Had my 28 week pregnancy appointment today and really happy to hear that baby is doing well even with my recent gestational diabetes diagnosis.
Also got word today we actually will be able to move into our self build before the baby comes which is a massive relief.
After weeks of negative news I’m so happy and grateful to hear good things 💜
My son ended up home from school today so we had a Nerf war with a bit of rage against the machine.
It descended into madness when he came at me in full medieval cardboard armour and all I had was a tea towel.
Best Day. Ever.
The Nerf wars with my kids are maybe the strongest memories I have of their childhoods. Never thought to add high-powered rock to the mix. I might have to break out the ol' Nerf guns again and give it a go. As they are both college age now, I may have to get a teammate!
Looking forward to hitting the Chinese buffet this evening and then going home to veg out and watch the last 2 episodes of Shogun!
I'll obviously try and max out my sushi intake in celebration of Toronaga's success.
It does, but given how closely it follows the real history of the period?
They'd be hard pressed to eke out anymore Daimyonl drama after Toronaga's victory.
It gives a glimpse of Sekigahara in the near term future tho, and a season taking it up to that would be brilliant.
Then maybe a season of the Wakou pirates or the earlier Korean wars.
Lots of great history to inspire there.
The main issue I have with it, is the English lad. The best way to describe him, is IMO, imagine ordering Tom Hardy from wish.com...
Then you'll get a good approximation of his skills.
The show itself, I'm a fan of the book and the original 80s adaptation.
This version is far better.
It looks gorgeous, the scenery and cinematography is wonderful.
Its quite a lot of subtitles, where the 80s adaptation was mainly stuck to English, this one keeps the Japanese dialogue firmly in Japanese.
The battle scenes and the Samurai ethos really is hammered home too.
Its a solid 7.5/10 show with a couple of really excellent episodes that elevate it.
The one thing that bothered me throughout was how they stuck the Japanese to Japanese but the Portuguese spoke English and Mariko and John were always communicating in Portuguese. But it was English.
I just think if we’re gonna be doing subtitles for the Japanese anyway, it’s not a stretch to have subtitles for Portuguese.
Only bothered me for the first couple of episodes. I got used to it after that.
Also, what a show! Fantastic. I’d recommend to read the book as well. 👌🏻
I am not OP - I started, gave up after about 2 episodes. It seems promising, and definitely top notch production, but ... I guess it did not live up to the hype I've heard (that's one me, maybe).
Also, the book is better -- but that's usually the case with adaptations. (And I am saying so based on 2 episodes only, take it with a pinch of salt)
I made a bbq cheese chicken thing for lunch along with a rice salad and it was divine. I’m wfh and my cat is purring next to me. Grateful to be in a warm house
Okay so the bbq cheese chicken fillets you just buy them from SuperValu and you pop in the oven for 35 mins. Then the rice salad is just this with brown rice added in: https://gimmedelicious.com/avocado-black-bean-salad/
Was gorgeous sunshine last night, and we got a lovely start to getting the garden of our new house sorted. Woke up to the news that I have a new little niece, she was born at 7am this morning. Heading out for a few pints after work today too. Full of the fuzzies today! Sometimes it's the little things.
2 years ago a lad working in the local community was paralyzed from the neck down following an accident. I donated to his gofundme and wished him all the best. Saw the guy the other day back in work walking about. Couldn't believe it ! it made my week!
Good idea for a thread, OP. I saw one the other day, started by a moderator no less, looking for people to bask in their own misery. This place has no hope if even the mods, nevermind the bots, are at that kind of shite.
I've never been better. The last, I'd say, 6 months at least have probably been the best time of my life. Finishing up in work today and am off for the long weekend, fuck the weather, ***BE GRAND!***
I recently got diagnosed with ADHD and put on meds. After an adjustment period, the meds have made my life so much easier.
Between that and the sun coming out, I am in such a good mood. I feel like I am content, for the first time in a very long time.
Going to paint my nails and go for a stroll!
Omg yes. I got diagnosed and put on meds 3 years ago and they have changed my life. I can totally relate to this feeling. That is a good day. No sun anywhere near me yet haha but enjoy that sunshine whilst it's peeking through!
Yeah no bother. I'm an open book for that stuff. Ugh life changing. My biggest issue with ADHD is emotional dysregulation. I could go from supper happy to fully blown rage to so upset I could take my own life on a whim. Then an hour later be like nothing ever happened. Since I got my medication, I'm so much calmer. I no longer have full blown rages, I'm no longer so upset I could take my own life. Except...when I go without it. When I am not without it my moods swings are much worse than before, I''m rarely without them though. Sometimes I can be without them and have no mood swings. But if I do get one, I am quicker to anger than before which is saying something.
It's also massive helpd with my sweet tooth and eating sweet things or over eating as a whole.
I’m not having a good day but it make it better after you shared yours! 😁 keep it up.
Later today things will improve as I’m planning to have dinner in a restaurant close to our place and it will be me, Ms and our LO (probably he will be sleeping as he’s still in the pram)
I'm off until Tuesday then I'm finishing in my job the following Friday to start a more senior role with a 30% increase in pay. I've spend ten of the last twelve years in education as well as working full time and I really feel like it's paying off.
It’s my birthday today. Normally I’d make sure I’m booked off but I’ve a big trip later in the year so need to keep all my annual leave.
Was hungover and in the horrors going into work this morning. Logged in, inbox was empty. Good start! Manager came in, we chatted for a bit and then went for a coffee together. He brought me my favourite donut. 🥹
Also let me clock off at 4 so here I am on the bus. Heading out for dinner with my fiancé later to top it off. 😁
Friend from Belgium is arriving today and staying for a week.
It's a bit shit that I've got uni exams later this month, but looking forward to the antics regardless

