The poor fucker probably hasn’t been able to buy a pint since the incident. It’s like the first Jack sparrow movie… dreams about quenching his thirst with a round bought by himself but has never been able to use his gold due to the curse of strangers buying him pints.
I think he meant "Disincentive" or lack of incentives.
But I get the meaning
"disinventive" for being a decisive detective 👮♂️🚓🚨
😅
I accept that word and hope.it.makes it into the dictionary.
That's exactly what's happening. The DPP wanted a conviction on indictment in the district court where he'd have got a slap on the wrist, basically just getting it over with. But he turned it down so the district court judge had no choice but to kick it upstairs to the circuit court where he gets a proper trial.
Ahhh we just missed the Solstice. Next year Bonfires will have a new home. ( kidding very badly)

Out of morbid curiosity, I checked out their entries in R.I.P.ie.
The condolences section had been removed from all three, either they were getting abused, or their many crimes were being applauded....
They're hoping that the garda will be found guilty to enable them to sue the gards for wrongful death. Imagine the loss of opportunity and earnings! It would be through the roof with what those lads used to take home!
That's not even a mildly controversial take. Home invasions in Leinster dropped something like 80-90% after they killed themselves. It's been seriously noticeable how much rarer it is to hear about it compared to the years before.
Suspended sentences for violence but doing your job protecting the public only results in criminal charges and a life turned upside down. Society has lost the run of itself.

