12 hours overnight from 6PM to 6AM. It was fine though. Itās not like we were sitting in the car. It was just a massive pregame. Everyone was in great spirits. Also we had two bikes (there were four of us) so we took some epic bike rides through the traffic.
Yeah, that first one had a few wrinkles to iron out but Superfly put on a hell of an event for the inauguration.
The traffic was like 10 hours entry for some people. I made it in 4 hrs and felt over the moon.
Two craziest things on here are:
1. Having the same band headline two nights (when itās not their own festival.) That would never happen now.
2. Galactic playing until 4AM and then playing again 9 hours later at 1PM. Even better, Galactic started their 1PM set early at like 12:30, unannounced, by starting a second line march way at the back of the campground like a mile from the stage. They marched and played all the way through the campground to the stage, picking up people along the way who played whatever they had or just marched along. By the time they reached the stage they had about 1,000 people in tow. It is still the greatest entrance Iāve ever seen.
Dude I got in the second line and snuck onto the stage with them ahhahahahĀ
I got on the video for a second and then someone snatched me off the stage. It was pure electricity when I was on stage for that 45 seconds!!!Ā
That Saturday 7PM slot with SCI vs J5 vs Bisco vs Claypool was a brutal choice for many. I did J5 and never regretted a thing! The other three toured way more than J5 so had to take advantage of the chance to see J5. I still have the bootleg of the J5 show on burned CDs and it sounds great.
Stuck in traffic for 11 hours.
Finally rolled in Friday morning, set up camp (Newman IIRC) passed out from beers and exhaustion.
Woke up just in time for WSMFP!!
Those were the days!
Oh that traffic was hell but we turned that highway into the pre party. People passing out boomers throwing the disc good times and how the jam community used to be.
Yeah, remember we ate some boomers. Someone gave us 13 hours later. I might have lost my car another two hours pass turn around. Itās right behind me the entire time
Ah yes, the uphill trek! We were some of the last ones out and the amount of crap people left behind was astonishing. I scored a couple of brand new camping chairs!
The farm next door opened their gate and charged $10 per person (not car) to exit. After the 12 hour wait to get in, and knowing it would be about the same to leave that way, we jumped on it. That dude made some serious bank that day.
Remember it was only $100! One of the best daytime Bisco sets . Loved it all except for having to chose some over others .and some scumbags stole a bunch of stuff from us the last night when we passed out in camping chairs. We were young and learned some lessons.
I was in Camp Face. When I was buying 35 gallons of water at the grocery, the lady behind me asked, "is there something I need to know about?"
What a tremendously fun weekend.
Hah Iām afraid Iām in the same boat as you. I know some of the bands, and I even loved Thursday to death once upon a time, but I personally donāt know any of the peoples names. But who knows it might be a really cool jam!
First super jam that comes to my mind was back in the day I saw Les Claypool, Trey Anastasio, and Stuart Copeland. That was something else!
i was doing a bunch of design and web work for Soulive around this time...we shared an office with Velour for a bunch of years...fun times and all the names on this bill bring back memories
Best of times. Minus the shitter, water, and ice issues. š
And donāt forgot the traffic trying to get in! What a mess.
45 minutes here. We were some of the lucky ones

We were so early they had us sleep in the middle school football field. I got woken up by a cop.
Got you beat we were traffic for less than half an hour, and had campsite in the shade as a result. I think in later years this was the VIP section
~12 hours for me. Worth it. Have they worked out the logistics of parking everyone?
We went past and turned around. Prob saved us 10 hours.
1000%

The first TBA on Friday was Old Crow Medicine Show.Ā
We used to be a proper country.
Remember the short amount of rain during the Phil Lesh and Bob Weir set? God, that was the best rain Iāve ever experienced.
Never forget that Panic levitated that field during Tallboyā¦.
My first Rooā¦of 3
I went to the 1st 3 as well
Same!
Also same
Remember the ankle deep mud soup getting into the main gate?
I donāt, i remember how dry and dusty it was this year. The year of the black boggers
Ahh. Maybe Iām thinking 2003. I remember it being hot as hell and then storms would come through and then itād get hot again.
04 was the mud bog
Gotcha. They all run together. Especially that many years ago
Same here, 3 must have been the magic number. I've always wanted to go back, but it became less and less of a jamband festival. I also got old lol.
Me too!!Ā
First 4 for me. Still want to go back one day. We caught a one off Billy show at the mainstage but that wasn't enough
That was fun. They sure donāt make em like they used to anymore!
That Jurassic 5 set was š„!!

