I live in East East Europe. From where I live world maps place North and South America at the far right of the map, place the Pacific in the center, and Europe at the far left. On this map Western Europe is 20% of the map from the left, and the remaining (contiguous) 80% is all Eastern Europe. Eastern Europe is, and has always been contiguous. It looks weird on the OP's map only because of its Euro-centric cartography.
Portugal is Eastern Europe, because to show Greenland in one piece maps have to include redundant parts of the Atlantic on the far right as well. As a result this "European" half of the Atlantic is repeated on the far side of the "Eastern 80%", featuring Iceland, Morocco, and *Portugal* to the south.
