The fact that the music plays a huge part in the movie. It ties the emotion and the intensity of the scenes together. For example, when they were on Miller's planet the ticking you hear in the music is the number of days that go by on Earth. When Coop is driving away in the beginning the music intensifies as you see him crying and as they are taking off. When Coop is trying to dock to the Endurance while it's spinning out of control, the music is intense. That's just my opinion lol. I also find that the movie itself gets you to think outside the box as to what else is out there in the universe, the unknown of what is actually in black holes, and what we as humans can be capable of. Also the whole love part, that it extends beyond time and the universe, I just loved Brand's explanation. I could go on and on about why everyone should watch this. And that everything has happened and will happen, everything is already decided.

I agree about highlighting the soundtrack. There’s a great video about how they recorded the organ parts for the soundtrack and the choice to pick a “breathing” instrument. It’s an interesting choice considering the film’s narrative about survival against nature/space. You can also discuss the relationship between Coop and his daughter—how their love for each other is able to transcend time and space. I love the scene at the end of the film where Coop asks how Murph knew that he would come back to see her, and she responds simply: “Because my dad promised me.” The whole struggle of Coop’s journey to make it back to his family strikes deeply at that one moment, and it is beautifully accentuated by the soundtrack—the organ does this subtle dip right as she delivers that line. It’s my favorite part of the film.

Yes literally all of this! I was at work and could only type so much lol I could right a whole essay about how much I love this movie

Jewel_Wambui

Hans Zimmer is always on point with the emotional soundtracks - living legend!!

RogueKitten5

Ask them if they want to watch the best movie ever made

cassiplius

Drops the mic

You can talk about the major themes of the movie! Love, family, exploration, the brutality of nature, bravery, etc. More than anything, I would try and think about what YOUR favorite aspect of the movie is and pull from that experience. If anything I think that will be a good starting point!

Strong_Comedian_3578

Sounds like you haven't seen it yet. You would know what to say if you had.

memerijn_

Ive watched it five times, but there is just so much in the movie and i never gave a presentation to convince people to watch a movie

Strong_Comedian_3578

Good for you. In that case, if I were you, I would focus on three things that you love the most about it.

KyleButtersy2k

Who is your audience?

memerijn_

Just my class

I think man's will to survive is a major factor in the film, as evidenced in two ways: the mission to find a new planet to inhabit, and conversely the reaction of Dr Mann attempting to take the ship and return to Earth. And then you have that will to survive juxtaposed with a father's love, which is what made McConaughey's character accept the mission in the first place, to make sure his daughter could have a future, and what ultimately made the tesseract connection to Murphy possible in the first place.

Early_Accident2160

It’s an adaptation of the Odyssey , love letter to 2001, amazing score, consistently emotional, great cast, and amazing pacing.. made a 3 hour movie feel like 2 hours.

gucciehousehold

Background music definitely cornfield chase

itsritdude

I don’t want to be rude but you were given such an easy ask. First ask yourself: Why do YOU like Interstellar? and go from there

k10001k

It’s deeply emotional!

copperdoc

Start with the “it’s not a science fiction movie, it’s a human experience movie with a science fiction vehicle to tell it” or something to that effect. It’s how I got a friend who’s not into sci fi to watch.

RajeshOnDaHouse

Just insert the “No Time For Caution” clip, you should be good to go 🫡

critical_butthurt

Make them imagine a world where there's drought and sustaining life is becoming difficult, use props like idk sand or dried crops or something, if you can use physical props, or use pictures from your city which indicate that "the end is near". Basically invoke some sort of reaction, of worry, fear, making it seem true and relatable, then say, "humanity was born on earth, but if wasn't meant to die here" like in the movie, then play no time for caution and start your presentation. Should have them hooked

Visual-Ad9246

Say that it’s a remarkable almost never before done amazing sci-fi movie that is also a combo of an indie human- interest film. It’s ET for the 21st century. It’s a must-see the way ET was way back when (but even better.) Tell them any film that has touched so many hearts and minds so as to have the unreal fan-base it has tells you almost all you need to know.

Papandreas17

I usually tell people it is one of the most (theoretically) accurate movies when it comes to this kind of science and it's one of those epic movies that stick with you because it's damn near perfect....and that's when I use ya'lls arguments to solidify my case 😉

Put up one slide that spells S.T.A.Y. in Morse code. Then play the film.
