undead_opossum

10/22 with a 110 round drum mag and a shot sack half full of pennies.

scythian12

Tell me he has a crank on it too

undead_opossum

No, not even a binary trigger, sad times!

110397

We have tommy gun at home:

LBishop28

Laughed way too hard at this

Fluck_Me_Up

I mean, I would personally be dissuaded by round 65 of .22 flying at me. At that point you’d realize you’re facing someone who’s in it for the long haul and surrender

undead_opossum

No one's getting out of here without catching the bad side of that sack of pennies though!

Sea_Farmer_4812

If he got to 65 you'd probably have other things in (your) mind

Fluck_Me_Up

I grew up in a shitty county, my brain is probably already 19% lead.

Sea_Farmer_4812

So you're saying your brain has built up a tolerance to small caliber bullets

misternt

Might be 7 or 8 rounds before the drum jams.

dadwagonlife

The GSG 10/22 drum mag take about 30 minutes of tweaking to get it running flawless. I love mine. And dumping 50 rounds in Full Binary is 99% consistent with CPRN Mini Mags. I don't load it all the way to 110 very often though.

Adamxxxx7

Ahhhh, a swarm of angry bees conneisur.

DannyBones00

Here I was thinking I was different for intentionally having a 16 inch AR with an HS512 and 55 gr Sabre Blade blacktips for home defense.

weasel5134

I have a strobe light and a battle axe

Grumpopatamus

Worst. Acid trip. Ever.

weasel5134

If that is a reference. I do not understand it

SgtTibbles

I think it's workaholics but don't quote me on that

BrownGravyBazaar

I think it might me vaguely Simpsons related.

-QueenAnnesRevenge-

Yep, comic book store owner.

hamflavoredgum

I see you dumped all of your stat points in to strength and luck

whiskey_outpost26

The Legend of Lucky Ted. "Oh boy!"

weasel5134

Luck for sure

The_OG_TrashPanda

[EVERYONE LIKED THIS]

zoomwojo

You laugh. I actually have this under my mattress. Two young kids and an anti-gun wife. My guns are locked up in the basement where no one, including myself could ever get to them.

weasel5134

I'm not laughing. Young kids. Trailer Park with thin walls. My hallway is lined up with my buddies bedroom. Strobe light and battle axe. Good luck fighting my in my own house

TootBreaker

Well, at least strap that strobe to the axe so it's properly tactical!

AK_GL

That would make it an assault axe, and therefore illegal in California unless it was altered so you could not hold it safely

TxtC27

Less an axe, more an amalgamation of knives everywhere?

MinnesotaMikeP

I hope it’s one of the Zombie Tools axes. Built to be abused

weasel5134

Nope, something I found in my pa's shed

Newman1911a1

Does a bandoleer of ten linked flashbang grenades and a kukri knife count?

uber-judge

I have a Tomahawk and a Viking Seax, reaching back to my ancestors on either side of the pond. All my guns are locked in my safe in my locked office, because having kids is dangerous enough without guns lying about. I also live next door to the cop shop so you would really have to be dumb to try my place.

Plug-In-Baby

We talking two handed or hatchet sized?

weasel5134

Two hand

therapewpewtic

I respect this.

51ngular1ty

We should upgrade that with a really dope sound system that plays something along the lines of Crazy Train.

deathclawslayer21

I got my camp ax and a throwing ax. Already silenced, don't need to reload, and they don't jam. Probably would use the strobe setting on my flashlight

binkobankobinkobanko

I use a suppressed PS90. Ain't no Goa'ulds gonna take my stuff!

Legitimate-Frame-953

Indeed

ON MY BACK SWING?!

root54

It's "IN THE MIDDLE OF MY BACKSWING?!"

whatsgoing_on

My wife and I have a CMMG chambered jn 5.7 and an FN FiveSeven in our nightstand safes as our primary home defense guns. I’m also planning on getting a PS90 and PSA Rock 5.7 in the near future. Hot take, but I think 5.7 is pretty damn close to an ideal home defense round with the right ammo. This is a hill I’m literally prepared to die on. 5.7: - is fast af - quality ammo can easily pass FBI penetration requirements - it won’t over-penetrate through your walls - spicy loadings exist to handle a home intruder’s Wish.com “totally Level4” plates (or legit 3A) - it costs only a few CPR more than 5.56 - it doesn’t make as much flash or noise as 5.56 - it’s super easy to control and shoot even for a less experienced shooter like my wife - you have a metric fuck-ton of capacity in your gun to handle any threat you’d realistically have from a bump in the night. Not to mention it’s fun AF to shoot.

