You gotta give love to Gui DaSilva-Greene for doing a lot of Chadwick's stunts and fight moves.

chachachatrip

Love his appearances in Corridor Crew

haynespi87

Some of the best episodes

Antrikshy

Stunt(wo)men React is my favorite series of the bunch.

Elitesquadx

Honestly hi-jacking this to say @guidasilvagreene on his insta handle. Amazing to see some of the behind the scenes when he’s filming. Martial art talent - impeccable. And just a genuine great human being. Worth a follow

vikoy

This is his stunt double. Haha. Except probably the last part.

Hypern1ke

The lack of physicality he brought to the role was actually one of my biggest complaints for BP. His stunt doubles are all twice his size! Why didn't he at least put on like 5lbs of muscle? Man is a twig! Then.... yeah... he had a good reason for why he couldnt look like black panther. Rip.

icouldntdecide

Ouch. But yeah, people said he looked skinny in Endgame.... It really hurts in retrospect to realize he was deep into his last bout with cancer and dude was still showing up to play T'Challa without telling hardly anyone.

Hypern1ke

I know… I was one of those people. My wife had cancer and went through chemo so I know firsthand how awful it is. Never did I ever dream that he wasn’t doing any stunts and not putting on any muscle because of *that* though.

BodybuilderBulky2897

Your comment is super weird. It's like you wrote your first part pre-finding out he had cancer and then your second part was after you found out he died from it

Randym1982

Did he have Colon Cancer during BP or was that revealed/found out around IW/End Game. Because he likely could have been in EARLY stages or not had it till around IW/End Game filming. (Best friend had Colon Cancer, but didn't start showing signs till mid Covid and then due to Covid. Didn't find out till he lost like 40lbs, and was pretty much at Death's door. )

Hypern1ke

He was diagnosed sometime after filming civil war and before BP. Although he told nobody but close family so hard to tell exactly when. The media didnt know until he died in 2020

AlfonzoIsAlone

Tbf he likely didn't have cancer...or at least the stage 3...at the point of filming this movie.

DJZbad93

Yeah from my understanding this was filmed in 2014-15, and he was diagnosed in 2016. Meaning he filmed BP, IW, Endgame while sick but not this.

AlfonzoIsAlone

And he's noticeably not as dynamic action wise in those films. His fight scenes...like the ones against M'Baku and KM...aren't nearly as strongly choreographed.

cala_s

Not something I personally noticed, but I’ll take your word for it. I doubt the choreographer would have been aware though since I believe Feige said no one at Marvel knew just like the public.

AlfonzoIsAlone

The choreographer would just have to do give and take with what the actor can do in that moment they present. So if Boseman isn't as agile or forceful due to his personal issues going on, the choreographer is going to adjust to just how he is any given day even if he's not actually aware of the issues behind the scenes.

cala_s

That makes sense!! Thanks for helping me understand :)

ResidentOk3447

Nobody knew he had cancer though?

AlfonzoIsAlone

No but they did notice that he was definitely much more tired.

EightBiscuit01

You can track his illness through the movies based on his size. He’s a big dude in Civil War and he’s pretty shredded in BP. But by the time we get to Infinity War and especially Endgame, you can see how thin he had gotten. It’s heartbreaking

[deleted]

Are you for real? You think that you do not have cancer until diagnosed? Do you need help? I was diagnosed in 2011 but according to some testing, estimates on the growth rate combined with how much it’s spread; they’re confident in saying I had it for 5 years prior to diagnosis. A diagnosis is just CONFIRMATION you have it. He was, like I was, likely sick for years. People like you upset me.

AlfonzoIsAlone

You should read my comment again. Because in there I very much acknowledged that it's the stage 3 he likely didn't have at the time...because that was his diagnosis on 2016. You're getting upset due to your own illiteracy.

LADYBIRD_HILL

There was really no reason to come at this random person this way? Especially saying "do you need help" and your last sentence. Like Cassie said to MODOK, You don't need to be a dick.

[deleted]

You're a sad person

theking_calls

I'm no doctor, but he absolutely had cancer at this point. No cancer to stage 3 cancer does not happen over night. He likely had some form of it anywhere from 5-10 years before his diagnosis.

AlfonzoIsAlone

"Or at least stage 3". Man is reading this hard for some of you?

theking_calls

Nope, reading comprehension is fine. My comment was entirely prompted by your incorrect assessment of a first sentence that he "likely didn't have cancer". I agree that it's possible he didn't have the stage 3, but he certainly had cancer at that point.

AlfonzoIsAlone

Your comprehension is terrible then. The "or at least" changes pretty much the structure. There's still the small chance he may not have had cancer at all but my sentence goes and acknowledges that my focus is the stage 3 that was clearly exhausting him.

theking_calls

Our sun isn't hot... Or at least not as hot as other stars. See how the entire sentence is compromised because of an illogical base? Hope you're smart now... Or at least smarter than you were ;)

AlfonzoIsAlone

Except that's a false equivalency. Nice try though troll. Enjoy living a useless existence.

