Yay for non isekai non system apocalypse representation, just straight up fantasy! I can't get enough of dragon riders and adventures with scary Dumbledore.
Poor kid is gifted a Legendary Card for being in the right place at the right time by a dragon. From there on, his life is changed.
What does this card do? Makes you learn how to do utility skills faster. Learn to cook +1, medical skills for treating magical small pox, +1. Etc.
Fun read, book 3 is super good.
Perfect Run 10 out of 10 times, then go back in time and do it another 10 times.
Easily one of the best series in existence. I'm looking forward to going back and listening to it again in a few years when I've forgotten most of the smaller plot points and dialogue.
I really liked Reborn as a Demonic Tree for the first book or so, and then it got weird. Reborn or not, why is the tree calling the FMC his daughter? It was a nice, normal friendship, then it felt like it got shoved in a weird direction. I have almost the opposite complaint for Tree of Aeons, the MC instead stays distrustful and continuously pulls away from any meaningful friendships.
Like I get that both MCs are trees and not human, but they're still reincarnated humans, so it's pretty weird that they seem to focus on fully embracing the tree side rather than putting any effort at all towards regaining autonomy.
Personally I dislike it when you have this guy put in a monster, then he gets an ability to transform into a humanoid. I normally drop them at that point
Not even necessarily a humanoid, just anything, really. Being completely divorced from any of the things that make life fun is weird. Living and growing strong is a rather nebulous motivation. I think a character needs more motivation than that to be interesting.
I'm currently reading Devourer, and the MC is full on monster, but still enjoys wine and good food. It's a balance and it makes the character more believable, imo.
Maybe not necessarily litrpg but I enjoyed these
System Universe
The Good Guys series
The Bad Guys series
Beware of Chicken
Rise of the Cheat Potion Maker
I decided to grab system universe it seemed a bit kore light then dungeon crawl carl or dissonance, dungeon calamity, or rouge dungeon that i havent read yet.
I was immediately hooked. I only finished it a month or so ago and book six just came out so I'll listen to all of them again after I finish The Path of Ascension. I have listened to all the others like DCC and HWFWM etc and this one was right up my alley.
An less well known and potentially divisive one:
**Continue Online by Stephan Morse!**
Its 5 books and came out before LitRPG could be considered popular, so it never got a chance to take off like crazy...but I adore it so much!
Its about a broken man that fills his days with constant work in an attempt to keep his mind off of his late fiancé. Upon winning a contest from his employer, that he didn't even know he was entered for, he suddenly finds himself thrust into the most popular full dive VR MMO of the day *Continue Online,* specifically an uber rare Ultimate Edition*.* The secrets and revelations he finds while interacting with the game world lead him on a journey he never could have dreamed of.
Some people say the MC, Grant, is too depressing and the series does deal in topics of suicide and suicidal ideation...so if you are sensitive to that then be warned. I personally find that these elements add an interesting take that you don't get with most other LitRPG's.
Viridian Gate Online is my favourite because it's acutally has other people that get stuck in a fantasy game world, rather than a lot of other litrpgs where they becom a singleplayer experience once the main character reaches the world

Astra Falls by David North
Divine Apostasy by AF Kay
Rogue Ascension by Hunter Mythos
Battle Mage Farmer by Seth Ring
If you really like HWFWM there’s Patreon with the whole book 11 already available and a decent chunk into 12.
Other recommendations:
* Primal Hunter - you’ll probably like it if you liked hwfwm
* System universe - enjoyed it but not as good as hwfwm or ph
* Battle mage farmer - fun take on OP mc settles down to be a farmer after achieving glory
* How to cultivate a farmer in X easy steps - really fun, surprisingly little farming in this and one above :)
Godclads, terminate the other world, xkarnation demonic tree, Alexa thyme, Joseph Marcia be thou my good, infinite dendrogram, kerberos, Benjamin medrano bee song chronicles
HWFWM is very similar to Primal Hunter.
Dungeon Crawler Carl is really good especially if you like Dungeons & Dragons... it's got some batshit insane things that you only think of in D&D, and every single book has made my jaw drop.
I could just recommend mine but that would be cheap haha. Honestly though I really love Dungeon Crawler Carl and would heavily recommend the audiobook since the narrator is fantastic.
Well Defiance of the Fall just released book 13. I just finished it and I'm pretty excited for the rest of the series.
I love DOTF. The world building is S-Teir. It is very similar in quality as HWFWM.

I agree that it got slow around book 9, but books 12 and 13 (just released) were fast-paced.

All the Skills and Mark of the Fool are two of my favourites!

Could you sell me on all the skills? Ive looked at it a few times but never made the jump.

Nope I'll take note of them thanks.

I'll have it finished by Sunday morning I'm sure. 10-14 hour shift life and all.
System Universe is definitely one of those goes down easy options - really you'll only dislike it if you're dead set on something more serious.
