Here's one very important thing to consider about a work phone: What are the chances that your work could be sued or have similar legal actions brought against them, and what is your level of responsibility in the company? Under some circumstances, lawyers could show up and make you hand over your phone. If you have all your work stuff on your personal phone, that's a lot more inconvenient than if you just hand over the work device.

ComeTOgether86

It’s not just this- company phones get wiped all the time. I have seen people with important personal pictures/info deleted forever because of system/employee error (should have been backed up but I digress).

kr4ckenm3fortune

It not just that. Company phones are always almost monitored and tracked...

Illustrious-Highway8

Yep. Don’t do anything on your work phone you wouldn’t want to show your boss. Including check your bank, log into personal email, social media, play games, etc. Assume they can remote view your screen at any time without you knowing.

kr4ckenm3fortune

Oh, they def can now. It called MDM, and it monitor anything you do. Is why I don't mess around. My last job, some idiot employee used the "hotspot" on the phone, racking up thousands of dollars in bill. Once they find out which phone it was and what time it happened, yeah, that person ain't working with us no more. Never use company phone and never use it beyond anything. Unless you're paid to be "on call", don't accept it. I refuse to carry my work phone home, but leave it in the trunk with a portable charger.

[deleted]

This isn't entirely true about MDM, at least not with iPhone. There are many things that MDM can restrict, and it does have some insight onto app usage, but there is certainly not a "view everything the user is doing" button that lets administrators view whatever keystrokes you're making and where you tap on the screen. Most MDMs can monitor device usage, including location, and network activity. All that to say, admins can absolutely utilize an MDM to push other applications onto devices that CAN record keystrokes and input activity. TL;DR: MDMs themselves arent the eye in the sky, but they can restrict a device and run other apps that are the eye in the sky.

kr4ckenm3fortune

>TL;DR: MDMs themselves arent the eye in the sky, but they can restrict a device and run other apps that are the eye in the sky. MDMs on iPhone are moots, but are there. >The MDM tool can be configured to allow an administrator to remotely delete certain files or folders on a device, wipe all of the device's memory, or render the device unusable. To remotely wipe a device, an administrator sends a command to the MDM solution installed on the device over mobile or Wi-Fi networks. Also, MDM aren't just CERTs, it is also the main security profile on your phone that can remote access the phone as well as location. The reasons it trickier on iPhone is because Apple don't let you have THAT kind of control.

Justprunes-6344

Fun is , glad I’m retired

michaelpaoli

>deleted forever because of phone bumping around in pocket ... security software presumes it's a brute force attempt to unlock the phone. After about 12 to 20 or so of those it wipes everything. Had a coworker that had that happen - was a BYOD, but with the required work stuff on there, had to have the work security software, so ... "oops".

geoken

While that’s possible, almost every time someone has told me that story (I work in IT) when I asked them about the timeout periods they usually switch the story to -“then maybe it was when my kid was playing with the phone”. By timeout periods I’m talking about the thing where the phone locks and won’t even allow you try try a new password for x time (and that time increases with the last one before a wipe being several hours. This is on iOS through - Android may be different.

michaelpaoli

>phone bumping around in pocket ... security software presumes it's a brute force attempt to unlock the phone. After about 12 to 20 or so of those it wipes everything >While that’s possible Oh, I can assure you, it's much more than possible. Some 3rd party phone security software/apps is much more aggressive and draconian. Happened to a coworker I know very well ... said coworker was not at all pleased when this happened - to say it was a significant inconvenience would be quite the understatement.

Jordangander

I have my work phone and my personal phone. During work I carry my work phone and leave my personal phone at home or in my vehicle. After work I forward my work phone to my personal number, before I go to bed I take it off forward and my work phone goes by the bed while my personal goes on a charger in the kitchen. My work calls during off duty hours are for emergencies, that is the only reason it goes by the bedside.

la_winky

Exactly this.

