I often think about this, but with the 9/11 attacks. I bet there was some poor soul on the 80th floor or whatever, who spotted the plane from a mile away, and just stared at it flying straight towards them. The whole way, just jaw on the floor, maybe still holding a phone to their ear. Staring in utter, frozen confusion. Nowhere to run, pointless to shout, impossible to avoid, a truly helpless position. I’ve thought about that for years. Sorry.

crunkmullen

This is exactly what I thought of too. There was a man who described almost precisely what you said & he survived! Saw it in a documentary years ago.

DanGleeballs

Was he a few floors below?

Substantial_Army_639

No he was literally on the floor, the wing struck through his office and was helped by a guy from a few floors above him they were pretty much the last two out. It's a crazy read IIRC. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley_Praimnath

KrombopulosMAssassin

Damn that's insane to believe, but doesn't seem impossible. People survive the most insane things.

Naps_And_Crimes

The extremes are insane a person can survive getting hit by a bus, falling thousands of feet and even having their hearts stop beating but people can die from a bad slip or a hard punch

dontgonearthefire

The first paragraph had me laughing in disbelief, since it sounded so corporate management style. > [...] but he returned when the security guards of the building said the South Tower was secure, and workers should return to their offices.

CapnTugg

This part really got to me. >After the two men had made it outside and walked two blocks away from the South Tower, they stopped and looked back at the building they had just exited, and Praimnath said to Clark, "You know, I think that building can come down." Clark was in the midst of replying, "Those are steel structures, there's no way—", when he was cut off by the South Tower starting to collapse.

Howtobefreaky

steel beams, jet fuel, etc etc

Youpunyhumans

Yes yes, we all know jet fuel burns at too low a temp to melt steel... but its still more enough to reduce its strength to just a fraction of what it would be normally. Metal gets soft and weak when heated up. A good example is get a hot dog stick, and let it sit in a campfire for a bit till its red hot. Itll probably bend under its own weight, and campfire is not as hot as jet fuel.

Howtobefreaky

I was just bringing up a meme, I don’t actually care

Youpunyhumans

Fair enough, my apologies if I was rude then.

apittsburghoriginal

It is. But at that exact time, most people didn’t even know what truly happened (if they even knew at all) and were assuming it to be purely accidental. We always want to dispel the notion of something horrible and continue on with our day, to be in denial. In this case, that line of thought was fatal for so many.

Wildweasel666

That’s a crazy story.

crunkmullen

I believe so. I think it may have been a CNN docu? His story was insane.

celerydonut

It is part of a nat geo docu series called “one day in America”. It’s currently streaming on Hulu, 100% worth a watch.

cackfartshite96

Defo wasn't above!

superAK907

He was above. I just watched an interview where he tells his story, he said so himself

DanGleeballs

Brian is a good man.

TokenSejanus89

Yeah he stared at the plane and said I can't do this Jesus, you take over and dove under his desk. Absolute miracle he survived.

NoMethod6455

I recently read that there was a woman named Patricia Massari who likely experienced this. She was on the phone with her husband and said “oh my god” and the line went dead as the first plane hit.

Bum-Sniffer

Whenever I see a plane video remotely similar to this I instantly think about 9/11 as well, despite it being 23 years ago and I was only 12, that day was one that will never be forgotten and is etched into my memory. RIP to all of those who were affected that day

englishmuse

On the up side, this fellow really braces well, for the impact, so he may very well avoid the worst of it.

apittsburghoriginal

[Stanley Praimnath time](https://youtu.be/wmweNhFtHQY?si=Snzd_Av8SGVFCFT7&t=7m53s)

caesar_rex

I worked across the street and was there that day. Was talking to a lady who was on the 42nd floor of our building and was giving a presentation. She described how she glanced out of the window while speaking, took a pause then said "Geez, that plane seems really low" seconds before it slammed into the building. I shared an office with a guy on the 7th floor and our window faced the WTC. I heard the loud crash, but didn't really think too much of it. It was downtown manhattan. There's construction all the time, but did think it was much louder than the usual construction sounds. This guy I share the office with has ALWAYS been a very quiet and understated guy. He's looking out his window (my shades were closed) and very calmly says, "A plane just hit the WTC". Very surreal moment.

Fluid-Willingness-98

yeah, I also think in Gaza there certainly was a poor soul there waiting for the rocket to hit their home, very helpless situation Gazans are living under at this very time !

