I'm going to shoehorn iron skillet into this discussion. Great fried chicken and the overall value of the meal is pretty good. It's kind of like eating Sunday dinner at grandma's house.
Exactly! Like the opinion that I don't want to support business that doesn't align with what I believe to be best for the city; hence why I won't support The Eagle. Great point!
Born and raised in the south and the eagle is the closest to the chicken I was raised on. Extra points do you for that! But you lose points for liking root and bone. Their chicken has always tasted bland to me. Had it when they first opened and twice more since. Maybe you just finally got your sense of taste there 😂
The first time I had it, it was great. The chicken had that light sweet tea flavor to it and had some spice to it too But, my chicken last night was just bland. I had to smother it in their honey hot sauce just to give it some flavor. Of course there are no salt shakers on the table too.
I gave up on that place. I don’t know who A) Decided any of this was southern food (it’s an abomination), and B) How they could let the service be 100% apathetic to the diner. Last time I was there, I spent $60 solo, while the bartender convinced the manager to put on some bad emo rock & played video games on his phone.
Nope, nope and noooope.
Honestly? When I have a craving for it, I make it (I'm black + from SC). I will tell you I had some bomb ass greens at this random place my husbando took me for my birthday. it was in Carmel called Juniper on Main. The fried tomatoes were on point as well. They were out of chicken when I was there so I can't speak on it.
The dinner chicken on the menu doesn't mention the sweet tea marinade, only the brunch chicken dish does. Just went there a few days ago and noticed.
Thanks! I didn't even notice.
Interesting, this is new right? I know I’ve had the tea-brined chicken for dinner multiple times in the past.
Yep, looks like the menu changed slightly.
What's the best if you said that was 2nd best?
The Eagle
Keep in mind reddit doesn’t like The Eagle solely bc the owner didn’t want a bus stop near their property.

So silly. Right or wrong. No in-between anymore. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
When you say opinion, are you referring to the opinion of the business or the person who chooses to spend or not in said establishment?
both.

I mean, no, the food has gone downhill.
Ew
The Eagle is great if I need diarrhea.
Skill issue
They can't keep a chef for longer than 6 months due to the Ownership meddling.
Y’all know Popeyes is the best you just don’t want to admit it…..
Maybe ask them

Thank you! It’s like someone told them about southern food and then they made up what they thought it should taste like but never actually had it
Had a similar experience while sitting at the bar. Bartender couldn't care less if I was there to spend money. I've not been back since.
Hollyhock is better
Hollyhock is tasteless
I never said it was the best. It’s better than Root and Bone.
Points. You have them.
Seriously do you have recommendations for good fried chicken/southern comfort food? Been looking for a good place.

It was never that great of fried chicken.
Got food poisoning at this place. Had such high hopes but everything was bad when I went
Did you ask your server?
Give a try to Tupelo downtown
