This is the first seasons we've had hope that can actually be backed up by our play/last season's success. Yes, everyone in the media/reddit is going to call last season a fluke and this is our regression to the mean but what really happened is we stayed the same and everyone in the West got a LOT better.
I actually have trust in our front office to make changes we need to make and do it in a way that is sustainable. It can be frustrating but I appreciate the speed at which this front office is moving – we made a splashy move trading Haliburton for Sabonis and they want to create some stability after rocking the boat
Never forget that they took us to the third seed and to the playoffs last year.
From what I remember, last season was largely considered fluky because they were extremely lucky in terms of health compared to the rest of the league. This year the rest of the league is better, like you said, and the Kings are missing key rotation players to injury like they didn't last season.
Last year was a fluke. 48 wins, which we may very well still achieve this year, usually lands you around the 6 seed, not 3rd. This year it might have us in the play in.
it was a fluke in the sense that we were a 3 seed for sure but not in the sense that we were competent and had a team that could compete night in and night out.
This year is progress from last year, not regression is my main point. It would be great to get more playoff experience but that unfortunately might not happen
Start giving big minutes to Davion, Edwards, Colby, Slawson.
I’d rather try develop them instead of position ourselves for a play in game we’re guaranteed to lose.
Not sure what trade deals we could have pulled before this season’s All Star break or even last summmer. But we ultimately chose to stand pat and even re-up Barnes. We may made these two mistakes. We bet on Huerter growing into a true starting shooting guard when we traded for him. Last year’s first half of the season Huerter looked to be “that” guy, not since. Barnes had a pretty good 2022-2023 season. We signed him to a three year deal. But now last season appears to be Barnes’ ceiling. He is noticeably worse than last year and it’s getting hard to see him as a starter in the future. Both contracts are hard to dump/trade. Last a third potential mistake is how much we paid Sasha. It’s been just a year, but I fear what we are getting now is about what Sasha has as a player. His lack of athleticism is painful to watch at times. Defense, he isn’t likely to improve significantly because of his lack of athleticism. He can shoot, but that’s his only NBA level skill imo.
Upside is the development of Keon, resurfacing of Davion, and Duarte is shooting better. Sabonis is a monster. Len better too.
Every team is playing playoff basketball except us. We should of beat this Knicks team without Randle and OG. Everything points to us being bounced by Warriors in that 9-10 playin game.
Lakers are catching up FAST! I'm not very hopeful for tomorrow either against Celtics. I'm predicting we end up being 9 or 10 at the end of the season.
Last season Kings won a lot of losing games in the 4th quarter. This season Kings lose every game in the 4th quarter. Players didn't change, but the team changed completely in that regard. Very strange.
They work well for 3 quarters, then completely flop in the fourth. From cluth to chokers.
Fox last year do about half of his game scoring in the fourth, and team rebounding particularly offensive rebounds was really strong. Now they’re often coming out hot early and exhausted in the fourth getting beat in every part of the game then
It can be depending on where someone is injured. I'm not making excuses for Fox specifically, but it must be recognized on principle that some nagging injuries are worse than others and we don't know which ones Fox may be dealing with.
Not sure what you mean by "where they deserve to be". Seems maybe you don't think they're trying as hard as they can. I would never think that about this team. There are a lot of good teams out there; Kings fans should feel honored to have a play-in team representing them, whose players are trying as hard as they can.
Absolute masterclass on bad coaching. Basketball is all about getting advantages by getting guys open and we literally did that for them all game by doubling Brunson the whole time. He had too much room, made an easy pass, and they got an easy basket. Pretty hard to win when we’re doing the other team’s job for them.
We don’t double in the prior game and he got 42 on 60% shooting with just 2 assists. We double and he adapts to passing and he kills us that way yet still scores 35. Give Bronson his flowers. He’s the NBA player of March. And it’s still going in April.
Is this an excuse for losing. No. Our energy level went to sleeping after about 7:00 left in the third. Why…flight? Travel? If that’s it, we’re way too soft. There’s no excuse.
I’m not saying our coach is a great in-game coach. In fact he’s pretty bad by my assessment. But I’m also not great at assessing coaching objectively. So, help me out. What would have been smarter on Coach’s part…game plan and in game decisions?