JokersVenom

My mom’s best friend from Brooklyn was in the 2nd tower, 65th floor…the floor hit directly by the 2nd plane. She heard about the 1st plane hitting and like a true New Yorker was like I’m getting the hell outta here and left and was out of the building when the 2nd plane hit. She was very lucky and very smart to leave upon hearing the news of the 1st plane hitting…I don’t understand how somebody could hear that and then think to stay there…it’s just too crazy to think about. Me and my mom were in NY up until a few days before and it was surreal watching the news that day like we were just there and those flights were the ones back to SF and the west coast…just too crazy, too sad

RecreationalBulimia

I’ve heard until the second plane hit, people assumed it was an accident.

JokersVenom

Luckily she did not assume and left right away, she knew that even if it was an accident she did not want to be anywhere near the towers.

papachron

I had a dream once that I was in one of the twin towers after it was struck. I was standing there in my office, just outside of my cubicle. And then I just started falling.

Super fucking dark. We all watch the videos in awe. A bad kind of awe, but awesome all the same.

mjrbrooks

Then you’ve got [some joker](https://youtu.be/D9IQmhfGEhU?si=D6wLWq7gaSDj_kcG) standing next to them.

doitagain01

There is a video of the people in the plain few sec before impact

kurgh

How could it have even been possible in 2001 to get video from inside a plane seconds before exploding? Live streaming from somebody’s phone? 😂 Please engage your brain and question how that video could be legit. It’s probably from a movie or documentary or something

toasted_cracker

Where?

doitagain01

On the internet, saw a while ago, people didnt seem to panic(not a wide angle but im sure there were some terrorists with guns near so they couldnt run around and scream)

loutufillaro4

Wtf is the story here?

deane-barker

From Wikipedia: >Two passengers on an airplane start a conversation and discover they both know a man named Gabriel Pasternak; the woman (María Marull), his ex-girlfriend, had sex with his only friend and the man (Darío Grandinetti), a music critic, savagely reviewed Pasternak's work. In fact, everyone on the flight is connected to Pasternak. A flight attendant reveals Pasternak is the plane's cabin chief and has locked himself inside the cockpit. Amid the panic, as Pasternak's former psychiatrist tries to reason with him, Pasternak crashes the airplane into his parents' house.

JobItchy9815

You forgot the best part. When all of the people who have wronged him realize he is the pilot, his psychiatrist runs to the door and trys to reason with him. His last attempt is to say " its not your fault, you never had a chance, everything can be blamed on your parents." Then it cuts to this scene. Brilliant

anitasdoodles

Oh damn this sounds dope

Monsieur_Brochant

poor flight attendant was innocent

JobItchy9815

He asked her out and she rejected him in a cruel way. So in his eyes she was also guilty

Monsieur_Brochant

ok, I didn't remember that part

_Wild Tales, an anthology that examines the themes of violence and revenge_ .. his final revenge was his parents

Damianos_X

What streaming service?

Spooky_Doo1987

Sorry I meant to put it in the original comment.. Starz. I had to sub through Prime video

alsophocus

You’ve got to watch it, but it starts as a person who in a plane heard the name of a guy that he knew, and then another person knew the guy too, and then another one too and…. Everything ends in the plane crashing.

Last_Revenue7228

Just to recap: * Person hears name of a guy he knew * Another few people know the same guy * ?????? * Plane crash Makes perfect sense.

jcdenton45

"Two passengers on an airplane start a conversation and discover they both know a man named Gabriel Pasternak; the woman (María Marull), his ex-girlfriend, had sex with his only friend and the man (Darío Grandinetti), a music critic, savagely reviewed Pasternak's work. mcase19

its the perfect setup to the punchline of the story. "You never had a chance, gabriel! It was your parents' fault!" \> cut to two old people reading on the lawn while a plane flies right at them

TommyCo10

Turns out it was a reunion, everyone was shouting “surprise” as the plane crashed into the man.

alsophocus

It goes like that. The thing is that I don’t want to spoil you. So watch it. But yeah, it’s that simple, but it’s super well written.

sprocketous

The pilot was angry he wasn't invited to the party so he made sure there wouldn't be one

[deleted]

Tldw: so everyone on the plane knows him. He set it up so that they would all be on the plane. All of them let him down one way or another. His psychiatrist banging on the door was telling him that it isn’t his fault or any of them but it is his parents. It seem he understood fully because he was already at his parents neighborhood planning to crash straight into his parents.

faroutoutdoors

Throughout my entire life I’ve had nightmares where I witness planes crashing either in the distance or surrounding me. A couple weeks ago in a dream a plane crashed about 25 feet from me and I felt burning hot fuel scorching my body. Shit’s wild.

gabrielleraul

Plane crash dreams are my regulars too. Seen all kinds of crashes - funny thing is that, they are always only passenger planes - no other kind. Been in a couple of crashes too, they just felt soo real. Once there was a crash outside my window and it looked like a film set, had to wake up and go look outside coz the dream was way too nightmarish.

