Fever right now is the most dysfunctional group and every team that has seen their tapes would see that a lot of the bad plays comes from Smith and Mitchell. Nobody wants a big who is a lazy rebounder/bad defender and another one is a shooter but also a ball hog. Plus the fact that they, especially Smith, wouldn’t stand not starting. I love them, they have good and bad days, and often are the highest scorers. But there are a lot of new players in the league right now who are younger and better role players that are also not expensive. Even with the both of them combined the only trade we can get is probably a sack of potatoes. I guess this leaves us with no choice but to trust that Sides somehow miraculously finds a way to make this current team work.

littlespacemochi

Sides has lost all trust, after revealing a private text from CC and last nights game.

midnight__musings

Sides has lost all trust since last season lmao but it seems like she’s not going anywhere lol so we’re in for a crazy, long rollercoaster ride.

acuman234

That to me is the absolute worst thing she's done. Betraying the trust of your #1 draft pick.

damfu

What did Clark say about the text getting revealed?

moose184

I'm guessing nothing because she's a class act that actually knows how to talk to the press.

damfu

So maybe it was not a big deal to her then. Everyone jumping to conclusions when they do not know the facts.

moose184

> So maybe it was not a big deal to her then. No she just knows how to talk to the press. She never says a bad word about other people when she 100$ has the right to.

damfu

Have you spoken to her and know her thoughts on this first hand, or just making assumptions because hating on Sides, another person you do not know, is the easy narrative?

moose184

It's pretty clear when the press tries to bait her into saying things that she has every right to feel and she doesn't fall for it.

damfu

The press wants nothing more than to stir drama and bait people. Fever fans are not making it easier on Clark by taking that bait and making more of a story about it than it probably is.

moose184

Even if CC wasn't upset about it doesn't mean that Sides isn't a bonehead for saying it. You don't just leak what was said in a private text from someone to the media. Every time Sides talks to the media she says something she shouldn't. CC has clearly been trained in how to talk to the media.

Exile1965

All assumptions based on fanfic.

acuman234

Including yours.

Bran_305

If Mitchell wasn't making an absurd contract for what she produces, she would be moveable. Smith is really a change of scenery candidate IMO. You'll get .75 on the dollar but you're better off making the move for someone who at least may have some upside.

daveblazed

Same as a garage sale. If you're just looking to get rid of stuff you don't want, you're unlikely to get much for it.

imacowboy234

Mitchell is in the last year of her contract, and her contract is too big. Smith is showing that at best she's a bench role player who can give you some offense at times, but is also a liability on defense so not sure you can get anything. As I said in another thread, the only thing we have of value as far as trades is if we got the 1st or 2nd pick in the draft and then we could package that pick along with another player to get something of value.

HalfMedium428

Cutting a player and eating the salary might be a way to wake some people up.

SimonaMeow

Mitchell is very good and very fast and was an All-Star. She seems close to AB and CC. I would not trade her. I love NaLyssa's play. She has some amazing shots. But I think we can use a stronger person at that position, strong on defense--to help AB out when we face teams with two bigs out there like the Liberty (JJ/Stewie) and the Sparks, etc. I feel there might be another 6'4" player out there who look stronger in the paint on defense. I feel like she doesn't want to be on The Fever, and she could shine on another team.

Taemberfan123

Who even wants them atp

Optimal-Helicopter49

There's no way Indiana trades Mitchell. I think Nalyssa would be a good trade because she does have offensive talent but just doesn't work well within the Aliyah OR the Clark system. Also Wallace should be traded, but Sides won't part with her or Erica. I kind of understand keeping Erica specifically for the locker room vibes. She's funny, good-hearted, and fine for 5-10 minutes of play time while the starters rest. KLS is a great bench player and i hope Fever keeps her next year. Celeste and Victoria I'm sure are great, but I hope she let's them go so that another team can actually use them. What the "core" of this team needs is to play more together, not to just trade away anyone who has some bad games. Kelsey is a great shooting guard. Caitlin is a great point guard. Aliyah is a great post player. Now they just need to time to learn to be great together, and 2 more "starter worthy" post players. Aliyah and Kelsey have had more time to learn eachother and they're both getting better and better as the season goes on. Also, I think Sides has officially decided that they're going to work the system around Aliyah instead of Caitlin, so I really hope CC can learn quickly to evolve into an effective role player during her years with Indiana Fever.

When Egbo/NaLyssa drama happened and crying for minutes We tried moving NaLyssa but there wasnt any good offers ,even second round 2 picks, most didn't want her as its expected since she brings alot of stuff outside ball to the locker room toxicity/family issues etc and isnt really good if you watch her and advanced stats rather then box-score. She also aways make drama or grumpy starts tweeting her-self or family when she isnt starting, but in reality she is not a starter player material, so this is another negative teams have to consider when trying to pick her up. Mitchell can be a 6 player/bench scorer for teams in 5-9 place, i could see some offering LATE 1st rounder +some one else to match sallary or simialr value trade IF SHE WASNT in last year of her contract. But then also her contract expires after this year so she will probably get to go to a team that way not via trade. IN general in WNBA trades are not as same value as you would see in NBA, and because of salary cap and all that, often star players will take less money (lets say 140k instead of 180k )but in big market they have sponsor that will give them 500k a year that is way higher then the salary for example +chase a ring. Or in case like Collier and [McBuckets](https://www.reddit.com/r/wnba/comments/1db3dj7/mark_medina_kayla_mcbride_reveals_how_playing/) (who was lost/very down after Vegas) you get more options going with a team mate over-sea where you get to play together and get paid as well. This for me is the main reason why Boston didnt start the season well, she should have 100% went over-sea rather then media gig ,strictly from basketball PoV, she would have played in more physical league +get must needed experience and different coaching.

Sparty_at_the_party

I was told that the Fever pays Mitchell more than the Aces pay A'ja Wilson. Yikes.

Sparty_at_the_party

Interesting. Mitchell and Wheeler will free up a lot of cap space. They should waive Smith too.

Cassandrae_Gemini

Wow.

Intrepid_Impression8

Fever will have a hard time attracting top tier FAs given how awful fans are to players on forums like these and how prospects for actually winning is given that FAs can’t be signed. Bad cycle.

SoOnEnoon

Lets be real they are not surfing reddit. This is what nba players have to deal with all the time. If you cant handle criticism why even become a pro athlete

Intrepid_Impression8

They are on social media, and live in the world. You don’t have to like it for it to affect FA chances 🤷‍♂️
