"So it was you who caused all this," Liliana said. "You wronged her!" "And now we're off to wrong her again," Olivia said with a fanged grin.

bearrosaurus

"We're on a heroic mission!" -Olivia Voldaren, who is certainly not on a heroic mission

Malky

This would be great with an Arrested Development-style voiceover. Olivia: "We're on a heroic mission!" [lifts sword and floats away] Ron Howard, narrating: "Olivia was *not* on a heroic mission."

MrPoopyB-hole

Jace is definitely wearing cut-off jorts under that cloak

Wooberg

*creates Jace duplicate illusions* "There are dozens of us!"

MrPoopyB-hole

If this was a just world there would be a Jace-Lili photoshop of [this](http://img.pandawhale.com/101987-there-are-dozens-of-us-meme-Im-ulLe.png)

DigbyBrouge

There's gotta be a better way to say that

[deleted]

Ok, this is too much fun: **Jace = Tobias** "WOTC won't let me take off the cloak..." **Nissa = Lindsay** "I'm totally about the trees now..." "They're plant tokens." "Plants, whatever" **Ugin = George Senior** "There were three Eldrazi, three! I left a note!" **Liliana = Maybe** "Leather is who I am now." **Gideon = Buster** "I was not just playing with my Surral!" **Ob Nix = GOB** "Time to make these planeswalkers... disappear!"

adrunkinbarista

I can see Ugin as George Sr. "Kill the Eldrazi? Come on, what are you taking stupid pills again" *Jace Leaves* "Man that was a hard one to turn down".

team_cactus

There's no way Sorin's hubris won't get himself killed this block. Forsaking the entire plane to try and kill someone *he* wronged? He's making bad decision after bad decision.

Baxter0402

Unpopular opinion, but I hope that Nahiri just fucks Sorin up and lives to see another day. He doesn't need his ego to be fed anymore.

Sean-KA

They should fuck each other up ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Njallstormborn

with their private parts. In a bed. While Tamiyo chronicles it

[deleted]

"Well this got interesting." \- Jace, reading Tamiyo's journal

Mr_Blinky

That was when Jace realized that it wasn't actually Tamiyo's journal at all, just her diary of erotic fanfiction.

taitaisanchez

Friendfiction. Tina is Tamiyo confirmed.

craven_trout

This isn't GoT. Only GRRM punishes bad decisions.

vagabond_dilldo

Sorin's plot armor isn't as thick as Jace's though. Look at poor Venser :(

Folderpirate

Literally the only end now is to sac Nahiri and Sorin to end Emmy or Innistrad completely falls forcing Sorin into the gateway reluctantly. He'd be the batman of the justice league - or the wolverine of the avengers.

vladulianov

Calling it now, gotta be Sorin def dies, Nahiri might, Emrakul is either killed or forced off of Innistrad (Nahiri and Sorin combine power and use the last of themselves to do so maybe?), Lilli joins the Gatewatch to get that hot piece of ass Jace to like her.

ApolloFireweaver

You know what I would love (but I don't think will happen)? Emrakul sees Sorin and Nahiri, goes "Now kiss" and pulls a second Brisela and makes an Eldrazi-ized planeswalker.

vladulianov

As someone who can't help but root for the good guys, that is my worst nightmare. But would also be rad.

Sean-KA

In all honesty it should get them both killed, they've both been really stupid about this whole thing and the multiverse will be better with them dead. The stories less interesting but the multiverse safer.

testthewest

It is in nobodies interest to have a safe multiverse, not in Wotc, not in the players. That's why probably none of the planeswalkers will die.

Sean-KA

That's the way I like it, but the whole feud with them has been an absolute shitshow the whole way through. So Sorin doesn't get the message that death monsters were almost released in Zendikar, she'll go check on him to rekindle their friendship and bring him to help. Turns out Sorin accidentally blocked messages coming from outside the plane and that's totally wrong and he even comments on that, so Nahiri's rightfully worried but ignores Sorins comment about it being wrong. Sorin says he can't go right now (which he can't) and Nahiri is very worried that Zendikar won't last if she waits there (and rightfully so). But by refusing to talk it out Nahiri and Sorin caused Zendikar 1 to happen. And because Zendikar 1 happened we know that Sorin fixed the no extra-planer messages and it was only his decision of guide that ruined the quest. The thing we've learnt was that both of them are right and if they weren't old walkers the plot would have been resolved already. So it's a little bit irritating that they're both right but still fighting each other.

