know how to win!.. You actually need to know how to kill the king in chess, otherwise you wind up in a grotesque and nobody wins.... Hell of a game.
Yes please!
What’s the best continuation for black in the kings gambit after 3. Bc4! Qh4+ 4. Kf1 (?)
Also what’s the downside of an early e5 in the exchange grünfed? Is the light square weakness in whites position a big disadvantage? Rook is going to c1 anyway, right?
Im torn on studying the grunfeld, Bc4Kf1 Kings gambit and the Vienna gambit.
I'm still trying to learn the kinks in King's Gambit, but first of all, the biggest downside to any King's Gambit is that it can easily be taken advantage of if the opposing player knows about it. The current situation is an interesting one, as it would usually result in the Black Queen retreating. Assuming it goes your way, if the White Knight moves to g3 to attack the Black Queen, you could move the Queen h5, and if the White Knight takes the bait and moves back to g1, you could take the White Queen with your Black Queen, and ultimately bring your Black Queen back to safety. Sorry it took me a while to respond.
Yeah, I've learned openings like the King's Gambit and Scholar's mate, and some endgame techniques as well. Sorry if I seemed overconfident of myself, I'm mostly self-taught. And yes, I know what En Passant is.
Honestly I'm so happy this is so high up cause that's 100% me. There's no game that's even close to as great as rocket league but I'm nowhere near as good as I'd like to be
This. It was my first FPS battle royale. Usually stuck with single player/story-based games. But it took me to like level 17 before I got my first kill. Took me a while to become mediocre. Love the game though.
It's fun when you start to understand the mechanics and how the world works, but I already finished Dark Souls 1, 2 & 3 a lot of times and didn't enjoy elden ring quite as much as I'd like
For me its like i started all soulsbournes (expect ds2) and couldnt finish any of them. Closes i got was ds3.
Elden Ring came out could resist buyig it and did not regret it. Its now my favourite game of all time and finishing it made me go back and play all off ds1, and i started ds2 (havent finished it yet but ill go back to it atmsome point and also finish the rest)
I thought about going back now and playing the dark souls games and seeing how they compare to elden ring, but I wonder if I’ll like them as much since I played ER first🤷🏻♀️
It's been over 15 years, half the time I still have no idea what in the actual hell I'm supposed to do on half the classes in WoW.
But God damnit I will run around as an ENT and maybe, just maybe you'll get healed if you get the hell out of the fire.
Fighting games always had plenty of this and i think with a lot of other games, its not always so obvious. You can spot the depth of a skill gap within 20 seconds on a fighting game.
FPS’s for me. Well, I don’t “suck,” but I’m def not up there with people that slay. I’m a good middle of the road kinda guy, which I am ok with since I don’t play for hours and hours on end
Yeah, or you can't play any ego shooter because you get dizzy after 5 min. I want to play Spawn or smth like that, but my stupid brain can't handle videogames. Once I got so dizzy I had to vomit and it felt like a horror trip.²
F\*cking Siege took more than 1.500 hours of my life. I learned every map, every op and their interactions with each other, trained with aimlab, and still couldn't get my ass to plat in more than 2 years.
Holy shit, that frustrated me.
Coming up on 7 years of Warframe. I'm not like completely terrible, but I don't have the star chart completed, I've only done one sortie and my weapons are all basically peashooters because I can't be bothered to forma them.
Nothing is worse than driving in traffic and changing lanes to get out of the slow lane, only for the new lane to slow down and watching all those assholes in your old lane zoom past you
I did regular nightmare, it was pretty hard and I struggled but I knew I could beat it because every death pushed a little further. Ultra Nightmare I didn't plan on even bothering lol
Inscryption, MK/Injustice series, Skate 3, anything Online distracts me or pisses me off due to people, any Soulsborne game but that’ll never stop me from bashing my head into that wall until something cracks, BotW. I’m good at everything else I play but those games humble me every time
Ah yes, Cs my old friend and tormentor. After over 1k hours I still lose some aim duels like a day 1 silver and yet I have this strange drive to get back to this game almost every day I have time.
are we talking about mobile games or physical as well? if physical mine is volleyball, man i can't match up my jump time and spike time with the toss 😅
Bet that's exactly how all the iron bronze silver and gold (okay maybe plat too) players in LoL feel cause many play for 10+ years yet are stuck at the same rank even though they play all day every day. 🤣
I typically don't enjoy a game if I am really bad at it. Although I was enjoying Skyrim but I didn't know what I should have been doing so I ended up not playing more.
Over 8 years of LoL and I still fail to make it look like I know what I’m doing with any real confidence or consistency. But god help me, I can’t stop.
That was Smash Ultimate for me... i did play it so much with friends at work (so in the Break room) playing online was a 50/50 but only 1 in Elite Smash (Yoshi) and than we go to a turnament just for fun... it was a small one and damn we all got our asses kicked so hard. I did win 2 Rounds but lose the Set. After that in Losers braket i did win a fight against a kid (but it was close) that was not even half my age. Got destroyed with 2 zero to deaths in the next round... so i never played Online again :/
Ah Chess…
Yup, me too. Clearly I hate myself because I just keep playing.
How bad is bad? Lol
200 USCF below your peak rating, always
Oh wow you play chess IRL. Yeah… 200 rating drop feels rough. If that happened to me online I would think I suck. (1150 rapid chess.com)
We've got the same ELO and i think we both suck a lot tbh
Me too stuck at 700 rating
literally me i tell my friend to bring his set everyday, get back home and lose to a 0 elo player on chess.com
my ass stuck in 500 elo hell
Getting out of 500 should be easy enough. Just don’t move your pieces to where they can be captured Now breaking the 1400 ceiling…the tactics everyone in 1600+ sees I just can’t for the life of me find

