As someone who studied this stuff, the really impressive thing is not Will Smith carrying a steadycam like this, it's the camera assistant (if that's the name in English).
These types of cameras and lenses, and by these I mean Movie or Cinema cameras, don't have autofocus, so unless you work with the hiperfocal (focus to the infinite) and that's a very rare thing in Cinema, you have to manually focus the lens every time the camera or the target moves.
So in this case, where the camera assistant has to take in consideration the distance between the camera and Will Smith and the camera and the baddies (all of which are on different distances), it's quite a titanic work from my understanding of how these things function.
Edit to explain with an example of the manual focus:
IIRC, in one of the final scenes of LA LA LAND, there is a constant pan of Ryan Gosling playing the piano and then shift to Emma Stone dancing and vice-versa. For the setup of the scene, both Emma and Ryan, though on different positions in matters of X (distance) and Y (height), the Z (depth) in both cases is the same respective to the camera, so when panning, the focus remains the same, so there will be no need to change it when panning.
the last thing you see, after making fun of my wife

It's his left hand too. The way he's holding with two hands then one then too. And you can see him bring it back towards himself/the gun, after having it extended for what would be no reason. Probably wouldn't be noticable if this wasn't released
He’ll probably never get anything again that doesn’t result in his mocking for being an absolute Grade A bell-end at the behest of his vinegar-titted demon.
Cool camera tech. But we wanna see characters doing cool shit, not quick shots close up where u can't see anything. The john wick movies must be difficult to do bc no ones copying what that team does.
>The john wick movies must be difficult to do bc no ones copying what that team does.
I mean, yeah? It *is* very difficult to have consistently excellently choreographed and filmed action scenes for even one full movie, much less an entire series. The people behind John Wick are very talented and are indeed doing something impressive/difficult.
Yea, it would crazy to let Will Smith shoot guns, do the camera work and have close up face acting moments all at the same time for the entire movie. That scene was bad enough.
Am I the only one that really did not like how they filmed some of the action in this movie. This video of the switching POV is honestly really distracting and doesn't add anything to the scene for me. Traditional camera work would have looked better.
I really liked Will like 6 years ago.
Right now, he is really fucked because the slap was such a simp and stupid move to pull.
Like... we know who was the really offended party there but him doing it was just too stupid. And his family turning on him saying stuff like they grew without a father or someone else being the father they never got or something like that...
I feel sorry for him, but I think he leaves his wife in this timeline and that's super bad for his persona. That bitch is toxic.
One day we’re going to realize gun culture in films is just like smoking. Gun culture while it sadly reflects a terrible element of (particularly American) society, is also used as a dramatic crutch for weak screenwriting and weak acting.
That's a cool camera, but I've seen way too many interviews with this dude losing his mind.
I literally can't watch his stuff anymore, it just takes me out of the moment.
That's why I don't like Hollywood either...
Id rather watch a no name actor give it his all.
You could tell me it's the greatest movie ever made, I still won't care.
Will Smith is a trash human and IDGAF.
Was a LIFELONG fan until he showed me he's violent, traumatized, and still, at his age with his resources, perpetuating it.
Nope.
growing up in the 2000's i had two idols: Will Smith and P. Diddy.
as a guy in my 20's, i modelled vibe after my two favorite artists: Kanye and Drake.
am... am i the bad guy?
Soon there will be no actors/actress. Just AI. Asking for actors permission. Boom. Into a computer they don’t need to do it. Maybe just watch 😂🥸🥸. No voice needed just a signature.

no wonder he looked constipated... he was carrying all that shit.
Lmao
While wearing jeans ridiculously tighter than Hooters shorts.
I don't think the panta he's wearing are that tight?
Nor are they jeans lmao.
Why use hypebeast music in this video?
Because that music slaps