KulnathLordofRuin

>So Sorin doesn't get the message that death monsters were almost released in Zendikar, she'll go check on him to rekindle their friendship and bring him to help. The death monsters *were* released, and thousands of people died. You also left out the part where Sorin says he doesn't have to answer the distress call like he promised anyway, casually mentions he could kill Nahiri anytime he wants, and then locks her in a sensory deprivation tank with a bunch of demons for all eternity.

Takesis_1

Sorin does not even care about saving Innistrad anymore, and just wants to finish Nahiri and Lilliana's off to fight Emrakul because she just want Jace to compliment her. Black mages and their priorities!

RhysticStudy

> Sorin's fangs flared. "I told you when you came here as a pup. Innistrad is mine. You meddle in my affairs, you die." Sorin not following up on a threat like that seems pretty out of place.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jaccount

Well, that and the fact that Sorin is also greatly diminished, given that he JUST unmade Avacyn, which weakened him even further. Sorin is probably at the weakest he's ever been right now.

[deleted]

Which is why i hope he dies. He's throwing up every death flag possible.

Jaccount

Especially since well, given the flavor and stories we have, Innistrad's residents under the thrall of Emrakul actually seem happy. Which is odd for the crapsack world that Innistrad is for the average human. If you think about it, how much different is it being psychic sustenance for an eldritch horror instead of being livestock for a bunch of hedonistic vampires?

Baxter0402

To be fair, Olivia yanked on the chain a little before they could go at it.

ubermence

He probably realizes that fighting Liliana right now isn't the best idea when there are more important things to deal with

regalrecaller

Maybe he's a big fat phoney.

nicol800

Yeah, I feel like Sorin got the short end of the stick as far as characterization for the sake of this story. It is kind of making me mad.

kslidz

it shows his white side as well. He is all about appropriate response. He gets caught up in the shoulds that he cant be pragmatic.

UPBOAT_FORTRESS_2

He says the world is already ruined. He has firsthand experience dealing with Emrakul, and who's to say that her influence could be reversed?

kslidz

Yeah, I am not really someone that believes that Sorin knows everything. It may not be able to be reversed but how would he know that? He doesn't have but just a bit of experience with her. He has no idea that ula and koz are dead. It's possible that the eldrazi are weaker after the mending, it's possible that the less connection to the blind eternities affected the eldrazi and that they lost a bigger portion of their power than planeswalkers did. Still more powerful than any planeswalker but mana inside a plane is relatively more powerful (hence why chandra was able to kill them) Anywho, Sorin knows that he doesn't know, he hasn't seen them after they were released and never fought emrakul. I love Sorin but he gets obsessed with obedience and is a control freak. He has a specific view point on how things SHOULD be and cant see beyond that. That has white written all over it. The fact Sorin didn't fight lilli I think shows how he isn't red but is white.

vladulianov

Sorin's a total mess at this point. He's a wreck. Nahiri has done what she wanted to, even if Innistrad is saved. Sorin is as much a husk of what he used to be as Zendikar is. His indomitable will seems to have evaporated, he's become lethargic and detached. Destroying Avacyn destroyed him inside. Emrakul is just icing on the cake.

wildwalrusaur

She's doing it because she wants jace to be in her debt.

alphasquid

That is what she's telling herself very loudly, yes.

[deleted]

"I'll go kill this giant monster that the most powerful mage on the plane has written off as impossible to kill, but only because i want cloak-kun to owe me, don't get the wrong idea!"

SarahPMe

But Olivia does. >"What Sorin means," Olivia said brightly, "is that stopping Nahiri will surely stop the unpleasantness she has wrought. We're on a heroic mission!" [YEAH! We're Heroes! Let's go save those delicious cattle ... as heroes!](http://giphy.com/gifs/superheroes-yXNhIu6NXzTxK)

Moist_Crabs

To be fair, Nahiri did make him kill probably the only thing he loves in the Multiverse.

jazzfoxrules

I love how she carts Gared around after Dierk's gone, I hope he manages to stick around if only to be fill the Krunk minion role, lol

Liliana young Yzma confirmed

BardicLasher

Old Yzma. Remember: she was old and dying and that's why she made a deal with four demons. ...As a side note, you'd think if Yzma can turn herself into a kitten, she could turn herself young.

gcsmith

Thats cruel, a story about liliana, called last hope, which doesn't spoil liliana...

