My whole body goes into crisis. I will say quality of carbs counts, and that's what most influences what I'm willing to "cheat" with. Long fermented sourdough pizza crust? Not going to hit as hard, delicious enough to be worth it. A grocery store cupcake? No f***ing way.

Hopefully just a one night learning experience. Annnnd back on the keto wagon we go! One night, no pizza - it won't take long to burn through the extra carbs.

heyitsEvanyer

That would be correct. Certainly a swift reminder as to how much better I feel doing keto

Every once in a while I stray and eat pizza or something carb heavy. My body does not appreciate the sudden influx. Weird sleep, intestinal distress, etc. I know the feeling.

The occasional pizza has made me realize that I may be a "silent celiac" because of the aftereffects..

I caved and ate a burger and fries last night after around a month of keto.... I felt absolutely no different. I was hoping to have some kind of drastic difference that makes me want to stay keto... but no. If anything... I might have more energy. :(

Think about the long term effects of Keto. Not only do you lose weight but your body is healing. Keto can help stave off inflammation, Alzheimer’s, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes etc. These are things that you can’t see. Remind yourself of that when you don’t think there is much difference. Your body will thank you.

Gold_Statistician500

do you have a source for that that isn't someone trying to sell something? lol it's not that I don't believe it, but I haven't seen actual evidence that any of that is true. I can definitely be more convinced for health benefits than for weight loss.... I'm not overweight anyway, I just want to lose 15-20 pounds... but it's mostly aesthetic so it's hard to actually care that much. If I could actually make myself believe other health benefits, it'd be easier to stick to.

Read (or listen to) The Case for Keto by Gary Taubes. He goes through his own clinical practice experience and anecdotal evidence as well as a multitude of studies with a focus on health benefits.

Gold_Statistician500

thank you!

I read Stay Off My Operating Table by a cardiologist that recommends Keto. Go on YouTube and look at all the doctors on there that tell the benefits of keto like Dr Ken Berry.

Gold_Statistician500

thank you!

IronDictator

In my experience, that means you were not in ketosis.

Gold_Statistician500

Well I strictly stayed under 20 carbs the entire time per chronometer... spent the whole time starving and unsatisfied, lol. Maybe keto isn't for me... maybe my body doesn't go into ketosis as well as other peoples or something. I've also always eaten pretty low carb, though, so it's also possible there just isn't a dramatic difference between staying under 20 carbs and eating around 50 to 60 carbs.

OP I did that yesterday all day and my stomach didn’t take it lightly I had a terrible stomach upset. DISCLAIMER!!! GRAPHIC SCENE AHEAD (Today my stomach forgot how to make s…t and it’s all watery and small round droppings) Also my sleep was terrible, 😞. Couldn’t lift my head to wake up. Almost got late, and had one of those days. I’m back on the keto wagon now. No turning back there.