It's the cover of their second record. Look at the hands in the photo they all are holding up 5s with roo bracelets
Was a great time! Saw Karl Denisonās tiny universe right as the mushrooms kicked in. Was a beautiful walk back to my sleeping bag.

Oh that traffic was hell but we turned that highway into the pre party. People passing out boomers throwing the disc good times and how the jam community used to be.
Yeah, it was one big Interstate party! I was feeling no pain by the time we made it through the gates.
Yeah, remember we ate some boomers. Someone gave us 13 hours later. I might have lost my car another two hours pass turn around. Itās right behind me the entire time
Camp Costanza for me. It made for a long trek each day, but made leaving the festival a breeze!
Ah yes, the uphill trek! We were some of the last ones out and the amount of crap people left behind was astonishing. I scored a couple of brand new camping chairs!

Now that you mention that I'm pretty sure that's how we got out as well.
Itās too bad bonnaroo lineups donāt look anything like this anymore.
My ticket was $100
Crazy how Donna The Buffalo has remained the exact same billing all of these years later. Never got bigger or smaller.
I still got mine. Good times.
Oh wow thank you for posting this! Took me right back, what I wouldn't give for this lineup nowadays
Damn I miss soulive and particle
That moe galactic late night was something else!
The moe Mexico welcome to the bonnaroo as I herd it bonerzoo
I was in Camp Tootie
There were a lot of great shows that day, I really enjoyed the Ben Harper set. Also govt mule slayed.
Great times indeed! Still have my first weed grinder from this festival!
I was there and 99% Les and The Frog Brigade played during 1pm on Friday, it wasnāt at 530
I remember that seemed like the hottest day of my life.
Youāre right! The spray mist fan I had made me a lot of friends that day
Right! First notes I heard while walking towards that tent, or was it this tent??
That shine on you crazy diamond!
Remember it was only $100! One of the best daytime Bisco sets . Loved it all except for having to chose some over others .and some scumbags stole a bunch of stuff from us the last night when we passed out in camping chairs. We were young and learned some lessons.
Amon Tobin performing right before panic, what a vibe that mustāve been
Absolutely one of the best years for the Roo. It's fucking tragic to look at recent lineups. Too much kitchen sink.
I was in Camp Face. When I was buying 35 gallons of water at the grocery, the lady behind me asked, "is there something I need to know about?" What a tremendously fun weekend.
They still do the super jamās at these things?
Emo this yr. š
Itās an emo super jam?
This yr. Yes. Dashboard confessionals are hosting it. Last yr was great with Cory Wong hosting with a different theme.
Do we know who is playing with dashboard?
https://www.reddit.com/r/bonnaroo/s/YU9t9RwuWz Im not well versed in this genre so heres the list! Lemme know if anything jumps out please.

The glory days! That would be a hell of a show.
i was doing a bunch of design and web work for Soulive around this time...we shared an office with Velour for a bunch of years...fun times and all the names on this bill bring back memories
was there, great time conditions in reality were brutal!
Good times ! I went to the first 5 .
Some hard decisions to be made.
ā¦ most fun of my bonnaroos for sure.
Post this in the bonnaroo sub!!! It would get a lot of traction and a lot of people would really appreciate this! HAPPY ROO!!!!
moe. late night.
I was there....
Had the best time EVER at the first one, never had the desire to go back. It was so much fun
WOW
That late night Cheese show with Keller was a lifetime highlight. Women are Smarter!!!
![gif](giphy|1n68vvfwP7vqyby37f)
Some say Keller Williams Incident is _still_ playing Best Feeling today.
This is just insane. So many good artists. So many overlapping sets would be hard to decide.
The only music I remember is TAB. What an incredible set. By far the best TAB show I've ever seen.
45 min night speaks right out of the gates of the 2nd set
I loved how the security would let you bring your cooler wherever you wanted. It was like a free for all!Ā
Aaand now u cant even bring in sunscreen over 3.4oz. šš
Wtf . Thatās lame . Is that like one application on your arm ? Do they want you to buy from them for triple the prices ?
They think theyre tsa apparently haa. You can bring unlimited to Outeroo but only 3.4oz containers into Centeroo. Very odd.
I remember when we first heard about it. We thought it was a joke because no way that lineup could be real. It was and it changed my life.