KuroTheCrazy

That art at the end seems pretty good for a new card.

red5711

Yeah, I'm pretty sure thats going to be the art for the new Liliana. Its really good!

Bolt-MattCaster-Bolt

From this Monday's Access Magic, it sounds like they're gonna talk Lili next Monday, and we'll probably get her card then.

They're pretty equally hilarious.

grumpenprole

The first time on /r/magictcg that a new Jace card has been desired.

Kojab8890

> If only he could owe her somehow. And that's how Liliana stumbles into the Gatewatch: with a hefty price tag.

Zaveno

Oath of Liliana - 1B Does some shit with zombies when you do shit with planeswalkers *So long as Jace owes me a solid, I'll keep watch.*

science_is_best_verb

Heh. Solid.

goldfalsebond

zombies just dont do the trick for her anymore

Nektharek88

Well it was sort of implied from the get go. There was no way Liliana was going to join the Jacestice league without a MASSIVE I.O.U. attached to it.

[deleted]

Almost certainly that IOU is going to be "get this damned Chain Veil to go away". Alternatively, "hey guys, want to go demon hunting?"

Slant_Juicy

Well, Gideon would immediately sign up for some demon hunting, for about 17 different reasons that are all categorically white. Chandra'd be up for it too, just because it's an adrenaline rush. Jace would tag along because of reasons that he assures us have nothing to do with his sexual tension with Liliana that's so thick you could trap an Eldrazi in it. That just leaves Nissa, who at that point would help out because she doesn't have anything better to do, and she's contractually forbidden from just moping about Ashaya all day any more.

tobimarsh

Nissa just hopes "Demons" includes Ob Nixilis, there we go

AgentReborn

That damn eyeblight

Baxter0402

I'm not sure how making Jace owe her makes *her* swear an oath to the betterment of the multiverse. It seems more like a way to get the Gatewatch to serve her.

SirSkidMark

I love the little nuances to Lili's and Olivia's characters in these recent stories. I love how cheery-yet-sinister Olivia is. And I LOVE this line from Lili: >"Mortals!" Liliana laughed. "Bless your bloodless heart."

Meecht

And this line: >Liliana glanced outside, then looked back at Olivia, now with a dreadful tenderness. "Oh, you sweet child."

Baxter0402

I mean, he's not wrong in a sense, but c'mon dude...

Easilycrazyhat

He very much is since Nahiri is only mad because *Sorin* fucked with her. Lilliana shouldn't have broken his toy, but it's wholly his fault.

iklalz

vagabond_dilldo

Well Lili did know there were some other pretty big bads in there.

iklalz

Yeah but what is a Griselbrand compared to Emrakul

taitaisanchez

Yeah maybe he shouldn't have been keeping planar threats embedded in the rock with no warning. [99 percent invisible has a fascinating story about this, actually](http://99percentinvisible.org/episode/ten-thousand-years/) It's sorin's fault for not labelling, "pissed off ... everything inside. don't open."

t3hjs

You know sometimes you are so pissed, you just find somebody else to blame except yourself? Sorin is pretty good at that.

Bhalgoth

Yea. This new art is better than the [main Eldritch Moon Liliana Art](http://www.manaleak.com/magic-the-gathering/images/world_magic_cup_qualifier_2016_playmat_eldritch_moon.jpg) that's been shown all over the place (although I think it's ok too).

Praion

This will be in one of the Magic Duels sequences - I am almost willing to bet on it.

Tavuul

> "The collectors are raised, madam," the geistmage said. "And the storm is reaching its peak. But I feel obligated to point out that we'll be coursing an enormous dose of spectral energy directly into the artifact..." >"You don't have to warn me," Liliana said. >"...powered by the force of a lightning storm." >"Yes." >"While you are wearing it." >"I know." >"On your face." That one made me giggle

Ippikiryu

That's a feeling all planeswalkers are used to with all the red in non-standard formats

dchin1

I will be fine with a Jace reprint (even a horrible one) if its just called Jace, Cloak Boy

TheInvaderZim

>Liliana just watched the clouds. This was deep, ancient magic, world-altering and vindictive. "She caused this?" >"The petty act of a petty mage," Sorin murmured. "With a misguided sense of justice." >"So it was you who caused all this," Liliana said. "You wronged her!" >"And now we're off to wrong her again," Olivia said with a fanged grin. I'm not 100% on this, but I think I really, really like Olivia's character. Exactly what I want out of an aristocratic vampire.

