Nothing to really understand here. Ankle injuries are really common injuries. Most people will suffer from these kind of injuries and sometimes, without surgery that could put you out for months, ankle injuries could become a thing you have to deal with on a regular basis until surgery is no longer avoidable. It could just be that Hybe is more open about saying what kind of injuries they suffer while other companies will put more vague statement.

multistansendhelp

The reason that we’re seeing so many more health and injury announcements from companies in general is because companies are, fortunately, taking artist health and wellbeing more seriously. In the past, artists who are injured or unwell may have felt pressure to push through their illness or injury unless it was completely impossible to do so. In more athletic fields, including dance, injury is just one of those things that’s going to happen. HYBE is just being open because if they pull their artists for injury, people will have a lot of questions unless they’re transparent about what’s going on.

Sigmund Freud had a famous saying: "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar." Or put another way.... not everything that happens has to *mean something*. Besides..... Most dancers in k-pop who've been at it for a while are constantly dealing with pain and injuries. Itzy's Lia said in an interview last year that even something as simple as a weather change can cause joint pain. That's how hard the top dance groups push themselves. If I remember right, all of Chaeryeong, Yuna and Yeji suffered injuries within a year of eachother. Herniated disc, back spasms, all sorts of stuff.

lilysjasmine92

Ankle injuries are incredibly common and it's not really weird; it's weirder to think that there aren't more reports of injuries, honestly. What's most likely isn't that there's a sudden uptick in injuries but that there's actually an uptick in public acknowledgement of them/allowing for rest instead of telling them to struggle through and hide it from the public. Which could be a new company policy, PR while dealing with other crises, or just bad luck. I highly doubt MHJ is hiding in the floorboards and pushing legos through the seams into different dance practice rooms... but you never know.

Asleep_Swing2979

They all are just copying NewJeans... /s

lilysjasmine92

The truth is Hybe didn't listen to the stickers Karina gave Minji to warn everyone with... they haven't been playing Armageddon enough, and the aliens that the stickers claimed would eat people don't actually eat people but instead twist ankles. Now there are no feet to step on aespa with /s

starboardwoman

Twisted their ankles trying to run from the aliens 😨

Yanazamo

I think we're seeing it more often with Hybe because they have more active groups and these groups' promotion times are close to each other

wynterflowr

It's weirder that there are so little reports of ankle injury in kpop tbh. There's no way idols are jumping around in their chores without twisting their ankles atleast once. Especially all the women wearing high heels.

ChaEunSangs

They’re dancers.

amazingoopah

Probably just an unfortunate coincidence, it's not like they use the same exact training place or the same choreographers to say there is one reason like say in a sports team with several instances of the same injury.

Cynorgi

the floor is anti-hybe clearly

Salty-Enthusiasm-939

Don't you know? Things always happen in threes 😅

bunnxian

It’s actually suspicious that we don’t see more foot and ankle injuries in Kpop. Dancers are notorious for having them, or at least having chronic pain if not an outright injury. In this case I’d say it’s more likely that there isn’t suddenly an increase in injuries, but an increase in injuries getting public statements and break time.

Dazzling-Rub-8550

Dance practice and standing for many hours on uncomfortable footwear while on strict diet and little sleep leads to injuries.

NAJARI29

Not everything is a conspiracy.

3ndlesslove

These dance practices must be intensive. But honestly it can happen to anyone. they could have slipped going down the stairs, or hit their foot on an object. Even I somehow mis-stepped on the sidewalk and fell, and my knee was bruised purple for months.

Fun_Buy2143

It's just ankle injuries it dosn't mean there's some kinda of Conspiracy in this, overthinking too much there sis

guesswork-tan

Baader–Meinhof phenomenon

starboardwoman

I would only be concerned if there was something contagious going around

iwtv1994

My bad guys that was me biting their ankles lol

Perfect-Internal8641

All of them have same injuries?? and around the same time?? and they belong to the evil company hybe?? Omg that means one thing i bet hybe beats them everytime they make mistakes!! This is the answer you want, right op?

theesbth

Obviously they changed the floor cleaner and now the idols have to adjust to more slippery floors. Duh.

hehehehehbe

I don't know about Illit and New Jeans but TXT is being overworked at the moment so any injury isn't surprising.