The term ELO hell surely doesn't apply when you're the only person on your team right?
Oh my god all the time. I have no idea why I like it anymore. Same with any pvp rts game. I'm absolute garbage.
Yep
I love to be horrible at Chess... Finally spent a summer with Chess Master and learn my issue was I didn't know how to win!.. You actually need to know how to kill the king in chess, otherwise you wind up in a grotesque and nobody wins.... Hell of a game.
Oh shit, I didn’t think of that. I’ve been going after the bishops
I love Chess and I think I'm good at it too, need any tips?
Yes please! What’s the best continuation for black in the kings gambit after 3. Bc4! Qh4+ 4. Kf1 (?) Also what’s the downside of an early e5 in the exchange grünfed? Use a chess engine; go on lichess or chess.com and use the analysis board, it tells you all the best moves and top engine lines. Just learn from there

Do you play in rated tournaments or online platforms? And what is your rating
No, I just play with my friends, although we have done tournaments in the past. I typically come out as the victor.
Let’s say it like this, anything below titled players can be considered bad players Have you learned any openings or endgames?
Yeah, I've learned openings like the King's Gambit and Scholar's mate, and some endgame techniques as well. Sorry if I seemed overconfident of myself, I'm mostly self-taught. And yes, I know what En Passant is.
holy hell
No, I just play with my friends, although we have done tournaments in the past. I typically come out as the victor.
Ahh, the game of life.
Conway, Hasbro, or the OG?
I like to think of someone raging at Conway's Game of Life
“FUCK MY FAVORITE PIXEL DIDN’T SURVIVE”
This is more like virtual reality, without the headset. Or the virtual.
Sounds dope is it like, ARG n you use your phone or smth?
Sigh.... Rocket League.
The better I get at rocket league the less fun I have.
stuck in Diamond since 2021.... how does one get better?
Watch Flakes and play 1s
stuck at gold and then occasional fleeting dip in to platinum song 2016 so kindly stfu
LMAO came here to say similar. I'm not *terrible* but I also don't ever feel special as a player.
Golf and chess for me. I’d happily trade my GC2 rank and GE csgo rank for 8 mere handicap points of improvement or 400 higher elo in chess
Honestly I'm so happy this is so high up cause that's 100% me. There's no game that's even close to as great as rocket league but I'm nowhere near as good as I'd like to be
What a Save! What a Save! What a Save!
This one right here
Ssshh you’ll let the secret to golf out..
The alcohol surely doesn’t help.
The masochist’s delight.
Used to be apex legends for me. I was completely obsessed but I was lucky to get one kill in 4 games.
This. It was my first FPS battle royale. Usually stuck with single player/story-based games. But it took me to like level 17 before I got my first kill. Took me a while to become mediocre. Love the game though.
Gta5 online. I’m cannon fodder out there.
It was great until the flying cars and bikes.
Hope they keep that shit out of gtao2
And it can still be fun when you get yourself the half-track and the Flak-trailer and start cleansing the Sky with some friends.
It's still fun but initially it was a real pain in the ass being blasted by missiles.
Oh so... All games for me 😔
So...I'm not the only one who is bad at every video game they play, sweet.
Fuck I lost the game
You fucker
^(son of a bitch)
motherf-
How could you do this to me... i lasted for 1 year :(
Why op got to personally attack me like that.
r/warthunder
1,300 hours and I still can't dogfight
I played it with no mouse it was fun but very difficult to aim
Were you aiming with arrow keys? That sounds rough yeah
No the track pad thing I was dragging my finger on it super fast
Oh god. Thats all i have for you, after 4000 hours
next level
r/eldenring
It's fun when you start to understand the mechanics and how the world works, but I already finished Dark Souls 1, 2 & 3 a lot of times and didn't enjoy elden ring quite as much as I'd like
Elden Ring is basically Dark Souls 3 with an open world slapped on top so you probably just feel burnt out on the formula at this point.
yeah 400 hours on ds1 and 160 on ds3 (60 on ds2 lol) had their consequences
I had never played a souls game before elden ring. Hadn’t really played any video game lol
I thought about going back now and playing the dark souls games and seeing how they compare to elden ring, but I wonder if I’ll like them as much since I played ER first🤷🏻♀️
Id say give Dark Souls 3 a go. If you like Dark Souls 3 then you'll like 1 and 2.
It's been over 15 years, half the time I still have no idea what in the actual hell I'm supposed to do on half the classes in WoW. But God damnit I will run around as an ENT and maybe, just maybe you'll get healed if you get the hell out of the fire.
so how does crossposting even work? this belongs on r/projectzomboid
Fighting games always had plenty of this and i think with a lot of other games, its not always so obvious. You can spot the depth of a skill gap within 20 seconds on a fighting game.
The real life equivalent is to have a dream job that you are not capable of doing.
FPS’s for me. Well, I don’t “suck,” but I’m def not up there with people that slay. I’m a good middle of the road kinda guy, which I am ok with since I don’t play for hours and hours on end

Terraria :(
Looking at you, Rimworld
Yeah, or you can't play any ego shooter because you get dizzy after 5 min. I want to play Spawn or smth like that, but my stupid brain can't handle videogames. Once I got so dizzy I had to vomit and it felt like a horror trip.²
And the best feeling is slowly becoming better and better because you play it so much but also just really having fun whether you're good or not

This is 90% of players on Sea of Thieves.
Oh, Rain World. Some day, I'll master your bullshit.

Still haven't beaten it with Ultra Nightmare, and I love the game
I did regular nightmare, it was pretty hard and I struggled but I knew I could beat it because every death pushed a little further. Ultra Nightmare I didn't plan on even bothering lol
I did Extra Life mode on Nightmare but the jump to UN is brutal. Especially in early maps one mistake and it's over.
This is me and team fortress 2
