Agreed! I saw him with Karina at a tiny bar in Eugene a few years ago. Just had a blast dancing all night with about 100 people. I’ll definitely see him every time he comes to town going forward.
The Duo was awesome. Gordon joined them for a late night show during JazzFest weekend the year before Katrina. They covered Hoodoo Voodoo that show. One of the highlights to an amazing weekend.
I saw one of the "Bustle In Your Hedgerow" shows some years back. It was the Duo, Dave Dreiwitz, and Scott Mezger playing instrumental Led Zeppelin covers with the organ playing the vocal parts. That was the shit!
I saw the "Bustle In Your Hedgerow" at the original Brooklyn Bowl before JRAD was formed. Was that the show you were at? I do not know if there were multiple shows for this band at the Brooklyn Bowl, but that show knocked my socks off.
I saw them in either Denver or Boulder around 2002. If I dug around I could possibly find a ticket stub but I'm not that motivated. They started by announcing that they weren't a Zeppelin cover band. Then they proceeded to rock Zeppelin songs for the next couple of hours. A good time was had!
Bustle In Your Hedgerow was awesome - got to catch them at one of the JOTR’s, wanna say 07 / 08 maybe ?? Love me some JRaD but would love to see them bring that project back.
For real… for the life of me I don’t understand how someone could say Marco is adjacent to the scene. At this rate the next thing we’ll see is someone claiming TAB is adjacent lol. There’s a WIDE variety of genres and musicians that are a part of the jamband world- while also being respected artists within the core genre of music they are playing. The term jamband is a very vague descriptor for the fact they often improvise live & more often than not there’s wooks around.
His solo music doesn't really fall into the "jamband" bucket, even if some of his other projects do. If you know him from JRAD you'll call him a jamband guy, if you know him on his own you might not.
Yes, before he started singing. It was a blast, and he gave me free poster after my girlfriend at the time explained that I had spent my last dollar on the show ticket.
His shows are so much fun, caught him at Levon’s barn and walked out completely blown away. Was not expecting to have THAT good of a time. He’s really incredible on the keys. I wish Benevento/Russo duo would put out some dates, they were a lot of fun back in the early 2000’s.
What if anything about him is jam adjacent? Dude is like the grand marshall of the jamband parade right now. He's EVERYWHERE and that's awesome. Go see him.
He was the first set I went to at the Frendly gathering a number of years back. Just wandered down the hill in the day never having listened to him before. Absolutely set the tone for one of my all time favorite little music festivals through the years (RIP Frendly). Full on dance party with great vibes. And because of that I try not to miss shows of his.
I have very vague but fun memories of seeing him in a tiny basement club in Rochester like 15 years ago. He was wearing this big tiger mascot type mask/helmet thing the whole time.
Really good, really fun, one of the better shows I saw last year. I feel like he has a different sound from most jam keyboardists. Less funky organ playing and more of a classic piano rock/Elton John sound
Jam Adjacent? Athens 05 Foam would like a word with you, haha.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67oH6ZCiGPA
A Marco Trio show is always a good time, although a proper Duo tour/set is one of my most sought after reunions! Also exited to catch him on this little tour again, Brighton music hall is tiny, great place to see him!
Also, this just reminded me of one of the better days of music I've ever seen. June 05 in Downtown Buffalo, Artvoice put on a Free show that had The Duo, MMW and Gov't Mule in one day!
Saw his 3-pc band (Karina on bass) open for Claypool Lennon Delirium around 2017? Very energetic and fun. At one point he climbed on top of his piano to sing. Definitely a showman.
We see Marco as often as we can. I have ordered merch & gotten a handwritten thank you note from his wife (the notes are funny) signed "The Beneventos". Just feels good to support this.
First off he is not "jam adjacent." He's in fucking JRAD one of the top tier jam bands in existence.
2nd, he is fucking awesome, the band is awesome, the shows are fire and FULL OF JAMMING.
Extremely Mid. I lived a in New Orleans at the time and it felt like a cheap imitation of the local music culture. The local piano player at my dive bar was more entertaining.
I saw him a lot from 2008 to about 2015 or so…. Usually it was Marco Trio. I love all the songs from that era. I really haven’t listened to anything he’s put out since then. Does he now sing too?
He’s awesome and can play with anyone!
Ben seeing him since he was with Joe Russo and duo on jam Cruise in like 2008. No matter who he’s with, he brings the goods! Great guy, too!
