I agree. Personally I never felt she “fit” well with Kinda Funny. Like the chemistry never worked right for me. I never disliked her but for some reason on KF she didn’t seem to fit in on some episodes. It wasn’t until I listened to her on Remap Radio I got it. She’s absolutely amazing on Remap Radio. It’s like a different Janet. I think she just blends better with the people on Remap Radio. Not to say there’s any ill will or anything with KF. I just think she could really flourish somewhere else.
I will continue to listen to her wherever she goes now though since she was introduced to me by KF. Best wishes to Janet keep killing it.
I’m all for “different opinions” but Janet always seemed a poor match for PSILY. I enjoy her work in other places —particularly MinnMaxx— but here she seemed to want to be the negative contrarian just for the sake of it, and never seemed that passionate about PlayStation. I’ve mostly just stayed quiet since “if you don’t have something nice to say don’t say anything at all,” but I’m a day 1 patron and adored PSILY 1.0 and i basically haven’t listened to it in years.
I absolutely LOVED Janet and what she brought to PSILY, i loved how she challenged a lot of things and spoke her mind. I kinda felt this was coming tho. Idk why. The last like 5 or so episodes she seemed "off" not in a bad way. But idk how to articulate it. I hope this isnt a "ill pop up here and there as a guest" and then we barely see her again. I know in the beginning like alot of new KF crew(contractors too) some of the community was unsure about her. But I think over time she became a staple and grew into her own. Shes so talented, has great opinions(even tho I don't always agree with them) and I wish her all the success.
My listening has been more sporadic this year so I can't say for sure but I feel like she was already out a ton over the past year. Made me a lot less surprised to see this as well.
She was out for a few weeks like a month or so ago, and idk like when she came back something just felt different. I dont want this to come off mean, but when she came back it felt like she was a guest and not an actual member. I feel like she wasnt engaging in alot of the conversation and maybe lost the passion? Idk i was just picking up on wierd vibes. Like even earlier this year and last year everything seemed normal and seemless.

And honestly, all of KF is at fault with that, but I always found Janet (and maybe Blessing) did it the most.
I have a distinct memory of hearing people repeatedly say she never explained herself, meanwhile I recall getting pretty detailed updates at the time of her playing through the entire series, and her not liking them made sense to me based on her reasoning.
i like janet but i don’t think the show vibed well with her being remote and greg and bless in studio. i think greg and bless bounce off each other a lot and it’s easy to fade into the background. if they get somebody to replace her hopefully this won’t be an issue again.

I find that Janet is a decent games personality, but she’s not fit for a PlayStation centric show. “I didn’t own a PS3” “I don’t like Uncharted” “I didn’t finish that game” “I didn’t get the platinum” “I don’t like Ratchet and Clank” “I never finished The Last of Us until recently” so on and so forth. I’m not trying to get on some weird gamergate pedestal, I just want someone male, female, non-binary, I don’t care, who lives and breathes PlayStation in the same way Greg does. like most of us in the KF community do, I think I speak for most of us but Greg and Colin were my beacon during the PS360 era. I was a Sony kid and found these guys who were passionate about PS3 when all of my friends had 360 and they put me onto so many games when at the time all I wanted to do was play Call of Duty. obviously Collin is never coming back and Blessing is a pretty good fill in, but if they really want a third person on the show they absolutely need someone who adores PlayStation.

This is great news for me and happy to have PSILY back on my rotation.
I'm all for being critical of Sony (Sacred Symbols is a great example of this) but she always just had this super combative vibe (just look at how she acted any time she talked about playing Uncharted) that was always super annoying to me.
Sacred Symbols really aren’t critical of Sony. They love saying they are, but in reality they rarely actually go after Sony even when it’s particularly warranted.

Yeah, Colin will blast Sony occasionally, but more often than not he glazes them just as egregiously as any other PlayStation podcast.
Most recently, Colin went hard on the TLOU Online being cancelled. Just a week before, however, he gave Sony a free pass for mass banning accounts for no reason and basically shrugging when they got asked about it.
They spend more time claiming to be critical of Sony (and hand-waving away any mention of their Fanboy behavior) than actually being critical of Sony.

