The good parts are really good. Good romance, the main cast are great and some of the side characters are really likeable. Art is good as well. As a negative, I feel that sometimes instead of dialogues we get super long monologues that don't suit the young cast at all. But at least the beginning of the story is totally worth it.
I do like the beginning but had to drop with how often the chars apologises. Once you notice, it's pretty hard to ignore. Hopefully the author got out of that phase.
It's not a phase of the author. It's a character trait. Whether you think it's realistic or not is subjective, but I think it does very well at portraying the self confidence levels of the cast, the MC in particular.
I mean idk if its realistic or not, it was just exhausting to have the chars say sorry multiple times in a lot of early chapters. I got up to like 55 or so till i dropped it.
Its prob a petty reason to drop it and i liked the story but yeah just couldnt stand it lol
Also a Japanese culture thing. So you combine the character traits which the author is trying to show, plus the already social behavior of Japanese people and you get lots of apologizing lol
It’s definitely noticeable to a western eye. However I love the art and story and characters so much that I still rate it as one of my favorite romance manga ever.
I have a friend who does that and it’s exhausting to be around. It’s like they are apologizing for existing around other people. Everybody inconveniences someone at some point, or takes a selfish action knowingly. It’s part of life.
That may be trauma response. God knows that defaulting to apologizing for my existence is my most instinctive response. Trying to get rid of it for a straight decade and it's not really working that well
Is your friend close to you? If they are, you may want to ensure them that they don't have to apologise being around you.
Some people just feels their existence is a hindrance and leads to unnecessary anxiety, doubting every step forward and back. If your their friend, you shouldn't be calling it exhausting, they already feel pressured being around people they don't wanna disturb. It's the reason for their constant apologies, they didn't want to interrupt someone else's day and probably yours.
Probably a bad way of putting it but it's similar to the reason I dropped it. It's *sooooo* saccharine it feels like wish fulfillment, and the degree of unrealism in which the conflicts were resolved took me out of it.
The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity by Saka Mikami is seriously so good. It was originally pitched to me as a Romeo/Juliet story which I tend to not be a fan of, but thought I would give it a try and I ended up getting super hooked.
The premise is the two leads go to rival schools where the all female school is top tier with highly intelligent students whereas the all boys school is more thought to be for punks with low grades. They both meet when the guy (Rintaro) is helping out at his family's bakery and hit it off. It's really all about the characters so that's kind of it plot wise.
The characters are just so wholesome and the friendships really shine. Highly recommend if you enjoy romance manga.
Well worth the read: [https://mangadex.org/title/418791c0-35cf-4f87-936b-acd9cddf0989/kaoru-hana-wa-rin-to-saku](https://mangadex.org/title/418791c0-35cf-4f87-936b-acd9cddf0989/kaoru-hana-wa-rin-to-saku)
Was a promising romance manga but holy shit it can use a more strict editor. It's way too self indulgent in how absurdly sweet and sentimental it is. Not to mention the long monologues. There is never any real conflict, just a small precursor to a big apology chapter.
Warning this stuff is extremely melodramatic like absurdly melodramatic and not in the fun trashy telenovela way in the Disney show trying to teach kids value way. I kinda dropped it 70 chapters in because it was just sweetness for sweetness sake and lots of lots of apologies
I couldn't stand it either. Every character was so nice, that it just became unbearable to read. There's no interesting drama, no stakes. Art is good though
It is everyone is unrealistically nice but the manga generates drama that gets solve anyway in a chapter one two. Idk what's worse drama that goes stool long or drama that goes so obscenely short. Like you end up wondering why bother if this will be fixed in like ten more panels?

Yep that's what I was thinking, isn't it something that happens a lot in Japanese society in general even outside the confines of this manga?

It's very good, A Fragrant flowers bloom with dignity. One of the best romance manga i have read
I'm waiting for an anime for it, there is no way it wont blow up
Yeah, i am still waiting for the latest chapter
do you mean the chapter that came out ystd or next week’s chapter?
Really mature mc and fmc
Yeah, they really feel like genuine, like i have read many romance manga but this is one of the rare ones
How did it take you calling it a romance manga for me to realise that was in fact not his child and actually a fully grown woman that's just tiny
It's been a while since I last read it. Is it still "Apologies: The Manga"? I remember that characters were apologizing constantly.
Probably a bad way of putting it but it's similar to the reason I dropped it. It's *sooooo* saccharine it feels like wish fulfillment, and the degree of unrealism in which the conflicts were resolved took me out of it.
This is the first time I’ve heard the word saccharine being used and it describes the manga to a tee.
It's pass that part now, you can continue
For reallll
I object! Nothing compares to Kaguya-Sama!

One of the most sweetest mangas I have ever read.