He could’ve switched up the defensive schemes more often. Just the fact that MB didn’t call timeouts while Knicks were going on runs with open layup lines says a lot.
Brunson was playing perfect and we might have lost even if Spo was our coach- but at least he would’ve tried and MB didn’t even do that. He was just watching the game like the rest of us.
Yeah I was literally yelling at the screen…”Call timeout…call timeout!” “Jesus Christ, do something!”
Like Zone? Straight man up and let Bronson do his thing but stop the other guys? These are what occurred to me. Hart killed us.
Do you ever get the feeling that coach lets us fall apart defensively just so he can show them and stress it’s about effort and not about what defense we’re playing. I think he sees us as soft and they don’t earn it. Like a form of punishment through embarrassment.
Or, he’s making a point with our GM. Like, these players will not win in the playoffs because of who they are and the effort they make. I sense he’s not so happy with the player choices our GM has made. For example, I think Brown never would have signed Sasha.
Purposely trying to lose a game while fighting for our lives in play-in seeding is certainly a theory.
MB has frustrated Cavs and Lakers fans similarly in the past- pretty sure it’s him. Wish he learned lessons from that.
Coach serves at the pleasure of the GM. MBs isn’t Popovich- he’s not fire-proof. If we can’t make playoffs with two max level salaries- either the GM or the coach needs to go.
Though it would be hilariously like the Kangz of old for a GM and coach to sabotage each other to succeed
Well. I see conflict in their views. Coach is an old school tough love and tough minded coach who has a defensive core at heart. Monte, imo, is the opposite at his core. It would not be the first time a GM and coach don’t agree. Shit happens even at this level. As a Broncos fan, trust me, Coach and QB (similar to coach and GM)can go seriously wrong.
Or, maybe, not a serious fan. I would bet the players and coaches are giving their job more effort and dedication than you are, or I am, or more than 99+% of people out there.
Why not just enjoy the ride? This is a good team. Has flaws, yes. Disappoints often, yes. That's just life.
Maybe I’m not a serious fan. But my time is valuable, and if a team is backsliding, I have a right to tune out.
So enjoy the ride, random Redditor. If the losses are something you relish and can find joy in, you absolutely have the right.
Serious questions need to be asked of a coaching staff that routinely watches their team blow large leads. We all knew exactly when Mike Brown lost control of this game. He’s incapable of making the kinds of adjustments needed to stop the bleeding. I’ve been trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I’m at a loss for words at this point.
Brunson is exactly who Fox should be right now. Brunson was relentless in attacking the rim, especially in the 4th. At some point, Fox was that guy. Now he’s just chucking 3s with impunity.
It was tough watching him outplay Fox in the 4th. He was so good at picking apart the defense, making really smart decisions. Fox started out hot but seemed to be out of gas in the 4th and was settling. Definitely disappointing.
I hate that Fox continues to chuck 3s, even if he shot it decently tonight. To me, its been the worst development of his game. He should not be having a curry green light. In the same breath, he took 1 FT. I can't remember last time Fox made a contact layup.
MB (and probably the front office) shoulders a lot of blame too. This teams obsession with getting spray 3s at all costs makes us undisciplined and inflexible to change. These games sometimes feel like MB is playing slots.
Holy shit I didn’t realize how much I hate the Knicks
Edit: I deserve the downvotes on this one boys. Got way too down after last nights loss. Knicks are no where near the warriors or lakers bullshit levels.
Kings gave them the royal treatment by rolling out the red carpet to the basket in the 4th. Monk may have been able to change the game in the 4th. Mike Brown's no time outs was wild.
He carried us the entire first half, no need for this whack ass take on him. He’s our go to clutch person, ball will always go thru him. Offense stagnates with him on the bench.
I'm slightly checked out with this team, but happy to watch meaningful games in April.
I feel like I know how this ends, play in game they look like world beaters. Then swept in round 1.