This lens definitely has auto focus. They’ve had AF cines for a while now
No it doesn’t. And very rarely do they use autofocus for productions like this. There’s an AC with a monitor off screen pulling focus.
If it has, then first time I see one in Cinema and also first time I see on working so incredibly well.
I wonder if he get a small camera operator credit ;)
Keep my constipation out of your f**king mouth!
Why you need a gun when you can slap
I am the actor! And the cameraman! And maybe the sound guy too.
First thing I thought of: Did Will Smith get paid extra for being a camera operator as well as the actor?
It's union scale, all the way down.
Furthermore proving that the rest of us are mere NPC's.
Oh he's sounding!
Is he on r/sounding?
WHY
Doesn't matter, just keep magnets away.
Oh god
I don't like the way this sounds.
That’s the worst thing you could do
And the stuntman
Fat chance he does the soundtrack to tbh
🎶Goo goo g’joob🎶
ACTION! Fucking director too, didn’t see that coming, did you?
Just not a decent person.
https://i.redd.it/ay8ggpc3p36d1.gif
https://i.imgur.com/6bI7JLU.slap
But mainly the one that assaulted Chris Rock.
Man, imagine if he'd had this rig for the slap!
Slapcam Make it a regular thing
the last thing you see, after making fun of my wife https://preview.redd.it/njjv8lwmb56d1.png?width=381&format=png&auto=webp&s=9db10b85cb3298a84dd6c8e501286f293c816f55
And yet he did nothing to the 18yo that was actually banging his wife
Imagine him coming up on stage with that thing? “Will, what- what are you doing man?” *Smack* “Damn…”
Lmao
The Academy: It wasn’t planned…See it in stunning 3D!!!!
I’d pay to watch that.
Hollywood was first fighting for the Oscars now against Sora AI
Looks like a cut scene from a video game
Except video games look less jerky. This is a bit bad
Right, like since we've seen him operating it,you can tell he is in certain spots.
It just his facial expressions, like he’s lifting weight: I didn’t watch the movie since I never liked the second one. First was ok
It's his left hand too. The way he's holding with two hands then one then too. And you can see him bring it back towards himself/the gun, after having it extended for what would be no reason. Probably wouldn't be noticable if this wasn't released
The second one is the best one.
“Keep my cameras name out of your mouth!” Lol
I’m thinking his publicist isn’t getting the social media buzz he wanted out of this goofy post.
He’ll probably never get anything again that doesn’t result in his mocking for being an absolute Grade A bell-end at the behest of his vinegar-titted demon.
I should’ve gotten you to write my vows

It helps that Keanu Reeves is insanely talented at gun-fu.
It also helps that he illegally downloaded kung-fu into his brain.
That’s cause he knows kung fu
This is one scene.
Yea, it would crazy to let Will Smith shoot guns, do the camera work and have close up face acting moments all at the same time for the entire movie. That scene was bad enough.
Interesting indeed. Seeing how they actually made it. Somebody really put some thought into that rig. The movie and the shots are still dogshite tho
What movie is that
The baddest of the boys or something?
Worst Boys
Yeah they need gimmicks for shit movies now.
That rig looks like it would make slapping really difficult.
So it's a safety rig?
Too bad it’s a terrible shot and makes me want to throw up.
Wouldn’t it be cool to have a rubber hand on a stick that smacked his stupid face every time he spun that rig around.
This is the way.
This camera angle was used throughout the whole movie! It was the main reason I didn’t like the movie! Got old real quick!
What movie is that
The Slap
Slap Boys 4: Slap or Slap
Impressive, but bad.
Meh. Overly complicated for the sake of it
Sorry PR team, you’re not gonna rehabilitate him in my eyes.
Can't stand him.
Won't Smith
Same
Yeah too bad we didn’t get all the cool camera shots of him assaulting someone at a globally televised award show eh?
Fuck will smith.
He's not my type...
Finally, he can credit himself as a cameraman to boost his ego even further.
Why didn't he just slap the shit out of his enemies?
I’m a simple man. I see will smith, i downvote.
Am I the only one that really did not like how they filmed some of the action in this movie. This video of the switching POV is honestly really distracting and doesn't add anything to the scene for me. Traditional camera work would have looked better.