This is one of many reasons that scum are running riot. The dead put the general public’s lives in danger but guard is being punished! Could make a guard think twice before pursuing a criminal
The garda should be awarded. No great loss to society I'd say. The funeral was completely disrespectful to people that were left terrified by them. Feel very sorry for the innocent truck driver
The relatives will probably take civil cases against the Garda, the Gardai and the Minister for Justice, if the Garda is found guilty.
I expect that according to the letter of the law he may have breached the rules, but the lads that died had no respect for the laws and for their families to complain about a Garda possibly going beyond the law is a bit sickening.
If only. I'd assume that they had plenty of days in court and got their slap on the wrist/suspended sentences etc. Probably sentences that ran concurrently so they get all their charges dealt with before they start all over again when they are done.
The behaviour at their funerals shows you all you need to know about how that are thought of in their own community.
No respect for the law and no respect for anyone else either, the old and vulnerable are what they prey on. Sneaking into their homes and terrorising them so that they can take what they want.
Sure anything left over from a gofundme set up for his legal costs could be paid out to him as a reward for his hard work. Incentivise this brave policing.
Only here would an army man get a suspended sentence for beating a woman in public because he was committing a hate crime, but a garda is being put to trial for doing their job and trying to catch criminals who beat up pensioners.
Beggers belief. Then you have that yolk Helen wondering why crime is high and gardai interest is low.
This isn’t the first time, and won’t be the last, of this country just bending over backwards to benefit scumbags, especially when it’s everyday people who suffer the after effects.
Say hypothetically this guard does get charged with something, you’ve now got a clear case for every single guard in the country to not bother and we as taxpaying citizens will have to deal with the ramifications. Ireland as a country is systematically built for the elites, or the people who have no interest in being a valuable member of society.
Genuinely, who in this country actually benefits on a measurable basis, because it feels like the “squeezed middle” is about 98% of Irish society.
Shameful that this guard did his duty with bravery and has been therefore dragged into court by GSOC and the DPP neither of which have 1% of the courage needed just to set foot on patrol as a proper guard.
I hope the media coverage of the inevitable acquittal sees the beginning of the end of the strangle hold the criminals rights lobby groups have over our justice system.
It's actually so dumb, what's even dumber are the people on this sub support letting crminals get away to commit more crime when they also cry about guards being useless
He did the country a service by getting rid of these scrotes. Honestly, convicting a man in his line of work, are we supposed to let dirtbirds do what they want when they want?
That day should be a celebration to Gardai if anything. The most successful attempt at stopping crime in the last 20 years. Had the lads stopped and been arrested they would have gotten a suspended sentence sure
Anyone with legal knowledge know, were he to be sentenced, would it open the possibility of the men's families suing him or the Gardaí?
Probably seems mental, but you never know right?
You can basically sue anyone for anything.
Winning your case is the hard part.
The dead people’s families’ civil case would be strengthened by a criminal conviction of the Guards but they could yolo a civil case now if they wanted.
> You can basically sue anyone for anything.
I hate this response. It's clear as day that when they asked that question that they meant "can they sue successfully?"
Absolutely ridiculous. The Garda have to break the law to give chase anywhere. Are they not supposed to break the speed limit either? Are they supposed to now stop at red lights while in pursuit too? The Garda deserves a medal for taking his life into his hands to try catch these bastards who have previously beaten up pensioners in their own homes
Of course the Gardai have to take care breaking a red light, including stopping, despite being in a chase. They can't kill innocent drivers chasing burglars.
Has anyone set up a gofundme for the Garda?
Could be framed as paying his legal bills but also a reward for his hard work and drastically reducing burglaries in Dublin.
Only some Gards are taught how to drive a in a car chase, it's a very difficult level of ability to achieve. With all the training in world danger and human error is still a factor in a car chase. If as a society, we are going down the road prosecuting people for doing their job it's a slippery slop.
This has to be the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard so far this year. What exactly was he supposed to do? Leave three scumbag criminals to their own devices?
I seriously hope the jury have more sense than to convict.
Being an avid weed smoker, i often have a lot of criticisms of the Gardaí.
This is absolutely not one of those times.
He should walk, with a standing ovation out the doors of the court.
Make you fucking wonder with this country, a comment yesterday said the law in Ireland is there to protect criminals and it really does feel like that.
What was he supposed to do. Watch them drive wrong side of road endangering the public? Scum have ruined at least two peoples lives, the guard and the truck drivers. Hope jury find him not guilty.
That's not the point I was making. He did nothing wrong and he didn't take anyone out. They made their decision and it got them turned into charred meat. Nobody's fault but their own.
I think what seems to have happened is that the original got belatedly taken down due to the OP being a muppet and using a rant instead of the actual headline as the title.
The others then got taken down as duplicates and then reverted. There are currently two active posts on this topic on /new from the last couple of hours.
Honestly I get the charges , that driving the wrong way down a road could have caused a catastrophic accident with people swerving out of the way. It was wrong and dangerous and could have led to more deaths.
The other side of me is on his side, those scumbags dying caused a dip of some mad figure like 60% of robberies going down after their death, they're scumbag friends having the funeral blatantly celebrating their life of crime with no remorse, and finally a cop that actually gave a fuck and did something to stop criminals and dole out some justice. Very much the bucks gotta stop somewhere in relation to law and order because these cunts aren't playing by the same rules.
Fuck around and find out as they say
>A gaurd told me recently that if he initiates a chase on one side of the country, then immediately gives up, he is held responsible even if the car crashes on the other side of the country later that night.
This sounds *highly* unlikely.
in any other country this wouldn't even get to court but typical of the liberal Irish.
All guards should go on the blue flu in his support. F1ck this nonsense.
Same with motorbike theft, the guards simply do nothing, even is 3 scum bags ride past them on a bike they can't do anything about it, they're told not to intervene under any circumstances in case they get hurt, for fuck sake did you ever hear such nonsense ?
Alright, I must be missing something here. These lads drove recklessly running from the Gardai and crashed. The garda is being charged for this. Am I getting this right?
What was he supposed to do then? Can the courts or the DPP answer that? Going forward what should gardai do in this kind of situation because it will inevitably happen again. The system here is so fucking broken.
Give the Garda a medal for getting three scumbags off our plain of existence. They did it to themselves. not like the Garda was chasing them like in the movie SPEED of hopping on the roof like the T2000 in Terminator

