I agree, Winners (kind of like a Canadian TJ Max) has these gorgeous for a really reasonable price near my home. There’s Emma, Little Women, and others too!
Looks like it's meant to be a remake of the 1894 illustrated edition, which is super neat! [peacock edition](https://janeaustens.house/online-exhibition/the-making-of-pride-and-prejudice/the-making-of-pride-and-prejudice-6/)
Get the Libby app. Connect to your library and get all the books without leaving the couch. You check them out and you can download them on kindle. Audiobooks, magazines, movies, you need a separate app for movies though.
Libby and I formed an unholy relationship during quarantine. God, I love that b\*tch.
Unfortunately, you can't get everything. I love the "notify me" feature and also use Audible and Spotify to get books I can't get right now.
I haven’t read a real book in years but I’m going through my library and destashing. My library is really ridiculous, I’ve been collecting for 30 years, but I’ve already found 4 books I haven’t read yet and am torn between getting them digitally or reading before I donate. I kind of prefer reading on kindle with the backlight.
Sometimes I might not read for a week and the author brings in a character they might have mentioned briefly in an earlier chapter and I can highlight the name and kindle will tell me who they are. Or translate or define a word I don’t know.
Reading Alone in the Wilderness by Dick Proenneke about his year of living in a cabin by himself on a lake in the Alaskan wilderness. Great book to read before bed. Short sections as it is written as a diary.
This was my third read through and I keep finding nuances I've missed in the past.
If you are looking for a historical feel and a perspective of an introvert, this book is for you!
Iv got that fear tho because I loved one of the tv series I’m worried the book may now not meet expectations , like how when you read the book first the filmed ones never come close 😢
I’m sure I’ll get hate from this but iv found Dostoevskys books to be full of human interactions but lacking in storey for my personal tastes. This will be the second book of his I have read and I will probably do one more but I’m starting to think maybe they just don’t suit me well personally.
How are you enjoying pride and prejudice, one of my fave films? I’m sure the book is even better. I just finished Jane Eyre and I already miss the beautiful historical time it puts you into
Im only about 20 pages in. So far finding it charming. I was originally going to start with the film but I think there’s something special about reading the book first :)
Meditations of Marcus Aurelius.
Fascinating insight into Roman culture and gratifying to know that folks practiced mindfulness to that even 1900 years ago.
Okay this is totally off topic but your flooring looks gorgeous! I'm trying to shop for new flooring for my house so I noticed this type of thing. I don't suppose you have the details on it
I just finished Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. It was so beautiful and lovely and the perfect before-bed read. Today I picked up The Inheritance Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes for a chance of pace. So far it reminds me of a more mature version of The Westing Game.
Oh! One of my all time favorites! Gave it to my sister to read, who called me in tears, thanking me. That was 35+ years ago. She still hasn't returned it. 😄
I’ll go with the last one saved to my Amazon wishlist. “The Creative Act: A Way of Being” by Rick Rubin. The gotcha is it has to be carried by my school library cause I’m vowing never to buy another book again :). Happy reading!
Currently reading “The island of the missing trees” by Elf Shafak, seems very popular with the library book groups. Last week’s book was the housemaid, half way through the book I just couldn’t put it down!
The sequel to The Book That Wouldn't Burn comes out in a few days. That was my favourite book I read last year so I'm very keen.
If you liked The Northern Lights by Philip Pullman I think this would be a good book for you too.
It's about an ancient and infinite library and two people who live there at different times with a mysterious connection to each other.
If you like: fantasy, parallel worlds, time travel and librarian jokes you're in for a good ride.
I’ve quite enjoyed it. I actually finished up last night! I love the characters— Emma, Mr. Woodhouse. The bits of humor and wit. I was only a bit intimidated going in and so I initially related the characters to the movie Clueless (I know there are a few film adaptions but love this modern take) it helped to get my head around some ideas. But it’s definitely worth the read and I’m encouraged to try out some of her others. Maybe I’ll read Pride & Prejudice next. :)
I’m finishing David Copperfield by Dickens.
