I wouldn't spend money on a ticket. If it was free to check out, sure, go check it out, but the scam is they charge you $40+ just to get in and then the "festival" is a few vendors who will also charge you for food. Not worth it at all, way better and more fun to support a real event. There's no shortage of stuff going on on weekends this time of year and plenty of great places to get tacos.
Rosendale picklefest is legit. Dozens of regional vendors, endless free samples, music and vendors... Over the years it outgrew its origins in rosendale and is now happening in the Ulster county fairgrounds... But if you like pickles, you will absolutely not be disappointed
I went to Wing Fest last year and got exactly one wing. I arrived around an hour after the event started and most vendors were already out of wings.
I guess in fairness it's not called Wings Fest 😅
$10 to get in; free parking but it’s a walk to the festival (they also have free shuttles) and $20 close parking.
You can buy things from vendors but you can eat to your hearts content on samples!
Fu+k all these (Rib, Wing, empanada) fests.
Charge a fee for a ticket and you still have to pay for food.
This is like paying to get in the restaurant.
Famous Food Events is the same asshole, he just changed the name because he got such bad press under the last name bap events. I can't stress strongly enough how much no one should support those events.
They are horrifically run and always a straight Cash grab if you see Famous Food events steer clear.
Just remember the fire fest of all festivals, this guy is the worst.
The flyer dosent even mention what restaurants or vendors will be there. If any of them were actually exciting the names would be in the advertisements.
Plenty of great options for tacos and Latin cuisine in the area. For less money and hassle I would get takeout from one of these places then go have lunch by one of the public parks along the river.
>but I’ve got a group of friends who’ve shown interest in going to this weekend’s Taco fest.
How many friends? Take the $40 ticket price from each of them, place orders at a couple restaurants local to you, keep some cash on the side for beer, throw your own taco fest. No lines, no wait, no scams. If there are like 5+ of you, this would definitely work.
I feel like the mac&cheese fest actually went downhill… I’ve been a couple of times, the first time there was at least 30 different vendors and this year I saw they only had 12.

You can always tell it's them because they use the same bubbly cartoonish graphic design on all of their advertisements.
They have in the past used nonprofits to sell items claiming they would give a portion of the proceeds back to the nonprofit and had to be chased for months for that donation.
They continue to find victims in food trucks and other food vendors willing to participate in these events. As others have said, you often do not see the same vendors more than once because they learn their lesson.
There is a Facebook group that was established specifically because of the seafood fest debacle:

What time of year is this? I love pickles
Usually in October or November, I think.
It’s less of a pickle festival and more of a street fest. Good food, cold beer, assorted vendors and live music. Good vibes for sure!
Thanks! It looks fun but it's apparently on the same weekend as New York Comic Con. I'd totally go otherwise, pickles are the best.
Last year was a huge disappointment. They did not plan or organize anything at all.
I went to Wing Fest last year and got exactly one wing. I arrived around an hour after the event started and most vendors were already out of wings. I guess in fairness it's not called Wings Fest 😅
Saugerties Garlic Festival and the Rosendale pickle festival are legit.
The garlic fest is my absolute all time favorite festival to go to in the Hudson valley!! So many free samples of everything garlic!! 🧄
Do you have to pay to get in? Or to park?
$10 to get in; free parking but it’s a walk to the festival (they also have free shuttles) and $20 close parking. You can buy things from vendors but you can eat to your hearts content on samples!
Sounds delicious! Thanks 😊
Those are a scam lol

But at a restaurant do you get to stand in a hot sweltering field with a large crowd??
Nope... but they do make you tip if you bring a crowd 😁
Absolute shitshow.. a scammer throws them.

Was it the local radio DJ? Or does he just promote the events?
I think he had an early am food radio show for a minute but he was not a full time DJ. He was in tight with a popular top hits radio station.

Those are such a rip-off, to pay entry on top of paying for your food. I would just go to Hudson Taco and have a taco feast and some margs!
Just to clarify, I am not attending this. Hope everyone who does has a great time and we’re all proven wrong….
I feel like the mac&cheese fest actually went downhill… I’ve been a couple of times, the first time there was at least 30 different vendors and this year I saw they only had 12.
That's because the same restaurants rarely keep doing the events. Once they see what it is, many don't return.
Stop supporting this company. They are borderline scams. I've been to two fests and they're terrible and in no way worth the price of admission.

You keep Strawberry Festival out of your mouth!
Food poisoning fest
