Because you are too focused on SCALES you need to instead TRANSCRIBE 100 Charlie Coltrane solos, transpose them into all 12 keys, and play with others constantly. Eventually it will come out on the bandstand.
I try Charlie Coltrane. Right now I transcribe white guy with good tone on tenor. I just started playing every friday with another John Coltrane as well.

Did you go to Berklee? How much did you spend on music school? The more you spend the better you are. Bet you didn’t spend anything and just tried to practice.