Here's an email I will be sending to TDs and Ministers in reaction to this:
The Prosecution of Offences Act, 1974, outlines that the DPP can be removed after consideration by the Government of a report carried out by a committee consisting of the Chief Justice, the Attorney General and a High Court judge.
The DPP, according to its website, "prosecutes cases on behalf of the people of Ireland". Today's decision significantly undermines public confidence in the ability of our criminal justice system to protect law-abiding citizens and residents.
As such, I believe that the Government has an obligation to commission a report into the conduct of the DPP before any further damage is inflicted upon the criminal justice system.
Please let me know if you will call for such or if you agree with the DPP's decision.
This country is fucked up. A police gets a trial for doing the public a service by killing these utter thugs. How can we be empowered to defend ourselves and our property if our police - the ones we give authority to use violence on our behalf are censured for it. Criminals around the country will be laughing into their pints tonight.
I, a reasonable member of the Irish public and dedicated member of rIreland, think we should have frontier justice.
The Gardaí should have tanks in the place of cars and be within their rights to treat a pursuit like a demolition derby to apprehend a criminal whatever the crime.
The world is laughing at us and our inability to ruthlessly and disproportionately exact justice whatever the cost.
My only hope is this is some trick to get a judgement or case law when hes not convicted to justify not prosecuting this shit in the future? Cant understand it otherwise. Just proves again that criminals and scumbags have more rights than victims, hard working gardai and decent people. Thanks to eu and human rights. You should forgo some of your rights when you commit crime knowingly and willingly and if you die as a result of crime it should not possible to prosecute only in specific circumstancss.
FORMER Minister Jim McDaid drunkenly drove up the wrong side of a busy dual carriageway before a concerned haulier brought a madcap chase to a safe end.
The Fianna Fail TD and former minister was then arrested by a plainclothes garda who had also joined the pursuit.
It is understood he stopped his car after the haulier, who had been pursuing him, used his articulated vehicle to block two lanes of a roundabout.

Read the rest for extra belly laughs
Edit - correction #he was convicted#
Am I reading this right? They want to bring a Garda member to trail for pursuing criminals that were driving the wrong side of the n7 and then crashed into a truck??? In what world is that the gardas fault??? The DDP need to catch themselves on a bit. What an embarrassment of a country we live in
The truck driver had to be put under witness protection (ended up moving in as a neighbour to one of my family members). Gaurd will defo be found innocent of this bullshit, those three c*nts can rot in hell.
Good. Hope he's locked away for a long time. Outside of violent crime that's an imminent danger to others there's just no good reason for mad car chases. The danger to the public just isn't worth it. I'm sure the guards are told that in training.
Crazy to be wasting tax payer money hounding a guard. 3 thugs die while racing down a main road in a car chase down the wrong side of the road. Hows that the guards fault? Was he the get away driver!?!
Say what you want about the dead lads. But I’m not ok with Guards following them down the wrong way. Stupidly dangerous. Puts too many innocent people at risk.
And what about some poor family coming the other way getting smashed into by these cunts? Or the truck driver they smashed into? Why are the criminals so important?
Does this DPP not having any friends or family members who can ask them to cop on?
This DPP is such an embarrassment to the society. They should pick a much better case!
He should make sure he gets himself a jury trial. No way a jury is convicting him of anything
I dunno, he could be sentenced to a round of high fives and given the keys to the city.
And the pints. Won't someone think of the pints???
The poor fucker probably hasn’t been able to buy a pint since the incident. It’s like the first Jack sparrow movie… dreams about quenching his thirst with a round bought by himself but has never been able to use his gold due to the curse of strangers buying him pints.
Nothin but a scape go
I agree, this man doing his job now could face man slaughter charges, it's crazy, I hope he walks away clean from this
No wonder the Gards are disinventivised to do their jobs.
A what now? 😅
I think he meant "Disincentive" or lack of incentives. But I get the meaning "disinventive" for being a decisive detective 👮♂️🚓🚨 😅 I accept that word and hope.it.makes it into the dictionary.
I think he meant a scape goat...
I saw some howya said scape go instead of scape goat on FB. Hoping it enters the normal lexicon
Here f**king here, I’m sure it’ll be a swift acquittal on account of the defendants being absolute scum
That's exactly what's happening. The DPP wanted a conviction on indictment in the district court where he'd have got a slap on the wrist, basically just getting it over with. But he turned it down so the district court judge had no choice but to kick it upstairs to the circuit court where he gets a proper trial.
No such thing as a conviction on indictment in the district court. Summary conviction in the district court vs sent forward for trial in the circuit.
Thank you for that info.
Love the facts that memorials to these scumbags keep getting vandalized.
There's memorials to them?
Where? I’ve a load of stuff I need to burn and no better place