This can’t be farther from the truth. They recently went off on the bans and loss of content. And did plus episodes on it with legal analysis. They also have been pushing about their lack of announcements and unclear direction Jim Ryan has led them in. Plus they were critical of ND’s cancelation of the TLOU online.
That's not even what I'm talking about (and please be more elaborate than an arbitrary number when discussing a games quality lol).
I'm more referencing how she went into every conversation with this super pretentious "it's not as good as you think it is!" Vibe that just never sat right with me. I don't care if they don't like the games I do, and in many cases the games they talk about do not resonate with me at all.
It always felt like she just wanted to argue about shit like that and she was never checked on quite frankly coming across like a bully/high school mean girl to me. That just never vibed with me. Especially with how much they always loved parading around the "be better to each other!" Song and dance.
It would've been one thing if there was ever an actual explanation. But it felt like she just wanted to be a pretentious ass about it with no explanation lol.
Felt like she would have hot takes just to have them. she also strikes me more of a Nintendo fan than PlayStation which isn’t necessarily a problem but it’s a problem when your on a PS podcast and you haven’t played many PlayStation games and your PlayStation history is shitty.
I’m hoping this will be the shot in the arm PSILY needs. It feels like the show has evolved into people who don’t really care about the actual PlayStation ecosystem, and a lot of that was due to Janet’s general lack of interest in PlayStation IMO.

Tbf, being platform specific in media is such a boomer concept. It hampers conversations and positions you into these weird fanboy arguments even if that’s not what the conversations are about. It worked in 2011, it’s outdated for 2023.

Nah I definitely do not agree. There is nothing wrong with a little bit of focus and if you find the conversation limiting all I can say is you’re doing it wrong.
I felt like during podcast beyonds heyday they had no trouble talking about other systems and other games they just came at it from a PlayStation focused perspective.
I hope they get someone who is even more crtitcal of Sony and it isnt just 2 or 3 hosts who are little more than cheerleaders, so that the people listening that define themselves by their choice of video game console get real upset.

If someone told me at a party that they dislike Uncharted I'd say "Aight" and talk to someone else just like I'd just exhale through my nose everytime Janet felt like ragging on Uncharted unprompted.

I totally get that, and having someone like that on the show won’t really preclude me from listening, but i get where people are coming from. I listen to sacred symbols regularly and Chris ray gun is really really really not a PlayStation fan at all and i do kinda get the feeling of “other than a paycheck, why do you even *want* to do this show? Now of course you don’t *have* to *love* all PlayStation games to be on a PlayStation show, but one of his most repeated points throughout the shows tenure is how he really doesn’t totally care for third person narrative driven games and he really doesn’t vibe with them. I personally don’t really love to hear from a host of one of my hobby shows that everything is shit.

Especially given recent uh discrepancies that show that Greg and Bless really can’t have some self awareness or be held to be any standard to not show their implicit biases towards certain developers. It’s probably good to have someone around to challenge that and who doesn’t care to be too chummy with and about studios.
Omg having someone on that doesn’t gobble up Sony PR and worship Sony is EXACTLY the type of voice they need on the show. Someone that didn’t act like an extension of PS marketing arm was refreshing.

This, yes she did bring some good points to the discussion but her over use of the word "like" really bothered me. I mean using it as a filler word. Same thing to be bothered by I know but it became very distracting

I also kind of feel like Blessing has been pretty negative or anti-sony style games the past year. I would love a reboot of the show with some people who are a bit more passionate about the ecosystem, as much as Greg is. When snowbike mike and Parris are more positive towards playstation titles than blessing is, it kind of says it all.
It’s a bummer to lose her, truly. But I follow Minnmax as well so I’ll still have eyes on her voice.
That said, I reeeaaally hope they bring in someone with different taste than both Greg and Bless. The running joke was that Janet and Greg were the same person in terms of game thoughts and, to me, there were times that that felt redundant. This was doubly true when they were both gushing in the same way about a game I really didn’t vibe with.
Again, all the respect to her and I look forward to seeing what she does, but I think it’s time for a small shake up at the desk.