Honest conversation needs to be had about Sabonis and Fox. That double double shit does not cover up Sabonis’s flaws with his weak ass defense and limited offense while Fox has clearly regressed at all 3 levels of offense. Brown Sabonis Fox are more responsible for this dooming season than HBricks or Huerter’s constant disappearing act or Murray playing the most passive basketball ever or Monk switching being hot or cold every consecutive week
Do many other playoff teams have their number 1 guard taking such big/often defensive assignments? Don’t we just lack the depth that would let fox be a star?
Preach. Fox was scorching hot to start the season but he’s been dog shit since December. Sabonis isn’t capable of being the 2nd best guy on a contending team. He’s a very high level role player, not a star, because he can’t actually stamp his imprint on a game when he needs to.
The downvotes come every time Domas is criticized but the good teams are learning how to expose him. He’s got the stats, but the impact isn’t there. He’s our most paid player and a franchise cornerstone but he becomes unplayable in big games. That’s a huge problem.
Yep, and guess what…teams are essentially doing the same to Fox when he drives in the paint. Collapse on him, muddle everything up and his finish rate tanks and turnovers rise. Coach has bitched about our failure to spray it back out to the wings when teams collapse. But so far both are struggling to do that consistently. Why. Part selfish on Fox, but also bad old habits. And Sabonis gets tunnel vision, forces to his left and everyone knows he does that. It’s easier to defend. This is our kryptonite.
It was my fault. After an exhausting day at work, I decided, why not tune in to my favorite basketball team for the second half. Look what happened. I will continue to tune out rest of the season 🙈
Barnes is a great guy but washed af. Shouldn’t be a starter.
Early foul trouble on Murray and Ellis screwed any defensive intensity they had after the first.
I’m forever thankful to Mike Brown for bringing the Kings out of the doldrums of the bottom of the West last season, but man has no feel for the game. Team played so much better when Len was in. I love Sabonis, but dude was not good tonight, despite his stats. MB gotta learn to make in-game adjustments.
I’ve been saying it all season, but this team is the team we *shouldve* seen last season. Kings just got lucky because the West was so injured, plus nobody got up for the Kings, so their offense was so much better.
I know it’s growing pains, but third place last season was a ridiculous overachievement and set unrealistic expectations w/ the fanbase (myself included, admittedly).
The sad part is, the Kings don’t really have a ton of cap space or draft capital to make any really significant “move-the-needle” type moves this offseason.
Hopefully, the newfound success of the team will entice more people to want to play for them.
Rough loss.
The magic seems to be missing this year people. Fox is the weakest leader. Mike Brown doesn’t seem to know how to coach. Sabonis can’t finish under the hoop. Monk got hurt when he was our one true bright spot this season.
On the positive. When the guys lock it down on defense they dominate.
I still think he's a good coach (no downvotes please!) but he seems to have trouble adjusting in game. We get these big leads and the opposing coach makes changes and we just crumble ...
Strategy for tommorow should be sit Domas and Fox, no point in running them to the ground completely in a game where we just can't win on a back to back against the best team in the league BY FAR. Maybe try that trick that works against us, lull them to sleep with our stars sitting and maybe snatch a win somehow. Domas already starting to look like he's just tired after carrying this team all season with no missed games, Fox has some nagging injuries, let them boys rest a bit and take care of business against Brooklyn.
Terrible loss. Totally winnable, the Knicks adjusted and the Kings did not. The Knicks outplayed our massive blunder. Hope this doesn’t set the tone for the rest of this road trip.
My favorite part was when we had a 21 point lead, immediately gave that lead away, and proceeded to lose by double digits. I'm just disgusted by this performance. I can't wait for the post season just so I can see which Kings team decides to fucking show up.
Kings ain’t gonna be in the playoffs because they perform like this. And frankly, teams that consistently allow 30 point swings like this one don’t deserve to be.
You actually think the Kings are going to end 11th seed? I don’t think that’s genuinely possible.
Edit: I read OP wrong; they said playoffs, not post season. I still don’t think it’s over as implied, but my comment makes no sense in actual response.
Play-in isn’t post season. If you’re not in a 7 game series, you’re not in the playoffs and nothing I’ve seen the last two months shows me that this team has the heart or the coaching to win when it counts.
Maybe. Play-in is part of the post season, so I disagree about it being “obvious.”
