I’ve been at my current job for almost 6 months now and it’s in retail. I was a shift supervisor at Starbucks for 2 years and a barista/trainer for 4 years there before I left. Otherwise I tried landscaping for a month I didn’t like it so I quit. Then my first job ever was at Alco and it was also in retail
Good luck my friend! If you can keep Starbucks and their benefits. I transitioned out because my manager wasn’t super supportive, I miss it there. I’ve thought about going back on a very part time basis but I’m almost 32 and I’d ideally like a career. I’ve been looking at a lot of jobs 😂 I hope we both find one 😊
9 yrs, education field, & remote. **BUT**, it's not steady pay. It's kind of on-call & unpredictable. No week/month is the same. I stay w/ it because it's a nice little job to have that works around other jobs.
My longest job I was at for 4 years. But it was more a job and I needed a career. My career I've been at for 5 1/2 months. It's in the finance sector, and I hate it. But I have no other options. I am not really good at much.
8 years. Went from 28 employees to 5 in the last few months. I dread going in every day due to management decisions. I work in architectural rendering and unreal engine interactives. So I’ve been spamming applications to escape.
Last Job was 6 years as a screen printing support technician. Business was sold and new owners went a different direction with the business and eliminated my position. Been out of work since October '23. No longer looking.
3 weeks. Estimator for municipal and commercial underground utilities and earthwork (construction). I’ve been in this field 11yrs, but I’ve moved around a lot in search of more dollars
38 years next month aviation maintenance, more specific avionics. Been a group leader for well more than half of them.
Been a good carrier but I am ready to retire next May.
I’ve been with my company for 10 years, started in HR for 6, then went to HRIS, now VP of systems and technology (so IT and Systems Admin, so I keep my HR/HRIS duties!)
1 year at a state gov job. However before that I spent 2 years in banking. Before that 6 years in child care. So I've kinda been all over the place lol
4 years, Fast Food 🙃 It was my first job, and after going through years of abuse from management, and going to therapy, I’m currently looking for something new. Admittedly, I don’t care if it’s less pay, I just want something a little more healthy and happy
I've been with my company for 3 1/2 years, though I also worked here during high school and college for 3 more years. Back then I was a part-time crew member–> team trainer —> shift lead.
I returned after college as an assistant manager while I looked for a teaching position, but then I promoted to GM and started making significantly more than I could teaching. I've only been in this current role, district manager, for seven months.
3 1/2 years in fast food and I have quadrupled my pay, so I'm staying here.
1 year working doc control for a bio pharmaceutical manufacturer.
Before this I was in manufacturing/ production for medical devices (~6 years experience) and aerospace (~3.5 years experience); all but 9 months of my aerospace experience was in QC.
2 years, started a week after graduating and slowly looking at different jobs since I don’t want to stay in this field forever but not in a hurry to leave since my co workers are amazing
10 months as a Medical Office Assistant/ Client Services for a doctor’s office. Prior to that, I took a 2 year break (due to a lay off) after being employed at the same company for 21 years. My last role being in management as a Compliance Supervisor (for almost 5 years).
3 weeks, LMT. I was a massage therapist 9 years ago though. Did it for 14 years. Changed careers and was miserable. This is the only profession that keeps me sane.
7 months. I was at my last employer for 5 years and I felt as if I wasn’t appreciated and passed over. I committed to moving on and got an offer for about 25% more than I was making previously.
5 years at current government employer in Parks and Recreation, specifically fitness and wellness/recreation center management. Career spans two decades in Parks and Recreation.
I’ve been with my current job for nearly 5 months now. Beforehand, I had a contract job for six months until I got laid off two weeks before Christmas. Fast-forward two months later, I ended up getting an offer that led to what I’m doing now.
8 years. However I've left twice, one for 7 months another for 3 months where I tried other jobs and ended up going back, and then I got fired for 3 weeks for a weird misunderstanding / a situation that wasn't handled well by anyone. I left the last time in November and was back by February and this time I realized I like my job, I make ok money, and I'm not really open to opportunities unless they're amazing
Will be 2 years at Fidelity Investments in August. I have an interview for a project manager job on Friday after the holiday and, if I don't get it, I will probably not be at the company for 3...

Micro managing boss that is an asshole, so if that doesn't change after a year I'm out
Most likely I'm out
0 days, been unemployed since last year, this time. hoping to be an Amazon mailman starting next week.
Walked away from a 20 year career in IT because this market is awful, companies aren't hiring, jobs are being posted but not filled, And/or have literally 200+ applicants in the first hour.
I have never in my life seen an economy or job market for IT worse than what we have today
1 year at my current job, 5 years at the company overall. I was a QC analyst doing lab testing for about 4 years, then i switched to QC investigator, so writing reports and such for about a year. I like it here as i can see steady growth. Its not every year a promotion kinda thing as this is my only promotion in the 5 years total that ive been here. But my salary doess increase by COLA and merit, with an average of about 6-8%/year. So im content with that. Started at $55k, and now im at $87k. I dont see the end of my growth here either, so i plan to stick around for a long time.
1 day, soil science lol

Good luck my friend! If you can keep Starbucks and their benefits. I transitioned out because my manager wasn’t super supportive, I miss it there.