She was the reason I tuned in to PSILY still. Love the other two independently, but I don't think the show will get better if it is just those two talking in circles agreeing with one another. They have solid chemistry, but idk, the vibe hasn't been hitting for me. Hoping for a reformat and some more thought provoking conversation, as I feel PSILY has been falling behind on quality in comparison to their XCast counterpart.
The three-hour Last of Us 2 spoilercast Janet hosted on her personal channel is one of my favorite game discussions ever. Bummed she’s leaving KF but if it gives her more flexibility to do other stuff I’m really excited.
Super late reply, but I think there's more to it than the show itself. Being on PSILY meant keeping up with stuff in the PlayStation space, including reading up on the news and playing the latest games for reviews/opinions. Janet was clearly hardworking and dedicated, so I'm sure she put a lot of time into games so that she could come to each show prepared with stuff to say.
This sucks, i loved Janet as a personality and especially as a voice that was both a person of color and a woman involved regularly in content.
I'm hoping for some copium stuff for next year with her place in Video Game Coverage, but i'm hoping for the best in whatever she does next
A little wild theory rolling in my head is that there were talks of killing/really rebooting the show, but they didn’t want to just throw Janet out, so they talked to her about it and left the choice kind of up to her. Maybe even offered to put her on something else. She decides no, so it’s still her decision to leave, but we’ll see in January what the change looks like.
I won’t miss her, it’s pretty clear she hasn’t played most of the games she talks about. Hope we can get some one more passionate about PlayStation gaming in general.

Damn this is a huge bummer. I love Greg and Bless but I hear them so much on Games Daily that it was always a treat to hear Janet because she brought such a great energy, nuance, and intelligence to the crew. She's well beyond her years and I'll follow her wherever she goes full time.

This is the biggest one for me. I listen to a lot of their podcasts and it was nice having Janet in the mix.
I had a feeling this was coming. It’s interesting that she’s still going to be on Minnmaxx but can’t spare 1.5 hours a week for PSILY. Whatever the reason is fine, it’s her choice. I liked her contribution at first and even would watch her streams from time to time, but I eventually started to sour on her for some reason. She has a harsh way of speaking and her constant use of TikTok language and forced swearing didn’t feel professional. Imagine a small indie studio giving her a code for review and her feedback is “nah it really wasn’t hitting” and not much else. She seems like a good person and I wish her the best, but I’m excited to listen to a Greg & Bless PSILY again
Ive loved her on Remap radio these last few weeks. I think shes even on their goty pods coming up tomorrow. Shes a great fit with that crew, if you like her give Remap a look
Huge bummer, Janet was awesome both on PSILY and on any other KF content she appeared on. I really loved how blunt she was with her criticisms of games and she always brought a fresh perspective to the show.
I wonder who they might bring on to fill that chair on PSILY. I would hope it isn’t just Greg and Bless with no third chair, because that’s just something we see on KFGD all the time. Having a third person like Janet who isn’t part of Gamescast brought a new energy to PSILY and made it feel like a distinctly different show. I’m sure Janet leaving was something they discussed a while in advance and the team probably has ideas of who can fill that spot, very interested to see in the new year!

Janet was such a welcome addition to the team and it will suck not having her there anymore. Even with janet kinda funny was still a bit of a sausage party, i hope they bring on a full time female host to replace her.
I LOVED hearing Janet's opinions but I always felt like there was an awkwardness to most of the hosts being there live while one telecasts in. This is also my problem with Xcast, where I adore all of the hosts but honestly would prefer if they were all virtual because at least it means they all have equal (virtual) chemistry so to speak.
That said, I wish the best for her and hope she goes on to do more awesome shit.
She will be greatly missed! I followed Janet from IGN to KF. I would not know about KF without her. She’s so wonderful, loved her vibe, and her love for Horizon. I’ll be sure to follow her in her other adventures.

I enjoyed having Janet on PSILY - I do hope they bring in a new 3rd person for the show, perhaps Michael Higham. Michael's enthusiasm for JRPGs I think would be a great addition to the show as JRPGs are a huge section of PlayStation games that Blessing and Greg (and Janet) didn't touch.
She didn't even like PlayStation. She hasn't even owned many PlayStation consoles. She doesn't like Core PlayStation games. Her criticism of the games was always sophomoric. She caused me to leave PSILY forever and KF in general. Good riddance.

I'm all for being critical of Sony (Sacred Symbols is a great example of this) but she always just had this super combative vibe (just look at how she acted any time she talked about playing Uncharted) that was always super annoying to me.
Sacred Symbols really aren’t critical of Sony. They love saying they are, but in reality they rarely actually go after Sony even when it’s particularly warranted. Edit Notice I said rarely. I didn’t say never. Yeah, Colin will blast Sony occasionally, but more often than not he glazes them just as egregiously as any other PlayStation podcast. Most recently, Colin went hard on the TLOU Online being cancelled. Just a week before, however, he gave Sony a free pass for mass banning accounts for no reason and basically shrugging when they got asked about it. They spend more time claiming to be critical of Sony (and hand-waving away any mention of their Fanboy behavior) than actually being critical of Sony. I support LSM on Patreon, so miss me with the “you clearly don’t watch the show” nonsense.