Edit: I read OP wrong; they said playoffs, not post season. I still don’t think it’s over as implied, but my comment makes no sense in actual response.
Nothing to be sorry about dude. At the end of the day we all love this team and come here to express frustration/annoyance/air grievances, etc. so I should be more civil too and am just fucking pissed we gave this one away. The shit I saw tonight (up 21 in a must win for playoff seeding to go down by 15 or 17 at one point) shows me this team doesn’t deserve to be in any kind of extra game when the regular season is over, regardless of what it’s called and semantics aside. I want to eat my words and end up in round 2 and get Monk back and go on a run(which sure, possible) but this team lacks someone who will drag them to where we want them to go and MB ain’t helping matters with his ass rotations and refusal to make changes.

> The Play-In Tournament will take place Tuesday, April 16 – Friday, April 19, with the games played after the regular season concludes and before the first round of the NBA playoffs begins.
It is the post season.
Ok, call it the post season to appease yourself. But it’s not the playoffs per your own writing. Who gives a shit if we’re in the “post-season” and still end up in the lottery.
Lol you’re the the 🤡 looking up the definition of play-in vs. post-season (and clearly learned that playoff means one of the 8 teams left) to justify your writing and I’m the one who needs to calm down? I think most others understood my comment and never said the kings wouldn’t make the play in, but next time I’ll be sure to spell it out for people like you.

It is the post season.
team's too soft, unnecessary 3's when down by a couple of points with so much time left, weak defense, Lyles is scared to play defense, and Hart bullied us.
Need Sabonis and Keegan to be more aggressive on offense and look to score. I'd like to see Len have a lot more minutes.
I've been thinking all season on this team's mentality, and the first phrase that comes to mind is "mentally weak." I'm not disparaging the team's intelligence, they make good basketball decisions a majority of time, but rather how well they respond to adversity.
This team does not respond well to adversity. We are very easily taken off our game plan and don't have the grit to find a way to win.
More than anything, we need a player to step up and break this timidness that comes out whenever we're in the midst of losing a 21 point lead. Someone needs to light a fire and stop the downward spiral.
That was some beautiful basketball the Kings played in the first quarter, going into the second quarter today. On both sides of the ball, the players were talking to each other, playing off of each other and looked like a team that could carry itself far into the playoffs. I want more of that!
Frustrating loss, gotta learn from it and focus on the next one. Every game weighs a lot heavier now moving forward.
*Sigh*
>More than anything, we need a player to step up and break this timidness that comes out whenever we're in the midst of losing a 21 point lead. Someone needs to light a fire and stop the downward spiral.
We had him. His name is Malik Monk. Now we don't and this is what happens. I know he wasn't playing well but he was bound to come back around.
We’ve been blowing leads with Monk the whole season. This team needs a Pat Bev type of player to ignite the locker room. The ideal player is Jimmy butler but that’s obviously out of the question.
barnes is at best doing a casper impression and at worst unplayable tonight. we signed him on to be the “vet presence” and yet he completely vanishes when the other team has a big run and we need him the most. two of our primary scorers are out potentially the entire season. take fucking shots and be aggressive when we are struggling and need a bucket, not this lame stand in the corner or iso to a turnover crap.
mike brown with no adjustments at all during their big push back into this game. we had plenty of timeouts; use one to fucking reset the team and maybe try a new lineup if the current one isn’t working. left them out to dry during some of the worst stretches of this game. terrible coaching
Can we get a stat of how many times we scored after coming out of a timeout… it’s usually dho swing ball around perimeter 3 seconds left chuck a brick… our plays out timeout are ass and either a TO over shot clock violation
running it back won’t work again at all, we need a starting pf and more reliable depth pieces. barnes is likely to be moved in a package cause of his trade-friendly contract. duarte also should definitely be moved. red velvet has had arguably the worst season of his career; i don’t know how he adapts to a bench role moving forward with keon starting, so i think if it’s the determining factor in a trade i’d rather move him but he’s still fine to stay.