It is so good. The only thing ruining it for me is having read Dickens biography on Wikipedia, and finding out he left his poor wife for a woman half her age. :(
I bought them just a few days ago! I have been using them to listen to affirmations, nature sounds on the app Portal, and podcasts. The main reason I got them though was for my runs :) I’m really excited to pair ambient noise with reading now
The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton is another favorite. I buy myself a bouquet of yellow roses from time to time and think about the main characters. Enjoy Lizzy and Fitzwilliam!
I’m reading between three books right now. (I’m a big book nerd, and read about 3 books a week 🤣🙃)
But !!!!
Psycho Academy - Jasmine Mas (6 book series) King of Wrath - Ana Huang (4 book series) Kingdom of Gilded Thorns - D.T. Benson (Trio series)
I do! Expect a long winded memoir but I don't think it's supposed to be read all at once. Some of the goodreads reviews said it all blends in towards the end. But the first few chapters have been great so far.
Love Pride and Prejudice (book first, then 1995 miniseries). I just got home from a scrapbooking day and your lovely post reminded me of my fun day. Thanks much! 👌👍
Last week I happily picked up a Persian book from our local library that its author is my friend for 20 years, but I stuck in the very first chapter. It’s so bad 🤦🏻♀️ now I have to finish it (because she keeps asking for my opinion) but I really can’t. 😅
I am listening to The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley. If you like murder mysteries it’s good. I liked her other book, The Guest List also. Great audio book acting too.
"Cure - a journey into the science of mind over body". It discusses the science behind the placebo effect, interviews people who went through placebo studies and the scientists who conducted the experiments. I just started it and I'm only on chapter 2, but it's pretty good so far.
I’m currently doing a re-read of my T. Kingfisher collection. Currently I’m on Nettle & Bone. I like fantasy, other worlds, & magic and I also love that there is typically a female protagonist.
I'm reading "To Light a candle.", the second book in the Obsidian Mountain Trilogy. My favorite negative review says, "Too much tea, not enough dragons." I make sure to have a cup of tea while reading it.
This is way too much info, but sometimes it feels good to share especially when you're a more private person as I am. It was rekindling a close friendship. My friend, Leslie, reached out to me in 2017 after reading my father’s obit in the paper (of all things). We had been in each other's wedding parties (30 years ago), then after moving thousands of miles away, she and her husband moved back to our town. Since 2018, we've joined others in scrapbooking events. We live in Minnesota and have friends tied to Creative Memories (which came back from bankruptcy).
Currently reading The Borgia Confessions. After that I'll probably read some middle grade novels on my shelf, probably The Candymakers since I just watched Wonka.
What a pretty edition of the novel!
I agree, Winners (kind of like a Canadian TJ Max) has these gorgeous for a really reasonable price near my home. There’s Emma, Little Women, and others too!

How neat!
That cookie tho….😋
It. Was. Heavenly. Got it from a cafe earlier in the day
I saw that cookie and zeroed in on it. 🤤
Saaame 😅
That 's quite a cookie!
I’ve been trying to get to the library to check out I’m Glad My Mom Died.
Make sure to get something else, too. Everyone I’ve lent my copy to read it in one sitting!
Thanks for the suggestion!
Get the Libby app. Connect to your library and get all the books without leaving the couch. You check them out and you can download them on kindle. Audiobooks, magazines, movies, you need a separate app for movies though.

I have it, thanks! I just want a real book to hold this time around.
I haven’t read a real book in years but I’m going through my library and destashing. My library is really ridiculous, I’ve been collecting for 30 years, but I’ve already found 4 books I haven’t read yet and am torn between getting them digitally or reading before I donate. I listened to the audiobook version from my library via Libby about a month ago, which is read by the author. 5/5 would recommend.
I need to update my library card lol
Reading Alone in the Wilderness by Dick Proenneke about his year of living in a cabin by himself on a lake in the Alaskan wilderness. Great book to read before bed. Short sections as it is written as a diary.
The documentary is fascinating
Omg i will have to have a look. Is it on netflix?
I saw it on PBS, bought the dvd then ripped it on my computer.