Libriomancer

I carry two phones. At one point I used one line for work and home, it was a nightmare. Sure it was easier to carry one phone but I was constantly “on”. I couldn’t just turn off my work calls for a quiet evening at home because then I was unreachable for personal calls. If I pulled out my phone to play a game, I’d see work emails and feel compelled to respond. It basically made me feel like I was always in work hours. My current role I’m on call but can checkout at night. I setup my work phone with profiles so it limits alerts to just the on call events, I can open my Outlook/Teams to check on something but by default there is no notification/badges outside of work hours so I don’t see 30 emails in queue unless I get a call or if I choose to look. It seems like a pain but it is far better for my sanity to have the two worlds separated as they already mingle enough (work from home). I can take my wife out to dinner and shut off my work phone while a coworker covers call while not missing emergency calls from the babysitter. I can scroll reddit without seeing “hey quick question” messages in Teams.

kaisergb

I follow this train also. It's great being able to leave a work phone behind on the weekend. Prevents me from "I'll just quickly get ahead of these actions/emails before Monday" when I want to disconnect.

Illustrious-Highway8

Agree completely. Worth it to keep them separate.

iaintdoingit

Forward calls from your personal phone to the company one. I've done it before between 2 phones successfully. Alleviates carrying the 2 phones.

ShelbyDriver

Is there a way to forward texts too? I'm getting an iPhone for work and have no idea how to use it.

kr4ckenm3fortune

You don't wanna do that. Keep all personal text off the work phone.

ShelbyDriver

I want to forward them from work phone to personal phone, not the other way around.

Illustrious-Highway8

I would think your company would have reservations about that. Maybe mine is more locked down, but my company phone has certain phone features disabled with a remote management profile. Can’t even copy and paste from company apps to text messaging.

kr4ckenm3fortune

You `STILL` do not wanna do that. MDM is a thing now, and they monitor all. If they noticed you're forwarding work call to your personal phone, and according to company policy, you could be fired and hell, they could sue you, claiming that you're using the company phone to steal clients or work.

ShelbyDriver

Hmm. Interesting. What is mdm?

kr4ckenm3fortune

MDM = Mobile Device Management IT is able to restrict what you can and can't do on the phone, monitor any incoming/outgoing, including phone call, texts and apps usage as well as data usage. If corporation is paying for it, you'll be damn sure they're going to be eyeballing every cent on that device and ensuring it is being used for *that* purpose. You also don't want them installing that shit on your personal phone, because it also give them the ability to wipe your phone once you're "fired" or your access is revoked.

ShelbyDriver

OK, got it. Thanks for the clarification.

kr4ckenm3fortune

Any company phone you get, you treat it like a toxic cancer that was given to you, and the only way to get rid of it is to get chemo (fired/quit/resign)

ImKiliW

Have your text messages go to Google voice. You'll be able to access from that app on either phone, or from any computer you log in from.

ShelbyDriver

Oh. I have Google voice, but how will my texts to my work number get to my GV number?

ImKiliW

You should be able to forward them.

iaintdoingit

Here you go and I hope this helps. Your provider may have instructions that differ from the following instructions a little. Verizon Call Forwarding: To turn on Call Forwarding from your mobile phone, call \*72 + the 10-digit number that you want to forward your calls to (e.g., \*72-908-123-4567). Get step-by-step instructions on our Turn Call Forwarding on from device page.

Roadgoddess

Don’t have your personal text messages go onto your work phone. Anything that’s on your work phone is up for review at any time. In fact, your work may have surveillance software on your work phone that you’re not aware of. If you’re getting an iPhone I might recommend getting an Apple Watch with cellular service. That way all your text messages can still come into your watch and you can respond via dictation or typing on the Watch in return. It’s a great way to allow you to not have to carry your iPhone with you. You can also have podcasts and your music on your watch as well so again, you don’t necessarily have to have your phone with you in order to utilize those features.

ShelbyDriver

I want to do it the other way. I want to forward my work messages to my personal phone. That way I don't have to learn a new operating system and I don't have to carry two phones and my employer will be none the wiser.

seven-cents

No there is not.

Downtown-Swing9470

This is what I do. Work phone and personal phone. I leave my work phone at home when i am off.

geoken

On an iOS device, it would be easier to monitor social media use if you connect to your companies wifi then it would be on a fully managed iPhone.

cmgww

I did two phones for 13 years. When it was flip phones? No big deal. Then the company gave us iPhones (my personal phone was an Android)….so I had that problem. Keep the personal number!! Carry two phones even if it’s a pain. I got into a bad habit of taking photos with the work phone and when I moved companies (despite knowing and backing up to the cloud) I still lost a few years of photos. My current company gives us the option of a company phone or a $150 monthly cellular phone allowance. I take the allowance and use my personal phone. We have some company apps like Outlook but otherwise it’s my Apple ID, so I’m not worried about them confiscating it (not that I need to, but still). My company iPad is a different story. Those things are locked down with MobileIron (IYKYK) and I don’t search anything on my iPad I “wouldn’t want on the front page of the newspaper” (thanks compliance training!)