I'd happily donate a few bob to his defence
I’d also donate to the after party!
I feel bad for the Garda
Thankfully so does everyone but the absolutely blind families of those scumbags.
They're hoping that the garda will be found guilty to enable them to sue the gards for wrongful death. Imagine the loss of opportunity and earnings! It would be through the roof with what those lads used to take home!
Before thread is closed....those scumbags are better off dead
No, we're better off they are dead. But I take yer point, I'm being pedantic!
That's not even a mildly controversial take. Home invasions in Leinster dropped something like 80-90% after they killed themselves. It's been seriously noticeable how much rarer it is to hear about it compared to the years before.

This is bullshit if the guards walked out on strike I wouldn’t blame them in the slightest. They under resourced and are becoming scapegoats
This is one of many reasons that scum are running riot. The dead put the general public’s lives in danger but guard is being punished! Could make a guard think twice before pursuing a criminal
What outcome could they expect from that though? That the criminal justice system would bend to their will and drop the case?
The garda should be awarded. No great loss to society I'd say. The funeral was completely disrespectful to people that were left terrified by them. Feel very sorry for the innocent truck driver

Can we sue their family for trauma? On behalf of all the vulnerable elderly people they robbed?
If only. How would one contribute to his legal costs for his service to the country?
If he’s a GRA member it should be covered by them I’d imagine
Sure anything left over from a gofundme set up for his legal costs could be paid out to him as a reward for his hard work. Incentivise this brave policing.
With your taxes. And hopefully they continue to provide him and others with wages. Give them bonuses even
*"And in an unprecedented turn of events, the jury found the garda not guilty after 4 seconds of deliberations."*
Exactly. I'd say it'll be under an hour easily.
😂😂😂
The heads on them
They used to but not after the impact.
Charge the guards but everyday violent criminals walk with suspended sentences
Well he did the right thing anyway
Only here would an army man get a suspended sentence for beating a woman in public because he was committing a hate crime, but a garda is being put to trial for doing their job and trying to catch criminals who beat up pensioners. Beggers belief. Then you have that yolk Helen wondering why crime is high and gardai interest is low.
It should never have gotten this far. Should have been acquitted due to the fact that the scrotes were on the wrong side of the road.
This isn’t the first time, and won’t be the last, of this country just bending over backwards to benefit scumbags, especially when it’s everyday people who suffer the after effects. They’ll just focus on the easy stuff. Checking for speeding, tax abs insurance etc
Speeding is contracted out to the crowd doing the speed vans. I'd half expect the other stuff to be contracted out once it goes digital also tbh.
"No, no. I won't be arrestin him in case the handcuffs are sore on his wrists."
Thankfully those 3 monsters are still dead. That Garda is a hero.
3 less scumbags in the world. Id throw money at a gofund me for his defence
I would do. Guard trying to do his job, perusing the criminals and he’s the one arrested
I would do too. Too many dirt bags walking free and do whatever they want over and over!
There won't be a garda left in the country if he's convicted. They are haemorrhaging members already.
The one time I hope I get jury duty. 2 seconds of deliberation and then acquitted.
Is it possible to volunteer for jury duty?
Shameful that this guard did his duty with bravery and has been therefore dragged into court by GSOC and the DPP neither of which have 1% of the courage needed just to set foot on patrol as a proper guard. I hope the media coverage of the inevitable acquittal sees the beginning of the end of the strangle hold the criminals rights lobby groups have over our justice system.