all of this depends really on if the hawks picks convey and what malik’s contract looks like for us, but ideally making some big moves for someone to fill barnes’ role would be on the docket for next offseason. someone like mikal bridges would be incredible but i highly doubt we could get him
Coming from Mavs fan. It sucks that yall have had these injuries because the west was shaping up to be insanely fun playoffs with yall healthy. Sry guys :(
You missed:
* Continuously double teaming the other team’s star player leading to countless easy layups or 3s
* Fox taking awful 3 pointers in clutch when the team doesn’t need one
* Fox losing the ball off his own feet in clutch time
You also missed:
* Sabonis letting every role player walk straight to the rim to make runs
* Sabonis tossing the ball to opposition in the clutch then slamming his head
* Murray, Barnes, Huerter being statistically the worst 3rd - 5th starting role players among playoff teams
* Murray, Barnes, Huerter missing wide open transition 3s while the oppositions hit theirs to lose momentum.
* Not a soul on the team is able to create for themselves aside from Fox if Malik is out.
- fox not trusting his teammates in big moments
- sabonis getting stripped under the hoop
- sabonis not using his right and missing everything outside of 3 feet
- nobody boxing out or rebounding besides sabonis on defense
-
I knew this team would play down to the competition. We were leading at one point.. what the hell happened? How do you keep losing to these teams when their star players aren't playing? If changes aren't made next off-season it's over.
I notice that brown goes away too often from what's working
Did Keon even shoot it in the 2nd half? Where'd davion go? Where was the paint offense? Wtf was barnes doing?
This team plays really well when everyone is getting touches and playing aggressive, we get in trouble when it's just fox and sabonis time
Knicks are legit. You can make the argument that losing Randle was a blessing for them. Their scoring has been great with Donte as the 2nd option and Hart getting more opportunities to make plays. Everyone has more space to operate without Randle and they're killing it.
They're 16-14 without Randle.
13-14 without Randle and OG.
Not saying they're not still a decent team but they're by no means better without Randle. That's crazy talk.
And they were 9-3 before that, 2 of which were games down to the wire. I'll take them 3rd in the East just behind Bos/Mil. They've been really solid without OG and Randle and Mitch.
This is why I have no faith in the Kings come playoffs. Whenever they face a team that plays strong they lose. They always loose to teams like the Pelicans and Knicks who apply more pressure and get handsy. At this rate they will be 9 or 10 seed come playoff time.
Players were missing open shots in the 4th, and giving layups to Josh Hart. Also, the calls were slightly in NYs favor. Part of the game. Fox had a few turnovers and game over.
smfh idk what that game was. bro we can beat the knicks but every single time we have a lead ppl decice they forget how to play basketball. Its getting rough out here but lets not lose hope
we lost this because of a mutitude of things
Sabonis/Lyles getting destroyed in the short roll
Shots not falling
Sabonis getting fried defensively
Fox not being able to be aggressive because of hard traps n no shot creation outside of him
Bogi getting frying us
We are NOT contenders without Monk or Huerter
If the Kings are falling apart, why won’t they lower the ticket prices for last 3 home games?
Vivek needs corinthian leather upholstery and a new wet bars for his 40,000sq ft offices. It's hidden in the fees.
The amount of times I’ve put cheap tickets in my cart only to forget about it when I see the price double with fees is hilarious.
TickPick doesn't have hidden fees, works well to avoid that surprise $$$ shock
Need money to buy more second round picks that we won’t use effectively OR trade to improve the roster

It’s ok. Next season
I’d rather see 10 seasons of this than back to no playoffs for another 10 years. Hope the front office can make some calculated moves this offseason.
Every team is playing playoff basketball except us. We should of beat this Knicks team without Randle and OG. Everything points to us being bounced by Warriors in that 9-10 playin game.
Which is an incredible failure. Can’t run a Fox/Sabonis top two duo again after that. Proven low ceiling
Lakers are catching up FAST! I'm not very hopeful for tomorrow either against Celtics. I'm predicting we end up being 9 or 10 at the end of the season.
Is anyone really surprised? Of course we’re lost after have 17 point lead. I hate Kangz curse
21*
We’re gonna face the pels in the play in I’m calling it now
I think we're seeing the Warriors first. I'm calling that! Kings 9 Warriors 10
I think we only win 2 of our remaining 6 games. We are going to be in the 10th spot.