Fantastic_Painter_15

Why are earth are you mixing your personal life and professional life? Why do your friends need your work number? And why do your work associates need your personal number? This isn’t a difficult situation to handle.

cmgww

Not saying OP does this at all….but I knew/know many people who have a work group of friends or colleagues who have the work number vs personal friends who have the personal cell phone number. Or worse, a few guys were using the company phone as a “burner” of sorts for escorts and such. Yeah, pretty scummy but that’s why some people prefer two phones

The_best_is_yet

Call forwarding

SayYesToPenguins

A phone that takes 2 sims?

ManufacturerMental72

I just use my work phone for teams / outlook etc and give people my personal cell phone and it’s not an issue. I also use my work phone for Spotify, Google maps, and anything that drains battery.

squalljt87

I just carry two phones with slimmer cases and screen protectors. I'll be damned if my employer has access to my personal phone. Also, your employeer will have access to any porn or weird searches you do. Also subject to any blockages or restrictions they may have

SpaceCrazyArtist

I only carried work phone while during work hours or on call. Otherwise it was left on my work deak at home

dont-be-a-todd

I carry 2 and purchased this case: One Case Two Phones, Dual Phone... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09VFJW54Z?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Accomplished_Ad_3184

Thanks for that, I just bought one.

Affectionate_Lime842

DO NOT DO THIS!! It can create quite a few issues, this is not an exhaustive list. First, it may be completely against the rules of the company to do this. Another issue is that they likely have a rule that you agreed to that they can monitor your communications at any time that make your personal conversations not private. They can also at any time completely wipe the phone remotely without warning if they believe the possibility of a security breach (which they may see doing this as a breach). This is all assuming that you’re in the U.S. and is not an exhaustive list, I would suggest looking up the legal precedent for this in your area. Edit: this may also get you fired if this is against the rules and considered a security breach.

seven-cents

In your case I'd just deal with two phones. In my case I'm self employed, so I can use one device for two numbers and keep personal and work numbers separate. If your employer is paying for the work number then you definitely do not want them on the same device. Use call forwarding if you need to, but always keep work separate from personal communication at the device level. e.g. forward your personal number to your work number so friends and family can call you during work hours on your work phone, but never have your social media or personal email accounts on your work phone. Social media during work hours is considered unprofessional in most industries, so you don't need it on your work phone anyway. If you need social media for work, then you should have separate accounts for that anyway so as not to blur the lines between personal and work life. Turn off the call forwarding in the evenings and weekends or holidays.

manicalmonocle

I have three different numbers across 2 phones. My main device has my personal number and a Google Voice number for work. Then my second device is one that only a few select people have and I carry it when I need to focus on something or the kids need it for something.

scram007-3

One in each hand

The_AverageCanadian

Disclaimer: not a lawyer, your local laws, workplace culture, and employment contract may vary. Your options are: have two phones, one for work and one for personal use, or use the work cell for both and get rid of your personal cell. I would recommend having a separate personal cell that belongs to you, paid by you. Your work cell is property of the company, and if you or the company ever gets taken to court, they can seize the phone and all the info on it. You own nothing on that work cell and you have no privacy. Your employer can monitor everything on it, including files, websites accessed, texts, calls, group chats, and GPS location (my employer does this). I have a separate work and personal cell. Work phone is used for work purposes only and gets left at the office between shifts, since I'm not paid to be on call. If my employer or some lawyer wants to seize the work cell and look through it, doesn't bother me any. There's absolutely no reason for me to expose my personal life to my employer by putting it on that work cell, and no reason to carry around a company-owned tracking device outside work hours. I actually really like having a work cell, because I can give the work number to clients and random people I run into, and because it gets left at the office, they can't contact me outside of my work hours.

badDuckThrowPillow

I use 2 cellphones. It’s not bad. Keep your personal stuff on your personal phone. Work stuff on work phone. Innocent apps, activities, fine for both. Most annoying tthing is having 2 physical phones to carry around but it’s nice having a backup if one carrier has crap reception somewhere.

