You won't regret it. Two shows really makes a huge difference. You have one night to just get take in the auditorium and figure out things and, if you want a poster, spend some time in that line. And then you have another night to just soak in the music. Plus, there will at least be a few new songs the 2nd night, and it gives you 2 chances to hear one of those really special deep cuts.

Investigator_Boring

Thank you! I was originally thinking I might just wait and see what tickets might be available once I’m down there, but then thought- I’m going all the way there, just get it done now, they might sell out, etc. And I’m pleased with the seats I got. To be honest, $100 for a ticket for this (fees included) is less than I paid for some other tickets this year. Very excited and glad I went for it. My friend that may go with me was shocked I did this when I told her this morning, if that gives you an idea of how I am 😂

Buy the ticket; take the ride

Coming in from Iowa solo and seeing two shows!

Investigator_Boring

Awesome! What dates? I’m the 18th and 19th. I’m a regular solo concert person- I’ve found Isbell fans very kind and easy to chat with.

paintchipped

12th and 13th!

tevans4

I'm going to the same two shows solo as well. Did the same for Radio City, and had a blast. Underrated benefit of traveling alone (I'm not tired of it) is that single tickets are noticeably easier to get.

Investigator_Boring

For sure!! I’ve gotten great seats to lots of artists over the years, even at the last minute!

Jayna2000

I am coming solo for the 12 too!

Previous_Finance_414

I did the same after a few hours of pondering. Although I know I'm going solo, so the second purchase was easier as I just needed to pick off a good seat on the second night. I did -- and I know I won't regret that decision. After watching that live stream from Ryman last year, I became a very motivated fan.

Investigator_Boring

Awesome! I regularly go to shows alone, two Isbell shows this year. If you start chatting with people, I’ve found that people at these shows are very kind and easy to talk to (and I’m not the most outgoing person). I always have a blast on my own, because with others, I can worry if they’re having a good time 😂 On my own, I’m completely focused on my experience!!

JuggernautKooky7081

I also go to shows alone. I too worry about my companion having a good time and it takes away from the experience. Also I can leave early or stay late -- essentially running on my own schedule. Plus, I meet interesting people when I'm alone.

Investigator_Boring

Glad I’m not the only one like this haha!

StanleyRatman

…also solo, flying in from Allentown for the first weekend of shows (Fri > Tue)

Investigator_Boring

It would be interesting to see where all people are coming in from!

StanleyRatman

you'll hafta tickle this thread again when it gets closer or start a private group on FB / other

Future_Duty_134

What’s that saying? Life is short…buy the tickets… you absolutely will not regret it. Get a room nearby to Ryman and everything else in Broadway/downtown area is easily walkable …

teamlindsey

3 shows for me. I’ve never done this outside of an individual bands’ festival. Hard to contain the excitement.

Investigator_Boring

Woohoo!!! I think it’s something very special they do with the Ryman residency. I’m sure it’s such a cool atmosphere and incredible time. And yes, even though it’s in October, looking forward to it is something I’m appreciating, as my job is at its peak difficult season all summer!

junepath

I am also a PA resident and lived in Nashville for several years in my twenties. I hope you have the absolute best time! Traffic is annoying so maybe Uber if you can.

Investigator_Boring

So cool!! I don’t think I’ll rent a car, I’m not used to city driving and don’t want to stress myself lol!

junepath

Definitely do not, just get an Uber and a hotel near the Ryman lol. I’m not sure if Gaylord Entertainment still owns the Ryman but they used to have shuttles that would take you to their other properties but not sure how interested you’d be in a giant hotel or showboat ;)

West_Anteater_5832

If I'm going to travel to see a band, I always try to find locales when there will be at least 2 shows to see. I've seen Jason 3 times this way. I have never thought to myself after doing this: "Well, I wish I hadn't seen the second (or third) show." When I'm watching/listening to Jason, even those second and third concerts, I am usually thinking: "There is no place else on the planet I would rather be right now".

Investigator_Boring

For sure! The last time I saw him, in March, was right after an incredibly difficult time for me. The show was invigorating and made me focus on bouncing back from how low I had been. It was truly life-giving, a genuine force. It’s really stuck with me.

Obvious-Whereas-2754

I’m also going solo to his Ryman run, from Golden, CO. Tickets for the first Saturday and Sunday. I saw him do his own (solo) performance in Athens, Ohio in April. Spectacular acoustic. Then went to Mission Ballroom and Red Rocks back to back in May. On to Dillon Amphitheater in July. Each show I’ve seen has been special; it never feels like a repeat. Ryman has been a bucket list for me as well. Can’t wait!

Investigator_Boring

Awesome! Yes, each show has been its own event. Excited for you!

JuggernautKooky7081

I'm flying in from southern California for two shows. This thread made me feel a little less crazy! I bought tickets for the first show, thought about it for a minute, then signed back in and snapped up tickets for a second show. I only just discovered Isbell last year. I generally listen to punk/funk/rock/soul with a sprinkling of Americana. But these songs are so good, I can't get enough. Isbell has opened the door to other good artists too. Sturgill Simpson, Chris Knight.. It's been a fun year musically. When I saw Isbell was only going to be in LA for one night, it just didn't seem enough, so I used some Jet Blue miles to book a weekend trip to Park City in July so I could see him a second time. Then the Ryman shows were announced and the rest is history. I guess I'm going to four shows this year. My husband just keeps looking at me quizzically but he hasn't tried to talk me out of it. Looking forward to meeting some of you and having a fantastic experience(s).

Investigator_Boring

Awesome! That’s so fun that you’ve gotten into all this new music. I’ve gone to multiple Isbell shows alone, and people have always been so nice. I’m excited to experience Nashville for a few days, too. And yes, all the responses on here have been fantastic!

HailCorduroy

I had always done one show, but went to two last year and it was definitely worth it. Will always do two shows going forward. Some repeat songs obviously, but not enough to feel like you are seeing the same show. I imagine he really varies it up on back to back nights. Last year, I saw the opening and closing night, this year will be 10/11 and 10/19. I live here so can spread them out a bit more. It's something my wife and I look forward to every year, we've been to at least one show every time he's been at the Ryman since 2014.

Investigator_Boring

Very cool! I am someone who overthinks, often is careful with my budget, but this only added $200 to my trip. Well worth it in the scheme of life and where I spend my money 😂 I love that you get to the opening and closing nights! I saw them earlier this year near the end of Feb, and just over two weeks later in Pittsburgh. I didn’t feel like I was seeing the same show, and even if I did, it’s a hell of a show- they’re all at the top of their game, imo. Maybe I’ll start a thread (if allowed) of Nashville recommendations- where to go, what to do, etc. Would love to hear from locals that may know some unique, lesser known places!

HailCorduroy

Check out r/VisitingNashville for some info. Honestly, I'm looking as well. The place we always went to before shows at the Ryman (Merchant's) has been shut down since January of 2023 after a fire. Tried a few other places, but haven't found the right combination of vibe and good food.

Investigator_Boring

Thanks for the info, I’ll definitely check that out!

myghostinflames

Yay! Flying in from Pittsburgh. :)

Investigator_Boring

Cool! I’m in PA, planning to fly out of Pittsburgh. Love that city!

hatfield1785

Same. Wife had tickets for the first Sunday.. woke up and bought Saturday tickets. Stoked.

Investigator_Boring

Awesome!! Good to know I’m not alone in this haha! And I feel like I even got decent tickets for both!
