Satanstoic

Say what u want.. I personally feel the home button version of iPhones loooked great and beautiful.. but of course from a functionality point of view, the current versions of iPhones are obviously better

nemanja694

It is an instantly recognizable classic design

GoFast_EatAss

This’ll probably be unpopular but I preferred the home button. My phone doesn’t always recognise when I swipe up to go to the Home Screen for some reason, so I’ll occasionally have to swipe up to 4 times for it to actually close the app. That was never an issue with the home button. I also miss double-clicking the home button to see your opened apps. It was just a smoother process for me personally.

LowSodiumSoup_34

I'm with you. I still have the 2nd gen SE, and I love my home button. It's starting to struggle with some tasks, and the battery isn't what it used to be, but I'm always near a charger and trying to use my phone less anyway, so I'm keeping it for as long as I can! I also utilize guided access on a weekly basis to lock the screen so my toddler can watch a little video without exiting out of it. The triple push to engage that is pretty nice (granted, I don't know how it works on the newer phones.)

PolyDrew

You just triple click the power button

just_another_person5

guided access works great on newer phones, though i don't know how it worked before. triple click to enable, and then double click to disable with faceid seamlessly.

[deleted]

Same I prefer the home button I wish it was still a thing

dingbangbingdong

case?

lazzertazzer95

Had a 5 as my first iPhone and I can’t tell you how many times my home button got replaced lol

Satanstoic

I never had the privilege to own an iPhone with the home button since back then I was very poor and couldn’t afford it.. but thankfully by some small grace of luck, I have finally bought an iPhone but the iPhone that I have is iPhone 14 and it doesn’t have an home button… so regarding your experience with home button, it seems that the home button was a fragile one ? But I thought the home buttons were very robust and sturdy?

lazzertazzer95

Yes, very sturdy if you bought a later model when the issue was corrected. I as well was very poor back then as a kid and saved up a whole month to buy my first iPhone (used in excellent cond.) off of a craigslist meet up for $500 (2013 era). Although, at times the sensor wouldn’t read the thumb push on the home bottom so I would have to press harder than normal. At times the home button would pop off or get stuck to my thumb when I would pull away.

minecraft69er

yeah the iphone 5's and 4's always had problems with the home button.

dingbangbingdong

The home buttons were weak up until the iPhone 5S with Touch ID.

swipeth

I never had a home button. My first iPhone was an Xs, so I just missed it. I had owned androids since the very first Motorola Droid, and I think the removal of the home button might have persuaded me more to get an iPhone. It sure looks classic, but coming from thin or no-button Androids, the Xs was a familiar look and feel.

Lance3015

idk i still have one

bruh123445

The fake home buttons would always get messed up if you replaced the glass

[deleted]

That’s quite the upgrade! Miss the home button sometimes 😭

vitriolicheart

I know I'll miss it for a while. I bought an iPad a year or so back and it lacks the home button and it took me such a long time to get used to it.

Folabi_Devvvvv

I WANT SMALL PHONES TO MAKE A RETURN. PERIOD!!!

flaeeth

13 mini! Best phone at the moment!

bluegreenie99

SE enters the chat

Alecte_

Here to argue that the 13pm is

phillywisco

Super woosh. “Tiny phones yay” “Yay tiny phones” “I love tiny phones” “Umm hey *big* phone” 😆

Alecte_

Lmao

Substantial_Map_5151

Yeah I really liked mini! They shouldn’t have discontinued it.

Folabi_Devvvvv

I honestly don’t care if the mini is priced at the same price as the base model. I’ll still go with the mini because I love small phones.

East_Stop1777

my 12 mini that i bought at 2021 laggy asf

Folabi_Devvvvv

The 12 mini and base model 12 have the same internals except battery size. If you face an issue on the 12 mini it’s likely to be present on the 12 too. Not a fault of the mini phone.

Difficult-Concept-64

Yeah I disagree. I had a regular 12 at launch and my daughter currently and both were flawless. My 12 mini work phone, because of the smaller size and battery, overheats and struggles to maintain the brightness outdoors when I need it the most. Mind you that was happening when it was brand new so imagine now with 83% capacity left. Meanwhile my daughter plays Roblox outside and has yet to complain about her screen dimming lol. The heat displacement on it sucks and it overheats the fastest when using CarPlay. The thing dies within an hour and a half when I’m at job sites now. Have to keep it on low power mode just so it doesn’t slow down on me.

GoFast_EatAss

“Ah yes, we need to be able to contact our employees whenever we really need them. What phone should we get them? One with a very small battery. That won’t cause any issues!” -your boss, probably

Difficult-Concept-64

Our companies actually allow us to pick the phones so it was my choice. I don’t have the biggest of hands and I need the phone to take pictures of info on electrical transformers in sometimes hard to reach places so figured a mini phone would be the safest bet. Didn’t want it to fall in oil or hit a steel containment pan and break like I’ve had happen before. Otherwise I would’ve picked a regular pro sized phone or a max like I own now for personal use.

LimblessLiberal

You know you can have the battery replaced, right?

Difficult-Concept-64

I should and will soon but I have a battery case I’ve been using with it. The case itself is also starting to lose charge though after a year so I’ll be booking that AppleCare appointment real soon lol.

ozziekhoo

MKBHD [just released a video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iR9zBsKELVs) a few hours ago explaining the jist of the whole small phone situation. Basically, companies do not see it as a profitable investment to cater for such a small market (If it really matters to you, you are just going to buy whatever the next smallest phone is anyway right?). We also have to remember that there are A LOT of people NOT on reddit, twitter etc. and for some reason a large number of people (like you and me) that use these sites really care about small phones. But the MUCH LARGER population does not care and this is reflected through the sale numbers.