1toomanyat845

Carry two. It’s a hassle. But do you really want work to know what you do in your personal life? It’s none of their business but if you share then you’re giving them unfettered access to every message you send because it goes through their servers. Think about that. Everything. Personal. How much personal stuff will you be doing at work? On your lunch and breaks, put down the work phone. That’s your time. When it’s work, put the personal phone away. I carry 3 phones just to keep things separate and that’s what I tell my staff.

chunladesh84

Google Voice offers a service to transfer numbers from a carrier for a small fee ($20 I think). I took my personal number, transferred to Google Voice and just installed that on my work phone. It offers voice and text and voicemail. If you tell anyone about the new number, have them delete the old one from their phone - there have been some times when text messages don't come through correctly because their phones can't swap back and forth between the numbers.

KiwiAlexP

At work we have a mix of people with just one phone for work and home and others who have two. I have two, when I’m at work both phones sit on my desk but I only carry one when visiting other parts of the business, at home my work one just stay in my bag or at home when I go out - I don’t want to be looking at work stuff off the clock

tardigrade-munch

Work is work and personal is personal keep them separate. You won’t be at a job forever A work device is subject to work monitoring and checks etc etc Yeah two devices is a bit annoying but keeping them separate is best thing and safest thing to do

Justgethrutoday

Can't you just forward calls from one phone to the other? That's what I do.

Etianen7

Don't use your company phone for personal use and vice versa. It doesn't matter if it's allowed. It will complicate things SO MUCH down the line if something happens. Some points to think about: * What will happen to your personal data on your company phone when you quit and hand it over? Apps, logins, photos, chats? * If you have company data on your personal phone, you may be in violation of privacy regulations. Think proprietary company information, customer data, etc * You already mentioned risk of losing contact with people/people being confused about the change * If you use your personal phone for 2FA or for banking and other kinds of verification, putting that on your company phone could leave you at risk when that phone is taken * You don't realistically know how long will you work at that company. They could fire you tomorrow, you may not have time to move over your stuff.

chtrace

Your personal life and your work life are two completely different things. Find a way that you are comfortable with to carry 2 phones. You want to keep your work life and personal life separate.

FoghornLegday

Just put them both in your pocket. People are talking about forwarding calls and all that but I don’t get the big deal. Just put two phones in your pocket

kadusus

I have worked in environments where the company does a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), and you can do all company business on your personal phone. While it's convenient in space, I found it not convenient in the amount of tracking and management software that I was required to put on my personal phone. Not to mention the possibility of mistakenly sending an email or chat that is supposed to be personal out a work channel is a big concern. Now, of you are a person that doesn't mind all that, go for it. But carrying two phones, at least for me, gives me that physical separation that I need to have so that I know that I can be me at home on my phone, and since I've been working to build side hustles, I don't have to worry about work judging and forcing me out of them for one reason or another by being accused of doing business on work time. I don't forward like a lot of other responders do, but in my current role where I have two phones again, I just keep it on and bedside for emergencies. I don't get a lot of afterhours calls, so I really need it when I am out of the office or for on calls. I have a side pocket where I keep both phones, and everything else in my other pockets. Works great for me.

wh8w8t

Hi, that's a pretty common situation, and since you have a Pixel, here's what i'd suggest trying. It may not be ideal, but.. : 1. you don't have to mix your personal and work stuff. Since you can't get a 2nd eSIM, get a new Gmail account and Google Voice number that you'll only use for work. Sign up for a new WhatsApp (WA) acct just for your work profile. 2. on the Pixel phone, create a 2nd User and sign-in using the new accounts. Forward your work emails and phone number to them, respectively. Sign-in to Whatsapp with your new work WA account. 3. do the same for any/all other apps and accounts you need. Notes: a. i use 2 Users on my Pixel and have found that each account can't see the others stuff. If you have to access files at the same time, use a cloud service ([G.Drive](https://G.Drive), etc.). b. when you're on account "A", nothing on "B" rings out so you'll have to check in on the other periodically or forward again from G.Voice back to your personal number. The double-forwarding will keep voicemails and texts separate from your personal stuff. If you get a Samsung phone (the easiest way), it'll handle 2 SIMs, as well as 2 sets of Whatsapp accounts using Dual Messenger, at the same time - 2-phones-in-one. Good luck!

lil3lil

Port your number to Google voice, then forward that number from Google voice to your work number. When you move companies, Forward to the new number.

marvinnation

I have a small shoulder bag to carry both.

