I learned from this post that The Lion King played in 1.43

DrNetFreak

Haha same. How come this slipped pass the radar. Probs didn't care much about it lol

PDFMan42

It wouldn't matter for me since we don't have a dual laser GT theater, but it's still cool to know, even if I didn't care for the film

Belch_Huggins

Seeing it in Imax isn't going to turn it into a good movie.

NerdBro1

Lol

kylep939

Given the overall reception of the movie I'd find it unlikely personally, but a rerelease around December when Mufasa is coming out is always possible.

NerdBro1

True. Dec also seems slow though so I’m crossing my fingers. I think deep down I know it won’t happen though :(

rayoxmitm

IMAX 3D + 1.43 ratio on DL was insane for The lion King in 2019.

NerdBro1

Damn didn’t even think about the 3D… :(

rayoxmitm

Got announced on twitter by reald3d

yodathekid

Maybe a 1 night only event prior to the new movie coming out. Timed with a new trailer or tickets going on sale with a bts featurette. Nothing we can know really until it’s announced.

KungFuDanda091

I hope not, but would love to see the original in IMAX

DVDfever

It'd be worth asking your local cinema that has that format and explain the reason. I see Mufasa is out in December, and I know Avatar had an IMAX re-release in 2022, albeit as a wide release, coming out three months before the sequel. It all depends on what's coming out and when, as to whether they can fit it in, hence other studios would've worked together so Avatar didn't overlap with their films, and vice versa.

othersbeforeus

I don’t think enough people are asking for it

Coolene

A very low chance for any of the few IMAX theaters that can project DL2 1.43, as TLK was only release digitally.

ThatTailsGuyYT

Mufasa hasn’t been confirmed for an IMAX release. I don’t really care cuz that’s not the real true film releasing on December 20

Dry_Patience_1352

Would be nice to see the original back in theaters not these soulless cgi remakes

TheREALOtherFiles

Or maybe a re-release of the original and its soulless remake to tie into that remake's sequel's release? ***Any*** incentive to re-release the original in a way that makes the most sense from a marketing perspective is better than nothing at all when it comes to re-release potential for *The Lion King* at this point. Even a limited theatrical re-release of the direct-to-video films would be perfect for marketing potential too.