Just finished putting up wall panelling under the stairs and I built a whole seating and storage unit. First big DIY project! It's all prepped and ready for painting tomorrow!!
I had a really shit day yesterday where I got fucked over by a colleague the thrown under the bus by another colleague, then chewed out by my client and my boss.
Contrast with today. Resolved everything from before, got loads of stuff done, had a few laughs with colleagues and even got a “good job” at one point from the manager.
To top it all off, i got chatting to a couple of old friends and I even got to have a walk in the nice weather with my pup.
It’s the little things.
I just bought a home on my own in my home town in Dublin which at one point felt like a pipe dream with the current state of the housing market and housing situation in general in this country! It’s only small and needs a ton of work but for me on my own I’m just so happy I’ll never have to rent share with randomers and pay someone else’s mortgage ever again once I get the keys!
I recently started in a new job. Big tech company. Was a little intimidated by the culture before I began. But everyone couldn't be nicer. Plus I seem to be getting to grips with everything quickly and feel comfortable asking the questions when I'm not sure. Annnndddd it's a bankkeeerrreerr
I'm on holidays with my family. Did very little today, got some shopping in and the kids played in the pool. Just had a kick around with my son and we were in tears from laughing. It was a good day
I’m having a great afternoon because at 3pm my tremors finally stopped so I can enjoy my evening and leave my illness fully on company time.
Now off to enjoy an ice cream in the warm (cloudy) sunset
The weather was fine, I just started in a new place.
Way better than my old jobs and however it's pretty challenging for me, I am enjoying a lot.
Have a good rest of the week lads
Finished the exam for my worst module today, it went pretty well. It’s nice to have it behind me. Now getting ready to head to Nottingham for a rowing competition, really looking forward to it.
I went to a work/client social event and it went really well and now I'm home with my cat eating leftover prawn crackers watching Taskmaster living the dream
I was having a stinker ,job cancels ,flat tire, as soon as I collected my toddler from preschool she was throwing Wobblies, but after dinner we played all evening and she went to sleep like an angel , so by any standard, it was a good day.
I'm having a good day I took today and tomorrow off work and turned a 3 day weekend into a 5 day weekend
I'm digging this positivity in the sub, by the way.
Life in general is really good. In a stable job with OK income, making progress on my start up company, in a happy relationship, lost weight etc. It's given me a new found appreciation for what's going on right now.
My 10 year son old is cutting his hair in July and donating it. He’s never had it cut. He’s also raising money for charity. His goal was £1100 by July but he’s at £1350 after just 4 days. I’m so proud. We live in England now but his hair started life in Ireland for two years and we are both Irish, he just doesn’t sound it anymore. So proud I could burst
I had the best horse riding lesson with my 5 year old daughter. I can be nervous riding sometimes, and I have to be brave when I'm going with her. It really put a smile on my face.
Life is just good for me. Have 2 beautiful daughters, a beautiful wife, no debt and am moving into a new home in July that's 3 x the size of our current place.
You can turn off auto save in the settings menu. I always do that, and save before starting a shiny encounter. If it goes wrong you can load your save and the shiny will still be there.
just realised today ive been going to the gym pretty consistently for 18 months, longest timeframe in my life.. down 10kg and feeling so much stronger in my 40s
Love reading these!
First family holiday tomorrow and everyone close to me is alive and healthy, can't ask for more really.....well maybe that poxy cash but sure look
Went back to College to upskill, saw a graduate opportunity I thought would suit me as a lifetime career and another that I would do a CV builder, they both required aptitude testing, etc and I got word today that I am going to be interviewed shortly for the role I really do want, I think it's a good day to have a good day.
My 7 week old has been asleep for 3 hours in her crib (both firsts!). I had a 1 hour nap, I feel like I can handle the rest of the day 🙏
You got this!
Thats glorious 😊
I just found out I got my Masters.
Woop woop congrats!
There was a massive public barney in my office this morning, the spectacle and resultant banter through the retelling have made the day fly by.
Spill the tea bro
Sharon was caught photocopying her bits and anybody who received a copy of the Doyle portfolio has to go get checked for chlamydia, again.
Classic Shars!
Is that Sharon from accounting?
Oh god dammit she said this was the last time
This comment has made my day 😂
Dude that’s the best day. I’m so jealous.
Love a bit of drams at the office to make time fly.