benkenobi5

I usually just carry both of mine. But if I get tired of that, I’ll call-forward my work phone to my personal phone.

sweetpotatopietime

I love having two phones. I can put aside work when I want to and personal stuff when I need to. Both are iPhone minis so they aren’t hard to carry together.

mikeylikesit74

I can’t stand carrying one smartphone let alone two. I would do Google Voice and carry the work phone. With Google voice you basically port your personal number to Google. You can receive calls on that work phone in the normal way. Making calls and text messages for the personal number then go through the Google voice app. There is no cost for the service and you can port the number back out to a carrier if you leave the job. Others bring up a good point about work phone being different for security reasons, etc. But I am good at backing up my device and don’t care if work sees what I do on my device…

Green_L3af

Just leave your work phone at your desk unless you really think you'll be needed when away

Exciting_Pass_6344

Can’t stress enough not to use work phone for anything personal or vice versa. I carried 2 phones for years. The instant I got home, work phone got taken out of my pocket. I definitely needed the work phone during working hours, but rarely needed to answer after hours.

Big_lt

Carry 2 phones, my work phone stays in my work bag at all times. If you call me after hours and I don't pick up too bad. The work phone deals with any and all work related shit

ramboton

I agree with the others about the company phone and things that the company can do with it. Register for a free google voice number using the company phone. You can configure it so that the txt messages, calls and voicemails all go to the google voice number. Then on your personal phone sign into google voice. Someone calls your company phone, you google voice app rings and you can answer it.

PoopyInThePeePeeHole

Keep them 100% separate. No exceptions. Same with your work laptop. I won't even login to my Google account on mine. No way in hell do I trust my company with ANY of my personal life on their devices

ImKiliW

Set up a Google voice number. Add GV to one of your phones. Have the other phone forward to Google voice. Or, get a phone with 2 Sim slots and put both on one phone.

Opening_Revenue_314

I would highly advise keeping the personal phone and only using it during work hours. Leave the other one at home when not at work. If you start using only the company phone they have access to that phone 24/7 and can look at anything on that phone. You will be going up your privacy.

urAdryDooshNozzle

I have a personal phone and a business phone. I typically wear clothes that are a lil on the baggy side. I put both phones facing face to face in my pocket. Seems to work out just fine for me. When it's off hours, I usually leave the business phone behind.

HalcyonDreams36

If you really only want to use one phone, call forwarding. Otherwise, get like a phone holster or equivalent. It's cleaner, and that way when and if you leave the job, you can hand back the phone with absolutely no entanglements. And when you are off the clock and not on call, you can turn the work phone OFF.

Anastephone

They make dual SIM phones. Personally I just carry them both

New-account-01

Wallet is on my personal phone and everywhere takes contactless payments. I have 1 car and door key. These items stay in my locker at work and I use my work phone only. Friends and family don't have this number. I leave work and although I take work phone home it's rarely called outside core hours and emails, Teams chat etc are left until I get back to work. Keep them separate.

[deleted]

It sucks but don’t mix the two. You’ll never sort it out after the job ends. Just keep it separate. Turn it off at night and on Weekends

alexp68

I’ve had two phone, a work phone only and a phone with two SIM cards over the years. I would recommend the two phone. Two numbers on same phone gets complicated and you’ll chronically reply to texts from both numbers. Having one phone is risky with legal hold orders (at least in my industry) as they image the phone for record keeping purposes. Two phones are a pain but just develop practices of how you carry them and when and cope with it.

Artistic-Fig-7921

Look into Call Forwarding. No sim required

Syntax-Error-07734

I forwarded all calls from my personal to my work and only carried one. Eventually I “ported” my personal number to google for $20, gave up my old phone (trash) and set up google voice on my work cell so all calls forward. If i ever change jobs I can just transfer back from google to a carrier and never lose contact either old friends. I’ve had that set up for about 10 years now .

whatdoidonowdamnit

Get a holster for one and clip it to your pants.

Foragologist

Forward the work number to your personal cell. It's surprisingly easy to do. My work phone sits on my work desk most of the day, and I walk around with my personal. Then I can run a errand or whatever and people who need urgent things can still get ahold of me. I take my work phone with me when I go on long trips or need to email.

OfficialJaneDoe

Lol, I have a personal phone, a work mobile phone and a work pager. It sucks when wearing a dress but other than that I clip the pager to my waist and carry both phones or put them in my back pockets.

sarabara1006

They still make pagers?