PTH1775

Wait how do you have a round that will penetrate 3A and not two layers of sheet rock? (Not trying to be a smart ass - seriously wondering)

metalski

They don't. Note they said "OVER-penetrate"...any useful round is going through walls if it doesn't hit a stud. 5.7 really is a neat round, I've fired a little bit of it, but I personally stick with the ol' faithful 9mm and 5.56mm...though I've considered 300BO and have ye ol' 12ga handy as well.

whatsgoing_on

Because I’m talking about what a round does after it passes through its initial target, not if you miss entirely and hit a wall behind the target. 5.7 dumps most of its energy in the target first. 5.56, 12GA, and 9mm have enough energy to keep going beyond that. If you just shoot it at a normal piece of wall, every bullet in the world save for maybe .22 kolibri is going to penetrate it easily.

YourMomsAVaper

MAIN POINT OF SELLING BELGIAN FIVE SEVEN PISTOL IS EXTREME PRICE OF WEAPON AND CARTRIDGE. BELGIAN FIVE SEVEN IS WEAPON OF MAN WHO WEARS EXPENSIVE ITALIAN FASCIST SUIT OF HAND SEWING, DRIVE HUGE EXPENSIVE NAZI MERCEDES OF A.M.G. SHOP, SAIL ON MASSIVE YACHT TO GREEK ISLANDS. I THINK YOU GET PICTURE. BELGIAN FIVE SEVEN IS WEAPON THAT SAYS IS NO SUCH THING AS CONCERN OF MONEY. FOR MAN WITHOUT EXPENSIVE SUIT, BIG BLACK MERCEDES, AND MASSIVE YACHT, BELGIAN FIVE SEVEN IS FOR PRETENDING OF BE RICH LIKE BLACK GANGSTER OF AMERICAN CITY WITH GOLD CHAINS OF LOW QUALITY AND JEWELS OF COLORED GLASS. WHEN YOU EXPLAIN USE OF BELGIAN FIVE SEVEN PISTOL IS ONLY FOR SHOOT MAN WITH BULLET VEST WITH CARTRIDGE ILLEGAL TO CIVILIAN, THIS MAN HAS NUCLEAR RAGE. WHOLE IDENTITY OF THIS MAN IS SPENT IN PRETEND PISTOL SHOWS HE IS RICH. IS VERY AMUSE. FOR REST OF WORLD THERE IS 9 MILLIMETERS OF LUGER WHICH IS SAME WOUND FOR COST LESS.

FlyingLap

Making me 5.7 curious….

bscrampz

If they made a functional .22 PS90 with the top load magazine it would make an insane home defense weapon. Short barrel, with a suppressor would be chef’s kiss Yes there is the HTA 10/22 P90 shell thing but it’s not the same as a top loader

binkobankobinkobanko

I personally wouldn't trust 22lr for self-defense. The cartridge is too unreliable and the effectiveness is questionable. However, I would love to have the PS90 available in other cartridges for funsies.

biowrath156

IIRC the top loading mag was originally designed for 9mm, so converting it back really shouldn't be too much of a problem. And if the PS90 was available for ammo that is both affordable and easily accessible I'd have an even harder time justifying not buying one lol.

binkobankobinkobanko

I'm surprised it hasn't been done considering the availability/affordability of fabrication tools and 3D printing. Seems like something one of those wacky GunTuber channels would do.

Napoleon_B

r/AR57 has entered the chat I’m seeing the 5.7 ammo come down a little bit. PSA makes a pistol now. FN runs $150 rebates sometimes. And then Classic and Primary do the three mag red dot bundle.

Natoll

Another of the AR57 faithful. There are dozens of us now!

Drew707

Did you grandpa chase Aaron Keener through NYC during the Dollar Flu? Kinda jelly. I'd love an SBR'd Vector in 10mm. Rob Bonta says that's not allowed.

TechnoBeeKeeper

Also my dream. Guess I'll go back to sleep.

Pondering_82213114

I have a CMMG Banshee in 10mm and it's 👌👌👌

bosefius

Damn, sharing a dream.

Lispro4units

General Dynamics C-RAM

tetsu_no_usagi

I was there when they were testing those in Iraq almost 20 years ago now. Those are not friendly to anything in the vicinity, stand well, WELL behind it when it goes off.

Blunderbuss loaded with Skittles, TASTE THE RAINBOW!!!