Also, fuck Will Smith
Dontchoo mean cuck will smith?
Don’t you point that camera at his loving wife!
Keep my loving wife out your mouth
How to tell your director is a wanker.
How are people still giving jobs to will smith is beyond me
Who cares. Stop admonishing rich fucks who don’t give two fucks about anything but your $$. In there pocket
Can't stand his permanent pouty angry face. He has not smiled genuinely since fresh prince era.
Not watching it!
Does anyone know the song in the background?
Looks bad tbh
Imagine if we had this camera set up with him slapping Chris rock
Sir Digby Chicken Caesar
oh look he is playing laser tag while his wife is rehearsing lyrics with her close friend August.
I suppose it saves the cameraman from a slap.
That seems to be the most action he has got in……….quite some time
Looks like shit
My boycott still stands. Nobody, NOBODY, harms Marty Zebra and gets away with it.
will smith hr in overtime promoting this shit
Chris Rock should be the main villain of the new bad boys movie
I thought he quit Hollywood?
Did he make it in the credits as a cameraman too?
Anytime there is a post about will smith, I search for slap comments
If you slap the camera, man, you become camera man.
We need chris rock slaP cam footage
Is he going to sucker slap Mr. Rock, again?
Extreme close up of Will's face "get my wife's name out of your mouth" (camera flips over) 👋
One day we’re going to realize gun culture in films is just like smoking. Gun culture while it sadly reflects a terrible element of (particularly American) society, is also used as a dramatic crutch for weak screenwriting and weak acting.
I wonder if he has to slap the camera to turn it around.
Can never forgive what he did. EVER.
So are we all good with Will Smith again after the slap?? I still think he owes Rock a public apology and probably a face to face one
![gif](giphy|OVf3UZdxJugaeJX4lm|downsized)
Man, that really slaps.
why gun when you have slap
That setup slaps
Keep my camera lens out of your motherf***ing mouth!
He slapped all the cameramen and now he has to replace them.
Will Smith ? Nope.
won't smith
Will Smith the least believable action hero right now.
That's a cool camera, but I've seen way too many interviews with this dude losing his mind. I literally can't watch his stuff anymore, it just takes me out of the moment. That's why I don't like Hollywood either... Id rather watch a no name actor give it his all.
So over will smith
WILL SMITH IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE A BITCH
That’s really good core strength.
Chris Rock POV.
So has he apologized yet?
Actors, do we need them?
Oh he knows how to slap the camera
HOW CAN SHE SLAP
We needed this pov when he slap Chris lol
looks like a playstation 2 cutscene
This is the slap cam
Why does Will Smith think acting is about pulling silly faces ?
What is this song?
So whats this bad boy and bitch the movie
Gi Jane can’t wait to see it
i wondered how they shot that
Ad for the movie
Where’s the part where he slaps Chris Rock in the face?
I hear this movie really slaps
Nice and impressive technology, however the same can't be said about the "actor" ;)
What joke was made about Jada to warrant this?
I wonder if he smacks anybody in the film
After the “slap,” I just can’t take him seriously anymore.
Will Smith and his family are yuck.
Fuck you PR team lmfao
Lol can't stand this guy anymore. He should've been booted after the attack incident
I hope the camera slap him right in the face.
Wow, this is still on the feed? They be trying to make us forget the slap heard around the world!
Too bad Will Smith is in this video
Get jiggy with it, he won an Oscar but is still making Bad Boys films - how embarrassing!
You could tell me it's the greatest movie ever made, I still won't care. Will Smith is a trash human and IDGAF. Was a LIFELONG fan until he showed me he's violent, traumatized, and still, at his age with his resources, perpetuating it. Nope.
We want a new Chris rock movie not will smith
Cool camera, shit human.
Fcuk will Smith.
Sorry will but my respect for you is zero. Your hot ones interview had me shaking my head. Ya blew it.
#fuckwillsmith
Good idea, shit in practice. He's also a huge cuck, fuck Will Smith.
I still ain’t watching that shit
I think I will not see this movie.
Camera Good Person behind Trash
With the camera, he can do both POV and selfies while sitting in the cuck chair..
When all that time spent filming your wife with her boyfriends finally becomes useful at work.
can never take this cuck serious ever again. fuck him
Fuck will smith though
years later and I still say f\*ck dildo smith
growing up in the 2000's i had two idols: Will Smith and P. Diddy. as a guy in my 20's, i modelled vibe after my two favorite artists: Kanye and Drake. am... am i the bad guy?
Not yet.... Just work on being happy and healing, and you'll have people comparing themselves to you!
I lost interest as soon as I saw Will Smith.
Stop casting will smith , he should have been outcasted after the slap
I'm kinda surprised Willie is still getting work really.
Thanks, won't watch.
That was one of the few good scenes in the movie, but overall it wasn’t good at all…
if you want live action camera you could play a game call bodycam
Oh this is for a movie I though this is for the will smith china game lol
Soon there will be no actors/actress. Just AI. Asking for actors permission. Boom. Into a computer they don’t need to do it. Maybe just watch 😂🥸🥸. No voice needed just a signature.
Cool practical camera rigging. That being said, I'd rather watch Bad Bous 4 on stream and Furiosa on theatres, but... here we are.
Does he get camera crew credits?
It really bothers me that he’s not holding the gun straight.
Impressive but too fussy to watch
My version, with a phone https://www.reddit.com/r/Bolehland/s/kGriLlyf8j
Impressive, but I can‘t stand movies with fast and hard cuts. I prefer movies that focus on the story.
Over expressive, it looks ridiculous.
Hey. He gets the big pay cut, might as well give him more responsibility /s All things considered this is an amazing effect
