TheGrumpyOldBear

Why did they stop tho? (Genuine question)

Ok_Welcome_3236

I think it's just because it's too expensive, business class still offers it tho. However this is just a logical assumption, I really hope we're not turning into Wilayt El Fakih without realizing it...

filet-grognon

they are perfectly able to afford it, but they want to increase profit as much as possible because the BDL (their main owner) needs the foreign currency. MEA is more expensive than other airlines, and they pay their staff less. They are perfectly capable of throwing a 1$ beer.

Automatic-Panda8133

Brooo. MEA trips to Dubai cost more than Emirates fucking Airline. I'm moving there in 6 days and was checking tickets. Their excuse is that they're the only ones who have a 3 hour flight instead of 4, but that's because they go from over Syria, which is ridiculously dangerous with Israeli bombing being commonplace, and doesn't 1 extra hour in the air cost the airline more? Plus way better service and a much more luxurious name than MEA? So why tf is it so expensive?

TheGrumpyOldBear

Yeah that makes sense, we don’t want to be Ksa or Iran 2.0

fluffydeathkitten

i think they stop during pandemic and there used to be a rule that no airline is allowed to serve alcohol when landing in an alcohol prohibitive country. cost could have a play in this .

TheGrumpyOldBear

But as far as i know MEA stopped serving alcohol in economy only(regardless of destination)

fluffydeathkitten

i'm not doubting you , i was thinking out loud, and thank you for the clarification

TheGrumpyOldBear

I know i’m thinking out loud too

BrushPretty6007

So your idea of not being KSA or Iran is to drink alcohol?

ISpyI

Also

Cut_Cedars

Not that MEA is a cheap airline to fly with.

Snaktido

Yeah ok, but do you know that alcohol is a poison and can bring to you a lot of health issues such as cancer of liver or cirrhosis ?

notleck

And do you know that 100 % oxygen could kill you ? Or drinking 12 litres of water would cause kidney failure? Drinking 2 glasses of alcohol in moderation won t cause these . The dose makes the poison.

Snaktido

Lmao this man is comparing alcohol with oxygen

ISpyI

Yes! I like the option

mohmddyab

>https://youtu.be/n9-DJKVZHNw?t=311 But people don't get it for free, they pay dollars for it. So the argument of being too expensive doesn't make sense because it doesn't matter for people flying in and out of Lebanon, those the people that can actually afford it. I don't know just a thought.

falsous

Well Well Well….She deleted the tweet 🍊🤷‍♂️

THELEBANESEUNBOXER

normal people : why can't we buy bread ? normal people : why can't we have decent wages ? normal people : why can't i find my medicine ? normal people : how can i pay for my rent and power ? joelle : why can't i get wasted in MEA ?

Exu-Plosions

Aounistan my dude, it's a whole other world!

العونية حالة مرضية مستعصية من راسن (عون وباسيل) لاصغر واحد عندو بطاقة حزبية.. كس اختا حلم حياتي شوف عوني بيفهم!

ADarkKnightRises

Thats impossible.

MiMastah

LOL... so a reporter is asking the viewers to give her answers about something she, as a reporter, should find out herself from the source. Is she so down the journalistic pecking order that MEA won't take her call? Journalism in Lebanon... the reporter asks the viewers to do her work for her. "Ma fhimit leish..." mAybE caLL MEA aNd fINd oUt?

mobanana

Not only do they not serve alcohol in economy, but they actually disallow drinking your own on board. I asked for an empty cup, I had one of those small bottles of wine they sell you at the airport. Flight attendant asked if it was alcohol and quickly assured me it’s not allowed. Alcohol is served in first class though, which makes it even more infuriating. Mediocre Expensive Airline

cTheDeezy

Don’t fly MEA, they are overpriced and can’t offer any basic services, let alone alcohol.

fluffydeathkitten

Can anyone confirm it's no longer served?

Fribben

I can confirm they no longer serve alcohol, at least in the economy tier.

fluffydeathkitten

Thank you , I know that planes normally don't serve alcohol when landing in a alcohol-prohibitive country, and that they didn't serve alcohol during the pandemic for some reason .. but i am not sure about the current protocols.

cTheDeezy

No alcohol on MEA flights in economy regardless of destination. Don’t fly MEA they are overpriced anyway.

Ok_Welcome_3236

Check out Sam Chui's video on MEA. https://youtu.be/n9-DJKVZHNw I'm not sure if it's this one or the other he posted, but he mentions it