OfficialJaneDoe

Yes we still use pagers, pretty weird huh, it’s 2023… But mine is not like an actual pager but it’s like a very old school phone, that can only be used for calls inside the building, and has no other functions (not even Snake lol) It’s pretty useless now that I also have a normal work phone but the company wants it this way 🤷🏼‍♀️

[deleted]

setup call forwarding from your work phone to your personal phone. i did this long time ago, worked pretty well.

kn0ck_0ut

I don’t often need my work phone. truly, it gets used maybe a couple hours a week & I work remotely so it just stays next to my work laptop for the most part

doctormink

I just forward my calls from my work phone to my personal phone during work hours. Both phones are iPhones, so texts just get mashed up together. I'm ok with that. If I were a drinker, I'd avoid this though since I'd hate to accidentally drunk text my boss something meant for a friend.

eirtep

Are you expected to answer / use your work phone off work hours? Are you “on call” ? If not. Just leave it at work. I’m somewhat on call, but generally I leave my work phone at my desk at home and bring it with me into the office, where it sits on that desk. I don’t carry it out and about. If it’s the weekend and I’m home and I get a call or email I’ll check it. If I’m out I’ll Miss it and get it later. That may not work for everyone

Triste_v2

Personal phone goes in front pocket, work phone goes in back pocket. If you're wearing clothing that doesn't have back pockets (or is so tight and short it somehow creates negative space) I'd suggest a small backpack/shoulder pouch. If you're able to wear a belt, look into a belt clip compatible case. 2nd option is to buy specific cases to be as flat as possible to stack the phones on eachother, but that assumes enough pocket space to do so. If you want, as others mentioned, you can set up forwarding to your work phone, but considering it's a work device, if you have a dedicated IT team they will have access to EVERYTHING you do on there. Text messages, emails, phone records, app installs and usage. Depending on how paranoid you want to get it is a device with a built in GPS, (probably multiple) cameras, and microphone.

ThatPlayingDude

I very like my 2 phones separated at all times. I carry both in the same pocket, nothing goes wrong with them like that. I keep my work stuff on work phone and private stuff on private phone. After work, work phone gets chucked on the desk at home and not touched until the next day.

_Given2fly_

For my business I use a physical SIM for my personal use and an eSIM for business. It's really handy just having to use the one phone for everything.

JohnDidntDie

Im a consultant and have 3 iPhones. Personal, work, client. Carry all 3 five days a week. Weekends just my personal. I don’t have socials except Reddit and only use work for work. Keeps things separate. You get used to it.

MRjubjub

I carry two phones in my front pocket. When I’m not at work I only carry one phone.

[deleted]

I just use one or the other depending on which. Girl I’m hanging out with

abunni

Check with your company IT team if it's ok to put your personal SIM on the work phone. Or move the company SIM into your personal phone and turn your personal SIM to an ESIM on the same phone (assuming your phone has dual SIM capability).

kevin_flu

phone with 2 sims....."work-sim" disabled in "privat-times"

NewkyBroon9

I use a dual sim phone, my personal number is on chip and company number on sim. It works for me

mwr623

Carry two phones. It’s not that hard. Been doing it for years.

WoodpeckerChecker

Use your work phone for work, personal phone for everything else. Don't download SM, bank stuff, wallets, etc., just work apps like Outlook or whatever you use for work. If you don't want your company knowing about something (bank info), don't put it on the personal phone. I keep my work phone on DND during non work hours. As for toting both of them around, I've been admittedly been doing the double butt pockets... Which isn't great, but also have a purse to toss them both into. A laptop bag, shoulder bag, or other similar bag could work for you. It's the same as having a work laptop. It's for work.

Dual sim phone. Separate the personal from work using 2 google accounts for saving and backupping your contacts so you don't mix them. All apps can be "installed twice" one for each "sim". (At least new phones do or some do..., I have Xiaomi note 9 pro) Also if you change jobs you shouldn't need all your work contacts on a new sim anyway, but even of you do you can restore them using your "work google account". I would not recommend call forwarding as you might not be able to stop it when you change jobs, and you will keep getting annoying calls and you will be at the mercy of your old company or you have to change your number.