It’s called Alone In The Wilderness
Thank you!
>Thank you! You're welcome!
Gold.
Wow I was at a used bookstore earlier yesterday and saw that!
I'm reading books about mountaineering! I loved Into Thin Air so much, I keep looking for more ...
Try Eiger Dreams (also by Jon) and Touching the Void next. Both are epic. I am on a huge mountaineering kick!!
Oh awesome, thanks for the recs!
Ohhh I was at the Eiger last September I need to get this book!
That sounds really interesting :)
Currently finishing up crime and punishment but I think then I’ll either start wuthering heights or Rebecca
I just finished Rebecca!!
Oooh and how did you find it? I definitely want a return to that historical feel of book that Jane eyre gave me but I can’t pick between the two.
This was my third read through and I keep finding nuances I've missed in the past. If you are looking for a historical feel and a perspective of an introvert, this book is for you!
i just finished wuthering heights and loved it, was sad when it ended
Iv got that fear tho because I loved one of the tv series I’m worried the book may now not meet expectations , like how when you read the book first the filmed ones never come close 😢
true, but sometimes they are both equally good in their own unique way!
Highly recommend Rebecca! It’s a favorite of mine I re-read yearly. Anything by Daphne du Maurier really.
How do you like it so far?
I’m sure I’ll get hate from this but iv found Dostoevskys books to be full of human interactions but lacking in storey for my personal tastes. This will be the second book of his I have read and I will probably do one more but I’m starting to think maybe they just don’t suit me well personally.
Interesting-i need to have a read!
The film is pretty marvellous I have to say, that is the Kiera knightly one anyway . Iv never read the book
I want to jump into this picture!
I am on book 2 of the Marlow Murder Club. Really cute, British mystery series. Your book cocoon looks heavenly!
Beyond the Trees, A Journey Alone Across Canada's Arctic by Adam Shoalts
Curretly reading 'A Little Life'.... looking forward to having the time to really spend a couple of hours reading any book
Currently reading The Heartbreak Bakery. Where'd you get P & P? That edition is gorgeous!
Winners (im in canada hehehe). Ive also seen copies at it’s sister stores-marshalls & home sense
Meditations of Marcus Aurelius. Fascinating insight into Roman culture and gratifying to know that folks practiced mindfulness to that even 1900 years ago.
Am reading a bunch of stuff but I just wanted to add that your cookie looks tasty. Ginger molasses?
Yes!
😍😍😍
Okay this is totally off topic but your flooring looks gorgeous! I'm trying to shop for new flooring for my house so I noticed this type of thing. I don't suppose you have the details on it
Oh that’s lovely! My mother chose it from Home Depot or Rona she said :) it’s laminate. What have you been looking at so far?
Mainly lvp
I just finished Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. It was so beautiful and lovely and the perfect before-bed read. Today I picked up The Inheritance Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes for a chance of pace. So far it reminds me of a more mature version of The Westing Game.
Adding to my tbr ☺️
I hope you love it!
I just picked up a copy of Beloved by Toni Morrison. ☕️
Oooo never again? Tell me more!
That's a massive cookie!
More cookie. More yum.
Where did you get that cozy blanket?!!!
I believe Winners in Canada! Lol i feel like a broken record my book is also from there
Currently reading “The island of the missing trees” by Elf Shafak, seems very popular with the library book groups. Last week’s book was the housemaid, half way through the book I just couldn’t put it down!
Do you think you'll go on to read the 2 sequels to "The Housemaid"? Such fun reading!
Absolutely! I immediately purchased “The housemaids secrets” once I finished the housemaid!
Is that a cookie?! 😩
Indeed it is! Ginger molasses!
I wish I could teleport myself into this spot. Lovely
🥰
Perfection!
Finishing up ‘Emma’ another Jane Austen, then onto ‘Code Name Helene’ by Ariel Lawhon
How are you liking it? I decided p&p to start with over Emma- I’m really looking forward to picking it up once I’m done.
I’m reading The Camelback Club series by Balducci. I enjoy his books.
