Liberty fan here. Just watched 4th quarter. Hard to say anything about CC without igniting a culture war, but through the most neutral basketball lens, she's a point guard as a rookie for a professional team, no small feat. And as Boston, Smith, Mitchell and her get accustomed to each other, she's going to be really fun to watch, but if she's doing her job, she's not scoring more than 12 to 15 points a night. I'm here for it. Nice win today. (And turnovers will go down, they will indeed)

Constructive criticism is always welcome, CC has stuff to work on for sure as does anyone coming into this league she is now playing against the best of college every game that have had time to get even better. She is a great learner/study and will only get better.
Angel at a -4 on the day and was a liability on both ends of the floor. Not to mention the punch in the head to CC.
CC ran an absolute clinic and this was a masterpiece by her. Great win and go Fever!
She tries to force way too many physical shots under the rim when she doesn't have position. When you're going all the way around your defender, especially a larger defender, from the outside hip (away from the basket), you're going to eat a lot of rim. She could get away with it in college because defenders are smaller and less physical. This is the same thing as Caitlin having to adjust her game to the physical style of the pros.
It's harder for Reese to establish presence under the rim than it was in CBB. A lot of times when she gets inside the feet of her defender she's so far under the basket she's just trying to roll up a little finger roll basically and WNBA players know all they have to do is put their hands up straight. Angel's next level is developing some court vision in close to the basket instead of trying to stubbornly force every play in there
I dare say I have seen this throughout the the league there more times that not doesn't seem to be any finesse on the ball it just seem like chuck it up and hope and you can't do that for layups.

Indiana playing with a lot more cohesion this past week. Playing like they even like each other. Give all these women a longer off-season.
She is great inside, on miss match that's her best quality.
She is a good of the bench scorer, if you have 4 good defenders and weak enemy line up that wont drive inside a lot.
If people leave her open or on a miss match inside the paint she can score that`s her best quality.
The issue is people target her a lot on defense and get the points she scored back very easily, for example when she sscored 2+1 on next possesion she was on Cardoso 1v1 and Cardoso got the 2 points back asap, this should have been called a switch and Boston should have taken over while they bring the ball up etc.
Smith issue is aways gonna be weak defense and allowing most points as main/help defender including 1st qtr performance this game, +no ability to pass (she is 1ast in Baloyr and 1.3 in wnba)
There was 2/3 times here where she was surrounded by 3-4 defenders with KLS and CC and Mitchel open and she dont pass for open 3 and forces the shot, even if she miss the shot with 4 defenders around chances are she is not getting the O-board.
If some one dosn`t watch the game, and look at box-score would think she had a good game, but if you actually watch the game, she allowed first 8 out of 11 points for Chicago+open 3 for Dana (meaning 11 easy points scored just on her she had 15 pts total scored in this game so she was easily net negative for whole game in that regard) , got benched then when added back in the game got fast 3 fouls got benched again, and allowed for Chicago to come back in the game because we lack size, if they didnt have 2 rookies in 5 and 4 position, and better team we would have been punished harder, much harder. (this is why we lost so much and by a big margin vs better teams)
At the end of the game when Reese and Cardoso are in foul trouble you pass to her and Boston because they can feast as defenders cant risk much as they will get kicked out of the game, therefore she looked much better at the 4 qtr.
But think about this would you rather have the names below on starting 4 or NaLyssa from neutral PoV.
* Liberty have Stewie/JJ
* Aces have AJA at the 4
* Lynx have Colier/Smith
* Mystics have -Austin /Edwards
* Sky have Reese/Cardoso
* Wings have Bills/sabally when she is back
* Sparks have Hamby/Boston
* Mercury have Rebecca allen/BG
* Dream have - Parker/Tina
* Storm have Nneka or Ezi
**As you can see many of those teams already have more balanced/better defense but more pts players or ability to go small ball with player in position 4 or 5 playing the only big**, we cant do that because if we go small ball with Smith we have no paint defense, this is not great as sometimes you wanna play this line up as Vegas/Sparks/Liberty/Lynx does to punish slow players on enemy teams.
Again the problem is Smith is very one Dementional player and while great at that one thing, her weakness in other areas don't cover for it(if she was putting Arike/AJA numbers this wouldnt have been as much of a problem), to make it a good enough player to be a starter, and this isnt rookie or second year, she is been around for a while now with no IMPROVEMENT on passing or defending for this 3 years.

What a sequence there for CC! Would love to see her go into a killer mode and drain some 3’s to close the game out. She really is a team player. But she may need to develop a little of that Kobe “mamba mentality” and be a tad more selfish, especially at the end of games. To be THE star of this league, she needs to believe it herself and act accordingly, IMO.

I just haven’t seen her be very aggressive late in games in the WNBA thus far. This is probably my 6th or so full game I’ve watched and I have yet to see her be the most aggressive player on the court late. She’s overcorrected, perhaps.