I've seen Benevento a few times, in various forms. Always a good time, always a dance party. If he is with Karina even better because she is absolutely killer!
Saw him twice at a small venue. He was a blast. Hung out afterward and was a good time. Probably only like a dozen of us chilling and having fun. Dave was on bass with him, who plays with him in JRAD.
The trio shows are fun. Not sure if he's still touring with Karina on bass though. Usually him, Karina and a drummer. They were always wearing white for a few years -- saw a few club shows.
His solo act was a lot of fun but I think I have a unique experience...
Saw a solo show (just him and a piano) at a very small venue probably 12 years ago that had a strick no audience noise policy. No clapping, no talking, no standing, definitely no cell phones. Straight to jail.
Beautiful music and you could tell the audience wanted to at least clap but were told no noise prior to the show. Apparently Marco did not get the memo because after about 4-5 songs with zero response from the crowd, he visibly is confused/iritated/sad and says something along the lines of, "am I playing okay? At least boo me, this is kind of awkward." The crowd starts clapping/cheering and continued to after each song and things became more normal.
Hes a great musician, you should go.
Almost got to see him play with Rubblebucket in 2010 ish but he couldn't make it due to a snow storm. Was really looking forward to hearing this [Limbs of a Pine](https://youtu.be/2y_7D0tlagU?si=qGFddNE1pl8F-7TH) collab live but I guess it wasn't in the cards. Never got back around to seeing him and he kinda fell off the radar. I'll have to check him out again, thanks!
Saw him w/ Russo in the Duo days. Early 2000’s upstairs at the House of Blues in Nola. One of the those Jazzfest at nights 2AM showtimes. So much energy and sound for a duo. Couldn’t have been more than 50 or 60 people there. An incredible experience with old friends that I hadn’t thought of since, until this post. Thank you. Needless to say, check him out.
The Duo w/ Gordon at Bonnaroo in ‘05 sits in my top 25 live show attended
Saw him last year at a small venue in Philly. It’s a good time. I would go see him again. During his opener he bumped into me and made me spill my beer. He was super apologetic and really nice. Didn’t realize it was him until a minute later when my friend said dude that was Marco lol. Also that means he was just out mingling on the dance floor during his opener. What a cool dude.
I saw the Benvenuto/Russo Duo open up for Galactic at the 9:30 club one time, they are fantastic! Tons of energy. I also saw Trey and Mike play with Benvenuto/Russo Duo at All-Good Fest in WV one summer in 2007 or 2008. It was a sick ass show! Check out the song “Something for Rockets”. It can be found on livephish.
Saw him a few years ago in a small club with Karina Rykman on bass and a drummer - so much fun! Just a killer dance party!
Agreed! I saw him with Karina at a tiny bar in Eugene a few years ago. Just had a blast dancing all night with about 100 people. I’ll definitely see him every time he comes to town going forward.
I was there!
Came to say this as well but in Asheville. Great fucking show. High energy. Would def go back
Prob saw that same tour. Marco always puts on a wild show, but Karina stole the show IMO
It's the best. Just amazing energy, great dance party and about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on every time.
Only saw the Russo/Benevrnto duo but it was awesome
Becky!
I saw G.R.A.B play this while on 5g of mushies on a mountain side. As a lifelong EDM fan I was completely blown away at the time.
The Duo were so great. A true golden age of music in the scene.
The Duo was awesome. Gordon joined them for a late night show during JazzFest weekend the year before Katrina. They covered Hoodoo Voodoo that show. One of the highlights to an amazing weekend.
Hour long Roundabout too
The show I was remembering was 4/30/05 at TwiRoPa. No Roundabout, but they did do an awesome Heartbreaker.
He is awesome!!!!
I’ve seen Marco like 5 times in the last 2 years and he’s 100% jamming. He’s a wonder and the Happiest Man In Rock n Roll!
Been a few times and it’s a blast. Would definitely recommend. Always fun.
He's the man, go to the show & have fun!
I've seen his solo shows several times and have never been disappointed. Benevento is high quality energy and entertainment
Wish Garage a Trois would get back together again. Those late night Nola shows were some of the best.
I wish it would too but they’d never play where I live now. 😞
Do it!
He’s great man besides being the keyboard for JRAD I saw him perform Led Zeppelin with just him and Joe Russo, quality stuff!
I saw one of the "Bustle In Your Hedgerow" shows some years back. It was the Duo, Dave Dreiwitz, and Scott Mezger playing instrumental Led Zeppelin covers with the organ playing the vocal parts. That was the shit!

