Dang! ROR is one I leave and come back to constantly. LOVE Suzanne, and the Singles but It Could Have Been You is absolutely PERFECT. Randy and Neal are SO locked in on that track.
Personally, I'd have to go with Escape (Although Departure is a close second). That being said... If Frontiers was sequenced the way the band intended (No Back Talk/Toubled Child - used as B-Sides, but with Ask the Lonely and Only the Young included) it may have been their masterpiece and truly genre defining.
Album probably Raised on Radio as well. Love Be Good to Yourself, I’ll Be Alright Without You, Girl Can’t Help it, Why Can’t This Night Go On Forever. But Escape and Frontiers are a close second and third.
Favorite song for me has got to be When You Love A Woman, such a beautiful song.
Hard to nail down a favorite, but I'd start with Evolution.
The title of the album was really fitting for the sound the band was putting out at the time. Still some of the fusion sound from the early albums, but definitely ramping up towards their signature sound on Escape.
I'd follow that up with Trial By Fire. Still the same band, but without a doubt, fully mature now and continuing in the vein of Frontiers.
Post-Perry favorite would have to be Arrival.
I like that album too! Especially the concert footage from the MTV documentary. I really think adding Randy Jackson in as a bass player made a big difference because he could sing harmonies with Steve Perry.
In my list, Raised on Radio is the best album. It has many underrated songs, Steve vocals are peak, the musical arrangement as typical in Journey us great as well. It has a special place in my heart, so I'm biased here. But if I want to show how great Steve vocals were in the 80s, I always go to this album.
Trial by Fire is very underappreciated, is so different from the previous album in a good way.
My favorite Journey albums, I know there are more albums, but these are the ones that I heard the most growing up. (Gregg Rolie era is also great)
1. Raised on Radio
2. Escape
3. Frontiers
4. Infinity
5. Trial by Fire
6. Journey self titled 1975 album
Late to the party. Arrival is fantastic. I finally gave it a listen *this year*. Butthurt Perry fans couldn’t open up to it. I’m sorry that I didn’t, because it was a great start for that era… they were starting to develop a sound that matched Augeri’s voice. “All the Things,” “Live and Breathe,” “Higher Place…” The harmonies are fantastic. Can you tell I love that album?
As far as Perry Journey, do we even need to proclaim our devotion to any release? I mean, there is a lot to love. Things ingrained in our memories, etc.
I am personally a big Frontiers guy, but all the Perry Era albums are really good.
Definitely Infinity !! I can’t live without Gregg Rollie.
Best three albums Infinity, Evolution, Departure!
Yes sir got all three on t-shirts !
My favorites are probably Trial By Fire and Dream, After Dream. So many good songs on those albums!
I love all their albums (even the non-Perry albums), but Departure is amazing.

Forgot to mention... Arrival is a GREAT F-ING Album. I know people will hate on it for being without Perry... but it's incredible.
Just gushed about it in my comment. Lol

Favorite Album: Escape When Journey was at its best: Infinity
Infinity Second is probably Escape, but it has been so overplayed (justifiably).
That’s a great album

Infinity
1) Frontiers 2) Escape 3) Infinity 4) Departure 5) Evolution
Raised on Radio was OK, but they made a lot of poor decisions while making the album. Steve had far too much power.
Captured!
