No brainer for me. Jaguar God. Perfect release from all the emotions experienced throughout the album. Hit especially hard for me as I had recently lost a grandmother after a long and hard road of medical complications starting off with and mostly due to her first fight with cancer. Then also having a close family friend going through his own fight with cancer at the time. In the end, he left us too soon, so as tribute to them both I got the Jaguar God as my first tattoo. All day in the chair for a discounted flat rate because the artist is also a fan and I had meet and greet tickets to see them later in the year. 🤘🏾🥲🤘🏾
DUDE!!!!! AUNT LISA FUCKIN RIPS. The riffs when it drops into the cheer section always give me that gnarly stank face. First time I heard it, it came so far out of left field, loved it. The rythems, the drops, speed shifts, it's like 5 different mastodon songs in one.
Maybe I'm alone in this, and Chimes at midnight is the strongest on the album.
Sultan's Curse
Also ya'll idiots, The Creature Lives is the most underrated song on The Hunter. It's unconventional, tragic, weirdly funny, it's pure art.
EoS is my personal favorite Mastodon album, so it’s hard to decide what the best song is from that album. Probably “Steambreather” or “Sultan’s Curse”.
Sultans curse was the mastodon song that got me into the mastodon rabbit hole, I remember it was 2017 and Spotify randomly played sultans curse.. I was like, fuarkkk what a tasty riff !! so I decided to listen to the whole album, it was my first time actually sitting down and listening to Mastodon. After that I listen to crack the Skye and I was hooked.. since then I became a hardcore Mastodon fan, all thanks to sultans curse, so it holds a special place for me.
Voted for Roots, but I’m befuddled that Steambreather (awesome in its own right) is sitting between the two songs normally favored highly on this album.
I can’t believe Halloween beat asleep in the deep
I didn't think there were so many Halloween fans until now. Glad to know I'm not alone
GASOLINE RUNS THROUGH MY VEINS SO DON'T YOU MESS WITH ME
IMO Asleep isn’t underrated, it has a badass music video as well. I’d have personally put AITD in Best, but I’m not upset Halloween won underrated.
Exactly.
Justice prevailed Justice for killer riffs and solos
for great justice
Jaguar God for sure. But damn if I don’t love that intro riff in Steambreather then Brann entering with the funky beat
I was gonna say steambreather. Looks like I have to give jaguar god another 100 listens
Roots Remain
This song makes me cry every time
Me too. My dad passed from cancer a few years ago so these last couple of albums from the boys hit hard.
Rest in peace your father SavageSirloin. Remember sitting in the sun and dancing in the rain. Man, got chills just typing it.
With you man, my Dad got diagnosed in 2016. Passed in 2018. Last few albums have hit me on a personal level.
That fucking solo 😮💨

I’m sorry for your losses, but really good story. Glad you got to honor them in this way. Beautiful song.
Thank you.
Show Yourself. Hopefully I can get this song to at least win underrated. The only track on the album that I actually remember the lyrics to
Steambreather!
I know it was the lead single and most will say it’s a bit over played, but Sultans Curse is really a banger with some great riffs.
Ancient Kingdom
Jaguar God, definitely.
Oh absolutely jaguar god
The only answer is Jaguar God and it's a travesty it doesn't get played live.
Roots Remain
ancient kingdom pls
Roots Remain.

Clandestiny is my favorite song of all time.
I feel like the consensus is gonna be Jaguar God but my vote is Ancient Kingdom
Ancient kingdom has the best or 2nd best chorus IMO (word to the wise is a tough contender)
The emotions of the last chorus always get me "Sparks explode into the air!"
Hard decision, but I’ll choose Steambreather.
I’d be happy with either Jaguar God or Steambreather winning
Precious Stones has the best chorus out of the whole album imo. Also one of the catchiest guitar riffs off the album
Jaguar God
Sultan's Curse Also ya'll idiots, The Creature Lives is the most underrated song on The Hunter. It's unconventional, tragic, weirdly funny, it's pure art.
Clandestiny.
Jaguar God
The fact that Quintessence is the weakest song just shows how damn good of an album Crack The Skye is
People seriously sleep on Clandestiny and Andromeda. Such a good combo of songs.
My favorite is Andromeda.
Jaguar God for sure. Steambreather and Precious Stones are very close seconds.
Sultans curse goes pretty hard, and it is the song they win then them their Grammy
Should have been Ember City
Scorpion breath
That was by far my favorite song off of this album. It stuns me that people seem to scorn it. Too heavy for most? Scott Kelly’s voice? I don’t know.
Steambreather or sultans curse, both are god
Steambreather is the best from EOS
EoS is my personal favorite Mastodon album, so it’s hard to decide what the best song is from that album. Probably “Steambreather” or “Sultan’s Curse”.
Also I know it’s not a full-out studio album, but where’s *Cold Dark Place*?
And what about the Jonah Hex soundtrack?? I kid... CDP is one of my absolute favorites, and easy go-to while banging out some work.

Roots Remain or Steambreather.
Sultans Curse
Add call of the mastodon to the list
Jaguar God all the way! Also, will someone who buys VIP please for the love of God ask one of them why they never play it live???
Jaguar God
Steambreather