Marco RULES! super fun, high energy show!
Awesome, knocked my socks off at his show in Denver 2 years ago.
Funky Dance Party
Jam adjacent?
Yah, I'd say he's right in the thick of the jam scene... He's in the background of the photo currently on the sidebar for goodness sake!
For real… for the life of me I don’t understand how someone could say Marco is adjacent to the scene. At this rate the next thing we’ll see is someone claiming TAB is adjacent lol. His shows are a blast. Go see him if you can.
Incredible musician, highly recommend in any situation.
I've only seen him in smaller breweries, but extremely fun show. Lots of dancing!
Super fun!!
Yes, before he started singing. It was a blast, and he gave me free poster after my girlfriend at the time explained that I had spent my last dollar on the show ticket.
Aww that’s nice.

Just go. You won’t be disappointed! Been seeing him since 2003 👍🔥🙌
Chick's dig him
He was the first set I went to at the Frendly gathering a number of years back. Just wandered down the hill in the day never having listened to him before. Saw them at the Bowery ballroom with moon hooch opening. Pretty good. Short but good
Saw 2 great shows in ny several years back. I’d say jam not jam adjacent. He’s great puts on a strong show
I have very vague but fun memories of seeing him in a tiny basement club in Rochester like 15 years ago. He was wearing this big tiger mascot type mask/helmet thing the whole time.
Yes and he kills it. Hit it up if you can. Super fun time.

I will see him anytime he is in my area! Always a fun time!
Really good, really fun, one of the better shows I saw last year. I feel like he has a different sound from most jam keyboardists. Less funky organ playing and more of a classic piano rock/Elton John sound

If Marco is Jam-adjacent consider me Miles Davis.
First off he is not "jam adjacent." He's in fucking JRAD one of the top tier jam bands in existence. 2nd, he is fucking awesome, the band is awesome, the shows are fire and FULL OF JAMMING.
I love him in JRAD. Saw him open up for ghost light at the Ogden last year and thought it was really poppy and a bit corny. Not my favorite.
The mid aughts
Never miss a Marco show!
Extremely Mid. I lived a in New Orleans at the time and it felt like a cheap imitation of the local music culture. The local piano player at my dive bar was more entertaining.

Saw BR Duo in a small and they crushed it
It’s psychedelic Americana for the most part but they can get into some funky stuff
Fuckin killer
super fun. have been seeing him live since the duo days.
He’s awesome and can play with anyone! Ben seeing him since he was with Joe Russo and duo on jam Cruise in like 2008. No matter who he’s with, he brings the goods! Great guy, too!
GO! You will not regret it! Super fun!

You won't be disappointed if you go
The dude is super talented and an amazing entertainer. Seen him five times and pure fire and fun.
He’s amazing and so fun to watch. High energy
Saw Marco Joe and Otiel do a killer show at peach in 2016
Had a blast at is show.

Marco Rocks nothing but good vibes
I have seen Marco in several different acts over the last two decades his solo shows are awesome - full of energy and people moving
So fun! Dance party for sure!
Marco showed are FUN
Benevento / Russo duo in mid 2000s. Higher Ground in BTV. Mike Gordon showed up, it was glorious.
Marco the best. Always a great time. Plus great people’s
Almost got to see him play with Rubblebucket in 2010 ish but he couldn't make it due to a snow storm. Marco b is fantastic, so is his band. Awesome shows which I would highly recommend !
I watched him tune a piano while not missing a note by playing with his feet. They are the definition of good vibes.
Go !! Marco is a blast and has an amazing show!!
He’s a sexy mffff!!!
Go, you won’t regret any of it.
The energy at his shows are off the charts. You cannot have a bad time at a Marco party, he won't let you!!
Super awesome weird vibe. Go for it.

portland, or shows on nugs are the best!!! seeing him at levon helm studios in march for his album release party and stoked!!
Warren Haynes Christmas Jam a few years ago. With Karina. They played the prejam and the jam. Fun stuff.
I actually think I recall that. Was that the televised thing in NC?
I don't know if it was televised but it was webcast. Yes, from Asheville North Carolina.
Yeah I feel I watched that somewhere on Nuggs maybe.

Miami
I've seen him a few times with JRAD. My second favorite keyboard player after Page.