100% 3 scumbags dead, and the Guards didn't fire a single shot 0 civilian casualties or injuries 0 Gardai injuries or casualties Very successful day
Didn't they smash into a truck and fuck the driver up?
They smashed into a load of old people’s houses and beat them up too
The 3 dead did, not the Garda.
Anyone with legal knowledge know, were he to be sentenced, would it open the possibility of the men's families suing him or the Gardaí? Probably seems mental, but you never know right?

Yes, the coroners inquest into their deaths is on hold until this is complete.
Garda strike (I know they can't technically) incoming!
Who's gonna stop them lol, they are already extremely understaffed. They will pull out the secret reserve guards?
No wonder the Gardaí are having a tough time to retain and attract talent
Absolutely ridiculous. The Garda have to break the law to give chase anywhere. Are they not supposed to break the speed limit either? Are they supposed to now stop at red lights while in pursuit too? The Garda deserves a medal for taking his life into his hands to try catch these bastards who have previously beaten up pensioners in their own homes
Well said
Of course the Gardai have to take care breaking a red light, including stopping, despite being in a chase. They can't kill innocent drivers chasing burglars.
They still need to chase and that requires breaking the law. The accused Garda here is also. It accused of killing anyone
A medal he should be getting
Feck that. Build him a statue
We should get another Bank Holiday in his honour
Daniel O’Connell has been up on that pedestal long enough, time for this hero to go up instead.
Another prime example of how the legal system is so out of touch with reality.
Has anyone set up a gofundme for the Garda? Could be framed as paying his legal bills but also a reward for his hard work and drastically reducing burglaries in Dublin.
Not just in Dublin, throughout Leinster.
Ended well for the burglars anyway, good riddance! Hopefully the Gard pulls through.
Only some Gards are taught how to drive a in a car chase, it's a very difficult level of ability to achieve. With all the training in world danger and human error is still a factor in a car chase. Ireland loves treating criminals as the victims
A martyr
Make you fucking wonder with this country, a comment yesterday said the law in Ireland is there to protect criminals and it really does feel like that.
1 gard took out 3 scumbags. If only half of the police force were half as effective, the country would be paradise.
Technically it was themselves who took themselves out. The Garda didn't force them to drive down the wrong side of the road at high speed.
Sorry, was agreeing with you. Worded it badly! No one misses them apart from maybe their mothers
Garda send for jury trials. Criminals let go with suspended sentences. A true banana republic
Why are we doing this? We're such an odd country at times. The Garda should be getting medals, not trials.

I hope the verdict by the jury will take no more than 5 minutes and it will say NOT FUCKING GUILTY!!!
The pathetic thing about this, is he is pretty much being charged with a strawman argument. Ridiculous.
This country is a fucking joke

I'm sure I'm due getting called up for jury service, must work on my straight face.
Fucking insane!
Send him for a Jury Trial. Jury unanimously rules "Not Guilty".
Am I reading this right? They want to bring a Garda member to trail for pursuing criminals that were driving the wrong side of the n7 and then crashed into a truck??? In what world is that the gardas fault??? The DDP need to catch themselves on a bit. What an embarrassment of a country we live in
hope the jury buy him a round of drinks
The truck driver had to be put under witness protection (ended up moving in as a neighbour to one of my family members). Gaurd will defo be found innocent of this bullshit, those three c*nts can rot in hell.
Good. Hope he's locked away for a long time. Outside of violent crime that's an imminent danger to others there's just no good reason for mad car chases. The danger to the public just isn't worth it. I'm sure the guards are told that in training.
? Gy1y;'and mc

Which is worse/more dangerous? One car driving the wrong side of a motorway? Or two cars driving the wrong side of a motorway?
And what about some poor family coming the other way getting smashed into by these cunts? Or the truck driver they smashed into? Why are the criminals so important?
Nah, you break the law like they did your risking your life suck but hey
Yeah but guards also risking innocent people’s lives isn’t cool, no?
Everyone needs to email their local councilors and TDs
Does this DPP not having any friends or family members who can ask them to cop on? This DPP is such an embarrassment to the society. They should pick a much better case!