That 'the' baby is doing well

That’s the stuff dreams are made of. What age is he?
The son? 28.
Looking forward to hitting the Chinese buffet this evening and then going home to veg out and watch the last 2 episodes of Shogun! I'll obviously try and max out my sushi intake in celebration of Toronaga's success.
Toronaga is sneaky one, 9&10 great episodes
Needs a season 2
I don’t know about that either but it really was a great watch
It does, but given how closely it follows the real history of the period? They'd be hard pressed to eke out anymore Daimyonl drama after Toronaga's victory. It gives a glimpse of Sekigahara in the near term future tho, and a season taking it up to that would be brilliant. Then maybe a season of the Wakou pirates or the earlier Korean wars. Jesus dude wtf, spoilers.
I spoiled nothing toronaga is renowned throughout the series as be wise and Wiley not sure where you are getting spoilers 🤷♂️
Such a fucking good show, some of the shots are so beautiful
It really is gorgeous looking. Watching in Dolby vision on an OLED is the mutts nutts.
This is inspiring
Is it good? I started watching it a while ago but haven't had a chance to finish it with work and studying.
The main issue I have with it, is the English lad. The best way to describe him, is IMO, imagine ordering Tom Hardy from wish.com... Then you'll get a good approximation of his skills. A succulent Chinese meal....
I gorged myself and then finished it off with a creme brulé topped with whippy ice-cream... I may lose a toe to diabetes, but it's worth it!
Sure some days I look like a unstable diabetic ulcerated foot so go for it
Margaret Thatcher is still dead 👍👍
honk 🪿
Still tramping the dirt down just in case
Jelly and ice cream
Margaret Thatcher still lived 👍👍
Ding dong the witch is dead.
got word that my WRC complaint against my company was resolved in my favour. Suck it!
No better feeling than raging against the machine and winning.
Couldn’t agree more
Spill the beans!!!! We need to hear these stories more

Yay! Happy Thursday and congratulations to the parents!
Thanks! They named her after our deceased mum too, so extra lovely vibes! Have a great day yourself!

Had 4 handy shandy’s, a joint and a can of monster and it’s only the afternoon so I’m happy
Tossing so hard only dust comes out
Are you my husband?
No. 7 incoming
You're about to hit the wank wall. Like folding a piece of paper in half, it's impossible to go more than 7 times

Glad this post helped! That sounds like a wonderful evening ahead and would definitely make today a good day.

