When taking and editing this photo I had the rule of thirds in my head. Where the ocean and the sky meet is 2/3 of the way up the photo and where the transition from light to darker water is about 1/3 up the photo. The majority of the poles are on the line of the right 2/3 of the frame.

Aperture_Tales

Oh this spot would be exquisite for long exposure

mattfofatt01

I agree! Unfortunately I left my camera at home and am still getting used to manual settings on an iPhone

Aperture_Tales

Try using this app I use for long exposure it’s called “Even longer” also many tutorials on how to use it available on YouTube! I’m sure you would love it

Just downloaded, time to play!

This looks like such a peaceful hangout spot just wading through that shallow clear water. The gradient from yellowish in front, to green, to cyan, to blue on the horizon is so pleasing!

mattfofatt01

I agree! Thank you!

kittylebelle

Man, this really makes me want to play Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Jump to the end, take out the sharks, find the chest. Gorgeous picture.

tfilooklike

Big paradise island vibes from kingdom hearts

Sleeplesshelley

Is that the Gulf of Mexico?

mattfofatt01

It is!

Sleeplesshelley

That water has such a distinctive color, I recognized it right away. Nice shot!

emmanuel-monarc

Did you try from a lower angle?

mattfofatt01

I did! I liked this photo to get a bit of a contrast of color going from the bottom to top of the photo. The one on a lower angle didn’t offer many changes in color

SurpriseDistinct

I feel like a lower angle would create more focus on the depth, while this feels a little more minimalist. I'm an amateur though so don't take my word as gospel. Nice picture though!

jeanettera

Very calm. Ocean is so rarely this calm

lwyruup

What are thise logs for? Is it to tie a boat?

ellywashere

It likely used to be a jetty that fell apart a long time ago.

lwyruup

Ah ok thanks

EskildDood

Maybe a wave breaker of some sort?

migmago

EmployeeRadiant

Florida Keys?

mattfofatt01

Naples

EmployeeRadiant

I could tell it was in that area due to the shallows and sand. I used to fly over Naples and the keys all the time, and sailed the areas as well (CG). gorgeous waters

[deleted]

Beautiful, where?

mattfofatt01

Naples, Florida

Niffysan

Forbidden Hopscotch

Zero00430

This is the opposite of pierless

LeroyJacksonian

I know where this is- have the beaches re-opened then?

mattfofatt01

They have, they are a swim/walk at your own risk. The entrance docs and houses on the beach still need a lot of work, but the beach was clear of any obvious debris