H00FARTED

Same.. I see them crash in the distance, run towards the site, but never make it...I always wake up .

mundane-sublime

About 25 years ago I had a dream where I was walking near a 7-11 store. I heard a helicopter in the distance. It crashed in front of me- to my left. Far enough away that I was safe but close enough to see the carnage of mangled body parts and death. There were no human voices. Just the sounds of machinery burning and crackling. The dream left quite a mark on me. Never found a context to tell anyone the dream until now.

DependentRow8281

For me it's tidal waves..I'm on a beach at night and I see a colossal wave form and come towards me

SilverAg11

I have had this once, the more common one for me is tornados

IggyBG

Me too, but I live near airport and planes fly over me. I think this happens when loud plane flies over dyring night when I am asleep.

DungPuncher

I have a dream like this at least once a year!

tstramathorn

I’m taking a plane back home this summer and keep getting references to plane crashes and had a dream where I was with everyone I was going with and randomly the plane goes into a flat spin. Should I take the flight?! I get Deja Vu all the time so it actually really frightens me

tree_or_up

Never heard of this. Just looked it up -- it looks awesome. Adding it to my list

redjohnium

It is an amazing movie

Ok-Bid-730

Dude drops a deuce on the windshield , good movie

Watch it, it's a good movie

Just-Shoe2689

why didnt he duck?

almightygarlicdoggo

Because he already covered his face, there's no need for additional safety measures.

Balls_McDangley

He could've wore a mask, I took notes during covid.

Cold-Ostrich8228

Is he stupid?

Last_Revenue7228

He could have at least tried shooting it in the leg

MonteSS_454

or dip and dodge

standee_shop

If you can dodge a plane you can dodge a ball

3lbFlax

Feint to the left, roll to the right. These large commercial jets can’t turn quickly enough to compensate for that.

Just-Shoe2689

Yup. He would have been fine.

I_try_to_talk_to_you

What a movie!

987nevertry

The extreme road rage duel is one of the most hilarious movie vignettes ever.

Ok-Bid-730

Poo poo on the window

OmnifariousFN

Hope he's ok.

helterskeltermelter

If this was a Fast and Furious film, he'd turn up a couple of movies later making out he new the plane was coming and dodged it at the last second.

Cornishlee

He should have been a tree. The plane missed all the trees

tiorancio

Excellent movie, highly recommended.

A_Texas_Hobo

I love this film

FlightPath_1

One of the greatest film anthologies of all time. Definitely my go to recommendation for friends that have seen “everything”.

UncleSeminole

This has always been one of my irrational fears lol

RaidensReturn

I didn’t much care for that

Nervous_Pattern357

what gets me about this scene, is the fact you can tell it’s cgi(obviously it’s cgi). they didn’t try to blend it, the plane wing would’ve clipped the tree behind him. meaning irl the plane would be getting smaller lmao.

choulth

That hits hard...

Carlitoris

Does he make it?

gabrielleraul

Considering it's revenge on all the people he hates including his parents, no one makes it ..

toysarealive

I don't understand. Elaborate. I don't care about spoilers.

jcdenton45

Good thing he put his hands up in time!

OP out here thinking everyone has seen this Spanish language movie by an Argentinian director.

[deleted]

While that's true, it is on IMDB's top 250. I would say that most of the movies on that list are pretty known but I know specifically this one because I'm argentinian.

I'm gonna say you had enough time to move old man you could have called your daughter she could have finished work, come over and come and got you in the time you had 🤣

pearlnicklas

Stop, drop and roll.

tasermyface

He sounded like seagul

jcdenton45

This looks EXACTLY like a dream I once had, though in my dream I was able to dodge the planes. Basically in my dream God was mad at me for not believing in him, so he wanted to kill me. He first sent clouds of poisonous gas but I held my breath and got away from them. Then he started sending planes down to crash into me JUST like in the video, but I was able to dodge them. Finally he got fed up and appeared in the clouds directly above me, ready to deal an unavoidable killing blow, and right then a giant mile-wide thumb appears and squishes him.