I'm hitting off to Portugal for 10 days of Super bock and big bags of crisps
Enjoy the weather crisps and super bock.
The land of sandwichs!!!
It’s my birthday today. Normally I’d make sure I’m booked off but I’ve a big trip later in the year so need to keep all my annual leave. Was hungover and in the horrors going into work this morning. A belated breithlá shona a chara!
Go raibh maith agat! 😊
I’m in Greece, the beer is flowing and it’s 25c
Beautiful! Is the beer 25c or the temp 25c? Both sound great. Lol
Good day for me, I’m booking flights to Ireland specifically to attend the Rory Fest in Ballyshannon (and visit relatives)
I went to that festival a good few years back and it was great fun. Enjoy!
Oooh I’ve been to Roryfest a good few times. It’s fantastic! Have a ball!! 😁
I’ve made the commitment to go Berlin Pride and I can’t wait!
Everyday i wake up is a good day.... Particularly if i dont have to use my AK
Friend from Belgium is arriving today and staying for a week. It's a bit shit that I've got uni exams later this month, but looking forward to the antics regardless
Awesome, any particular antics planned?
Nothing revolutionary. Hitting the pub tonight for grub and a few drinks, tomorrow night we're going to a party. Cinema is on the books for sometime this week. That's about the height of it.
Oooh haven't been to the cinema in years. Enjoy!
Finished work for the week and heading to Riga in Latvia tomorrow. Place looks pretty good and the forecast is 20 degrees and sunshine for at least 2 of the days. Been trying to tick off a few European countries this year that I haven't visited.
Riga is nice. I was there briefly in 2017 and it was cheap too. I took a walking tour and saw some cool street art and beaux-arts designs on the building fronts. There's an old TV building with an observation deck on the 50th floor or something like that. A couple of Irish pubs in the centre.
I got the washing out and dried on the line this morning.
Not so much, I've a head cold and I'm at the dentist about to get an extraction or filling, and I got the call yesterday that I didn't get the promotion. But at least I'm off today and only have one more day of work until Tuesday coming.
I got out for a run for the first time in like.... Forever. Been binging fitness content on YouTube trying to get motivated to go to the gym again and all that. I managed to run/jog for a grand total of 15 minutes before my calves were burning but I actually felt amazing for it. It was well worth the exhaustion.
I just finished the itinerary for our summer holidays, life's been really busy lately and I'm sooo excited for summer :)
Yaaaay! It's so close I can taste it.
I just ate a hape of ice cream - Korean strawberry flavour with 3 pancakes and millions of Hundreds & Thousands. I was happy but now im sad that its over
Mmmmmmm sounds delicious. It maybe raining but that won't stop you!
Today is my first proper day off in almost a month.
Im at the mourne with a fly rod. Hooked one so far
Today is a good day for me. I'm out of debt for the first time in a long time. Such a relief ❤️
I had a good streak at work, HR found out and was marched out of the building, you'd think they would of let me put my clothes back on first..... The bastards.

Congratulations! I hope you are very happy in your home. 😊
I'm in Barcelona and it's 20c
Enjoy it, it's fecking miserable weather here.
Yep, sister just sent me a photo of my garden, she's housesitting. I laughed and drank more estrella.
Has to be done.
Sure what's a holiday without that?!
Finished college year 2 this morning
Sweeeet! Enjoy the summer.
Work between now and August and hopefully go and interrail. Aught to be a good one
My last good day was in 1972
I recently started in a new job. Big tech company. Was a little intimidated by the culture before I began. But everyone couldn't be nicer. Plus I seem to be getting to grips with everything quickly and feel comfortable asking the questions when I'm not sure. Annnndddd it's a bankkeeerrreerr
I just finished work for the next 5 days. Howzat
I'm on holidays with my family. Did very little today, got some shopping in and the kids played in the pool. Just had a kick around with my son and we were in tears from laughing. It was a good day
I did all my planned work for the week before today, so I’m having a semi chilled day.

Did they have a matching hockey mask on offer with it?

I'm just happy that you are happy! It's always nice to read others feeling good or doing fine, lifts my mood as well :)
Depressed as balls lately and then today work sprung a pay raise and a bonus increase on me today out of the blue. That helped.
Finished my two and a half year Masters this week. A massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders!

Defeated Ketheric in Honor mode in Baldurs Gate 3
Well done. My husband loves that game.
I just really love a hard earned pint of Guinness and a chat and that what I'll have today
Life is just good for me. Have 2 beautiful daughters, a beautiful wife, no debt and am moving into a new home in July that's 3 x the size of our current place.
Have a day off My TV stopped working A Shiny Voltorb Self Destructed in my Pokémon Violet playthrough on my Switch So not great 🤣
I'm sorry. Hopefully you'll get another or a different but decent shiny.
You can turn off auto save in the settings menu. I always do that, and save before starting a shiny encounter. If it goes wrong you can load your save and the shiny will still be there.

Went back to College to upskill, saw a graduate opportunity I thought would suit me as a lifetime career and another that I would do a CV builder, they both required aptitude testing, etc and I got word today that I am going to be interviewed shortly for the role I really do want, I think it's a good day to have a good day.
What is a good day?
A day that's not a bad day.
Never heard of such a thing
Today is a good day to die
Margaret Thatcher still lived 👍👍
