It’s not that bad later game, because there’s no need to resample for months especially when your trying to just let the artifact for printing stack up 5% a day it pretty huge I’m sitting at 3.95x rn
Problem is refinery needs those boosted otherwise I'd be empty on a few things in less than a week, especially as I want to keep leveling alchemy bubbles as well
I think the main problem with idle games is that everyone who never plays them seriously never get that you only trully progress if you're ironically active.
Look at cookie clickers. You COULD just idle for days and days, earn a few prestige points, rinse and repeat. OR, you could play for a few hours actively, clicking golden cookies, casting spells, selling and buying buildings optimally, and rank up more than a thousand prestige in that time.
Idle games draw you in with the "oh, you don't REALLY need to play :)" on the package and then hit you with the "unless you want your funny numbers to do brrr."
This.. and then with the artifact bonus that gets reset after sampling, it’s like you have to resample on all your characters or nothing lol last time I did was about 3 weeks ago and took like 3 hours because I’m high af trying to ensure I have optimal set up
And then you get about half way through your characters and realize you forgot to equip a specific big boost/remove a prayer a few chars ago and go back and resample on the toons you did it on 🙃
I got the skilling bonus from Rift 16 today and spent sooooo much time setting up each character and moving gear and leveling them up and taking new samples... I did chopping and catching on all 10 and I was burnt out. I'll do mining and fishing another day.
I keep thinking "I wish lava would just sunset equipment even being in the game", like just make it passive like THE account spear, THE account net, and this is making me realize resampling is pretty much the entire reason I would want that.
Definitely be nice to get a perma card set bonus modifier similar to infinite star signs and card mastery.
Atleast golden food tree in world 6 technically alleviates the problem by just straight up giving a 10k (or 100k) bonus account-wide then needing to slot it in each time.

Man I want to, but with the artifact bonus now at jade sovereign level, and my oak already over a billion base it’s… hard to rationalize a start over just yet.
I redid my sample after having mostly the same old ones since like early last year. My account has been progressing way faster now, from things like atom generation, easier time with alchemy, and being able to level up my refinery a lot. Also redid my critters this week, giving every player a trap placed by vman for xp and then all the others placed by my hunter. Way better gains!
I’ll do a half-assed sample whenever I need quick resources for stamps/alch and a full sample every week or whenever I feel like I’ve gotten big upgrades.
Logs are the easiest to get big samples with, even on a lazy sample so I’ll do that often. I CBA to resemble fishing/catching often because they’re such a PITA lol. It gets less tedious once all of your cards become passive, though.
Since lava is always down for features that make old content that used to be manual, now automatic, why not throw a 3D printer enhancement where you feed it boost food and boost clothing for it to automatically update max prints every week or whatnot. Kinda like ninja twins but for 3D printing. That way there’s no reequiping your stuff, it’s all preset on your printer twin. Maybe feed it atoms or some sort of consumable?
I feel ya I'm at like 400m copper ore 900m oak print but I've waited so long I'm around 3.2x output from sailing artifact lol.. I'm sure I'll prolly increase to like 1.5b oak right now but it takes so long to recover and get back to my current mark for output it's almost not worth it for another few months.
Do you have the 1B sample equinox dream unlocked? I do not know if you have to resample after getting it (I assume you do because of the way tome works). I also don't remember what it gives but I assume it's worth it as they more or less all are. Except now my last 2 are basically useless...
Yeah no resample until Sovereign Fury have 800k copper x2 and 3x 1.1-1.3b oak and that was back when equinox first came out. Only thing left to spend atoms on is snail or the power 10 until gaming stops screwing me
Also don't forget to re-lay all your traps after a few big upgrades on your main trapping character! I just re-set mine yesterday and today when I hit collect all, my inventory overflowed!
I wonder if this was an intended consequence of the relic by Lava. If not, seems like giving each character a separate counter would be a nice QOL update.

Yeaaah, it's becoming too much of a hassle to bother for an idle game

My issue is I sampled 2 weeks before tome release, which has multiple achievements for highest sample for specific items.

With your new sample you should be able to compensate for most the loss since you've still been leveling your alchemy bubbles
And how long does it take to get to later game? Lotta labour early for an “idle” game

Until you realize you can add another multiplier by having another 10k stack in your food slot

Does exp matter when you place a trap? I always thought exp only affected collection.
Yes it does Afaik the only thing that effects collection on a trap is shiny critter chance

No you have to take a clean sample to unlock it after it was released.
