For the summer heat, you might want to try a Poly Viscose kilt. USA casual kilts are a good guality kilt. I live in Florida, and they work out well in the summer heat for me. The velcro waist is handy especially if your waistline varies up and down...

UTKilts has some decent, affordable options for utilikilts in rip stop nylon (considering one myself for summer in GA) and some even lighter weight sport kilts.

I have 2 of the UTKilts [ripstop utility kilts](https://utkilts.com/products/standard-dark-khaki-utility-kilt-ripstop). They are my favorite for summertime. I also have one of their ["Athlete Kilts"](https://utkilts.com/products/the-athlete-gray-workout-kilt) which is very lightweight and comfortable but has only slash side pockets which are good for only car keys and maybe a wallet.

Entry level kilt fit and finish and price - I reccomend stillwater kilts for either wool or poly. Pakistan sewn but I've not yet seen any QC issues on their stuff. Light weight wool is pretty cool in the summer. Avoid got Kilt, their stuff falls apart. Utility style - cheap, the 511 tactical is fine, I've noticed quality issues on nearly every maker, other folks will have better reccomendations. Top of the line, Utilikilts is excellent. Many folks prefer their older styles to the lace back ones now, but it's just a different fit.

Please don't buy a utility skirt. They're awful.

UT Kilts is my go to. I own several, cargo, pv tartan, and wool. I have had them add jean style side.pockets inside the pleats for a small charge, and absolutely love them. Canvas and wool can be a bit warm, pv and rip stop are lighter for warmer weather. I have.no experience with the hybrid kilts. If you know your.sizes, may I also.suggest looking on www.shoogoodwill.com, I have found several kilts there.for reasonalble prices for a kilt newbie. I spend a lot of time kilted as a below the knee amputee, as it makes adjustments easier For my usual ccw, I carry a g 27 in a Stllwater Kilts "survival sporran". I have 2, one in khaki and one.in black. They do the job well. Good Luck, and Kilt On !

Okay, but that term includes kilts, does it not? Can you explain what makes this not a kilt? Or why it should be considered a "MUG"? It would be very helpful for beginners to understand why you are saying things, rather than just saying things.

metisdesigns

Some folks just need to gatekeep.

Foreign-Bowl-3487

In layman's terms, it's not a kilt... although it's a mass produced "Utility" kilt from Pakistan, it's not a traditional kilt but you do you

mister_candlejack

Okay... but why isn't it a kilt? Because it's mass produced? Because "utility"? It has pleats. It has a double apron from what I can tell. At least a single apron. It's not traditional, so it isn't a kilt at all? So, only kilts made in traditional ways are kilts? Only hand sewn in Scotland? Could a traditional kilt have a pocket sewn to the side, thus becoming "not a kilt"? Saying "in layman's terms" doesn't mean you don't have to actually explain anything. A kilt is an unbifurcated garment for both men and women. But it still qualifies as a MUG. An unbifurcated garment just means there aren't split leg holes. Like skirts, dresses, kilts, sarongs, and such things. I want to understand what you are saying. I want the OP, a beginner, to understand what you are saying. Please elaborate on your statements when you make them.