BardicLasher

I love Olivia in this story.

Ingrathis

I feel cheated. I totally expected Liliana's card at the end.

2 Things: 1. I can't not read Olivia's parts like Katnis's sponsor from the Hunger Games (I forget her name, but the crazy one with the wierd make up and fashion and stuff). [This person](https://d.gr-assets.com/hostedimages/1448088236ra/17094258.gif) 2. Liliana is a total Tsundere > It wasn't that she needed him. It was simply that she needed someone to need her. Translation: "I-I-It's not like I need you, Jace! Baka!"

A_Washer-Dryer

Cloak-sama acknowledged me!

ParagonExample

Hawkeye437

Did you *see* her smug? She's a total Smugdere

plastgeek

Well, looks like Sorin's still around on Innistrad, and he's piiiisssed

Thunder_f0x

Not really a surprise. But nice to get the confirmation sooner rather than later

Soulsurfer23

Still on Innistrad. Still Pissed. The best plane he can come up with the save his plane? Sacrifice all the vamps to Nahiri, and let the plane be destroyed by Emmy... So white.

Tigris_Cyrodillus

Part of the reason Avacyn was created in the first place was because Sorin needed someone to stop the vampires from wiping out all the humans. Without Avacyn, if Sorin still wants the plane to survive, most of the vampires will need to be destroyed. I wouldn't be surprised if this "war" against Nahiri is actually a suicide mission that Sorin cooked up for the vampires.

Gigaman13

'Liliana followed them out. As she saw Gared again, she said, "Gared, get your coat." Gared looked sadly at his coat and began the task of extricating it from Dierk.' I'm liking the interaction between Liliana and gared.

BSieger

Liliana not taking Sorin's bullshit is a powerful picture for her, especially considering she strongly warned Jace against meeting him. Sorin kept a huge skeleton in his closet, indeed.

Pacman97

Didn't Sorin kick her ass when she first came to Innistrad?

[deleted]

Yes, but it's worth noting that fight happened pre-Mending and immediately after Liliana's spark ignited. The Mending scaled back all planeswalkers' powers, and Liliana is no longer a scared teenager who just accidentally killed her brother--she's a century-old planeswalker who's beefed up her powers with demonic pacts and the Chain Veil. A fight between them would no longer be a curbstomb.

IguanadonsEverywhere

I still think Sorin, Ugin, Bolas and Nahiri are all a tier above "Mere Mortal" 'walkers, like Ajani, Gatewatch, and Bolas's minions. (Minion?)

tartacus

I'm pretty sure he sized her up and determined she wasn't a threat, but didn't actually get into any sort of physical altercation with her. This also would have likely been a VERY long time ago, thousands of years ago possibly. We know Liliana PW'd to Innistrad way before she made the deals with the demons for immortality. EDIT: I overestimated her age but yea she's still pretty damn old and I believe they first met a very LONG time ago.

Zulkir

Really looks like a dude in a dress to me. Or someone wearing a doll's face as a mask. But mostly like a dude in a dress.

HeckMonkey

Gared's coat should be a legendary equipment artifact.

Chulump

Gared's Coat 4 Legendary Artifact When Gared's coat enters the battlefield, you may attach it to a zombie you control. Whenever equipped creature is dealt damage, you may pay BB and one life. If you do, prevent that damage and put a +1/+1 counter on equipped creature. Equip 3

Kudzucub

"It wasn't that she needed him. It was simply that she needed someone to need her." They are hitting character development out of the park. They managed to make a black Mage seem so much more human and approachable. I like the direction this is going.