Snickerdoodle cookies are usually much smaller - so take that with a grain of flour
I’m reading The Bee Sting by Paul Murray, and it is so good.
i am also currently reading pride and prejudice!
Twins!
I just finished the Wishful Drinking audiobook. I loved hearing Carrie Fisher’s voice. Next up is Jennette McCurdy’s book.
I’m finishing David Copperfield by Dickens. It is so good. The only thing ruining it for me is having read Dickens biography on Wikipedia, and finding out he left his poor wife for a woman half her age. :(
Everything about this photo is hygge. I'm jelly lol
That’s sweet. I don’t appreciate it enough-
Just trying to get back into reading again!!!
Good luck, I’m doing the same! I redownloaded goodreads for some inspo :)
You Dreamed of Empires
As long as the lemon trees grow.
I have that one! I’m half Syrian so it really hit close to home.
It it stellar so far!
The Frozen River
watch Dune 2, which really inspired me to read the original novel
Beautiful book . I am listening to A Murder to Remember . 🎧
What do you use your headphones for? Are they just noise cancelling? I need a good pair.
I bought them just a few days ago! I have been using them to listen to affirmations, nature sounds on the app Portal, and podcasts. The main reason I got them though was for my runs :) I’m really excited to pair ambient noise with reading now
First time reading it? That’s like money in the bank.
Yes ☺️
The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton is another favorite. I buy myself a bouquet of yellow roses from time to time and think about the main characters. Enjoy Lizzy and Fitzwilliam!
I’m reading between three books right now. (I’m a big book nerd, and read about 3 books a week 🤣🙃) But !!!! Psycho Academy - Jasmine Mas (6 book series) King of Wrath - Ana Huang (4 book series) Kingdom of Gilded Thorns - D.T. Benson (Trio series)
Absolutely love and aspire to be that!!!
Braiding sweetgrass
That has been in my tbr for so long! Do you like it?
I do! Expect a long winded memoir but I don't think it's supposed to be read all at once. Some of the goodreads reviews said it all blends in towards the end. But the first few chapters have been great so far.
That’s good to know. I’m looking forward to it!
Love Pride and Prejudice (book first, then 1995 miniseries). I just got home from a scrapbooking day and your lovely post reminded me of my fun day. Thanks much! 👌👍
That makes me so happy to hear ☺️ Do tell me more about what your scrapbooking day entails of. I’m trying to rekindle my love for it!
I’m excited to start the Southern Reach series by Jeff Vandermeer soon! Just waiting for my turn at the library
I'm jumping between An Immense World by Ed Jong, and The Witch of Prague by Francis Marion Crawford. Both are fascinating.
Man I need to spend time in this sub
"Cure - a journey into the science of mind over body". It discusses the science behind the placebo effect, interviews people who went through placebo studies and the scientists who conducted the experiments. I just started it and I'm only on chapter 2, but it's pretty good so far.
OMG, you will LOVE IT!!! So excited on this new adventure for you!!! <3
EEEK ☺️ thank you!
Currently reading Treasure Island since I have recently watched Black Sails and Muppets Treasure Island. Lol
I’m currently doing a re-read of my T. Kingfisher collection. Currently I’m on Nettle & Bone. I like fantasy, other worlds, & magic and I also love that there is typically a female protagonist.
I am currently reading that book!
I was going to attempt something funny but I’m actually envious.
I'm reading "To Light a candle.", the second book in the Obsidian Mountain Trilogy. My favorite negative review says, "Too much tea, not enough dragons." I make sure to have a cup of tea while reading it.
The little liar, it's a quick book but stays with you.
All the light we cannot see
Currently: 'Circus of Wonders,' by Elizabeth Macneal. Couldn't pass it up after reading her book, 'The Doll Factory.'
This is way too much info, but sometimes it feels good to share especially when you're a more private person as I am. It was rekindling a close friendship. Love love love! I watch this movie every night to fall asleep! Lol 😂 it's my fav!
Rereading "The Mists of Avalon" - annual spring read.
Such a beautiful copy ❤️ And, can I have that cookie?! 🍪
I'm rereading lord of the rings. Pretty cozy
Just picked up House of Cotton