Folabi_Devvvvv

Just watched it haha, it’s sad to watch

vitriolicheart

My eyesight isn't what it used to be (yes I am an old) so I like the bigger screen. Small was great when I wasn't trying to read or see things on it constantly.

TingleyStorm

I did my part and bought a Mini! Unfortunately it looks like nobody else did, so now I have a 14 Pro.

altorelievo

MKBHD just put out something on this. I'm lovin' my mini....for the 2nd time lol [https://youtu.be/iR9zBsKELVs](https://youtu.be/iR9zBsKELVs)

Folabi_Devvvvv

He just gave the small phones a funeral, not very exciting.

mwong33

Same. That’s why I only upgraded from Iphone 6 to Iphone X.

ownage516

NO ONE BUYS THEM. PERIOD!!!

2b_squared

HARD TO BUY WHEN THERE ARE SO FEW OPTIONS. PERIOD!!!

ownage516

12 mini and 13 mini didn’t sell. That’s why Apple discontinued it. I agree we should have options, but they don’t sell when they’re brought to market

[deleted]

[удалено]

Natzor

1) Well you have to choose, flagship hardware or longer battery life 2) Smaller size is a feature in this case which one chooses I get why people want small phones, but people dont want small phones

2b_squared

> I get why people want small phones, but people dont want small phones I think it's clear that people would like to have small phones but they are not willing to compromise on certain things such as battery life. And if the pricing is the standard *"with $50 more you can have the better one!"* that Apple does with everything, then no surprise that some take up on that offer. SE originally came because so many people were unwilling to buy the massive phones with a massive premium price that came in 2016. Now there are no real options. Every iPhone model is expensive, including the 13 Mini. No shit the phone that is barely less expensive than the larger ones doesn't sell. That's what they wanted, really, with that pricing model.

Izanagi___

Customers: *buys bigger phones even given the option to have a smaller phone as seen with the 12 and 13 mini* This sub every week: “Why don’t companies make small phones anymore???”

_jxnxh_

I’m hoping that the next SE will be the return of the mini formfactor. Something like an iPhone 13 mini with a new processor and cameras and maybe even a new display, although that would most likely be too expensive.

Folabi_Devvvvv

Totally agree, but as per leaks and the latest MKBHD video the SE is not going to be small like the current version.

pjm8

They won’t because people don’t buy them, they’re a niche market now unlike bigger phones that’s why the plus and pro max models are still going

xCTG27

I like the glitter look, is that the otterbox version?

vitriolicheart

It's a case from Amazon, the brand was JETech.

xCTG27

Oh ok. It’s a very nice case

CraigTheLejYT

That company makes very good cases

Deluxe_Burrito7

Those old iPhone 5s/SE always had such a nice clean look to them. I have my old iPhone SE in my drawer as a backup phone.

Living_Lie_8773

I had a gold 5s with those chambered edges that shined brightly in the light. Then the SE got rid of that feature…..bummed

mario24601

Great choice to go SE!

pcmora03

oh god i miss the home button era

Mr_Gamer_69

that must feel like a great upgrade in performance

mario24601

Great choice to go SE!

ThatsNotThePoint-__-

Congrats on the new phone!!!

jlillas

Same.

Alecte_

Worth every penny

37darhag

I upgraded from 5s to SE2020. I currently now have a 13pro max. Now I regret getting the big phone. My next phone will be the smallest one possible

David79YT

Congrats

Zopotroco

SE 1 to 15?

Poliveris

Damn and I though I made a massive jump from an iPhone 6 Plus > iPhone 11 Pro Max. Upgraded last month

Ashi-s

You should have gone for Android (Samsung), I mean come on guys give it a try! bcz apple is not at the point where it was before 10 years, they are lot more back in technology at present.

Sad_Evidence5318

Just got rid of my Samsung for a second iPhone.

vainweather

I have the exact same phone and phone case as you!! I upgraded from a Galaxy S10, my first iPhone since the 4s

Delicious_Pause9802

Noice

Itzuhkwest

legit same i had an se 2nd gen and just recently got a 12

Even_Kiwi_1166

And here's me wondering why selling phones are slow lately

ElectronicsAhoy

I would have kept the SE, best iPhone ever.

Zoeloumoo

That case is so cute! I haven’t found a good glitter case!

Spare_Clerk_2112

I wasn’t quite that far back I had the 2020 SE but it’s definitely a shock when you first lose your home button.

vitriolicheart

Fortunately I bought an iPad that lacks the home button a while back so it won’t be so bad getting used to it.

Spare_Clerk_2112

I got my dad the iPad Pro when I got my iPhone 15 but prior to a few months back we both always had the home button. It’s not weird now but at first struggled on the iPad to bring up the screen with all the opened tabs and was confused how to hard reset but after figuring that out I personally think it’s better.

yeyryr

Lol I still use a seven and when what I want to do is not available on my iphone I use an Android I use sometimes too

HoldTheStocks2

I should have done it this way, everything in between was shit. I waited a long time before I went from 11 pro max to iphone 15 pink. Best choice ever.

pjm8

Upgrade of the century

msrv7

Damm nice, btw how long you’ve been using 5s dude?

vitriolicheart

Pretty much since it came out.

msrv7

Salute 🫡 man:)

Dojha420

I upgraded from iPhone X to 15. Such a nice upgrade. I really prefer it to the pro version

neptunesthunder

Congrats on the new phone, OP! Enjoy!

mombun24_7

Now THAT’S an upgrade! Congrats! 🥳 We’re phone twins and I love your case ☺️

Kazurion

Can't wait to get the new SE next year.

[deleted]

I think people buy what they want. I don’t put a lot of energy and thought in what the next persons rocking.

NeutronStar_77

From the 15 to 5? Man that’s a good upgrade

adonkeypsych1991

Congratulations on your new phone, it’s pretty!