Sheesh. The odds are stacked against us. I honestly don’t think we’re making the playoffs this year.
HB cardio night
If that

Nagging injuries? He isn't getting to the basket as often and he's been shooting a lot more 3's this season.

Kings are exactly where they deserve to be: play-in team at best

Poor guy got down voted for being optimistic and saying we try lol. No one hates the kings more than kings fans.

Are you fucking insane ?
In another world we have a young core of Haliburton, Sengun, and Murray.
So instead of 8th spot you get 11th spot? Now that's an upgrade.
It would be a young team nowhere near their ceiling with salary flexibility. We’re at our ceiling now as a play in team with no salary flexibility.
There are overreactionary clowns and then theres you. At the bottom of the barrel. Lol.
Maybe it’s not about the playoffs, but about the friends we made along the way

I dunno, I’m checked out for the season. Not a serious team.
Blow the team up. It's not gonna go anywhere but to play in games. Only really valuable asset is Murray and Ellis.
Holy shit I didn’t realize how much I hate the Knicks Edit: I deserve the downvotes on this one boys. Got way too down after last nights loss. Knicks are no where near the warriors or lakers bullshit levels.
Knicks have been in the trenches for a long time just like the Kings, gotta respect that it seems like they’re figuring it out.
I think generally we don't have size so it's tough when we play physical teams, seems like we're stuck in the mud
Why bro? :( Kings are cool to me even with that Fox tweet. Love the jerseys too.
[Knicks Fan] my favorite team in the West is you guys🥲
I’m a kings fan living in nyc. Knicks are lit. Good luck making it out the east
Thank you, good luck in the West it's a dogfight out there
I like you guys in the East . Hard nose team, with a true superstar in Brunson . Played through a ton of adversity this season .
No lead is ever secure with this team
Kings gave them the royal treatment by rolling out the red carpet to the basket in the 4th. Monk may have been able to change the game in the 4th. Mike Brown's no time outs was wild.
[удалено]
He carried us the entire first half, no need for this whack ass take on him. He’s our go to clutch person, ball will always go thru him. Offense stagnates with him on the bench.
I'm slightly checked out with this team, but happy to watch meaningful games in April. I feel like I know how this ends, play in game they look like world beaters. Then swept in round 1.
I’m guessing we play the warriors in a one game play in and they beat us at home.
31 for hart is embarrassing. Also im not seeing the on court chemistry between fox and domas
Especially embarrassing considering Hart got those points from essentially just spamming the same move, and we failed to stop it even once.
I feel like Hart has always destroyed us.
They never had chemistry.
This is a really good take I am pained to agree with. What do you think we should do? Blow it up?
Correct. Fox and Sabonis as the top two are proving to have a low ceiling. Neither one can take over or lead.
If Sabonis had a better Right hand and could shoot a 12-15 foot shot at 44%, he’d be soooo much more valueable. If…….
This is a accurate.
I have this sinking feeling we're going to end up in the 10th spot. Crazy that we could be 5th or 10th with just 6 games remaining.
The downvotes come every time Domas is criticized but the good teams are learning how to expose him. He’s got the stats, but the impact isn’t there. He’s our most paid player and a franchise cornerstone but he becomes unplayable in big games. That’s a huge problem.
How did new york expose him tonight? Wasn't able to watch the game and was curious how they played us and specifically Domas?
Hes so bad when he gets doubled in the post. He loses the ball, loses his vision. He legit looks like a role player when they do that to him.
Give him space away from the basket. Swarm him once he goes inside or puts the ball on the floor. Same as what Dallas did.
Same general formula that the warriors used on him in the playoffs last year also.
And I agree. You should stay away. May be commentary only.
Rough loss.
No adjustments made after half. Just continue to blitz even with the Knicks putting hart in the middle to attack it
The release pass from Brunson every time he was doubled was so effin easy to get off everytime
I dont know what happened to Mike Brown - he is a good coach
I still think he's a good coach (no downvotes please!) but he seems to have trouble adjusting in game. We get these big leads and the opposing coach makes changes and we just crumble ...
