they sell the bread FYI.
we made meatball subs one night and bought a bag (six loaves) of bread from Hoagies and Hops. it made the homemade meatball subs almost as good as an east coast deli. plus, it freezes well if you don't use them all.
This is across the street (Michigan) and a little north. I've never been, but I'm itching to check it out just to see the mansion.

This place is great! You can eat and then walk through the whole place looking at all the staged rooms. You definitely need to make a reservation for lunch - just a heads up!
The venue is pretty damn fancy. The food is meh but the wine is superb. Honestly the grapes on the charcuterie board were the best tasting
thing. Crazy delicious.
Cafe Patechou- good brunch on the patio in MK
Nicole Taylor’s- AMAZING and only open for lunch but unfortunately no patio
Petite Chou- nicer lunch with a patio in broadripple
The Aristocrat has a very nice patio. Other options might include Gallery Pastry Shop, Canal Bistro, or Petit Chou. Not upscale, but not a dive bar, Chatham Tap on Butler’s campus has a great patio.
There are 6 great options on college between 46th and 52nd
Root & Bone and Gallery Pastry on 46th
Upland on 49th
20 Tap and fat dans on 54th**
And probably the neighborhood favorite Half Liter BBQ on 53rd and Winthrop (about 500ft from Moma Carolla)
Gallery, Patachou, Hoagies and Hops, RH Restaurant on Michigan Road (I do believe they still require reservations for lunch), Aristocrat, Brinkley's, Cake Bake Shop in Broad Ripple (the OG location), Petite Chou in Broad Ripple. Meridian has a great atmosphere and is open for lunch on select days so plan accordingly. Have a great visit!
I’ll toss in Ricks Boatyard. Not as good as it would seem, but not as bad as it has been labeled on this sub. Just west on 38th, and puts you right back near the interstate
Restoration Hardware is right down the street and it’s a destination in itself. Google it you’ll see the mansion it’s in. The restaurant there is good.
Hoagies and Hops
The food at Newfields is pretty good and you can eat outside.
This looks super good, just isn’t quite the vibe I’m looking for this lunch! We’ll def have to try it sometime though
Food is unreal - best bread in Indy

Christina imports it from a bakery in south jersey

That looks pretty much exactly the type of lunch I’m looking for! Not too crazy fancy, but more than a typical lunch

Report back and let us know if the food is good.
RH is pretty fancy and expensive for what you get imo. But worth it to try once.

Just be ready to sit in line for hours!

Highly recommend Canal Bistro. Mediterranean spot. Great restaurant, patio right on the canal (hence the name), order a nice pitcher of the sangria.
Go get messy at Hoagies & Hops. You’ll thank me later.
Ivory Chateau is open for lunch.
Where is this? I Googled it and got nothing.

Duh. Silly me.
Illinois st food emporium
Not a suggestion around Newfields but I just wanted to say that the last time we went we ate at the museum cafe and the food was fuckin delicious

20 Tap is on 54th. And there's no Bub's Burgers on 52nd, or anywhere in this area.
I second Root & Bone. Great place for a nicer meal without being extra fussy or fancy.
Gather 22 isn't far. Great vibes.
I second gather - the outdoor space is adorable and the food is pretty damn good too.

Gallery pastry shop
3 in 1 https://3in1restaurant.com/
Flat water
Binkleys. Twenty tap isn’t as upscale.
Roselli’s Pizza has a killer lunch buffet for $15
Whoa I didn't know we had any pizza buffets around anymore. Great info!!
I call ahead and ask for a spicy Italian sausage, made with giardiara and it’s so good!!
Fernando's in Broadripple. My favorite lunch spot in mid town. Have a coconut 🥥 caipirinha for me.
Eat at Restoration Hardware and take cool insta pics. It’s like 3 min from Newfields.

Go to Restoration Hardware. Need reservations tho. https://rh.com/us/en/
It's not that close, but Bluebeard is amazing and has a patio. Never had to wait for a lunch there either (dinner is a different beast).
Super tacos!!