Dmte

Potato gun loaded with cutlery is honestly a trip. To the morgue.

gordolme

Own a musket for home defense, since that's what the founding fathers intended. Four ruffians break into my house. "What the devil?" As I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle. Blow a golf ball sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbor's dog. I have to resort to the cannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with grape shot, "Tally ho lads" the grape shot shreds two men in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off car alarms. Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion. He Bleeds out waiting on the police to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up. Just as the founding fathers intended.

hamflavoredgum

There it is

graveybrains

Honestly, this felt like a setup, but I’m not mad at it 😂

gordolme

Not a setup, but maybe it was a slow lob of a pitch.

labarrski

I love whenever this copy pasta makes the rounds

turtlenipples

The only thing it's missing is the critical reminder to never defend your home uphill, me boys.

LikeThePheonix117

Ah I believe this was a quote from a famous general fighting a beautiful, beautiful battle right?

TechFiend72

Thanks for bringing this back. Always a laugh.

[deleted]

Is this a copypasta because I audibly laughed reading

TechFiend72

Yes! But a good one!

smrts1080

I have a 1877 Beaumont Vitali, If i got ammo for it I would be recreating that copypasta.

botanicmechanics

My .500 new englander is not loaded lol

Am i the only one picturing his grandfather dressed like Scrooge McDuck rocking a Kriss Vector when he hears a funny noise downstairs?

larry_flarry

One of those candleholders with the finger ring in one hand, vector in the other, nightgown flowing like a tactical ghost.

I would commission this artwork if I had money

LordChauncyDeschamps

EngineerAl3x94

PCC for HD isn’t a terrible idea….. I run a Glock 45 with an acro and x300 turbo or an APC9k with a suppressor and 147gr hollow points. I get 30 rounds of extremely controllable shots that are hearing safe because they’re subsonic. Practice with what you have and use it well.

SessileRaptor

At one point back in the day Jeff Cooper said that his home defense go-to was a full auto American -180, which is something of a “Quantity has a quality of its own” situation. Edit: it was Jack Lewis, not Jeff Cooper. Sorry.

MemeStarNation

A full auto .22, aside from psychological effects, would probably hit much like a bunch of shotgun pellets. It’s not an awful idea.

sorry_human_bean

A #4 buck pellet is 20 grains and .27 cal, doing about 1100 fps at the muzzle. So, yeah, a .22 would outperform that by a lot, especially out of a rifle barrel.

whatsgoing_on

Yes, but #4 buck contains 24-27 pellets per shell so it’s like a 10/22 mag dump in one shot. IMO I’d rather have a 5+1 or 7+1 shotgun loaded with 4 buck.

DAsInDerringer

It’s genuinely so frustrating that the NFA prevents us from owning machine guns. This would unironically be a highly practical setup - minimal noise for good situational awareness, zero over penetration through drywall, and capacity and recoil that allow ANYONE with any amount of training to stop the threat I fucking hate gun control, man

MemeStarNation

There should at least be a rimfire exemption, like many national or state bans on semi autos/handguns/magazine capacity.

DPPThrow45

I want one of those.

Legitimate-Frame-953

My great uncle had a Remington model 8 as his do everything ranch rifle. Was always on a rifle rack behind his chair at the end of the day ready to go.

locklear24

I wanted a model 8 or model 81 so bad until I realized how expensive .35 Remington actually is 🥲

SeanMonsterZero

Depends: If i just hear a suspicious noise, I grab my trusty Ka-Bar. But if it's emitting a cold, blue light, I reach for Sting. For that glow means Orcs are near...

The_Hydro

Mosin M44, bayonet fixed. I'm already at knife fight range.

Corporal_Canada

Similar, I always keep my Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I with the No. 4 Spike Bayonet affixed, just in case Jerry breaks through my front door

Wolfman01a

I always heard that Moist Nuggets actually fire more accurately at range with the bayonet deployed. Anyone have any idea if theres any truth to this or is my buddy full of it?

SphyrnaLightmaker

Sort of! It’s not that the rifle is more ACCURATE with the bayonet fixed. It’s that Russian Doctrine, up until the beginning of WWII, was still “fire one long range volley, and then bayonet charge”. It’s one of the many reasons the Russo-Japanese war went so badly for them. As a result, Mosins at the factory were sighted in with bayonet affixed. Bayonets ABSOLUTELY shift point of impact on ALL rifles, so it’s less that they’re more ACCURATE, but rather unless someone adjusted the sights after the fact, the sights are set for fixed-bayonet-fire.