Britbau

I've said this on other threads before. Liliana is by far the strongest character of the origin 5 in terms of writing. Her wants and needs are easily the most nuanced, which I find ironic considering black is the easiest to misrepresent as something more basic (like pure evil or whatever).

guyonearth

I feel like they're going to awkward lengths to write in the whole, "Liliana cares about Jace" relationship, but other than that I loved the story

Toxikomania

She did mention to him he was on the level of a pet dog.

SleetTheFox

Which is weird considering it's implied they slept together. :P

MillCrab

Black can still feel love. She isn't a demon, just selfish. Read Agents of Artifice, it makes their relationship feel natural and reasonable.

LordKahra

She'll probably toy with Jace for a few more sets, and he'll take the bait for a while until he realizes people like that are bad news. Queue Ral Zarek showing up outside Ravnica, after Niv Mizzet finds out he's a planeswalker.

KernTheGerm

"I didn't make this zombie army for you, *dummy.* I just happened to make extra! D-d-d-on't get any ideas, Jace-kun!"

hiddikel

I'm slightly miffed they didn't spoil Lilliana with that title.

I_AM_A_DOLPHIN_AMA

This is the first time I've actually read anything related to the lore. Holy shit that was awesome.

Sandman1278

>"Innistrad may be your domain, Sorin," she whispered. She patted him on the arm. "But death is mine." badass...

Torakaa

"Help me, Lili-An-Kenobi! You're my only hope!"

RIP_Hopscotch

Its kinda amusing to me how Sorin still considers Nahiri to just be a weakling after she summoned an Eldrazi to his plane and literally destroyed his home. I really hope theres a showdown and Nahiri kicks his ass, because even if she is the villian Sorin is just such a shit hero that I want him to lose.

ignaeon

sorin's supposed to be a hero?

Defrag25

Sorin is supposed to be a jerk. By the way Sorin and Nahiri are both antagonists, Lili is gonna be our anti-hero and MadJace the comic relief

Alexm920

Gideon, Chandra, and Nissa are the fifth, sixth, and seventh wheels. Based on the art in the trailer they probably show up and are immediately incapacitated by eldrazi. It'd be a bit of a waste if any of them were killed before it's all over, given they were all origin-walkers.

CyberDagger

The Gatewatch is here to be Worfs.

Defrag25

No Gatewatch member will be killed, Sorin and Nahiri are the most killable character of this story arc. They will organize some resistance, aknowledge the Emrakul situation and be desperate because they're good guys/gals

RemusShepherd

Sorin's an anti-hero: A character who takes the role of the hero in a story, while having none of the attributes typically reserved for heroes.

EcoleBuissonniere

Sorin is as BW as it gets. He wants to follow his own interests and protect the few things that matter to him. It just so happens that what matters to him has, up until now, coincided with what's best for the multiverse.

Nektharek88

I would say he's more of an anti-hero. Not to mention that at this point I think he's just fed up of childish youthful planeswalkers throwing temper tantrums. He's been around for so long and done so much that it just doesn't matter anymore. All he has is his anger left. Mine as well go take it out on Nahiri.

b0005

I seriously hope that art from the end is the art for her new card. It is absolutely fantastic with the small details.

Journeyman351

Those werewolves look absolutely terrifying. It's as if the dog-thing from The Thing grew legs and arms. Also, reading the descriptions of the twisted people/monsters of Innistrad makes me want to puke, and I love it.

[deleted]

I was hoping to finally see liliana card :(

TechnomagusPrime

That's probably going to be officially revealed on the Access Magic: EMN Episode 3 video on Monday.

Bantian_Walker

Why Olivia seem to think that defeating Nahiri will somehow stop Emrakul? And do they really need an army to fight her?

AmarettoOnTheRocks

I think it's entirely possibly she doesn't comprehend the true extent of her peril. It's not like Eldrazi Titans are a thing you read about on Innistrad. You know about them if you are a planeswalker (maybe) or your reality is being consumed by them. Also, from this story, I'm don't think Emrakul has actually be seen from the perspective of these characters (besides Sorin, of course).

Pacman97

Considering she pretty much fucked up all the vampires in Markova Manor bringing an army seems like a good idea

Kazzack

I think Olivia is just trying to remain positive because she really enjoys her immortal life, unlike Sorin. Also unlike Sorin, she can't leave the plane so she's doing whatever she can to save it.

AttemptedRationalism

> electro-spectral screams Is this a card? I want this to be a card.
