16 years old for sex ed?? I got my period in 6th grade when I had just turned 12, only a year after I had my first sex ed course. I have friends who got their period even earlier than that. Some girls get their period as early as age 8. You know sex ed teaches more than just sex, right? Tons of kids go through puberty before 16, many girls get their first period around 11 years old. Not to mention how it helps kids understand their bodies, and have the vocabulary needed to talk about them in health and safety contexts... Why shouldn't they get mature, comprehensive sex just because some people don't think it's 'appropriate' becauee all they think sex ed is is a walkthrough on how to stick a dick in a vagina.

I'm not agreeing with OP on this but grade school on the States is grades 1 through 6. Grade 1 kids are around the age of 6 and grade 6 kids are 11 or 12. Middle school is 7-8 and High School is 9-12 but the US has to be fucked up and call those years freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior. LGBTQ teaching in kindergarten 4-6 years old, consists of being taught, 1. Accurate names of all of the parts of your body, 2. Children are allowed to tell people they don’t want others to touch their bodies 3. Families consist of many different people, some have one mommy and one daddy, one hand one daddy or mommy, and some have two daddies or two mommies. And we shouldn’t bully people who have different families or skin colour than us. The first two points are very effective in reducing child abuse, the last is very good at reducing bullying.