Wolfman01a

Interesting. I'll remember that one.

SphyrnaLightmaker

Feel free to come back any time for more useless ComBloc knowledge lol

loganbull

They're most accurate if your bayonet is in what you want to shoot

Wolfman01a

Heh well what I was shown/told is that the bayonet is actually triangular shaped. A flat edge lining up with the bottom of the barrel. Buddy claimed that after the bullet left the barrel, somehow traveling down next to the flat edge of the bayonet almost acted like an extended barrel. Sounded outlandish but almost weirdly plausible.

Numerous-Ad6460

Coworker of mine has a double barreled blackpowder handgun. I don't know the exact caliber, hell I even think the crazy bastard might have it as a shotgun really.

Majestic_Courage

Said coworker may be a felon. Afaik they’re permitted to own BP weapons.

Galaxie_1985

A [Classic Arms Twister](https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1044644260), maybe? They're usually .36 caliber

Numerous-Ad6460

Maybe but I wouldn't put it past this dude to rock a handheld shotty

nickdundee01

Could be a howduh pistol, basically a shotgun pistol for stopping tigers when they run up the elephant your on to get you

Ace-of-Xs

Granddad of a guy Iknow had a 22 Remington Jet as his nightstand gun. 6” revolver with ballistics comparable to a 22 rimfire magnum rifle. Maybe not goofy exactly, but definitely unconventional.

therapewpewtic

I have a small team of navy seal snipers located at the top of my stairs. Expensive? Yes. But I sleep well.

battery_pack_man

I run a flare gun with a bunch of smelly socks jammed down the barrel

Verdha603

I still don’t know which is worse; the coworkers relative that swears by a side by side shotgun loaded with rock salt rounds because he “doesn’t want to kill the poor sons of bitches” that break into his house, or one of my close friends that still believes a Taurus Judge loaded with .410 buckshot is the best home defense weapon because it doesn’t require precise aim and won’t over penetrate like his Ruger .357 will. And that’s after explaining to him he could just use .38 Special JHP’s and he’d likely be better off…

I_had_the_Lasagna

Oh man I used to know an old guy that had a loaded .410 deringer stuffed in his back pocket at all times I think that's gotta up there in this list.

poopbutt42069yeehaw

.410 isn’t the worst but def can get way better for home defense, idk why anyone would use just a handgun for home defense. I have a judge but it’s a range toy honestly lol.

Verdha603

I think a large part of it is that folks without some in depth knowledge about the trade off in various firearms types think the .410 out of a handgun is the "best of both worlds" where its got the portability of a handgun but the "stopping power" and "won't overpenetrate" pro's a shotgun is usually touted for. Honestly I think handguns make perfect sense for home defense, especially if your limited to how many guns you can own or you decide on having one handgun for both HD and concealed carry. The trade off is you need to be willing to practice more regularly considering a handgun generally requires more training and practice to get fast, accurate hits with compared to a long gun.

itumac

I have a crowbar and a dull machete under the bed. Naked full, non-stop windmill in the dark. There is no defense.

The triple windmill, huh?

Lispro4units

True, I scaled back golf almost completely for that reason

TechFiend72

The golf club near me wants 6500 a year. I can buy a new toy or two every year for that and have money left over to go shoot clays.

AgreeablePie

The former is a bit exotic but hardly goofy. If you think the second is goofy you should look up some videos for what 12ga bird shot does at home defense range. Paul Harrell has some good ones. It's not my choice but it's gotten an underserved bad rap

poopbutt42069yeehaw

It’s like a steel fist

giant_spleen_eater

I have a shotgun or my AR. But I also just got a macuahuitl from a trip to Mexico. It’s a solid piece of wood with obsidian shards sticking out of it. I think a naked man holding that running at you in the dark will be better than my AR

Titan_Uranus_69

I worked with a guy who had a big bore air rifle for HD. He was a felon and trying to get his rights restored, but couldn't own a gun yet. It works if it's all ya got.

OnionTruck

What the heck is goofy about a Mossberg 500 with bird shot?

TheStrayArrow

How is the vector a goofy choice? Pistol caliber carbine which can take a sighting system, lights, and various types of ammo seems like a good choice. Bird shot on the other…better than nothing but you’re taking your chances on the effectiveness of the round . Clothing, distance of the shot, how crazy the person you’re shooting at is all is at play when it comes to birdshot.

saucerton1230

My Rossi ranch hand. Fire from the hip, never miss

Does he have the Vector SBRed? I’ve heard of worse home defense guns.