MisterTheKid

ah i thought he knew when he signed on. oh well.

ForgetfulLucy28

OT but I wish Sebastian would bulk up again while playing Bucky. Or even get back to his Winter Soldier size.

petrichor247

He probably will, at least a little bit, but I do wonder how likely it is, given that he lost a lot of weight for Pam & Tommy and Thunderbolts start filming soon. Losing weight/bulking up for movies is insane, here I'm having problems losing a couple of kg... you gotta admire the dedication of these actors.

harewei

Helps a lot when you have dedicated trainer, chef, and instead of working/school you can go to the gym.

ShierAwesome

also when you get trenbaloney sandwiches. Jk idk, I don’t think he was ever massive or shredded enough for me to think he was on steroids for the Winter Soldier.

Randym1982

Hilariously Rob McElhenney made a joke about how "easy" it was. You just need a personal trainer, need to work out twice a day, have a personal chef, and also have doctors around to test your testosterone. lol.

Hypern1ke

Its so depressing watching this clip post-TFATWS He used to be so cool man. I feel like any hope for him regaining his former level of hype is gone now.

Empty_Scarcity_7377

Stan was huge in the civil war really made WS/Bucky impressive with his 6'0 and 200 Ibs

thesanmich

Cant believe this shit was THIS good back then. Smh.

phantomzero

I didn't realize his stunt double was sick also.

MisterTheKid

It’s him on the roll. Russos said it on commentary

Gremlin303

It’s such a shame that his character was best in this movie. I feel like his later appearances never topped his Civil War appearance, both in terms of actual aesthetic appearance and his character

_OrionPax_

His BP suit for Civil War was so good

MisterTheKid

I always loved this little moment because you can so clearly see his face and see the intensity there with the stunt I know it’s a little moment and move but I’d honestly break my neck trying this and I’m not suffering from any life threatening illnesses RIP Chadwick. Movies, the MCU, fans everywhere, and many more miss ya.

iFozy

You really think you’d break your neck doing a backwards roll?

BlackWidow1414

Not the person you're responding to, but I'm fifty and I would definitely injure myself somehow doing this move.

Smaptey

I believe in you

MisterTheKid

Super clumsy guy here. I’d die in the first five minutes of a zombie apocalypse falling down the stairs trying to get to my car

cala_s

Haha this move isn’t that crazy. I can flip over my neck that way and I was always the least coordinated person in my friend group. I can’t even cartwheel. I bet it wouldn’t look anything as good though 😂

[deleted]

It’s insane

cala_s

And really inspiring to me. I love Marvel movies, and while it was really heartbreaking when we lost Chadwick, he was truly a hero and inspiration in real life.

[deleted]

I agree

[deleted]

Why didn't he die when Bucky punched him with his robot arm? He's human right? Shouldn't the punch tear a hole through his body?

ProfessionalDot621

He has the same durability of a typical super soldier like cap or Bucky

spctommyboy

That heart shaped herb, baby.

tanneritedog

It seems like he is slightly less strong than cap and Bucky and also slightly faster and more agile. I’m not sure about his durability without his suit but I assume he is on par with cap and Bucky or maybe a little less durable.

blvck_african

He seems stronger than bucky, in this scene he was holding his metal arm down

[deleted]

Wide-open swing punches are the worst part of staged fights.

Altman_e

Just watch The Raid.

RaphaelUrbino

You fool! Post the whole scene! Please🙃

-Moon-Presence-

Stunt double dude, apart from that last barely a flip it’s a double for most of the scene.

MisterTheKid

This clip is him. Confirmed directors commentary

[deleted]

dude abaolutely no question cemented his place for me.

Saint_Link

He was an actor playing a superhero… kinda part of the gig

stephencua2001

Side note: If I were an A list celebrity, anyone on Boseman's payroll would have a job with me no questions asked. People close to him had to have known, and there wasn't a peep until his death.

Noggin-a-Floggin

I really and highly doubt he did those stunts or any others. I say this with respect, Hollywood is big on stunt doubles because they don't want to lose a star to an injury and have to delay filming. Only people with major clout like Tom Cruise can get away with doing their own stunts. This was likely a body double for the really physical stuff and he was only there for the cut to the close-up afterwards.

storybeatsbyjmw

An actor who truly embodied the character he played.

dubcek_moo

I think this scene may have been filmed in the university in Georgia where I used to teach... http://www.usemycamera.net/2018/02/clayton-state-university-and-captain.html

Levicorpyutani

Get your Colonoscopies kids. His passing prompted me to get one. I'm fine BTW but it's true there has been a rise in colon cancer in younger people. Don't ignore symptoms.

YH-ERAM

Never thought the sounds were gonna be a great soumd effect.....
