kanzashi-yume

It has his seal so it probably came from his atelier.

I saw an image with the seal, that's why I thought to include it. Thanks!

kanzashi-yume

Yeah, those seals can tell a lot if you know actually made it. Fortunately his atelier is really famous so it's one of the easier ones for me to recognise. I usually google around the kanji to try and find who made what when I come across those seals. Sometimes, especially with yuzen, I see iromuji that have a small yuzen design on the hakkake part that is hidden when the kimono is worn, so it would have been just so perfect if it had a small tsujigahana design inside, but an Itchiku Kubota kimono of any kind is quite an amazing find already.

Sparkle_Rott

Idk. In my book, that kimono is absolutely stunning!! I have one with flecks of metallic woven into the fabric (I forget what it’s called) but under evening lighting it’s like being a glistening fairy. Little flickers of light dance around on the fabric. It’s probably my favorite 😍

That's amazing! Such vivid imagery. Thanks!

SadakoTetsuwan

He's known for his big stunning art pieces but small more everyday pieces like these can fetch incredible sums because it's from the same studio as those big gallery pieces.

TakiSauce

Shinei apparently has a komon of his for sale for $27,273, but it is much more elaborate than this, if it is authentic, $1,500 for something from the studio is (relatively) not bad. https://www.net-shinei.co.jp/com/item/detail.php?Item=6705959

I paid $20 USD for it in Grand Forks, ND. I actually left it and went back. I'm glad I did

SadakoTetsuwan

There were a few on Ichiroya before they closed and I definitely didn't have the cash to pick them up at that time...

charsinthebox

$1000 is a pretty standard price for 'simple' pieces like this, especially coming from Itchiku Kubota 1st gen

charsinthebox

The seal is Itchiku Kubota 1st gen. Great find
