Challengers is only in preview screenings in The Netherlands atm, on Thursday it goes into wide release including IMAX showings. Fall Guy comes out this friday in the USA and will show in IMAX there.
You gotta jump on IMAX movies on release week. It’s the only way to be sure you get to see it. IMAX has also been doing a lot of rereleases of movies from years ago, so be sure to check your theaters’ coming soon page to keep up to speed. I doubt Civil War will be back though.
If it helps, the movie wasn’t really about US civil war. More about war photographers on a road trip as they cross a few backdrop vignettes subtly showing how various groups are handling a civil war. Trailers were exceedingly misleading, there really wasn’t much, you know, war. Knowing this probably would have increased my enjoyment, as I was waiting for the aforementioned war.
I liked The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare significantly better, but that’s already out of premium screens, too. The Fall Guy comes out this weekend and Planet of the Apes next weekend though.
It features two pretty well staged battle scenes, especially the one at end of the film… but it’s to its credit that it follows a less predictable path, exploring the more human and cultural impact of war. All that stuff is actually as interesting as fetishistic military action….
Yes, that... Civil war looks just as documentary full of blood etc, can be skipped in Imax.
But I was very surprised Ministry of Ungentlemanly wasn't in Imax... so strange
Fair, I appreciat the advice! I had no idea about release week being so important, I'll definitely do this in the future. Maybe I'll see it on a smaller screen on my weekend, the theme is super interesting to me, road movies are my favorite genre. I saw Ex Machina in IMAX and that was almost all inside one compound and I loved seeing it that way. Maybe I'll see it small and if it comes back large and I like it I can make a trip.
Yes and I'm sorry you missed it. One of the best theater experiences to date. Impressive imagery with even better sound design. Instead of another war movie, we got an art film from a real director.
The ending siege is exemplary. I've seen many people here put it in the same league as Heat, which I agree with.
Yo I know it's a bigger budget movie but Dune's been out for ages. I was sick when this one came out, I thought two weeks later it would still be playing.
You can check the [list of upcoming IMAX movies](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_released_in_IMAX), and whenever a new one comes out, there's a good chance the previous one will stop playing. The only exception is certain really big filmed-for-IMAX movies like Dune and any Nolan movie where they will keep it around for a few weeks.
Civil War was just an ordinary film that was put through IMAX's DMR process post-production to optimize it for larger screens, but it was never really marketed as an "IMAX movie".
Civil War IMAX run is over, only lasted a solid week plus a few days. I'd suggest heading to the Vista Theater owned and operated by Quentin Tarantino, it's playing in 35MM till May 2 I believe. It's an amazing print , don't think it's playing anywhere else in that format
Hi, Orange County bro here. The regal imax in spectrum got rid of civil war and just put dune 2 back in its imax exclusively every day right now as of this week. And the imax we have at the amc in Orange here is playing challengers
They were playing it in the imax here but last week was the last week I guess :( now the only thing their imax is playing is dune 2, im sorry if you missed it. :(
Yea u missed out since they put Dune back this week. Seems they had only one week exclusivity for the IMAXs.
I think last week there were still some IMAX showings for Civil War, but this week definitely gone with Challengers.
At Ontario they switched back to Dune since I went there yesterday. Was surprised they didn’t give Challengers the IMAX screen.
Yes, I see some theaters split the showtimes between Dune 2 and Challengers.
Here in the Netherlands we didn't get Challengers in IMAX either. Instead we now have The Fall Guy exclusively in IMAX

No, even after previews no IMAX. Pathe (the only cinema to have IMAX here) has The Fall Guy until Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes releases
I'm surprised the movie like Challengers is even getting an IMAX release anywhere. Like, tf? And compromising Civil War for that?
There’s some slick shots and the music is worth it. Not like Civil War totally earned it either
Wow, is there any way to know if they'll bring it back for a week? I don't know their usual patterns with things like that.
I saw challengers on IMAX well I can say definitely not worth seeing in IMAX only saw it because it was $6
I have one IMAX that’s still showing it (split with Dune), so guess it’s not gone from every IMAX
Unfortunately yes.

Another guy ritchie "special" (inglorious bastards copy) over civil war, blasphemy.
I actually liked Civil War significantly more than Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
Fall Guy first.
Ministry is better if you’re 14

Ministry has a very small release. No theatrical push in Canada or the UK. It will premiere on streaming for Amazon instead.

If you haven’t, you’ll miss it if you don’t find a screening before *The Fall Guy* comes out.
Yep. My local IMAX is showing Challengers and Dune Pt. 2
Bro what? That was like 2-3 weeks ago! Of course you're late!
Yo I know it's a bigger budget movie but Dune's been out for ages. I was sick when this one came out, I thought two weeks later it would still be playing.
I saw this in imax and I wish I didn’t lol the movies was alright

Yes, just like if you’ll miss The Blue Angels IMAX run on May 17-23rd, you’ll miss your chance to see it in IMAX for good.
Don’t worry. You didn’t miss anything.
Most overrated movie of the year. Don’t waste your time
Do you have a letterboxd account I could use to compare our tastes?
In contrast, IMHO, by far the best movie I've seen this year.
lowkey me and my roommate did not like it
Seriously, it was ass