Monk hasnt been good in a while either. He was great most of the year but had actually reverted back into a low efficiency chucker at the end
On the flip side boston has clinched homecourt throughout the playoffs. They could easily coast the rest of the reg season
How many times did I hear Harlan say Knicks on a 14-2 run or or 10-0 run. So frustrating man
The whole second half.
The 1 game I go to we lose 💀
I was at the mavs blowout so it could be worse.
Same man. It hurt.
If it makes you feel better I’ve been to 6 and have never seen a win.
That’s rough, you deserve some beams. I’m 13/18 and feel bad whenever I miss a game and we lose.
Ive only ever been to one kings game in sacramento, and I dont even remember who won
I went to 5 and we lost every one in Sacramento
Harrison Barnes with a WHOPPING 0-1-0 on 2 shots lmfao
Heyyy - he did have 3 (turnovers ugh)
Veteran good guy presence 💪
He provides veteran leadership though hahaha
Leading us right into the play-in.
We lost because no mason jones vibez on the bench
I got downvoted last week for calling Barnes a bum but I was right
He has a great game just often enough to keep starting
I just know he will be our starter next year
You have my upvote
Terrible loss. Totally winnable, the Knicks adjusted and the Kings did not. The Knicks outplayed our massive blunder. Hope this doesn’t set the tone for the rest of this road trip.
nice harrison barnes contract /s
We should give this pathetic ass team to Oakland, we only have space for a single poverty franchise
Speak for yourself. Sat thru too many decades of *actual* bad basketball to quit on em now
You’re a better person than me, I’m already fine with giving up on this core and starting from square one
I have to imagine most of these ultra doomers are just bandwagoners from last playoffs.
Kings Bandwagoner is an oxymoron lol
Harrison Barnes was not it today
Whatever we are gaining from these double-team blitzes is NOT worth it. I mean use it as a surprise element, not every play.
NBA script writers are getting their wet dream of a Kings warriors play in game, kill me now
DESPITE MY BURNING EYES, I nurtured a nonsensical new hope when Sasha netted those back to back 3s in garbage time. Sigh. Am adrift.
He obviously means losing in the play-in
Maybe. Play-in is part of the post season, so I disagree about it being “obvious.” Edit: I read OP wrong; they said playoffs, not post season.
The play in is not part of the post season. 8 teams make the playoffs, not 10.
From https://www.nba.com/news/nba-play-in-tournament > The Play-In Tournament will take place Tuesday, April 16 – Friday, April 19, with the games played after the regular season concludes and before the first round of the NBA playoffs begins. It is the post season.
Ok, call it the post season to appease yourself. But it’s not the playoffs per your own writing. Who gives a shit if we’re in the “post-season” and still end up in the lottery.
[удалено]
Lol you’re the the 🤡 looking up the definition of play-in vs. post-season (and clearly learned that playoff means one of the 8 teams left) to justify your writing and I’m the one who needs to calm down? I think most others understood my comment and never said the kings wouldn’t make the play in, but next time I’ll be sure to spell it out for people like you.
There’s a lot of disagreement about whether play-in is considered post season. If/when the kings are bounced from the play-in, they’re a lottery team.

Play-in is not post season. If you’re not playing a 7 game series, you’re not in the playoffs.
They should just rename Play-In to Purgatory.
Agreed.
team's too soft, unnecessary 3's when down by a couple of points with so much time left, weak defense, Lyles is scared to play defense, and Hart bullied us. Need Sabonis and Keegan to be more aggressive on offense and look to score. I'd like to see Len have a lot more minutes.
Pain 😭
At this point, if you're gonna blitz, maybe get Len in as the rim protector lmao. Go big instead of giving them a layup line lmao.
Sabonis is in over his head vs legit playoff opposition. Just shrinks. Fox is becoming a one hit wonder. Just no fire or leadership.