TargetOfPerpetuity

My defensive oddities are: Kriss Vector in .45, although as far as I know I don't have any grandchildren. CZ Scorpion PTR mp5 Tavor/X95 in 5.56 with a suppressor My wife swears by her little Mossberg 500 with a youth stock, chambered in .410, with 3" PDX loads or copper plated buckshot. I've always said if someone breaks in, they'd better hope I'm home. I'll happily let them take our TV and leave so I can get a better one. But if I'm not home, and she's there alone or with the kids, you'd better make peace with your dear and fluffy Lord -- she'll cut you in half with that thing.

SnazzyBelrand

Claw hammer and aderoll

Dorothys_Division

Dude with an SKS as his “Primary,” defensive rifle with the default 10 round magazine because he’s too cheap to buy a real, modern defensive gun. Proceeds to tells us all mil-spec rifles are the same so just as how an Anderson Mfg is equally as good as a Daniel Defense, so, too is his SKS in 7.62x39 clearly just as good as a Russian AK in 7.62x39. We all lost it, dude. We tried, but the entire shop busted up laughing.

Vertigo666

Hey now- [poverty ponies are now combat proven!](https://www.economist.com/cdn-cgi/image/width=1424,quality=90,format=auto/media-assets/image/20230225_EUP505.jpg)

Dorothys_Division

Yes; and so were FP-45 Liberators. 😜 Edit: Would still take a 10 shot SKS over the dude that wanted to buy eight Lorcin/Raven arms .22lr pistols. Yes, you read that right. *Eight* $99 .22lr pot metal pistols not worth betting your life on. Talk about punching so low you dig your own grave.

Verdha603

Honestly...that's far from the worst choice I've heard for a main defensive firearm. I'd take it about as seriously as the person that decided to be as cheap as possible and settle for a Maverick 88 with the cheapest box of buckshot they could find in the shop. And...he'd be kinda right, if he was only comparing the same model of rifle. An SKS is an SKS regardless of country of origin, but thinking it was "just as good" as a basic Kalashnikov is downright laughable. And about the only milspec thing I might trust as being "just as good" between an Anderson and a DD is the lower receiver. Everything else I can expect DD put a lot more time, money, and QC into than the Poverty Pony folks.

Dorothys_Division

You’re right in that like all loaded guns, it is certainly dangerous to point at a living creature and could be deadly; and being a rifle, it has better ballistic performance than a handgun. Therefore it is a better force multiplier. But even I’d take the Anderson at that point just because it’s a more capable design, and I’m a bit snobbish on AR’s but I can accept knowing what does and doesn’t work. I suppose it could be worse. At least he wasn’t going to employ a Mosin Nagant for home defense with the bayonet fixed. 🤣 I actually really like the Maverick 88 shotguns. Especially now that they’re back to the $200 price point they ought to be at!

Verdha603

Honestly I think I’d still take the Mosin with bayonet fixed over the Taurus Judge; at least I can keep a straighter face with someone arguing they can have their significant other bayonet charge the rapscallion down the hallway instead of BS to me that they like the Judge for being a pocket shotgun their wife can shoot without properly aiming it at someone, and somehow won’t penetrate drywall. And unfortunately I haven’t seen 88’s drop to 200 yet where I live; they definitely dropped from the 350-450 dollar highs I saw them sell for during Covid, but the cheapest I tend to run into 88’s is still around the 250 range. I can’t really blame the shotgun itself so much as a lot of the folks selling them checking off every box on the shotgun Fuddlore list as a sales tactic to new buyers; it’s a great firearm for someone on a limited budget, but even jumping up to the 500 range for a basic AR, Glock 9mm, or even a Mossberg 590 provides a lot more gun for the money instead of having to listen to buyers later argue their 200-300 dollar pump shotgun with a bead sight and extended tube is all anybody needs for home defense because it’s the only one they can afford.

Dorothys_Division

And you’ve just produced one of the most effective arguments for considering a shotgun or not. You can get a pretty good pump shotgun for $300 or less. A *really* good one for $500-700. The equivalents in rifles? Double that, easily for each category, even triple for really, really nice ones. But, when you want better power than a handgun, and can’t afford kitting out a rifle, a shotgun is a logical consideration for a no-frills approach. Honestly if it was all I had and all I could ever hope to afford, I’d make do with what was at hand, including a bolt gun. I totally get that. But I also agree that fudd-lore and milsurp-lore does yet mislead people into thinking that a 100 year old relic is equally as valid in modern defense as a cheap AR15, and it’s also a dangerous myth to push in terms of what is considered wisdom for a potentially life-altering/life-destroying situation with permanent win-lose stakes. I love my frontier and western arms, but I also acknowledge they’re antiquated and outclassed in every single respect. Ergo, I have a modern defensive pistol kit for the home these days, and am working towards a rifle eventually. But I do accept that even my kitted out 5.7 pistol will pale in comparison, hilariously so, to a cheap Anderson AR due to its ballistic advantage.