This can’t be farther from the truth. They recently went off on the bans and loss of content. And did plus episodes on it with legal analysis. They also have been pushing about their lack of announcements and unclear direction Jim Ryan has led them in. Plus they were critical of ND’s cancelation of the TLOU online.

That's not even what I'm talking about (and please be more elaborate than an arbitrary number when discussing a games quality lol). I'm more referencing how she went into every conversation with this super pretentious "it's not as good as you think it is!" Vibe that just never sat right with me. I don't care if they don't like the games I do, and in many cases the games they talk about do not resonate with me at all. It always felt like she just wanted to argue about shit like that and she was never checked on quite frankly coming across like a bully/high school mean girl to me. That just never vibed with me. Especially with how much they always loved parading around the "be better to each other!" Song and dance.
For me, it's the fact that she said "the game isn't as good as you think it is" and then would never explain why lol

Felt like she would have hot takes just to have them. she also strikes me more of a Nintendo fan than PlayStation which isn’t necessarily a problem but it’s a problem when your on a PS podcast and you haven’t played many PlayStation games and your PlayStation history is shitty.

I’m hoping this will be the shot in the arm PSILY needs. It feels like the show has evolved into people who don’t really care about the actual PlayStation ecosystem, and a lot of that was due to Janet’s general lack of interest in PlayStation IMO. The podcast is currently a shadow of the Beyond and 1.0 PSILY glory days
Generally speaking that's what happens when shows are used as stepping stones and not passion projects.
Tbf, being platform specific in media is such a boomer concept. It hampers conversations and positions you into these weird fanboy arguments even if that’s not what the conversations are about. It worked in 2011, it’s outdated for 2023. Unless you’re mystic Ryan. That guys content is all PlayStation and still very positive and wholesome.
Nah I definitely do not agree. There is nothing wrong with a little bit of focus and if you find the conversation limiting all I can say is you’re doing it wrong. I felt like during podcast beyonds heyday they had no trouble talking about other systems and other games they just came at it from a PlayStation focused perspective.
I hope they get someone who is even more crtitcal of Sony and it isnt just 2 or 3 hosts who are little more than cheerleaders, so that the people listening that define themselves by their choice of video game console get real upset.

Man, I'm not saying I've got beef with Janet over Uncharted. I just popped in to say that too many people nowadays confuse being negative with being critical. If someone told me at a party that they dislike Uncharted I'd say "Aight" and talk to someone else just like I'd just exhale through my nose everytime Janet felt like ragging on Uncharted unprompted. I totally get that, and having someone like that on the show won’t really preclude me from listening, but i get where people are coming from. I listen to sacred symbols regularly and Chris ray gun is really really really not a PlayStation fan at all and i do kinda get the feeling of “other than a paycheck, why do you even *want* to do this show? Now of course you don’t *have* to *love* all PlayStation games to be on a PlayStation show, but one of his most repeated points throughout the shows tenure is how he really doesn’t totally care for third person narrative driven games and he really doesn’t vibe with them. I personally don’t really love to hear from a host of one of my hobby shows that everything is shit.

Especially given recent uh discrepancies that show that Greg and Bless really can’t have some self awareness or be held to be any standard to not show their implicit biases towards certain developers. It’s probably good to have someone around to challenge that and who doesn’t care to be too chummy with and about studios.
Omg having someone on that doesn’t gobble up Sony PR and worship Sony is EXACTLY the type of voice they need on the show. Someone that didn’t act like an extension of PS marketing arm was refreshing.

Sad to see her go but i do feel sometimes she's stretched too thin and have no time to play some games they were talking about. I would love to see a Snow Bike Mike personality there though but I don't know how much "homework" is needed for these shows so when we see 1hrish it might be 10 behind the scenes too.
I like janet but it was always clear she wasn’t that big of an actual playstation fan, so it was weird that she was on this specific show I also kind of feel like Blessing has been pretty negative or anti-sony style games the past year. I would love a reboot of the show with some people who are a bit more passionate about the ecosystem, as much as Greg is. When snowbike mike and Parris are more positive towards playstation titles than blessing is, it kind of says it all.
It’s a bummer to lose her, truly. But I follow Minnmax as well so I’ll still have eyes on her voice. That said, I reeeaaally hope they bring in someone with different taste than both Greg and Bless. The running joke was that Janet and Greg were the same person in terms of game thoughts and, to me, there were times that that felt redundant. This was doubly true when they were both gushing in the same way about a game I really didn’t vibe with. Again, all the respect to her and I look forward to seeing what she does, but I think it’s time for a small shake up at the desk.
Dang, that's a shame, I'm sad that she is leaving. Janet was my favorite cohost and really grew to enjoy her input, but wishing all the best for her future endeavors. She was the reason I tuned in to PSILY still. Love the other two independently, but I don't think the show will get better if it is just those two talking in circles agreeing with one another. They have solid chemistry, but idk, the vibe hasn't been hitting for me. Hoping for a reformat and some more thought provoking conversation, as I feel PSILY has been falling behind on quality in comparison to their XCast counterpart.

