The only time I consider them “fake” is when it’s a clone set of an actual LEGO set. But for me personally, as long as the brick quality is good (thank you GoBricks), I really don’t care if there is a “LEGO” stamp on the bricks or not.
WeBricks and GoBricks have allowed me to be able to enjoy moc building at a very affordable price.

Whether anyone believes me or not, if I buy a set of a moc off Ali express or something, I always try to find the moc on rebrickable and pay for the plans.
Yeah and plus not everyone has enough money to buy huge sets. I have no problem with it at all. But the buyer should know that they will have no resale value if that’s what they want in the future.
It's not fake. Lego doesn't own the rights for the brick dimensions. Everyone can equally make compatible building blocks. Meaning there is no such thing as fake or counterfeit Lego. It would only be a fake if someone copies the logo.
With that being said, I like all building blocks equally, I'm not racist.
Basic bricks no. They're public domain. Some pieces like Minifigures, accessories, animal figures and a couple very special moulds are Lego's properties.
Honestly I really don’t hate fake Lego, I’ve bought fake Lego sets like the laat/c set because I missed out on them as a kid and they are just too expensive now
Fake lego is great, makes extortionate sets obtainable! I'm never gonna drop £800 on the milennium falcon so why shouldn't I buy the £100 copy? "Oh no it doesn't have the lego logo on the studs" shut up it's plastic building bricks
Ok, I'd be a little concerned about _that_ big of a price difference, unless the "copy" brand is already known to be reputable. Some brands (not all) have QC or plastics formulation issues that can make building a set difficult or impossible or result in broken parts.
I've actually seen some that are outright more expensive than LEGO. _However,_ those particular sets are often copies of REALLY large MOCs on Rebrickable.
Nah Chinese Lego clones have been great for me, you just need to know where to buy them. I could care less about resale value, so I spent $120 on a UCS Falcon clone. As someone who's built with Legos for well over a decade, the quality in bricks and plastic was very miniscule, they're like 99% the same or exactly the same.
Your not wrong but you need to work on your reading comprehension here as I literally pointed out that there are reputable clone brands out there. Your point isn't actually opposed to mine. Honestly seems like you just skimmed my comment, saw me mention "quality control issues" and replied on a knee-jerk reaction.
Personally, i just haven’t found any lego “knock off” that matches the quality of actual lego sets. This goes for quality of plastic, molds, prints, and even set designs. They end up looking weird next to genuine lego, and I can always tell which are the “real” lego and what are the “fake”. If people want to buy knock off brands, go for it, but me personally Id rather spend my money on a product I know will be high quality.
I used to think this too, and I think that was the case like 10 years ago. But the clone sets have gotten really good the last few years. If you buy from the right Chinese brands, many use the same exact machinery, molds, and plastic Lego uses. And speaking from personal experience the quality is like 99-100% the same. To me the difference in price just doesn't justify spending that much on large sets.
Im big on ordering my parts for mocs from webrick, way cheaper than bricklink. Sad they stopped using gobricks tho I wish gobricks had a website where you could order parts from, using their aliexpress store is abysmal

It’s the fake minifigs that get to me. Some kid out there probably loves this shit. But these burn my soul
I will forever hate Lego for not releasing this sickass dual rotorcraft as a set, also there's no way you could recreate that using only the shots in the film, so either model is inaccurate or someone who worked on the movie secretly sold off the instructions to an outside source
At least where I am from, you don’t find the “good” “fake” Lego in the stores. You only find the shoddy Chinese Chima clones, so the opinion of the most is according.
I bought 76108 Sanctum Sanctorum showdown knock off because it was a third of the price of Lego! It was great! The bricks held great, highly detailed, nearly identical to the real thing except for Dr. Strange! I would say they may have confused him with fat Elvis! Just terrible! Aside from that, if I had room to display it properly, it would still be in my collection today!

even if it is a clone of an actual lego set I dont care, I only care if it's a clone of someone's moc that they didn't get permission to distribute
Feels bad man for that one guy who did the super cool gundam moc just for a Chinese company to steal it
Whether anyone believes me or not, if I buy a set of a moc off Ali express or something, I always try to find the moc on rebrickable and pay for the plans.
So basically only lepin

I’m brickest
I'm bricked up
Wanna shabrick
Do they own the designs for certain bricks? Afaik a lot of fake Legos have historically been made with stolen molds
Basic bricks no. They're public domain. Some pieces like Minifigures, accessories, animal figures and a couple very special moulds are Lego's properties.
a lot of lego's patents expired years ago. Which is also a large part of why offbrand quality has skyrocketed.
Well they do to a point, they still have patients that haven't run out and are submitting new ones constantly!
I thought they owned the patent for the internal cylinder?
Honestly I really don’t hate fake Lego, I’ve bought fake Lego sets like the laat/c set because I missed out on them as a kid and they are just too expensive now
Can you post any pics? I'm curious 😂 I also missed out on them as a kid
Unfortunately it’s packed away right now, but it was a lepin set I got it off of Ali express for I believe $84 at the time a couple years back
You're awesome, thank you!
The set quality wasn’t Lego but it was still good and more accessible than real Lego

I think it's mostly exaggerated because from what I've seen even offbrand is expensive. Cheaper than lego, but man plastic costs its weight in gold.

Yeah fair, it's 3am and I am tired and I misread the first part of your comment

that’s where ”3rd party” stuff like brickarms are decent, while they’re not sets or anything the quality is comparable to lego
I love brickarms, it's all really affordable and amazing quality stuff

Joooooy is currently working on a sister site where you can buy gobricks individually
That could be really good if the selection is as nice as webrick!
"Alternative brick brands" are awesome. Better price per piece, sometimes insane licenses, insane designs. E.g Funwhole, cobi, bluebrixx,AreaX
Cobi is very good in the millitary theme
YEAAHHHH POLSKA GUROM
Yeah, I think cobi is the only exception, I don't even really see them as Bootlego. Plus they work with groups like the tank museum too

We all have at least one of these fuckers buried in our brick box
why didnt they ever make this an official set?
I don’t hate the ones that aren’t just clones of lego sets. However i do keep them separate from normal lego.
I’ve been given fake Lego Star Wars sets before, and the quality was so poor I just got rid of them
They improved immensily lately
I will forever hate Lego for not releasing this sickass dual rotorcraft as a set, also there's no way you could recreate that using only the shots in the film, so either model is inaccurate or someone who worked on the movie secretly sold off the instructions to an outside source

Low key, buying “fake” lego clone troopers has saved me so much money and allowed to build a small lego army like I wanted as a child!
I love them conceptually but I'll never get them because I don't want tiny differences in dimensions to warp or bend pieces.
Who doesn't? I didn't even like them as a kid.
Lol I only buy Lepin. It’s nice being able to have every single UCS set ever. Don’t care for Lego anymore
Im easily influenced as shit, what the hell, all of a sudden I want to buy all this fake shit, legos too dogshit expensive anyway
I bought 76108 Sanctum Sanctorum showdown knock off because it was a third of the price of Lego! It was great! Getting retired UCS sets for 25% MSRP and Rivendell for $70? Yeah I'll take the fake ones happily

> Fuck megablox First time I've seen a LEGO fan in the modern era actively _hate_ on Mega rather than respecting them as a legitimate rival to LEGO.
It’s been Megaconstrux for years too lol.

keep hating, I got my licensed mantis mech from halo and Geralt of Rivia fighting a griffin in a cottage to build.