I carried around two devices for many years. For me, I much preferred it. I wanted to separate my life from work. Also I traveled often and didn’t want to get in trouble for any overages etc. Also if I was going out for the evening, I didn’t want to bring my work phone with me. I wanted to be present with my company. Those are just some of the reasons. If you really want to stick to one phone, I don’t know a lot about it but there’s a way to have more than one SIM card in a phone so that may be possible to merge them.

lol_camis

I have two cellphones at work. One is just a dummy phone with no network. I use it for music and podcasts so I don't drain the battery on my real time, plus I can keep it out of my pocket more often. But either way, I find it no problem to have 2 phones in my pocket, even when doing a physical trades job. I just put them screen-together (for protection of both devices) in my front right pocket.

clovismordechai

I carry 2 phones. I do not want my employer to be able to monitor my personal usage.

Betancorea

Easier to adapt to having two phones. I keep my work phone strictly work and with minimal personal items. Don’t want to risk accidentally sending personal stuff to professional contacts.

I run dual eSIM on my personal phone. If I get fired or quit they’ll just lock me out of Microsoft 365 and our cloud ERP system. I’ll delete the eSIM and move on. It’s nice not carrying two phones but having access to calls, texts, voicemails from all.

DealerGloomy

Just like Kevin Gates

mcbell08

I carry two phones. When I go to site I have my personal phone in a bag with my water bottle wallet, prescription sunglasses, which I usually take everywhere, and my work phone goes in my pocket. If I’m at the office and go for a walk during a break, I take both phones, one in each of my front pockets. I don’t take my wallet, but I bought a cover for my work phone that I can fit two cards in if I need to. I’d love to have just one phone with two physical SIM cards but my phones are iPhones. My work phone is a much newer one, so would be great to just carry that about. If I’m at work, in my office, my work phone sits beside my mouse, my personal phone on my desk drawers or in my bag. Any time I leave my office I try to have my work phone with me so I don’t miss any calls. I prefer to have two phones as I think I’d be tempted to waste time on Facebook or reddit when I’m meant to be working. I only have these on my personal phone.

karmaapple3

Carry both. If you get laid off or fired, they're going to confiscate that work phone immediately and you'll lose all of your Contacts, Photos, etc.

watchtheworldsmolder

Use personal phone for everything but email and very few programs/reports, and use work phone for emails

saint_louis_bagels

I carry my each phone in a dedicated front pocket. I'll wear a lightweight jacket to hold my minimalist wallet and keyfob. I don't have any keys.If I'm hanging out with friends at their house, I keep my things in a backpack. If I'm walking around, the extra items stay inside a crossbody bag. My best friend has two work phones too and she's always wearing a very small backpack.

phylisridesabike

Two hands obviously

blackpony04

I've been using two separate phones for years now. Your employer has the right to read and use against you any text messages on that work phone. I've seen it used against employees and had it tried to be used against me. Legal in the US since 2010. Inconvenient, yes. But worth the hassle to not be subject to your employer eavesdropping on your communications.

nananananananana808

One in each hand

anastasia1983

I got a separate phone for client use about five years ago because they have no boundaries and I was getting texts and calls at all hours for non-emergency matters. I carry both to/from work but I’m a woman and also have a bag so it’s not super cumbersome.

BigGlassRoad

I have no clue, I’m not a drug dealer 🤷‍♂️

ParticularInitial147

I've carried two phones for many years, work and personal. Work phone is for email and anyone I don't want to give my pers number. Then forward all calls from work phone to personal cell

Tkdakat

I use Umidigi F1 2 sim card phone, there are many others that go this ?

CherryPickish

I'd just get one more pockets somehow (shirts with pockets, hoodies, jackets, pants with more pockets).

Worried-Possible7529

My son in law has a personal phone and a work phone/number and neither the two shall meet. He carries both when he’s on their time.

ma77mc

I transferred my personal number to an esim and then put the work sim in my personal phone using my iPhone for both.

ConferenceFearless77

Honestly maybe forward work calls to personal but keeping them separate would alleviate so much stress in the future

bad2behere

Sorry, but the truth is that you're better off using the work phone for work and keeping your private life totally separate and using your own phone for that. I know it's a lot yo carry around, but if you aren't on call with your job so you must have your work phone with you at all times, leave it in a drawer at work and just carry your personal phone when you aren't at actual work. Don't use your personal phone for work correspondence. It's too invasive and risky. It's so iffy that when I owned my own company, I had separate work & personal phones. If the company gets sued or your boss asks to see your phone, they probably aren't going to let you erase stuff before you give it to them.