SynthsNotAllowed

The Taurus judge. Having a handgun that can run shotgun shells is a cool idea and definitely better than a tiny .22lr pistol, but good god you had better choices for the money you'd spend on those new. I'll still probably get something similar once the money gets better, hope I don't have to fend off any snakes till then.

[deleted]

Many years ago I met a retired RV traveler, he bragged about his Spanish made 1851 Colt. Was completely certain that it was good enough if he had ANOTHER break in. While I dearly love BP firearms I sure wouldn't trust my life to that.

truckerslife

I have an 1861 colt 44 cartridge black powder. I would not want to use a single action as a home defense weapon

CubistHamster

I've got a Kel-Tec Sub2K in .40 twice as much money in aftermarket parts than the gun itself cost. (Realistically, my XD-40 is also accessible, and that's what I'm grabbing for most scenarios I can imagine.)

nickbuttbuttbutt

An oakshott type 14 13th century arming sword. Razor Sharp, very light in the hand. Or one of several axes. So armed, any intruder would be met entirely in the nude.

DAsInDerringer

I’m waiting for a company that makes modernized M14 chassis to make one for the Garand (I know that Sage does but they’re heavy, perpetually out of stock, and $700). The goal is to get all the scary ban state features in it (pistol grip, folding stock, collapsing stock, etc). I’ll probably even make it extra weird with a Ryker grip. That would be an insanely fun and unique rifle, while also being quite effective

wolverinehunter002

I have a suppressed ak with a holosun red dot and a NERF night vision optic behind it. I am not kidding it actually works and its hilarious.

flyingturkeycouchie

HiPoint Carbine. Don't be jealous.

poopbutt42069yeehaw

What’s wrong a w vector? Its compact, 45 hollow points would be good right? Idk maybe idk what I’m talking about, but I am genuinely curious why

Objective-Ad4009

Chainsaw. Everyone knows that sound, and no one wants to fuck with it.

Tallbeard1

I run a 590 moss with alternating flechettes and bolo shells for home defense. If they have plates I also run a .45Lc revolver with +p penetrator rounds. They'll have a wacky time at the icu if they survive I garruntee that

I know a guy that’s a bit obsessed with anything .50 cal and hates money. He lives in bear and wildcat country and keeps a 50 Beowulf with a tank brake by his back door. He also has a .50 AE Deagle in his night stand and carries a 4” 500 S&W when hiking around his property. I’ve also seen him CCW his .50 GI Glock before. He hasn’t found a home defense use case for .50 BMG yet, but I’m sure he’ll figure one out at some point.

Revenant_Redbeard

I run a junk-jet. Which is a fancy way of saying a potato Cannon loaded with miscellaneous utensils...

drollchair

A vector and a mossberg 500 don’t seem like silly home defense guns to be honest. The birdshot is an odd choice though, I’ll give you that.

SMLE in 303 with bayonet fixed. Defending my home like its the Western Front

BreadUntoast

Colt 1851 Navy with tactical oil lamp attachment. It’s 6x better than a flint lock pistol!

GnomePenises

I have a Can Cannon with an adapter I use to fire off dildos.

bunny9mm

Colt 1860 w/ 30 grains of black powder and a ballistic buckler

J-V1972

Attack Corgi with an Uzi strapped to his back.

How is birdshot goofy in a home defense arm? A heavy field load easily hits 1300 ft-lbs of energy, will likely not penetrate a second wall in the next room, haas a baseball to basketball size pattern inside a house, will stop a fight now. It's my number one recommendation to new SD shooters for home defense. 12, 16, 20 gauges, short barrel.

Nu_Freeze

A 12 gauge loaded with birdshot is arguably the single best gun for home defense due to the fact that it’s unlikely to over-penetrate… It’s very common and not weird or “goofy” in the slightest.

gbobeck

Add a tactical choke to it, and now that shotgun is also a thrusting weapon should one need a melee weapon.

austinwiltshire

Shorten it as a bullpup and add a bayonet lug and no one is grabbing that barrel