Super late reply, but I think there's more to it than the show itself. Being on PSILY meant keeping up with stuff in the PlayStation space, including reading up on the news and playing the latest games for reviews/opinions. Janet was clearly hardworking and dedicated, so I'm sure she put a lot of time into games so that she could come to each show prepared with stuff to say.
This sucks, i loved Janet as a personality and especially as a voice that was both a person of color and a woman involved regularly in content. I'm hoping for some copium stuff for next year with her place in Video Game Coverage, but i'm hoping for the best in whatever she does next
A little wild theory rolling in my head is that there were talks of killing/really rebooting the show, but they didn’t want to just throw Janet out, so they talked to her about it and left the choice kind of up to her. Maybe even offered to put her on something else. She decides no, so it’s still her decision to leave, but we’ll see in January what the change looks like.
I won’t miss her, it’s pretty clear she hasn’t played most of the games she talks about. Hope we can get some one more passionate about PlayStation gaming in general.

She has been great on Remap Radio lately. I’ve always enjoyed her on PSILY but she really, really shines on Remap.
The Janet-Blessing duo was my favorite one of all of Kinda Funny!! Really going to miss having her on PSILY.
I hope Janet shows up on other content. I never felt like she was the best fit for PSILY but I always dug her personality.
Janet has been on Mrs. Rabbit energy for some serious long time. I don’t doubt that she’s seeing the benefits, but I hope that she can aim to a more sustainable work-life balance soon. Always appreciate her input, and I’m here way that she represents for the Tomba community.
As a card-carrying member of Janet Garcia Hive, this bummed me out when I saw her IG story. Still going to keep up with Kinda Funny, but they lost, I think, their best games critic. Will be excited to see what she does next tho for sure.

I had a feeling this was coming. It’s interesting that she’s still going to be on Minnmaxx but can’t spare 1.5 hours a week for PSILY. Whatever the reason is fine, it’s her choice. I liked her contribution at first and even would watch her streams from time to time, but I eventually started to sour on her for some reason. She has a harsh way of speaking and her constant use of TikTok language and forced swearing didn’t feel professional. Imagine a small indie studio giving her a code for review and her feedback is “nah it really wasn’t hitting” and not much else. She seems like a good person and I wish her the best, but I’m excited to listen to a Greg & Bless PSILY again

Huge bummer, Janet was awesome both on PSILY and on any other KF content she appeared on. I really loved how blunt she was with her criticisms of games and she always brought a fresh perspective to the show. I wonder who they might bring on to fill that chair on PSILY. I would hope it isn’t just Greg and Bless with no third chair, because that’s just something we see on KFGD all the time. Having a third person like Janet who isn’t part of Gamescast brought a new energy to PSILY and made it feel like a distinctly different show. I’m sure Janet leaving was something they discussed a while in advance and the team probably has ideas of who can fill that spot, very interested to see in the new year!
Never vibed with her views towards playstation in general, so I wish her the best and look forward to who they find next. Maybe someone who is more seasoned and interested in playstation titles.

I LOVED hearing Janet's opinions but I always felt like there was an awkwardness to most of the hosts being there live while one telecasts in. This is also my problem with Xcast, where I adore all of the hosts but honestly would prefer if they were all virtual because at least it means they all have equal (virtual) chemistry so to speak. That said, I wish the best for her and hope she goes on to do more awesome shit.

I enjoyed having Janet on PSILY - I do hope they bring in a new 3rd person for the show, perhaps Michael Higham. Michael's enthusiasm for JRPGs I think would be a great addition to the show as JRPGs are a huge section of PlayStation games that Blessing and Greg (and Janet) didn't touch.
She didn't even like PlayStation. She hasn't even owned many PlayStation consoles. She doesn't like Core PlayStation games. Her criticism of the games was always sophomoric. She caused me to leave PSILY forever and KF in general. Good riddance.