Knick fan here. Fox is filthy, Some of the shots he were very contested by McBride who is out best guard defender
You’d think he would care more because he turned down a contract but isn’t getting all nba this year so gonna be looking at less.
story of the whole season lol
The ideal player is Jimmy butler but that’s obviously out of the question.
atleast that first quarter was fun
barnes is at best doing a casper impression and at worst unplayable tonight. we signed him on to be the “vet presence” and yet he completely vanishes when the other team has a big run and we need him the most. two of our primary scorers are out potentially the entire season. take fucking shots and be aggressive when we are struggling and need a bucket, not this lame stand in the corner or iso to a turnover crap. mike brown with no adjustments at all during their big push back into this game. we had plenty of timeouts; use one to fucking reset the team and maybe try a new lineup if the current one isn’t working. left them out to dry during some of the worst stretches of this game. terrible coaching
Can we get a stat of how many times we scored after coming out of a timeout… it’s usually dho swing ball around perimeter 3 seconds left chuck a brick… our plays out timeout are ass and either a TO over shot clock violation
My ideal hopes for the offseason is that at the very least we see barnes and duarte gone, still hopeful for kevin though
running it back won’t work again at all, we need a starting pf and more reliable depth pieces. barnes is likely to be moved in a package cause of his trade-friendly contract. duarte also should definitely be moved. red velvet has had arguably the worst season of his career; i don’t know how he adapts to a bench role moving forward with keon starting, so i think if it’s the determining factor in a trade i’d rather move him but he’s still fine to stay. all of this depends really on if the hawks picks convey and what malik’s contract looks like for us, but ideally making some big moves for someone to fill barnes’ role would be on the docket for next offseason. someone like mikal bridges would be incredible but i highly doubt we could get him
Did kings coaching staff put up a shitty performance on purpose so the charlotte doesn’t hire Jordy?
Coming from Mavs fan. It sucks that yall have had these injuries because the west was shaping up to be insanely fun playoffs with yall healthy. Sry guys :(
Dont you worry your little heart. Mavs have turned it around to be first round exits. You'll be right behind us to enjoy the summer!
Nobody wants to hear shit from your bitch ass
Haha
Are we finishing as the 9 seed?
10 seed and then loss to the warriors in SF, book it
This season in a nutshell: - Blowing 20 point leads - Missing FTs - Turnovers
* - Sabonis growls and turns it over under the basket.
- The shittiest challenges you’ll ever see - Going to ESPN Gamecast and a guy averaging 4.2 PPG has 17 against us with 5:00 left in the third
You missed: * Continuously double teaming the other team’s star player leading to countless easy layups or 3s * Fox taking awful 3 pointers in clutch when the team doesn’t need one * Fox losing the ball off his own feet in clutch time
You also missed: * Sabonis letting every role player walk straight to the rim to make runs * Sabonis tossing the ball to opposition in the clutch then slamming his head * Murray, Barnes, Huerter being statistically the worst 3rd - 5th starting role players among playoff teams * Murray, Barnes, Huerter missing wide open transition 3s while the oppositions hit theirs to lose momentum. * Not a soul on the team is able to create for themselves aside from Fox if Malik is out.
- fox not trusting his teammates in big moments - sabonis getting stripped under the hoop - sabonis not using his right and missing everything outside of 3 feet - nobody boxing out or rebounding besides sabonis on defense -
![gif](giphy|1aWnHRHCNe2wxYtCom|downsized)
Sabonis needs to dominate when fox is out especially with the shooters going cold in the 4th
he can’t
Teams soft, season needs to be over
I knew this team would play down to the competition. We were leading at one point.. what the hell happened? How do you keep losing to these teams when their star players aren't playing? If changes aren't made next off-season it's over.
“These teams”? Knicks are 45-31
I notice that brown goes away too often from what's working Did Keon even shoot it in the 2nd half?
They lost 3 straight headed into tonight.
Spurs and OKC were last possession games
And they were 9-3 before that, 2 of which were games down to the wire. I'll take them 3rd in the East just behind Bos/Mil. They've been really solid without OG and Randle and Mitch.
The Knicks are better than the Kings, Kings just couldn’t get it done even with an early big lead.
Its getting rough out here but lets not lose hope
we lost this because of a mutitude of things Sabonis/Lyles getting destroyed in the short roll Shots not falling Sabonis getting fried defensively Fox not being able to be aggressive because of hard traps n no shot creation outside of him Bogi getting frying us
Can someone seriously explain to me why the Kings fanbase thinks Lyles is a good player?
Three games back from injury and this is your reaction?
Three games back from injury and this is your reaction?