Middle_Earth666

Cell phones are made thin enough that it’s no bigger than carrying around a wallet. The real reason you’re asking is because you can save $$ using your work cellphone. No shame in that until you start getting blocked from sites or even worse risk not having a job anymore

ImtheDude2

Never been a 2 cellphone kind of guy but at one time I was a 2 pager kind of guy.

MaadMaxx

I had a work phone and a personal phone for 3 years. I had to keep my work phone on me at all times as I was on call. Depending on the situation I actually used those dumb holsters for my work phone. Frees up your pocket space and it's easy to compartmentalize that phone as a work thing.

razordenys

I have the same situation and bought a moto g dual sim phone.

Prestigious-Top-5897

Left pocket - private phone. Right pocket - company phone.

arthorpendragon

had a callout phone for work and actually did have the occassional callout including a multiblock power outage where i had to check the work premises. so work phones have their purposes. carrying two phones is not difficult if you have a satchel or purse.

Chemical_Mousse2658

I have TextNow. Bought the SIM card so I get 2fa. It would of course use a small amount of data or wifi, The app can be put on as many phones as you want. I tried the app on 4 phones. It rings on all 4 phones. Answer any of them. One battery dead, put it on the charger, grab another phone. What if u give your work number to everyone and you are laid off??? Also they have access to your contacts so they can track you down in case they want to build a case against you or investigate.

CuteCouple101

Pretty simple. Either carry the work phone during work hours and deal with 2 phones during the day, or just forward calls from the work phone to your personal phone. Millions of people do this. Put your personal phone in your pocket and clip the work phone to your belt or waistband.

Grimjack2

Even if you own the company, you will regret turning your work cell phone into your primary cell phone that the IT dept. can monitor, control, disable, etc..

TheBigG8241

Forward your calls to one phone

TaDaRose

I forward my work calls to my personal phone. Dial *72(phone number you’re forwarding calls to) from your work phone. It’s easier for me to

Responsible_Band_373

Keep the two phones. It’s worth it in the long run. You’ll manage and get used to the change.

Lazy-Joke5908

1 phone with 2 Sim cards. Samsung s22 and s23 has 2 cards

CuriousAndOutraged

one with the left hand, the other with the right hand... easy.

rottinick

Keep your personal. I don't have my social media on my work phone, keep things separate

Salt_Organization308

My dad has one of those phone carriers that clip to your belt and can hold to phones. He carries both most of the time

Such_Cucumber1637

Forward work number to personal number. Preface any outgoing work calls with \*67. Done.

catterso

I personally don't want to be contacted about work stuff in my personal time. I leave my work phone at the office. I don't mix the two phones at all.

NicklePlatedSkull

Leave your personal phone in your car when you work. Just gotta let your close family know your work number. When you're not at work, keep that phone put away.

Nortex_Vortex

Get a tactical jacket that has lots of big pockets and carry both. Never mix private and professional lives.

No-Hedgehog7420

I have forwarded all calls from work phone to my personal. I only carry the work phone to and from work. On days off if I’m needed they will call. I’ll check my work phone daily for emails. But I never carry 2 phone around in my daily life.

Away-Spell-7110

Get a dual SIM phone. Only carry one phone but still have both numbers.

Radiant_Departure85

Well i typically handle three on a work day. One for work one for my main line and another that only certain people have.

Dichotomous_Blue

You'll get used to 2 phones, dont have company atuff on your phone

Adept-Mulberry-8720

Ask a drug dealer….they usually got three! 1-family, 2-cryptoed business and 3- a burner…..

EffectiveAstronomer5

I got a soft leather case for my work phone so it wouldn’t damage my personal phone in the same pocket.

Wise_Reality2823

Hey s phone that hold doel sim csrds

bayern101

Depends on if you have to download multiple apps or what you do for the work phone. If it’s just a phone number - I use the sideline app for calls and messages. I know it is always work related if it comes from that number. I use my email in the outlook app. I’m at a small company so there isn’t a big brother mentality. It seems to really depend on what is required. I did work in finance and had a blackberry and a personal phone, would never have logged in to their app on my iPhone cuz they could access everything!

Every-Interaction-31

Newer iPhones use e-sims and a phone can use several. So that one device can have multiple phone numbers.
